oh you guys have cheered me up. I still have builders in my home but at least with the warm weather I can throw the doors open whilst I work.

It's my last Zumba class on saturday and then switching to "slower" mode. Have to say the baby seems to enjoy the loud music kicking my belly on certain tracks. But Yoga is going well, trying to find something else to do as well.... as I enjoy the noise and fun of Zumba.

We've just started the "kit list" review.... baffled by buggies, breast pumps and sterilisers and god knows what else that are required. Have a "big day out" planned with Mum, Sis and DH in July to go baby shopping and have afternoon tea. We've got a hunk of John Lewis vouchers to spend but no JL in Brighton.

Had a really unsettling dream last night - dreamt that the baby had chickenpox whilst still inside me and was scratching himself silly. In my dream I though putting camamine lotion on my tummy would help. Very odd

Like cakeladyc we're doing a car boot this weekend, so much that we don't use/need/want anymore. Thankfully the weather is meant to be nice and hopefully I wont just come back with a replacement load of junk

Anyone else experiencing being hot - I'm like a furnace kicking out heat at the moment.

P.P.S My friend went into hospital on Monday to be induced (at 37 weeks). After trying everything under the sun they let her go home yesterday afternoon as STILL nothing happening. They wanted to induce slightly early as she has a medical condition but the baby is staying PUT. Can't think of anything much worse than 3 nights in hospital for absolutely nothing....

rightontime · 25/05/2012 11:34

Just caught up on the last few pages. All is well here.I am laid on my belly typing this and baby is kicking away in protest! lol

I used cloth nappies with DS2 and will this time too. The initial outlay wasn't too bad at the time because my dad had just died and I had some money that he left. Was about £200 for c=birth to potty set though. I got bumgenius too. Also had so close parent pop-ins which I loved.

Also used slings from birth as well as buggy. Had a hug-a-bub which was fab for the first 6months and then moved on to other types. Meitai's etc.

Lovely to hear of everyones preparations for baby arrivals. I have no buying to do as eveything is waitibng to be used from last time round.

Anyway just checking in as i haven't been around for ages but I still lurk every so often Grin

sclayton · 25/05/2012 13:53

I have several things from my first time ( like the slings ). I will surely pick up a few new things this time. :)

I have a problem while sleeping at night. I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem or has a solution for it.

I lie down on my left side ( as advised by doc ). There is an ache developing exactly at the spot where I lie down, just above the tummy.
I have tried keeping a small pillow just above my tummy, no luck.
I think there should be a simple solution to avoid this pain. Any suggestions?

Bakeroo · 25/05/2012 17:36

Hi, I've not logged in for a while as my Dad died suddenly on Saturday morning. He was 59 and went to sleep on Friday night (at my brothers house) and died in his sleep. The coroners report has just come back saying he died of Coronary Hypertensive Heart Disease and he died of heart failure. Myself and my 2 brothers ( and his wife and 13 yr old son) are all devastated. He wasn't ill and we knew nothing of his heart condition. I miss him so much already as we were so close, he was such a wonderful Dad. I am so sad he's not going to meet our baby, he was so excited.

I had my 25 wk midwife appointment and thank goodness everything was fine. I was quite worried because of the shock and grief. I'd been crying so much. It was really wonderful to hear such a strong heartbeat and made me feel better about things.

I haven't bought anything yet but feel like maybe I should, I'm getting more tired when I'm out and about....with the heat my feet are really swollen and sore. I think it's time we ordered the pram/buggy. I've decided on the Bugaboo Bee as it's so light and versatile. Is anyone superstitious about having it in the house before the baby is born? I have a friend who says I mustn't!

ladygagoo · 25/05/2012 17:43

bakeroo so so sorry to hear about your Dad :(

I lost mine nearly 4 years ago and it really hurts still.

Sending you a big hug - look after yourself xxx

york67 · 25/05/2012 21:39

So sorry bakeroo.
Finding the heat really tough and I am not even 23 weeks yet. How i will make it through summer i will never know.
I also had mdwife appointment. Feels so good to hear heartbeat.

Turquoisecat · 26/05/2012 10:03

So sorry to hear that bakeroo - I lost my dad two years ago, and it still seems odd that he's not here for all this pregnancy malarkey, especially as it's the first grandchild on each side.

Got my 25 week appointment on Tuesday, a little earlier than planned due to upcoming holiday - yay!

On another note, my areoles suddenly got really pale this morning - don't know if anyone else has had that or whether it's something to be concerned about. Everything I find on the Internet is about them getting darker which isn't much help when they get whiter!!

Rusulka · 26/05/2012 11:02

Sorry to hear of your loss, Bakeroo.
Can't imagine what you're going through. Take care of yourself, and take each day a step at a time. x x

MissCoffeeNWine · 26/05/2012 14:26

ballroom and cbjk1 no they really don't hurt my back and shoulders. You need to get the right ones, which pretty much means steering clear of anything you can buy on the high street. Babaslings and the typical stuck-on-your-front kind really don't give the support you need for most I don't think.

I didn't have a pushchair for DD at all we just had slings and were happy so planning to do that again, they aren't just for new babies. The ones I have can go from birth to school age on the back and front and hip so I'm all covered. It's generally much easier to use some kind of aid as we all carry them anyway babies need carrying, best to have some support to do it I think or you end up with all kinds of aches and pains.

I am sorry for your loss bakeroo I have lost both parents, it's very hard, take it easy.

Ju1es22 · 27/05/2012 19:26

oikopolis · 27/05/2012 22:58

omg! my boobs just leaked for 1st time... in middle of sexy time!!!!! ARGH!

Sunflower101 · 28/05/2012 10:15

Hello everyone, not signed in for ages but have been reading posts. Hope you are all enjoying sunshine while it lasts, lovely over weekend here. It was too hot to sleep properly last night though. Had swollen ankles for first time on Saturday, not a good look! Have also been waking in a morning with cramp in legs, not sure what to do do as I think I drink lots of water and I'm eating bananas for potassium which is supposed to help.
Was told I look as if I'm blooming and looking really well with pregnancy last night at a BBQ which was really nice. Some times I feel just fat so it's nice to hear someone say to me, other than DH, that I look good.
Have ordered uppa baby vista pram system for baby. Will have it delivered to nearby parents in law house beforehand rather than our place. We got a deal with it when we went to baby show at NEC last weekend. It's light, has carrycot and pushchair, easy to use and has very good ratings with Which magazine.
You can subscribe to Which for £1.00 for one month and read up all info online on all sorts of things. We will cancel before subscribing for a longer period though. But just thought I would pass on the tip.
Having lots of baby kicks at the moment which is lovely.
bakeroo I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you are supported by friends and family members and looking after yourself too.
25 week appt with doctor tomorrow, the weeks feel as if they are flying by for me now.
Have a lovely day!

Smallgreenone · 28/05/2012 11:42

Hi ladies,
So so sorry to hear about your dad bakeroo, really feel for you.
With regard to prams, we have bought ours and it's in the house! Hoping it's not a bad omen but we knew the one we wanted and we saw it on special offer and it was so reduced we couldn't not buy it! We went for the Stokke Xplory, some friends have one and rave about it all the time so hopefully it'll be good!
I'm so hot in this weather and having a constant air con battle at work with people who are cold when it's on. Have had to play the pregnant hormonal card quite a few times this last week! Loving being preggers though and having a bump etc. going on h

Smallgreenone · 28/05/2012 11:43

Holiday next week so hope it's not too hot for me!
Love to you all xxx

cakeladyc · 28/05/2012 12:44

We ordered our pram yesterday! Well, the folks did, they offered and we gratefully accepted. Very happy, and it fits in the car! Admittedly without the parcel shelf in, but thats no big deal.
Weirdly, ordering that has kind of brought it all home that i'm actually going to have a small person to look after, never mind that we've already bought the cotbed, a crib, a changing table...and many, many clothes now. Its the pram thats done it. Was quite emotional about it yesterday!
Midwife tomorrow, a week early because of the Jubilee, been getting some real pains between my legs and im wondering if its SPD or not, so need to talk to her and get her advice, and then have to talk to my boss about maternity leave!
It really seems to picking up pace now, still quite stunned to think that theres only 16 weeks until d-day...

Macaroons · 28/05/2012 14:28

bakeroo so sorry about your loss... To think of this from the bright side, you dad didn't suffer much before he left. May he rest in peace. Take care.

smallgreenone we have also bought a pram, and we also got the stokke xplory! We loved it when we saw it on the street years ago (because the seat is so much higher up) and got it after the 20 week scan when we saw it on discount. Which colour did you get? We got the red one

Just had a midwife appointment this morning and I have glucose in my urine. She's asked me to cut down on refined carb which I certainly will try (honestly I don't eat that many cakes and biscuits, and I always go for brown bread... Maybe it's the pasta and rice...). Hope this won't developed into something more serious Confused

Smallgreenone · 28/05/2012 14:46

We got the purple one macaroons! We loved the high upness of it too and the fact it's all adjustable as I'm a little short thing and DH is over 6ft. Also we live in the peak district and winters can be so cold and I got sucked in by the winter kit you can buy with sheepskin hand warmers for me and fur lined hood for baby! Yay that we are pram buddies!!! X

Loup23 · 28/05/2012 16:03

Bakeroo i'm sorry for your loss, what horrible timing for you - I hope you are getting lots of tlc in RL and that your kicking bean is helping to take away some of the pain.

I am off on hols for a week from Weds but will checking in to read posts - hope everyone is coping in the heat - 13 weeks+5 until D-day, scary! Bought a non-maternity biking today, whopping size 18 top for my boobs which are normally a 34 C....!

moogs1000 · 28/05/2012 19:29

Bakeroo so sorry for your loss, Can't imagine what u r going through.

Just looked at weather forecast and thankfully its gettin cooler, so glad, my dd had chicken pox this week so sick of house, sick of garden, hayfever kicking in added to fact that I only need to look at sun to burn means I'm mardy this week! Oh and I could murder a pint of lager and lime! Ha ha, sorry to moan.
On plus side been gettin loads of movements which makes me smile! Most of mine are low down below belly button.is this normal can't remember from last time!

Been lookin at buggy boards. Has anyone used one?, they're expensive for what they are! Even ebay prices r more than I want to pay.
Hope u r all well?

Hotcupofteaplease · 28/05/2012 20:10

Bakeroo I am so sorry to hear about your dad; truly awful news. My heart goes out to you and your family x

Oikopolis & Ballroom I take two fybogel sachets a day... No joy! Admitedly I have problems at the best of times, pregnancy just exaggerates them massively!

Yes to the swollen ankles & feet; I had them with DS, but much later on. It's extremely uncomfortable.

I haven't bought a single thing for the baby yet; I have lots already from DS, but I do need some new bits. Better get myself sorted, not really that long to go now Smile

What a gorgeous weekend; hope that's not the end of our summer!

funchum8am · 28/05/2012 20:19

bakeroo I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad, that is such a lot to cope with. I hope being pg at least gives you something positive to distract yourself with. Take good care of yourself, you deserve it.

I am having lots of baby movement which is lovely and 24 week appointment with GP (yet again midwife too booked up to fit me in any time close to 24 weeks!) on Thursday.

We went to my mum's 60th oop north this weekend and my brother and SIL gave us a baby bath, top and tail bath (never knew such a thing existed til Saturday) and a bag of neutral baby clothes. So we finally have some actual baby things! Starting to look at ordering a pushchair etc - how long do they take to arrive after you order? And DH is all excited about decorating the spare room which is very sweet.

TinkerMaloo · 29/05/2012 07:49

Bakeroo sorry for your loss hun :(

oikopolis that made me lol! my DP got used to that happening and grew to look forward to it as part of the proceedings lol.

funchum In my exp you tell them roughly when you will need said pushchair and they get it in for you for around that date :)

In other news...

Car boot sale done! (hurrah) got rid of about half of my crap pre-loved bits and pieces and came away £100 and a plant (which i will undoubtedly kill) richer.

Double pushchair purchased! Was umming and arring about it as DD is a good walker and will be just shy of 2 when DC3 comes, but in the end we abandoned the buggy board plans and went with a second hand Phil and Teds double. Its in good nick and will last as long as we need it to, then when Miss is ready to be totally pushchair free I can sell it on, and DC3 (by then) can go in her little Maclaren Quest (great little strollers for any buggy-virgins out there!) Am looking forward to off-roading with the 2 of them already lol!

Glad the sun is dissappearing a bit, I dont do this much heat at the best of times... I am made for cooler climates than Basingstoke in a heatwave...

Ankles are starting to swell :(

Off to see (lovely) midwife today to discuss homebirth! :) (Yay)

DD is having a little taster session with her new childminder this morning and I am worried about how she will cope, but I know it will be good for her to spend time with others before this new one comes along!

Thats about it for now! Take care everyone :) Xx

Turquoisecat · 29/05/2012 13:01

Got my 24 week appointment today (a touch early, but holiday in 10 days, yay!). Everything seems to be conspiring for my happiness today - the sun has gone and there's a random BBQ at my work!

I ordered the Cosatto Yo (the green one) at the Baby Show last week - I know it was early, but it was cheaper than kiddicare, and I've only ever heard good things about it. I'm far too short and weak for a travel system.

I think now I have to officially declare that my ankles are now cankles. I packed some stuff for holiday and found an old anklet, which DH is now constantly referring to as my canklet - what a bastard what an amusing pastime! Wink

Loup23 lol about the bikini - for the first time today my boobs are too big for some of my maternity clothes, which seems very ignorant of them!

ladygagoo · 29/05/2012 13:18

Lovely to hear everyone's news and baby purchases. We have a load of plumbing and re-wiring to do in our house before I can even contemplate buying any gear. Been thinking about a sling though. I have a feeling it might be easier to take DSS to school (all of 4 mins walk) with the baby in one without having to lug out the pram every time.

Had my 25week GP appointment today, listened to the heartbeat which was nice but the very best bit was that she said I am measuring perfectly for 25weeks and to tell my mother to naff off with her 'you're too big/dates must be wrong/are you sure its not twins comments'. I officially love my GP Grin

Well done on your successful car-boot tinker and have a fab time to all those going on holiday
