Ooooh, I think I can feel the little bean wriggling! I'm 16+3.

DD's got a streaming cold out of nowhere - poor little thing is trying to have a nap at the mo but keeps wakig up coughing. I'm super pooped too so I hope I'm not coming down with it too...

Hope your scan went well loup.

lurkingmurking · 05/04/2012 13:26

Yey Misscoffee for team pink!

JU1es sounds like you're doing the right thing seeing the consultant tomorrow - I have everything crossed for you

Good luck loup for your scan. Mine is on 2nd May so ages!

Had 16wk appointment yesterday. No listening for hb which was disappointing but booked me in for the GTT and all bloods etc were fine.

I've felt a few wiggles but nothing really clear yet - can't wait until I can feel it properly all the time!

leelteloo · 05/04/2012 14:38

Hi lurkingm, my scan on the 2nd too; feels like forever away but sure it fly by.

Loopyhasanotherbean · 05/04/2012 15:22

so my new best friend is a big tubigrip. phoned physio direct, did the over the phone assessment, they booked me in for an appointment the following day (yesterday) and i've now got a tubigrip to wear to hopefully ease my pelvic issues!

got another longer appointment with a physio there in 3 weeks time, the day before my 20 week scan, and on the same day as the scan we have a hospital appt for my son to see his consultant re his reflux....starting to feel like we might be getting our moneys worth from the NHS this year...also got another consultant meeting for me coming through the post, and they are also sending me an appointment for a VBAC clinic. must get a diary else will be bound to forget one or muddle up my times...

hope everyone is well and looking forward to the Easter weekend.

Loup23 · 05/04/2012 17:56

Hi all just checking in to say all was fine with 20 week scan, bean measuring well, didn't get much information from not so friendly ultrasound nurse, I think they were really busy as I was nearly 40 minutes late going in, but she seemed happy with the measurements she took! We didn't find out the sex although I couldn't see a winkle so am thinking maybe girl..... Was lovely to seewriggly bean so well formed! Have a low lying placenta at the moment which apparently rectifies itself in 90% of cases, the upside is they want to scan me again at 34 weeks so this wasn't the last one! That seems an age away....

mad sorry to hear about DD being unwell, hope she feels better soon and you avoid the lurgy! Yay for movement though! I'm starting to feel it more each day now!

lurking glad to hear about good 16 week appointment, boo to not hearing hb, hope the 2 May comes round quick for you and leeteloo!

Loopy what is the tubigrip for? I can't remember where you're suffering? I have a constant trapped nerve type feeling to the right of the top of my butt (crack!), hoping to find something that will help.... Seems the more I keep moving the better it is.... Glad to hear the tubigrip has helped you.

Waves to all others and hope you all have lovely Easter weekends, bring on the chocolate! x

Loupy also have that trapped nerve feeling. apparently this is common in pg and it's called sacral pain. not unbearable for me, but certainly annoying.

CluelessMama · 05/04/2012 20:07

Hello all, been a while since I posted but been keeping up with the chat. V exciting that some people are now at 20 wk scan stage!
I have 16 wk appointment with midwife on Tuesday. Could be a busy one, need blood taken as there was an admin mix up with one of the samples taken at booking appointment, and need blood taken for Downs screening as the little one was uncooperative at two attempts at scan measurements (second time I went I got a lovely photo of a baby with elbows sticking out and hands behind head...either v relaxed or v cheeky!!). Need to ask midwife about pelvic type pain too, interested to hear about your tubigrip success loopy, sounds really positive.
Am after a bit of advice ladies, hoping some of you might be able to help! I've been offered a maxi-cosi car seat with isofix system from a friend of a friend for £80. DP and I hadn't been thinking about buying anything for a while yet, so hadn't done any research, but a quite squint online and a chat with my friend suggests isofix is good and this would be much cheaper than buying new. So my question is, what do you think?! And if I decide to go to see it, what should I look for and what questions should I ask? Hope you can help! Thanks!

twizzlestix · 06/04/2012 00:04

Hope all is ok jules

Congrats on positive scan loup and Yey for wriggles mad, hope your DD is better soon.

I really hope the tubigrip works loopy I don't like the sound of pelvic issues! Is it SPD? (Sorry if I've missed this being mention before)

Sorry, can't help clueless am newbie to all that. Hopefully someone more experienced will be able to help...£80 does sound good?

So, being a leeeeetle over excited about being preggo with long awaited PFB, have brought a book to read to the bump Blush Am I insane?

Loopyhasanotherbean · 06/04/2012 09:48

re car seat, is it £80 for the car seat, or £80 for the car seat plus the base for fitting it into your car. If the latter then thats a bargain. How long has it been used by your friend, one child or more, did they buy it new, and has it been in any car that has had an accident would be the things i would want to know. The recommendations are not to buy second hand as it could have been in an accident and not be safe for protecting your baby but they are good friends of yours and you can trust them then i don't see it being any different to us having bought one from new for DS, and now planning to reuse it for DC2 when he/she arrives in Sept.

I had what they said was spd in first pregnancy, apparently now everything here is just classed as pelvic pain, which covers anything to do with back or pelvis and includes spd, pgp etc. i think having spoken to physio people, i actually had more than just spd last time. From fairly early on i had major discomfort and sometimes pain when sitting down on hard chairs, floors, garden furniture, or sitting for any length of time, such as long car journeys, and as well as pain, would completely seize up and be unable to move. Had to take a cushion with me if we ever went out, so didn't go out much!! This never went after the birth and happening even more now pregnant again. I also had spd but that didn't start till much later on in the pregnancy. Went out one night, went to get up from a table at the end of a meal, and felt the worst pain i've ever felt, felt like my right leg was going to buckle and couldn't put any weight on it and couldn't walk. Happened a few times, and its to do with opening my leg too far. SPD went straight after birth. But it seems to be back, and basically now have what varies between very bad discomfort to a hell of a lot of pain, in my groin, top of thigh under my bum, my bum, my lower back. Drove last week for 2 hours on the thurs, then 30 mins fri morning, then 3 hours sat in a meeting and i was stuck on the chair, couldn't adjust position and it hurt like hell when i eventually got up, then another 30 mins drive, then another 2 hours drive home, and i couldn't get out of the car when i got back. The woman i saw basically said that the tubigrip is meant to help your body support your weight, and do what your pelvis is meant to, which takes the pressure off a bit. I was already trying to do a lot of the things they've now suggested, like a pillow between my legs at night, lying down in the day if it gets bad to relieve the pressure etc but the tubigrip should help a lot they think. They have said that as bump gets bigger, they can give me a support belt, but they don't want to give me one yet as there is nothing else they can do after that other than physio sessions which they've referred me for anyhow.

If i have learned one thing from this, it is that it would have been much better if i'd sought help in my first pregnancy as it can cause lasting damage and means it is more likely it will happen in future pregnancies and happen earlier. She said it wouldn't be as bad now if i'd got help last time. So if anyone else gets any discomfort/pain, please speak to your miwives about it as it is really taking the enjoyment out of this pregnancy, and its starting to affect what i can do with my DS.

Loup23 · 06/04/2012 10:33

Good luck for today jul1es let us know how you get on Wink

Thanks for advice loopy I think I might see the MW or physio this week

Really happy to say alls fine at the moment fluid around baby what they should be, measuring perfect legs measuring three days bigger!

They don't really know what the leaking is, it could be my waters slowly leaking but so far there at the right level, they'll check again at 20 week scan on 18th, fingers crossed theyll still be good. They wouldn't do a swob due to my history, they don't want to cause any unessary problems!

Glad your scan went well loup, sounds like you've got a very busy weekend:-)

Thank you everyone for the good luck wishes I appreciate it. Enjoy your lovely long weekends, off for a lie down need to catch up on my sleep xx

leelteloo · 06/04/2012 19:51

Excellent news ju1es Really hope you catch up on those sleepless nights this Easter holiday!

loopy it sounds horrific! Really hope physio and tubigrip give you some relief. I agree with post above, great advice! It is easy to pass off discomfort and even some pain/aches as something to be expected in pregnancy.

CluelessMama · 07/04/2012 00:54

Ju1es great to hear your good news!
Thank you so much for your advice Loopy. We were told £80 for both parts which is a bargain, but great to hear from you what we need to consider. Appreciate your help!
Have a good weekend everyone!

funchum8am · 07/04/2012 08:38

Hi all, sorry to hear about the pelvic pain loopy that sounds truly appalling. I hope the tubigrip does a great job of relieving it.
I had my 16 week appt and my worries were unnecessary - the GP was fully equipped for listening to the hb and all is fine. DH keeps going "be-doom be-doom be-doom" and smiling at the thought of it.
Having said all that cheery stuff,
No one should worry about being honest about their worries on here, that's what we're here for. It's hard to share concerns in real life and we all need a way to seek advice and say how we really feel.

cjbk1 · 07/04/2012 12:44

Iv been too PO'd to post this till now; went to MW on wed she worried me about fundus being v high and baby kicking her and made me feel abnormal yet wouldn't book a scan so I went for private one again (£255 again) it was such a rush to get to hosp in another town (another county in fact) after work, all is fine and fundus isn't even that high I can clearly feel it below navel and it's not very wide either iykwim? it's all normal and I'm 17wk today just been made to feel like a freak Sad

stelleyespan · 08/04/2012 10:18

I think I felt the first movement today. A light fluttering feeling but it was very exciting nevertheless. I'm 19+1 so its a bit early but I still like to think it was for real.Smile

Loopyhasanotherbean · 08/04/2012 11:22

stelleyespan if you have a posterior placenta then you probably did feel something. i will be 18 weeks on tuesday, and have felt my bean kicking for over a week now, and i have a posterior placenta. It's odd feeling it this early as with DS i had an anterior placenta and i didn't feel anything until 22 weeks and even then it was very slight movements and not every day, whereas i'm noticing it several times a day with this one already.

wearing the tubagrip is annoying as it keeps rolling down from the top and up from the bottom and i have to keep trying to adjust it. Not exactly the sexiest thing i've ever worn, but as DP put it the other day, if i put some high heels on and had just a few inches more to extend it above my boobs, i'd be ready for a night out in Geordie land (he caught sight of about 2 minutes of Geordie shores once and couldn't believe the state of the girls on it, mind you good job he had that reaction as i'm so not like them!!)

Hope all is still ok Ju1es22 and still wondering what happened to you methe , just in case you are lurking at all out there...

MadMonkeys · 08/04/2012 18:09

stelley 19 weeks isn't too early, it probably is the LO!

Anyone else got sore nipples again? Mine have been fine for a few weeks, but rather sore for the last few days.

cjbk1 I can never feel my fundus, maybe I just don't poke hard enough.

rightontime · 09/04/2012 12:26

Stella I have been feeling squirmy movements for a while but the first proper, definite movements started on saturday at 19 weeks. Has been happening every day since. Very happy even though some of the low down one feel a bit funny.

madmonkeys yes sore nipples here too. Never felt it like this before but they are so painful. Can barely roll over in bed because the duvet/sheet rubs against them and it hurts like hell!

Is anyone having nightmares? I have experience bizarre dreams before but never nightmares like the kind I had as a child. Wondering if it is linked to anxiety but the dreams are not related to pregnancy they are being chase by zombies and vampires and monsters.

cjbk1 · 09/04/2012 12:59

flippin eck iv just come my closest to actually being sick I feel horrible I'm just waiting for dh to bring food from shop and PILs to bring ds and dd back and I'm getting a sick headache and this feel horrible Sad

leelteloo · 09/04/2012 15:30

Oh poor you cjkb, hope you feel better soon.
rightontime, i haven't got sore nipples yet but had it bad last time; it really helped me to sleep in a sloogy bra top, wore one all the time at night, you can get them in matalan, really helped the pain.
I'm enjoying a sneaky lie down while dd is at soft play with dh: not been able to do much this bank holiday cause of the weather, it's been so cold here Sad

leelteloo · 09/04/2012 15:32

Btw apologies when I get your names wrong, dyslexic, so try to get them down right then look back at post and see spelt wrong, oups.

york67 · 09/04/2012 15:36

Hi ladies. Been away for a while so tring to catch up. Thinking about getting a maternity/nursing pllow. Got rid of mine as I thought we weren't having anymore children. I had one called a big V I think. It was like a long sausage shape.
Any recommendations appreciated.
