Hi everyone

Welcome to the newbies :)

Kveta I am so sorry to hear about your sad loss :(

I have only been away a couple of days and realised I don't stand a hope of catching up on everything, so had a quick scan through! Grin

I hope everyone suffering various aches, pains and generally icky stuff feels better very soon here's a big HUG and a Brew and some Biscuit for you all.

I've been catching up at work, had my first day back in the office on Monday after the fainting dramas of the last few weeks. Very Envy of those that are on ML/leave already :)

I now can't eat more than a very small portion of food without getting horrible pains at the top of my bump, it's not indigestion/heart burn, it just feels like I am going to burst open. My bump goes mega hard and tight...I assume it's just that there's not enough room inside for food, baby and lungs Grin

Had cramp in my calves for the first time since I got pregnant last night...I never knew I could move so quickly ha ha! God it hurts....much empathy to all fellow cramp sufferers!

Take care all and I reckon we'll definately fill this thread before we start popping Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 07/03/2012 15:15

Amethyst I get cramp in my calves. Before I got pregnant I was taking a magnesium tablet every few days which stopped it. Anyway now baby in belly and I'm not taking the supplement it's creeping back in Sad randomly in the night I'll suddenly yelp and DP has to jump up quick time and stretch my leg out like a footballer til it goes. Apparently doing calf stretches before bed should help. Completely with the sufferers on how horrid it is, it's an insane pain!

Warlin · 07/03/2012 16:20

arggh...so uncomfortable! Does anyone else find that bump gets really heavy late afternoon?? We have a lot of stairs in the office and I'm wrecked lugging bump up and down them!

Also, LO is pressing on my bladder so I am dying to go to the toilet but can't....it hurts!

And I agree with the small meal thing...had a sandwich for lunch and have felt horrible since eating it.

Grrrrr.....how many weeks have we left??

Dalrymps · 07/03/2012 17:21

Oh yes, been getting cramp here too but mainly in my feet. I jumped up the other evening and had to lay on my back on the floor with my foot in the air to reach to stretch it. Very silly sight for dhGrin

Dalrymps · 07/03/2012 17:22

Oh and meant to say. That hypnosis cd must be the same one I have (walking up to an old oak tree blah blah). I found it really good but my mind constantly wanders whilst listening to it and it takes quite a bit of practice to just concentrate on the cd itself!

TeaandHobnobs · 07/03/2012 17:59

Kveta I have wanted to yell stop kicking several times today too! So distracting! However I entertained my friend/colleague by showing her how my bump twitches when he kicks - she was freaked out amazed Grin Sorry to hear of your aunt's passing Sad but I hope you feel she is at peace now.

Rhi hope you are holding up well too

Kayzr I don't know if it is baby in my ribs, but I am getting very uncomfortable around my rib cage - but it mostly seems to happen when I have been slouching, so I guess it's just me. No idea which way round he is (or which limbs he is using to beat the crap out of me), maybe MW can tell me tomorrow.

Eating is also becoming a challenge - I had an enormous jacket potato on Monday at a greasy spoon and honestly thought my belly was going to burst afterwards!

Ditto the cramp Amethyst, Mamma and Dalrymps - although it is not bad enough to wake me up in the night, my calves feel sore every morning.

Must start listening to the hypno CD then! I know DH is really going to struggle... sigh

Can't believe some of you are already on ML! I still have 3 months to go, although time is beginning to move quite quickly now. Have moved on from feeling pissed off about being a bit left out of stuff at work to thinking, ah well, may as well take a back seat and enjoy myself Grin

Ok, off to a work quiz night now! Have a good evening everyone.

Ooh thanks for the tip about stretching your calves before bed Mamma, I am definately going to do that tonight. I am sorry so many of us are suffering, but also relieved to know that the cramp and not being able to eat much are not just me.
The food things is terrible, I normally eat like a horse Grin

Anyone for 'One born every minute' later? I'm addicted, need to prepare myself as to what's ahead...although think there's some suspect editing afoot! What do those of you that are already Mums think? My greatest suspicion is that they all seem to give birth lying on their backs... I thought we could mix it up a bit and go for all fours, leaning on the back of the bed/DP/birthing ball, even standing? Or am I terribly misguided? :(

Kayzr · 07/03/2012 19:37

Amethyst I do feel that OBEM seems a bit strange. So much is made of moving about during labour but it only shows women giving birth on their backs or occasionally in a pool.

Saying that though with DS1 once the contractions got really really strong nearer the end the only place I wanted to be was lying on the bed.

DS2 I was leaning on the sofa so a lot more upright.

I don't get leg cramps often but when I do they are horrible. I actually think that they hurt more than childbirth.

I am feeling worried about DS2. He has yet another cough, I am worried it is going to be asthma as they are becoming so regular. XMIL has told me to consider getting rid of the dog.Sad I would ask his breeder to take him back if DS2 has asthma and if I thought it would make his life easier but I am not going to consider now if the doctor thinks that DS2 is just unlucky at the minute with coughs and colds.

Dalrymps · 07/03/2012 20:23

Welcome and congrats MummyLuceGrin

bemybebe · 07/03/2012 23:15

Kveta please accept my condolences about your aunt. Sad

I have not been posting much because I am so bloody miserable with cold and indigestion. The cold/flu started with my dh last week, he was in and out of the bed for several days, high t, sore throat, cough, sneezing, totally congested, heart palpitations, weak and dizzy and he is disabled, so I kept bringing him food/drink/etc. He is on warfarin, which is incompatible with paracetamol but the boots pharmacist insisted it is ok over a few days only when taken as dosed. Hell no, dh bled on Monday all over the sheets overnight, we literally could not stop the nose bleeding for 6 hours...

Anyway, on the same Monday/Tuesday night I am down with the same symptoms, keeping my temp low with paracetamol, but there is no one to bring us food/drink etc plus my indigestion is no longer controlled by Gaviscon. I wake up at night with this sickly liquid in my mouth. Bleugh. I already have high pillows (I am also supposed to keep the feet up due to incomp cervix, so how am I to reconcile this I do not know). I have not eaten for two days apart from dry rice cakes because I am terrified to get it again.

...and breathe!

CathFin · 08/03/2012 06:56

Amethyst - perhaps there is a correlation between people giving birth in different positions and also having the sense to not fancy having a camera crew in the room with them???

I was on my knees first time and on my side second time.

bemy - poor you, hope you feel better soon. And your DH too.

Both DC full of cold and coughs here too - just the time of year unfortunately.

ffnorm · 08/03/2012 09:55

bemy that sounds really rough - hope you are both on the mend soon Thanks

amethyst I think that different hospitals/midwives have learned habits,on the last series there were much more woman delivering in different positions... Was very perplexed last week at the woman who didn't want her husband in but was happy to be on TV Confused
I ended up on my back last time, hooked up to CTG and retrospectively feel I was led by an "old school" midwife. Have very different plans this time and have spoken to DH about being more vocal on my behalf...

welcome mummyluce

Fanbelt · 08/03/2012 10:06

Hi all, feeling like a complete numpty - joined the thread a couple of days ago and have, since then, been laid up at home with a horrible cold (sympathise with you Bemy). So obviously have kept checking back but stupidly didn't think to look beyond page 1 so was thinking - ooh this thread isn't very active, where is everybody? Only just occured to me this morning that there was more than one page! I'm blaming my pregnancy cold-filled-fuzzy-head for being so daft.

Anyway, so glad to have found you all again! I am currently "working from home" Wink feeling very sorry for myself with aforementioned cold. Looking forward to joining in the chat.

rrrayray · 08/03/2012 10:16

Fform - sweet that you knew someone with this surname. For me, it's the nickname my younger sister used to call when she was a baby/ toddler before she could say Rachel.

Warlin - am with you with the heavy bump late afternoon, especially the underside of my bump, almost feels like a strain.

Thanks for all your sympathies about migraines. Fortunately haven't had another since Tuesday, but they really are brutal, thankfully they've only struck when My Dh has been around to have DD, otherwise I don't know what I would have done.

Lovely and sunny here today. Makes everything a bit happier doesn't it. Sunshine definitely such a mood lifter!

Am having some me time at the hair dressers. Hope everyone else well.

Kayzr · 08/03/2012 10:31

Morning,

Bemy and Fanbelt I fully sympathise with you both. I am fed up of colds. I don't feel too bad at the minute, still on antibiotics for sinusitis. But DS2 appears to have another cough and DS1 coughed a few times this morning. I do not want another cold!!

Just had my 25 week MW appointment. All is well, baby was being her usual self and it took 10 minutes to find the heartbeat. But once she moved it was very very loud and clear. She also had a few well aimed kicks at the doppler.

DS2 is off playschool with his cough and he happily declared his love for the MW. She delivered him so she was quite pleased by that. Grin

Hope you are all well today and all have the glorious sunshine we have here.

SpecialJK · 08/03/2012 10:39

morning all!! a bug bunch of flowers for anyone still suffering with colds, backaches, SPD, heartburn Thanks

I'm in a great mood. The sun is shining and I've handed in my MAT B1 today... as the cheesy 80's song, "it's the final countdown"

I'm also feeling more upbeat as I can feel spring coming. Which means less colds (yay!), and getting outside more, double yay! for those of you with kids I reckon it must be better to put them outside in the garden to play. In about 10 days we'll have much lighter evenings too, so planning a wee half hour walk in the evening around the park to get some exercise.

So much better to be pregnant in the spring don't you think?? Smile

Fanbelt · 08/03/2012 11:14

Special and Rrray, I totally agree the (slightly) warmer weather and sunshine definitely makes a difference. All my babies have been summer babies and it is so lovely being able to spend the time outside with new ones, not all bundled up and cold.

After today I've got three weeks of work left (well, part-time weeks) before two weeks of AL for Easter and then ML starts and I can't wait. I'm starting ML early-ish (32 wks) 'cos both previous DSs born early and I have to say working 4 days a week and running around after 2 kiddies while pg is exhausting so don't think I could work longer. Getting to the point where I'm treading water a bit 'cos can't take on any new work and am handing over everything else.

Kveta · 08/03/2012 11:37

bemy sounds like a rough week :( hope you both feel better soon.

I'm going down with a cold too, damn it! stupid colds.

can't wait for the weekend, we're hoping to get some curtains for the lounge at last, so can hide the outside world in the evenings! and I'm plotting some me-time, as DH got sunday off whilst I went down to see family - so it's my turn this week! planning to send him and DS off to soft play or the like for the morning.

12 weeks until mat leave, and I cannot wait. I am so sick of being pregnant now. although baby was kicking like mad this morning, and I could see her moving, which is weird! especially through layers of fat and the anterior placenta!

Warlin · 08/03/2012 12:28

Morning all

So jealous of all this sunshine....it's dull and grey out my window. I'm clearly in the wrong part of the country :(

Bemy that sounds horrendous..hope you and DH feel better soon. I would suggest tesco online shopping until you do...you don't want to be going out and they are so handy for delivery.

Fan made me laugh that you didn't see the extra pages on the thread! We are def not an ideal bunch :) I hope florin, milly, TDW and those who haven't posted in a while can find us ok.

Very Envy of those already on mat leave....I'm with you kveta, 12 weeks left. Though am off week after next and then it's Easter so hoping time will start to go quicker.

Kayzr getting rid of the dog would be awful, def a last resort. I would be heartbroken to lose my wee labrador.

Meeting the painters at our new house tmw so fingers crossed they can do it quickly and not be too expensive...

Roll on the weekend....I'm getting tired of pregnancy too. Just want to feel back to normal and not so heavy and uncomfortable.

Thanks to all those with colds and coughs

justwantcheese · 08/03/2012 12:58

hi all, hope you're all ok ish today and the bad backs, indigestion cramps are not horrendous.
just wondered if anyone has started to panic slightly ie this is really happening, the birth, the care ,finances? i think reality has started to hit me in a big way.

Fanbelt · 08/03/2012 13:09

Justwantcheese I'm still in denial. Got very excited the other day 'cos I bought the first new thing for baby - a changing bag!! But have done nothing else. Have got a vague idea I should start getting organised 'cos my babies come early but putting it all off 'til on ML. Also 'cos I've already got two I'm sort of expecting that new bubba will just fit in with family life (my other two are older and at school). Suspect I may be in for a shock, especially as it's been a while since I did all the baby stuff...

thedogwalker · 08/03/2012 13:37

Hi all,
Sorry for long post but been away for so long, DH was home for 2 weeks and then work so manic, haven't had time to come on, terribly remiss of me I know. The 2 weeks with DH was wonderful, I didn't want it to end, but just over 2 months now and he will leave that place for good Smile.
Mini I am so jealous of you not being at work. I finish on the 13th of April and it can't come quick enough. I get 40 days annual leave, that takes me to my due date and then I'm taking 9 months maternity, so I won't be back until March next year. Not good to wish your life away, but I just want to be at home.
Welcome fan, Blondie , Mummuyluce and readyforNo2 glad you can join us Smile
Cathfin I sleep mainly on my right side, I'm more confortable that way and it doesn't harm your LO, sleeping on your back isn't recommended (not completely banished) after 24 weeks, but the earth won't stop if you accidentally roll over in your sleep.
Kveta Sorry to hear about your Aunt and I do hope you're having a better time with DS. Little monkeys aren't they??? That CD is the same I had for DS1 and it got me through labour with no pain relief, not even the need for gas and air and I had over 20 stitches without the need for anything, so I'm doing it all again this time, hopefully without the stitches Grin
Kayzr, congrats on the potty training. My DS is 18 months and my DM asked me the other day if I had started potty training yet, I said no, that he was too young, just silence on the phone from her, so I know she diagrees, but I'm sticking to my guns, he is not ready.
Again sorry for long post, work calming down now, so should be able to log on daily as before, take care all xx

emblosion · 08/03/2012 17:26

Hi all, just checking in to the new thread. Been away visiting family for the last week or so, so only had sporadic internet access, hence the lack of posts.

Haven't caught up yet, but hope everyone is ok? My iron tablets seem to be doing the trick, haven't had any more fainting episodes at any rate! (Phew). Bump is suddenly massive! It seemed to grow overnight and now I look like I have swallowed a football! Baby is moving a bit more too, but still pretty sporadic- perhaps its just lazy, ha ha!

MummyLuce · 08/03/2012 18:37

Hi everyone! Do any of you think its a really really long time to go between the 20 week scan and the actual birth? I was thinking of getting a 4d scan thingy at 30 weeks...anyone have any thoughts on this?? My bf thinks the babies look wierd on it. x
