Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

Too massive congratulations, and you've chosen a lovely name.

And did I spot a message from Mr Too there as well?? Congratulations to you too Grin

pommedechocolat · 10/03/2012 16:01

too - I blow gently on sleepy bf babies' faces to wake them up.

Bit random I know but meant to say jt a while ago at appropriate time.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/03/2012 16:12

Weird, I think I'm stressed about foetal movement for the first time! Usually my LO is so active it would be harder to find an hour with ONLY ten movements, rather than worrying about infrequent movements. I've always assumed she does all her sleeping at night because she's constantly on the move during the day (and particularly active whenever I eat something).

Today I've just had such a bad migraine that I haven't really been paying attention. So it's only just dawned on me that I can't remember the baby moving much today at all, not even after breakfast and definitely not after the yoghurt I had for lunch. It's rather worrying actually. I noticed this 30 mins ago and so I had a snack and settled down to pay attention, but so far I haven't been reassured. There have been maybe 4 half-hearted squirms, but nothing like the usual hustle and bustle after eating.

I'll wait the full hour and see if I get to ten movements, but even if I do if they're all this soft I might call my mw anyway. I feel so stupid for not realising this earlier! I really can't remember any serious movement today at all, and usually the foot-in-ribs thing grabs my attention several times a day!

Grr, I should just calm down. Maybe she's having a sleepy day. If I wasn't stuck in a dark room unable to use my laptop or distract myself with the tv or a book, I wouldn't be stressing so much!

Sorry for the me me me. I've been thinking about all the No Brooking babies and their Mums all day. Also I hope that Purple's sweep went so well that she's in the middle of a quick and easy sneeze birth right now! Hope Dream is feeling better as well.

Maybe she can tell that Mummy is poorly and so is going easy on you Scream

scarletfingernail · 10/03/2012 16:23

Scream have you got your doppler out for any reassurance?

Not saying that you shouldn't get checked out if you don't feel any movement, but as you have a doppler you could just do a quick check while you're waiting to see if you get any over the next hour?

DreamingOfPeace · 10/03/2012 16:38

Yes, also wondering how purples sweep went??

I think its just a return of morning sickness. The BH probably aren't any worse than normal, and I do get masses anyway, I think they just feel worse when puking too!! I'm tired but not feeling sick now anyway :-)

scream, I do find if I'm knackered or ill I get less movements. Ring mw if you're concerned, getting checked can't hurt. I find the movements thing so worrying. I often think ones quiet and accept feeling anything as ok... It's so hard!!!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/03/2012 16:42

Scarlet thank you sooooo much for that great suggestion! I haven't used the doppler in weeks and I'd completely forgotten about it! I've had a listen now, and it's very reassuring. Sounds like a good strong heartbeat, around 132 bpm which seems consistent with my notes.

It's particularly comforting because all the movements seem to have stopped again. I had a few soft ones between 20-40 mins after eating, I'd say maybe 7 or 8 but they're so soft it's hard to know what to count as movement. Nothing for the last 20 mins tho. I'm going to give my indep mw a call and see what she says, it's definitely a significant change from the usual pattern, although I love Jen's theory!

OP posts:
scarletfingernail · 10/03/2012 16:50

Scream Glad to be of help for a change Smile
I usually class any movement as movement tbh. I think my LO still changes position so much the soft ones must be when it's legs and feel are pointing inwards IYSWIM? That's the beauty of you having a indep MW though, she can advise you exactly what to do.

Dream pleased to hear you're no longer feeling sick.

I'm still feeling rough today, worse if anything. DS is having one of those days where he just wants to test my patience. That must mean that he's on the mend at last.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/03/2012 17:40

Glad Dream is feeling a bit better, and hopefully so is Scarlet's DS. Sorry that Scarlet is still feeling so bad though :( Poor you, I hope this passes quickly!

I spoke to my imw and she was very calming as always! She asked lots of questions about the movements and also my migraine, and she offered to come out and check the heartbeat for me but she was satisfied when I told her the outcome of my own little doppler check. In the end we agreed I'd keep a close eye on it this eve, and touch base with her in the morning. If my headache gets worse, if there are any other symptoms, or if the baby's movements stop completely I should call her back tonight and we'll go into the hospital for CTG monitoring. Otherwise she's hoping that there will be improvement by morning, so we'll have another discussion then.

Thanks for the help ladies. I can easily believe I'm just overreacting because I've got used to such a ridiculously high level of movement. I suspect 99% of babies have more downtime than this LO seems to. So if she has one quiet day I freak out! The strong heartbeat was very reassuring so I'm happy to wait until tom (keeping my fingers crossed for more movement after dinner tonight).

Oooooooooooo it's been all quiet from Purple for quite a while now!! I'm No Brooking for some exciting news when we next hear from her!!

I am constantly STARVING at the moment. Im probably going to end up heavier than when I was pregnant the rate im going.

hawthers - are you suffering with this?! Well done Farley on getting night and day sorted. Am obviously a little bit Envy !!

Biscuitsandtea · 10/03/2012 19:21

Evening all Smile

Hope you're all going ok.

Scream hope those migraines bugger off and your little one resumes lots of kicking

Scarlet sorry to hear you're still poorly - am brooking that DS is fully better soon and doesn't linger in this testing phase for long. How come that stage of illness when they're v trying always coincides with when you've come down with the bug - a cruel trick of nature I think!

Well thank you all for your lovely comments and for thinking of us - it really does make such a difference!

We've had a nice first day at home. Both sets of parents have been to visit (at different times) which has been lovely but ds1 is mega tired now! T'other one has slept most of the day but has had a few goes at feeding so that's good. Also had some goes where he just couldn't be bothered but overall it seems to be found ok so far.

I'm still getting after pains which are a bit of a pain! Does anyone know how long they last for?

The mw came out earlier and that was all good. Although she did warn me that often the night between days 2 and 3 is often a bad night for feeding, as in the baby gets hungry but the milk isn't in yet so they feed a lot to try and stimulate it all. Which is a good thing of course, but I'm guessing my milk will start to come in tomorrow so a big couple days ahead for my boobages!

too hope everything is going as well for you in hospital and you're not in too much pain after the CS. I've also used the trick of blowing on the face of a sleepy bf baby to get them to carry on Smile

We have a bf counsellor support person coming out tomorrow just to check all is well. I think everything is going well but after last time I'm not passing up any opportunity to get assistance, so when the mw offered I said I would be really glad! I thought I might need some advice if we're having any milk coming in type problems,

I've forgotten everything else that I've read Blush

Oh, and I am so hoping that Purple's sweep has done the trick and she's sneezing / enjoying newborn snuggles this very minute Smile

scarletfingernail · 10/03/2012 19:55

I reckon it's happening, she said there wouldn't be any signal at her hospital.

Biscuits how lovely to hear from you. It's sounds like you're all doing amazingly well. It's great that a bf councellor is visiting, I hope I get offered that when it's my turn. Has DS1 been coping ok so far? Early days I know and I expect grandparents are making a huge fuss of him. Sorry we didn't get to meet up again before your new arrival, I feel bad now for cancelling the other week as I expect it won't be rearranged until after my LO has arrived now. I was forgetting about your habit of popping them out early!

Glad you have a plan of action with your MW Scream I'm sure everything will be fine by the morning. If your LO has had a quiet day, she's bound to keep you up this evening Wink

pomme make the most of it. Indulge your appetite while you have the excuse of BFing.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 10/03/2012 20:30

Yay for the Biscuits household having a good first (full) day. Well done to DS1 for taking it all in his stride so far, it must be lovely to see him with his brother! Fingers crossed tonight goes better than expected, it sounds like bfing has got off to a really good start.

I think Purple must be mid-sneeze (or potentially even enjoying newborn snuggles!) by now. Lots of No Brooking in her direction at the mo!

Pomme I hope you're munching away - you've earned it! The only weight worth thinking about at the moment is Abbie's, and clearly your body needs the extra calories for yummy milk-making! I'm sure the bfing will use up any extra calories you're taking in.

All is still quiet in the Scream household. There was very little response, if any, to dinner. There are still occasional muted movements, but nothing like what I'm used to. Sigh. Just going to wait it out until morning and hope normal activity will resume. This wretched migraine won't shift either. I'm 33 weeks though, which is somewhat comforting. If I end up going in for monitoring tomorrow I feel like there are real options available to keep LO safe (in the unlikely event that any intervention is actually needed).

musicalmrs · 10/03/2012 20:55

Biscuits, glad all's going well - and the meeting of DS1 and DS2 sounds so so lovely :) So pleased to hear about the BF councillor too - what a brilliant service to have available to you. It does sound like bf has started well though! :)

Scream, sorry to hear about the movement worries. :( Maybe LO has moved somewhere? I'd be exactly the same though - mine likes dancing around a lot, and I get paranoid if it's been a couple of hours and I realise I haven't felt anything. If you're feeling at all concerned tomorrow morn definitely go for the monitoring - it can't hurt!

Pomme, I'm sure you need all the extra calories to cope with bf, and to help your body recover!

Brooking for Purple! I think she's mid sneeze too :)

pommedechocolat · 10/03/2012 21:16

biscuits - yay for a lovely homecoming Smile

scream - I am munching! How are the movements? Do go in for monitoring if you are at all worried. How's your head now?

Oo no update from purple must mean something..

justmatureenough2bdad · 10/03/2012 21:51

hi all...just in case you missed it, i'm mr too - just thought i would update as hopefully she is snoozing for a bit right now.... all is to be going well, maia seems to be working out BFing slowly but surely, and just sleeping pretty much the rest of the time (tho she is really curious about her hands!!) had the paediatrician (is it just me that grumps at them introducing themselves as "hi i'm a baby doctor") in this morning and basically (i'm sure too will tell you the whole story) but they heard a little murmur (but nothing worth writing home about and that maia was a teeny bit jaundiced, again, not much and not enough for the bluelight!) - when we asked her about maia's kidney, she went "what's wrong with it" and then had to go and find out about it, but basically, she said that she was happy for maia to go home when too is and she would just refer us to the renal specialist at the kids hospital to go in in a few weeks!
ummm..thats about it lol (i bet too could write a ton more!!)
other than......biscuits pleeeeease...put me out of my misery over my earlier post.....

xx (by proxy from too)

Biscuitsandtea · 10/03/2012 22:01

I PM'd you and mrs Too earlier - let me know if you never got it x

NinjaChipmunk · 10/03/2012 22:04

evening all! I am snotty and I'm not enjoying it. Any idea what medicine I can take?

justmature maybe better to pm biscuits in case she doesn't want to reveal on here? Glad to hear too and Maia are doing well though. Big congratulations. DS was a little jaundiced when he was born and the mw just said make sure he was exposed to sunlight and it will go in a few days.

scream I really hope your migraine goes soon and the movements pick up a bit. Get some sleep if you can.

NinjaChipmunk · 10/03/2012 22:04

x-post with biscuits

pommedechocolat · 10/03/2012 22:31

Don't worry about jaundice too family, feeding and sunlight will do it. Dd1 was as yellow as a daffodil for about three weeks and the mw didn't even refer us for the blood tests they can do.

justmatureenough2bdad · 10/03/2012 23:09

thanks biscuits hehe

i'll keep u all posted as i think too will stay in till monday...

DreamingOfPeace · 11/03/2012 00:18

Hello all!

Thanks so much for updating us Mr too. So good to hear Maia is doing well. Glad too was getting some rest.

Have just got back from monitoring at the hospital myself after no movements from twin 2 (the one needing the placental doppler too!) .I got twitchy with him not moving, plus the mornings sickness, plus the more uncomfortable than usual BH. All is fine, they got a great trace of twin 2 as he was sat there like a little pudding but twin 1 wasn't playing ball (too wriggly!) So had ages on the ctg. Most reassuring. And to go back if not moving again soonish. They were lovely scream, just head in if need be. Mw also said she would have a CS in my position- her words were 'goodness, you're a physio, you know more than me you dont want any more damage and there's never a guarantee what twin 2 will do!' . I was so surprised and pleased a mw thought ELCS best for me Grin

Glad boob lady coming to see you biscuits even though you sound like you're doing brilliantly. How's the stitches? Hope all feeling ok. (Don't mean anything about the tear, I think mw was meaning another big tear like we were/are both worried about, so hope that didn't come out wrong or worry you- if I could be guaranteed a delivery like yours I'd be tempted) Xx

pommes I ate like a horse bf and was still thinner than pre pg by 6 months. Go for it!!!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 11/03/2012 01:45

Is it normal for babies to feed a bit and then struggle and scream into your nipple for ages inconsolably?

Biscuitsandtea · 11/03/2012 02:23

Morning [bleary eyed emoticon ]

So pleased to hear things have gone ok so far for the Too family. I'm thinking we may have a little jaundice beginning to come out here too. DS1 was really badly jaundiced so hopefully this won't be as bad. I'm hoping we can manage it with lots of feeding and maybe a bit of sunshine? Please weatherman?

Dream so glad you've been checked out. Sounds v sensible with those symptoms, and glad you got nice reassuring ctgs.

Scream hope you've got more movement but if not hopefully you'll go in in the morning to get checked? Brooking though that you'll have had heaps of kicks overnight so you don't need to - I'm sure with the SPD itself the actual trip to the hospital would be quite unpleasant enough in itself.

Hope all the other poorly people and poorly DCs are on the mend.

And just in case - Go Purple Go Smile xx

Biscuitsandtea · 11/03/2012 02:29

Too - maybe she's starting to get hungry enough and is waiting for the milk to come in? I'd buzz a mw if I were you for a bit of reassurance. Are there any bf support workers available while you're still in hospital? Any reassurance is good I always think!
