hey all!

eurgh, work is truely nasty but just a quickie eh?! waffles and wine mmmmm

I just broke the world record for quickest time to sink a twix, it was amazing but now I feel a bit sick!

frog sunshine made it a little easier to drag myself out of bed today! Sorry to hear Gary is being a pain, just adds more stress doesn't it. fingers crossed something you try works. My friends baby turned in the car on the way to hospital to be admitted for breech monitoring when her husband went over a lot of speed humps - got any schools near you with massive ones?!

maizie so sorry to hear about your SPD - it's truely horrible and must be incredibly wearing - how much longer do you have at work?

jars boo to feeling shite, hope you ended up with chinese and wine? Can't believe you're not in sweat pants already! High five for last day at work!!! Get theeself home with a bucket of haribo to rest as much as DS will let you

lora welcome - sorry about the voddie, I sulked through my first few alcohol free weekends but it does get easier, plus I have a little wine every week to remind myself how lovely it is :)

fish hope you're feeling better love?

hope you all have lovely weekends

Maiziemonkey · 11/05/2012 21:33

Hi Wino ,
I now have 3 weeks left and I can't wait!

openerofjars · 11/05/2012 22:29

Me post, sorry: just popping head in to update the the back ache was just constipation (Jesus, how much oversharing can one woman do?), that I am now off work and that WE SOLD OUR HOUSE TODAY!!!!!!!!!

As you were.

I will be back when I have recharged the old' iPad. And eaten another chocolate brownie. I may even have a medicinal glass of red.

friedfrog · 12/05/2012 20:51

Jars just wanted to say congratulations on the house

Frog x

Lora1982 · 14/05/2012 08:59

My friend starts back t work today after whole year and a half maternity!! Im only 6 weeks but i cant wait to rub i in that i wont be working christmas and new year. awww the simple things :-D its more a case of having to find fun that doesnt involve alcohol and fags. My other thing will be not telling anyone else at work (other than my besties) so theyl just think im getting really fat and feel too embaressed to say anything.

openerofjars · 14/05/2012 22:54

Thanks, frog! Okay we have seen 4 houses between us now, and another two tomorrow, unless baby Jars decides otherwise (unlikely). I hate the house DH loves, he is Hmm about the house I actually want to have sex with because it's so ace but he hasn't seen yet, and the other two we saw were okay but not for us and ohmigawd gross.

I tell you what, if you'd told me when I was 38 weeks pg with DS that the next time I was at this stage I would be house hunting, looking after a 3yo (okay, he's in nursery 3 days a week, but hey) and writing an essay, I would have killed you with fire and then eaten a toblerone washed down with Gaviscon through my tears of remorse. I feel like I'm looking at someone else doing all this crazy shit, but not actually doing it myself... Secretly, I am still in denial about this whole baby thing.

Lora, I think one of the great pleasures of early pregnancy is walking around with an "I know something you don't know" smile on your face.

Wino, frog, fish and Maizie, how are you all doing? Large vat of something appropriately dangerous near a naked flame to get you through work. I have to say that the last week was pretty bad but knowing it was ending was okay. And you can always leave early if it's really shit.

friedfrog · 15/05/2012 23:26

Hi all

jars I am actually having a lovely time, as I have used annual leave to reduce my working week so I only worked tues/wed last week, wed/thurs this week and wed/rhurs/fri next then I am done! 5 days that is it! So don't need to leave early :)

I am self indulging in my last chance saloon list of stuff I want to enjoy before Gary arrives! It's like a bucket list!

OH built draws today so nursery very nearly complete!

Lora I am with Jars, I enjoyed my secret! I didn't show til well after my announcement, didn't really look fat, did have porn star boobs though!

How us everyone else doing?

Frog xx

friedfrog · 15/05/2012 23:27

Drawers not draws!

Doh!

Maiziemonkey · 16/05/2012 00:10

Hi all,
jars you must be reading my mind this week - last 3 weeks of work are turning into a bit of a hike.
I don't want to get long and boring but in short this week have had a couple trips to hospital clinic to check out pains etc. All fine but unresolved.
SPD has kicked up a notch but have some codeine to battle it a bit now and reassurance that it is ok to take it for a while.
I still get a bit nervous having paracetamol all the time but it works better if it is taken consistently apparently.
Growth scan today was all good and have ante natal class tomorrow on pain relief and positions- hurray!
Hope everyone feeling ok and looking forward to the weekend ( yes i am already doing that on TUESDAY ha!)
Have started getting hosp bag stuff ready and go through babygros tomorrow eve if poss.
< leaves tray of yum yums and baileys for everyone>

Impatientwino · 16/05/2012 09:58

Hi-de-hi campers!

jars congrats about house!!! And massive congrats on being superwoman at 38 weeks!!! Hope all is well with you and you're feeling ok.

maizie sorry you're being dragged through the mill a bit :( hopefully starting to get things ready will be a distraction if nothing else!

I wrote my hosp list out last night and have plans to write my shopping list today - currently having my glucose test at hospital so drank my sugar kick at 9.30 and now got to sit here until 11.30 for another test! Yawn! Figure I might as well do something productive with my time!

frog glad you're feeling well and your work sounds very manageable up to the finish! I have 18 working days left whoop! Unfortunately I have a huge event the week I leave which is going to be interesting!! Nursery sorted sounds serious! We are doing ours over the next couple of weekends (by we I mean DH) Smile

I'm doing ok apart from a sore throat/blocked nose - don't seem to be able to clear it so poor DH is having to put up with me snoring which is mortifying!

I've started to get a bit teary about the baby, mainly worrying that something awful is going to happen Sad

I can't seem to shake this dread that now we are so close now I can almost taste it something is going to happen you know?

I have started to try and monitor kicks but he's quite a quiet soul and will go hours without moving but then kick 10 times in a row?

I guess he's still really little and will get stronger and more regular? I'm 30 weeks on Friday?

Aside from that I have been mainly playing with my shiny new changing bag and eating cake Grin

fish you ok?

yum!

Fishandjam · 16/05/2012 10:01

Yo massiv,

Right. I have a cough/cold - so be it. But can someone explain how I can go to the lavvy, make sure my bladder is as empty as it's possible to be (I even lift the proto-fish up and off my lap, rock to and fro etc), stand up, wipe, pull up knickers etc, cough AND THEN BLOODY WELL PEE MYSELF!!! How? How is that possible? Is there some little reserve storage bladder which only releases at moments of maximum inconvenience and embarrassment?

maizie, I hear ya on the last 3 weeks of work. At least mine is broken up a bit with car servicing (which means WFH), blood tests, midwife appointments etc. Hope the SPD isn't getting you down too much.

The proto-fish decided to give us a scare the other day by not moving much for 24 hours. I hied me down to the delivery unit where they put me on monitor and she promptly started moving about so much, the machine kept losing the trace and going PING. Reminded me irresistably of that Monty Python sketch!

jars, congrats on the house :)

Welcome lora.

Orright, Fish?. How are you feeling today? If it helps, I nearly shat myself in Tesco - it was a close thing - and Wino weed at work (alliteration, some?).

And the worst thing is that I was buying a cheap disposable plastic sieve for my home water birth. Eww.

Glad to hear your fishlet has a sense of humour. DS did that at 33 weeks, the bugger. He is fine now, though.

I have had awful BH, weeping uncontrollably and mucous stuff today. I don't think I'm far off at all, maybe a week to ten days. DH said "well dur, your due date is 28 May". Thanks, O Supportive One. Hmm. What he should have said is "There there, now let's get you some nice chocolate, eh?" while making placatory gestures with his hands and backing away. But he didn't, so I ate him.

friedfrog · 18/05/2012 22:41

Oh I wish I had a like button! X

friedfrog · 19/05/2012 16:12

I just packed my hospital bag....dear god I can pack lighter for a week long business trip in Germany!

Maiziemonkey · 19/05/2012 18:44

Hi all
cannot drink passionfruit as too acidic but sounds lovely < leaves bath size glasses of peach margeritas for all- well it would be rude to only mix for me!>

Hey Wino try not to worry babe- your post really made me feel for you. Is this your first baby (sorry cannot remember if you said in previous post-baby brain memory). I had a similar thought process with my first because it took so long to get up duff and had been considering possibility of being childless so up until about 6 months in I didn't really believe it was going to finish up ok.
Then my sister convinced me that I shouldn't miss out on the excitement and joy of awaiting baby's arrival.
I have had lots of anxiety dreams this week so obviously I am not a cool cucumber this time round either!
Did anyone read the news that chocolate once a day cuts likelyhood of pre-eclampsia! hurrah get your medicine ladies! Maybe preggo women have been instinctively on this for years?

Thanks for the sympathy Fish, spd is worsening but have been taking my medications more regularly to create a coping mechanism. Still bit worried about codeine but assured it is ok for a while- will have to reduce and stop before labour though so last week before will be horrid. Have back up plan of just staying in bed! haha
Jars Sorry you are feeling a bit emotional! Second the like comment !Make sure you throw out that sieve after or you know you'll forget and make cake with in 3 months later- euww! Have you got all you need for your home water birth? I don't think I'd ever have the metal to do that. I have always wanted a water birth but couldn't with 1st as had high bp and then PE and now can't with 2nd as it is a vbac so will be constantly monitored. I know I could push to do it but I know I wouldn't as I would get really bad what-ifs and that would not help me stay calm in labour so it is what it is.

You'll have to tell me all about it and maybe I will get a chance with number 3 if we have another.
Frog I googled spinning babies site to look at inversions- wow are you doing them on your own or with a helper? Hope baby moves around for you soon- when is your next appointment?
Had a really weird feeling the other day when I wanted to eat my toothpaste and had same feeling about rennies recently of wanting to eat a whole load (but didn't) - calcium maybe? so have upped my yoghurt, cheese and milk intake .
Anyone else get any weird urges or cravings?
sorry for massive post < air-lifts in swimming pool sized vat of assorted Ben and Jerry's ice-cream by way of apology>
Fav ice-cream flavours? I'll start with Vermonster on waffles

Maiziemonkey · 19/05/2012 18:50

question- brownies with prunes in ( recipe on back of prunes) is this not a juxtaposition of two very different goals?

Lora1982 · 19/05/2012 19:21

I hearby publicly apologise to the stupid man in Aldi for being the first person to suffer from my mood swings.... (well he was putting all his stuff at the wrong end of the conveyer making me stand with a basket) actually no... Im taking the apology back.

Maiziemonkey · 19/05/2012 23:06

Hey he's lucky he didn't get eaten! ( see post above )

openerofjars · 19/05/2012 23:38

Kill him with fire.

OaksFromLittleAcornsGrow · 20/05/2012 18:43

FriedFrog - it's insane isn't it!? The list is getting longer and longer - it's enough to make you feel a home birth is the only option! I have been considering buying one of those 'pre packed maternity bags' - has anyone done this? It seems like a very easy option and I'm all for cutting corners!

openerofjars · 20/05/2012 19:13

You should just see the amount of crap you need for a home birth! And I've still had to pack my hospital bag as well, just in case. I have a holdall...

In the living room we have a box of supplies (snacks, biscuits for the midwives etc), a bucket and sieve, a garden hose and tap adaptor, a bag of old towels nd bedspreads etc, an uninflated birth pool and its bag of tubes, pump etc, a giant purple gym ball...

And the I also have my magic holdall, like Mary Poppins', with stuff for the baby, stuff for me, snacks etc.

Don't get me started on the amount of shite a baby needs when it arrives, either, but suffice it to say that we stocked up on bum wipes when they were 3 for 1...

In other news, I seem to be starting to lose some mucous plug, but as this doesn't actually seem to mean much in terms of baby arriving, I am not exactly phoning the home birth team quite yet... 39 weeks tomorrow...

MightyOaksFromLittleAcornsGrow · 20/05/2012 19:22

(Just name changed from OaksFromLittleAcornsGrow - I knew it didn't sound quite right!!)

A holdall - I've discovered that a 'holdall' - just doesn't 'hold all'. More like 4 holdalls might 'hold all' if I take half out and re-pack Blush

I am sure there's a ton more guff I'd need for a home birth (ie what you have listed!! Shock), but at least I wouldn't have to suffer the humiliation of carting it through the ward Grin

Like FriedFrog said, I pack less for a week away - or even a year away, this is mental, surely you cannot actually NEED all this shite for a few days in hospital - but I'm not entirely sure what to cull. I might end up with bags 1, 2 & 3 with a daily bag to be brought in if necessary.

Has anyone bought one of the 'prepacked' ones? Do you think they are a good idea? (In that you get a bit of everything & it's all done for you?!)

30 weeks tomorrow - very very exciting :) Are you eyeing up the pool yet?? I think I might be using it as a 'spa' pool in front of the TV by now if I were you Grin

openerofjars · 20/05/2012 19:47

Nah, I can't: I already have a 3yo...

But we do need to get it out and check for air leaks, just in case.

Can I just say, at this point: fuuuuuuuuuuck, I'm tired. And my stomach is huge. And I can't get my breath after going upstairs. And my bum hurts from having a huge great big baby head wedged in my pelvis for weeks (DH and his family literally cannot get hats to fit - DS's two favourite hats are age 4-6 and age 13).

I remember this my-body-is-slowly-packing-in-organ-by-organ from last time.

But then I remember the year of negative pregnancy tests leading up to last September, and that was worse.

Sorry for whinge. All is okay really, but, again, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

friedfrog · 20/05/2012 22:50

Evening all (said like comedy policeman)

How is everyone ...hands out lemon meringue pie......Jars you get the biggest slice due to feeling poop.

Wino how you feeling hun? Are you feeling any less anxious? I know what you mean though, I worry about all kinds of stuff :( Maybe as you were under the weather it was making you feel worse?

Maizie nope I am doing them by myself, but to be honest its ok once you get the knack! Hows the pain been this weekend? I find the most painful action putting on my knickers! I think that your toothpaste thing is called pica? I still just want to drink gallons of orange juice!

Fish I bloody loved that clip....thank you Grin Have you had more wiggles over the weekend?

Ah Lora embrace the prego anger.....I rather enjoy it at times!! How are you feeling now?

Acorns To be honest i think those bags are a con, I like having MY stuff that I know I like and smells nice etc.

Hopefully I will not need the bag.....Friday is D day to find out if placenta has moved, fingers crossed.

Jars some strange questions.....what are you putting under the pool? Did you get into bed afterwards?

Today's question to all is, would you bother with nursing tops?

Love to you all and bring on the sunshine this week and MY LAST WEEK AT WORK TIL JUNE 2013!!!!!!!

Frog xx

openerofjars · 20/05/2012 23:14

Yaaaaaay! Congrats on not needing to brush your hair or wear anything other than sweatpants for over a year!

Dunno what to put under the pool, but I've got some cheap shower curtains from ikea and also some of those yoga type things that really hardcore campers use instead of air mattresses (disclaimer: I have used them once. They suck).

I am hoping to have the baby in the pool and then gt tucked up in my lovely bed afterwards with tea and toast. Like hospital, only without the nagging feeling that someone will nick my phone while I'm asleep...

Nursing tops, what like? I have two vest top things from last time with bits that you unclip and sort of flop downlike a nursing bra, and I've also got a top or two that you kind of poke your boob out of, but unless the weather is roasting (hollow laugh) then a normal vest top over a nursing bra, with a tshirt over the top is more modest and comfier, so I'm going to primarni tomorrow for cheapo ones in a range of attractive and competitively priced colours.

DS was a November baby and trying to find my boob through all the hundreds of layers I insist on wearing in winter was a total bitch. I can't wait to just feed this one sitting in a park with a floaty top on over a vest!
