A grads thread for the 30-something TTCers. All stages of gestation welcome. Come on in, pull up a birthing ball and have a Becks Blue.

Okay, this is where we were at in mid-April. I am really sorry if any of this is upsettingly out of date, and please do add yourself if you're not on here.

Openerofjars: 28 May (fucking three days late and counting! Come on baby)
Friedfrog: 26 June (may actually beat me to it)
Fishandjam: 1 July
Maiziemonkey: 3 July
Impatientwino: 27 July
Donnadoon: 1 November (TBC)
Anicecuppatea: 23 November (TBC)
Jewelsandbinoculars: 24 November (TBC)

Okay, off to jump up and down on a speedbump while eating pineapple and castor oil curry. I'm not going down the sex route as the bugger "forgot" to vac the living room last night and I'm in a snit about it. Grin

WeeJo08 · 31/05/2012 11:06

Is it too early for Pimms? Thought not. It's midday somewhere.

Went to see What to Expect When You're Expecting last night. Was giving our tickets to the ticket dude when he said, "Ha, are you pregnant then?" When I replied yes the look on his face was PRICELESS. :o He really wasn't expecting me to say yes (not showing lots yet and may have just been at my default suck-everything-in setting that I adopt in most social situations.) Was torn between asking if I got a prize or pretending to freak out and say "Did you just call me fat??!" really loudly. Ah, little amuses the imbecilic.

openerofjars · 31/05/2012 20:47

Nice one! Grin. Actually, telling him you are pg probably took the wind out of his sails a bit send he might stop saying it to every woman he takes a ticket from in future. You have done a public service, m'dear.

DH and I fell out today. He texted me twice to ask if I'd gone into labour yet. I called him at work and bollocked him, then we had a text fight. We are okay now but it wasn't fun at the time. I probably overreacted, but of all the people I thought would notdo that, he was the one I was counting on! He has redeemed himself by coming home and making sausage sandwiches, washing up and hoovering the stairs.

Q) When do you know your hormones have taken over?
A) when you feel really sorry for Sid in Toy Story because he is clearly neglected - the poor child hasn't even got pyjamas or sheets. Sad. Seriously.

(I'd never seen it before)

Maiziemonkey · 31/05/2012 23:37

no more work hurray! I am now a (big fat) lady of leisure, xx

openerofjars · 31/05/2012 23:40

Woot! Now get on that sofa and eat that chocolate, young woman.

jewelsandbinoculars · 01/06/2012 19:01

All,

Well, I have been a terrible foul-mouthed 30-somethinger. Have been busy, or burying head in the sand, or busy burying head in sand (etc). But in the process I have totally neglected all my imaginary friends and been an entirely useless support network. Sorry dudes.

Am just waiting at the office for the mister to pack our saddlebags and come and meet me (we are off for a bank holiday cycle adventure to the sea) and all my colleagues have long since legged it so have just realised I can MN brazenly at my desk.

Jaaaaars I have been following your live birf thread action on my phone.
How EXCITING! (I have been a birth partner before, oh yes)

wino dude that is such an ARSE about the diabetes. I?m so sorry. It sounds like you?re being incredibly pragmatic about it all but I?m not surprised you?re fecked off. How are you feeling generally? Sorry not to have checked in sooner, partic with you having a shitty time of it.

Fishter how?s being a lady of leisure treating you? And Frog Maizie you too. I did a disappearing act before getting to know you but have been periodically snooping by for the goss and now you?re all about to have babies!

I am now c 15 weeks and as far as I know it?s all going to plan. Had a fat neck scare at 12 wk scan but after much NHS dallying we have been given all clear to proceed to worrying about 20 week scan instead. Woohoo!

Cuppa I have been wondering about you. I really hope its all going well ? would be good to hear from you if you?re lurking.

Not that I?m really in any position to play the benevolent old timer, but welcome jo

Have wonderful weekends y?all.

Congratulations Jars x

friedfrog · 02/06/2012 17:02

I bet you're sleepy! When you are ready I would love to learn about the labour.

I am hoping I'm next!

Impatientwino · 02/06/2012 17:16

Aww, newborn cuddles must be amazing Smile I can't wait!

Enjoy every second Smile

Had low blood results today so celebrating for you with chocolate hobnobs Grin

Impatientwino · 02/06/2012 17:29

Enjoy the seaside Smile

Fishandjam · 02/06/2012 19:54

Yay jars! Fabulous news!! Welcome little Rosalind. I'll raise a Bavaria Wit to you all tonight. (Do you think the water birth contributed to the lack of tears?)

I guess it's a race to the finish line between me and maizie now...

Will catch up properly after sleep. A trip to the supermarket this morning and the shoe shop (for DS) this afternoon has wiped me out, a post-prandial nap notwithstanding.

Fishandjam · 02/06/2012 19:55

And frog too!

OP posts:
Maiziemonkey · 04/06/2012 19:00

Yeah I reckon Frog will be next, but then you never can tell.

Properly settling into being off now, been to stay with mum for couple days having baby shower but back chez moi now.

Start some serious film watching as of tomorrow.

Last possible aqua aerobics sessions this week as next week I will be 37 weeks and not supposed to go in the pool! Eek! Getting a bit real now.

One of my sisters has warned me off one of my names as she wants it for her (theoretical and future) kid. This is news as I actually have had this name on my list LAST time around for if DS had been a DD and surely cousins could have same name if they really wanted it. (plus she might never have kids let alone a girl) We are still deciding at the mo- think I should strike it from list or not?

WeeJo08 · 04/06/2012 19:19

Hi everyone!

I made Eton Mess. (I actually did. NOM.)

12+1 today :) Woop! Looking forward to scan on Friday although I am nervous too (quelle surprise) I just want everything to be okay. I know I had a scan at 10+2 but I guess the 12 week one seems much more of a milestone, if that makes sense?

In other (more upbeat) news, which...prepare yourself....is pretty big. Yesterday, I had magical, shiny, pregnancy hair and glowy skin. I know. I KNOW. It's big news.

I look like shite today though.

Very excited to hear (and read!) about the arrival of Rosalind, jars You wee lady sounds beautiful :) Enjoy!

And by the looks of it, Rosalind will have company in her virtual gang! Eeeeeek! Keep us posted! Please let us know if any of you are doing a labour thread :)

Okay, better go stuff my face!

Jo x

friedfrog · 05/06/2012 13:53

Mazie does that mean u are really not going to consider those names.....very unreasonable I think! You mention the water thing from 37 weeks....does that include regular swimming? Jeez I hope not, it's the only time I feel light!

Weejo how exciting, I know what you mean about the 12 week scan, it made it all real for me. I am thinking if doing a labour thread....will let you know.

So I tried out my Tens machine today which was so funny.....I put them on OH and then turned it to the max!! Made me smile!

Hope everyone is having a jubileetastic weekend.......hands out Pimms.

Frog x

Maiziemonkey · 05/06/2012 22:16

I'm unsure frog - I agree it is a bit unreasonable but then i don't want to cause a thing with my sis either if we might prfer another name anyway. The thing is DH was not keen on it before but noe done a u-turn almost because she is being unreasonable and he hates it when people are to me- obviously bt that makes me feel guilty about saying yes to it.
i think best course is just to proceed with name-choosing while kinda forgetting she said anything and try to just choose as we would without any outside info.
She isn't even married to her guy yet , let alone preg or it is a girl- a lot of what ifs eh?
Sorry yes that is all swimming pools but is just in case u break ur waters then there is a slight risk of infection- it is kinda still up to you , personal choice etc

I tried tens on DH too and turned it onto boost without thinking and made it too strong for him too! felt bad but I had to laugh too!
< hands out scones with jam and clotted cream and elderflower margharitas>

jewelsandbinoculars · 06/06/2012 12:45

Jars you little beauty. Best thread ever. So many congrats!

How are the rest of you doing?

Maiziemonkey · 07/06/2012 22:01

We are hedging towards "Robyn" anyway last few days, just kinda suits us.

Just done last aqua class, 37 wks on tuesday, excited to be getting close!

Jars how you and tiny baby Rosalind getting on? Think you are very brave to do it at home. yes very glad DH wasn't right- wouldn't wish that on you or anyone!

weejo I cried at both my 12 week scans as before had worry it was all in my head- frog is right it makes it real.

how are you hanging frog? could be up next.
had loads of bh's yesterday and today- just would not let up, very uncomfortable and annoying Angry

openerofjars · 07/06/2012 22:40

Hey hey, how are we doing? Well, I hope. At least this crappy weather is better for being massively pg in.

Can I piss everyone off? I slept on my front last night. Okay, it was hell on the boobs, but mostly worth it.

Frog, Fish and Maizie, all this will soon be yours.

Speaking of boobs, when your milk comes in, don't do what I did and forget that you now have super-norks the size of basket balls and accidentally hit them with the wardrobe door as you're closing it.

Maizie, tell her to do one. You were here first! I do like Robyn, though. I tell you what, home birth is a doddle compared to hospital. None of that "is it time to go in?" business, no change for the car park or vending machines etc. The only downside is that you get visitors earlier. But I love love love the fact that Rosie was born in our dining room!

Weejo, ooh, Eton Mess? Any left? I tell you what, my skin is fab since I had dd. I don't know if it's all the water I'm drinking due to bfing, or just water retention plumping my skin out a bit, but I look years younger apart from the bags under my eyes. Am v jealous of your blooming, though, as pregnancy just makes me greasy and tired, with teenage hair.

WeeJo08 · 08/06/2012 10:33

Hi ladies,

friedfrog · 08/06/2012 11:03

Will post properly later but just wanted to reply to weejo

Honey I make no promises that it will all be ok, but I am sure it will be. I think everyone of us felt/feels like that at scan time. I burst into tears a few times early on, thinking it was in my head or that something would be wrong. I felt the same at all 3 scans, and first few mw appointments.

We are all here for you, please let us know how you get on. I am sure you will see a happy little broad bean totally oblivious to the stress it's causing it's mummy!

Frog xxxx

WeeJo08 · 08/06/2012 11:08

Thank you frog, that has really helped me, though now I'm crying again because you were so nice!
