... Or a vest in the sleepingbag.

Bearcrumble · 29/03/2012 22:12

Muslims!!!

Nordicmom · 29/03/2012 22:16

Yes sorry meant muslins. U know it was the bloody auto correct on my iPad that sneaked it in :)

Nordicmom · 29/03/2012 22:17

I do actually check what I've written normally but that escaped me...

VintageNancy · 29/03/2012 22:18

My phone autocorrects muslins to Muslims too!

I have muslins, a zip up swaddle pod and a blanket and will see what works best before buying more of any of them (thank you amazon prime shipping). Planning to use sleeping bags later too depending on how hot it gets. Nights are pretty cold currently.

I had the mother of all BHs last night and thought it might be the start but nope.

Nordicmom · 29/03/2012 22:19

Feeling a bit tired here and no baby yet even... Actually a bit worried about that

Nordicmom · 29/03/2012 22:27

Vintage good luck , it must be time soon!!!

spannermary · 29/03/2012 23:02

Someone gave me a swaddle pod...are they any good?

I have the mother of all itchy bumps today - little bumps appearing on it and I haven't helped myself by scratching.

Silly spanner. Don't think the Lycra in these leggings helps either.

Oh well.

Pitmountainpony · 30/03/2012 00:42

Can I recommend the Aden and anais extra large bamboo Muslins to anyone deciding on sheets....etc.
They are so soft but can be used as sheets car seat covers on car seat and b feeding covers.they just get softer and softer with washing. I had small Muslims first time and the big ones are so worth the bit more they cost......it is like this luxury item that you use and use and use.

digitalgirl · 30/03/2012 09:31

I can vouch for those A + A muslins too! Expensive, especially if you're handy with a sewing machine and can make up your own (which I am not), but so so versatile. Those, a moby and an ergo have been my only new purchases for this baby. Everything else is a hand-me-down from DS or borrowed from friends.

Still pregnant. I know I should be thankful for the r&r - and the opportunity to sleep through the night but come on baby! Right, shower, washing up, then might update my cv while my brain still works.

marshmallowpies · 30/03/2012 12:04

Just looked at the price of A&A muslins on Amazon and went Hmm...then thought, try eBay...and they're even more pricey there! Shock

Still, I can see they look pretty useful, though...

Pitmountainpony · 30/03/2012 13:52

I know marshmallow.believe me they are worth it. My John Lewis muslin napkinS no longer get a look in starchy as they are.they will get so much use.....it is the softness that is worth it...like cotton cashmere.

digitalgirl · 30/03/2012 14:13

Just realised, only two days to go till we're officially in our due date month! Grin

Bananna1 · 30/03/2012 14:17

Just had my 36 week midwife check (but am 36+6). She says baby's head is so far down my pelvis she reckons I could be having it any day. Because it is my 4th, she says they only do this when they are getting ready to be born as normally they bob in and out of the pelvis if subsequent pregnancies. And there was me wanting (no, needing) it to be late. My house is still a building site, dust, mess and noise from builders everwhere, with no end in site. OMG, I just can't imagine bringing a new born baby home to this chaos :(

Please be wrong midwife!!

VintageNancy · 30/03/2012 16:35

I've got the A&A ones too - if I had more time I'd probably look to buy some muslin off a roll and make some myself. They're about 40" square I think in case anyone wanted to make some.

5 days till due day and no signs. I'm betting on 6 days overdue for me! Just a feeling I have.

VintageNancy · 30/03/2012 16:37

Oh Bananna I hope she's wrong for your sake! Are there any jobs that could be put off and they just make everywhere tidy for now instead?

newmummyvicky · 30/03/2012 16:49

Im sure your be fine bananna the head can be engaged for a number of weeks, but the baby will come when ready.

Im still here baby free, doesnt look good......Confused unless anything happens this weekend!!!!!!!
A few people keep phoning me asking- any news and writing facebook! but if anything were happen i think id let people know, and of course of mum, she is driving me mad keeps on calling up checking.
Hopefull sweep will help on wednesday?

Ive brought for baby 3 sleeping bags, but they do look a liitle large so will probally use them when baby is bigger. I also have quite a number of blankets 6/7 people seem to keep buying them. Some are fleecy and some have holes, so i think i just look the wheather and go with what i think best.
I also have some swadling sheets passed down from my sister. Laughing at muslims, had to explain to my hubby what they were, he had never heard of them and keeps calling them muslims and instead of muslins cloths.

xx

digitalgirl · 30/03/2012 22:53

newmummyvicky been getting the same phone calls from my mum. It's my own fault for assuming baby would be three weeks early like DS was.

bananna hope baby 'disengages' as easily as it's engaged. Fingers crossed you get your loft finished as much as poss before you pop.

I seem to have caught the sun a little too much on my arms today. Who'd have thunk, sunburn in March?

Boomerwang · 31/03/2012 00:43

still watching out for you newmummyvidky!

spannermary · 31/03/2012 01:23

It's gotta be soon Vicki!

I'm lying in bed listening to DH snore. He had a super stressful day at work and drank more wine than intended...so I'd better not go into labour or I'll be less than impressed as there's no way he's driving before morning! Hmm.

He's normally very responsible so I won't hold it against him - much!

And now I can't sleep. Grr...

Bunsouttheoven · 31/03/2012 07:09

bananna hope baby hangs on in there until you feel more ready.

Thanks for the advice/link bear & uni, I will go shopping this wk end for giant pants etc.

Had my preclerking yesterday. Quite horrid as I had to explain over & over again to the midwife (who was lovely), junior ho & anaesthetist what happened with my ds's birth. Both were dismissive & horridSad the ho had come out of theatre & had blood all over his shoesHmm. The anaesthetist said 'so is ds actually permanently injured from his birth, no, then he didn't suffer shoulder dystocia did he?' smirk/patronising face. Oh sorry should I only feel concerned if he had suffered brain damage/erbs palsy. FFS. I have delivered two babies naturally, had an episiotomy, ventouse etc all without pain relief. I am not being a wuss or precious. AngryAngry

All this after a decision has been agreed. Also them chatting loudly about my case outside the drawn curtains of my bed (with someone else in the next bed). Not very private. Frankly I found it all very upsetting & will be writing a letter of complaint to the trust.

Sorry for the rant.

Flisspaps · 31/03/2012 09:54

Buns rant away. I think that often doctors (and it is usually the docs) forget they're not dealing with just 'bodies' and procedures, but that the patient in front of them is actually a person with thoughts and feelings of their own and actually is going through a major life changing, private, possibly physically damaging and emotive event - it isn't about being another slot in an OT or hospital appointment.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 31/03/2012 11:38

Hey all, just checking in to say no baby here yet! 5 days til due date and trying all the tricks (nearly burnt my mouth off yesterday with one bloody hot curry, after going to aquanatal and then for a five hour walk!) but seems he's determined not to budge til he's ready...
which of course I knew he wouldnt, but hoped he might have been ready sooner rather than later...

spannermary · 31/03/2012 13:05

Buns I'd be fuming! Actually, I'd probably be sobbing pathetically into DH's shoulder while he fumed.

You'd be well within your rights to complain, I reckon.

Beyond I know what you mean! Due a week tomorrow - and looking to avoid 1/4/12 but other than that, I just want to meet the little one! And I've definitely had enough of the ridiculously itchy tummy/walking like John Wayne/feeling like there's an alien inside determined to cause me mischief.

April's going to be AMAZING!

HollyPockett · 31/03/2012 21:17

Had my 38 week appt yesterday. The Diva is still measuring a cm down but everything else ok. I'm sure that I'm starting to get signs of her arrival... Might just be wishful thinking!
