La Tristesse and Bear - my friend does want to paint my actual bump. She's painted a few before aparently with a smiley face, a Mr Bump and a bun in an oven amongst others. Then photo it as a keepsake. I didn't mind the idea last time but I'm so tired and achey now plus my body confidence isn't good at all AND I'll have an 11 month old to control. Plus she has been known to put unflattering photos on facebook if she finds them funny (including one from my wedding). Mind you, as I said, she's hard to say no to.
Spanner DD 1 was back to back, I never got chance to try to turn her with posture etc. It wasn't as bad as I'd heard - labour was less than 4 hours, I only used gas and air and waterbirth for pain relief and she turned in my pelvis so actually appeared the right way round (I felt her turn but it wasn't painful).
Hope things get going soon for you Boomers, think I'd make the most of a nesting boyfriend if I were you ;)

Boomerwang · 20/03/2012 07:27

He's dusted!

Who is this man and what has he done with my boyfriend?!

Flisspaps · 20/03/2012 08:34

Boomerwang can you send him this way please?! How you doing today? Hope those ctx are building.

Don't know what got into DH last night. Twice Shock Blush. Dirty beggar Wink I wonder if he's been reading up on pointless natural induction methods in order to stop me moaning about Braxton Hicks and backache...didn't work anyway.

How's everyone else today?

Boomerwang · 20/03/2012 09:06

Only one contraction at 7.45am. It built, built, built, then my boyfriend's phone alarm went off next to my ear and suddenly the contraction wasn't there any more. No 'relaxing down' feeling just gone! lol!

We're off to the hospital now. I could have a baby today!

Take care guys :D I'll report back when I'm all done :)

Bananna1 · 20/03/2012 09:19

All your mumsnet friends are willing you on Boomerwang! Good luck, hope it all goes well and can't wait to hear the happy news :)

notso · 20/03/2012 10:42

Good luck Boomerwang very excited for you. Hope you don't have to wait tooo much longer for a snuggle.

digitalgirl · 20/03/2012 11:48

Good luck boomer

Er, fliss can you stop with the shag-boasting please Wink - I am getting no action, not for want of trying...but DH is working till the wee hours to get as much out of the way before baby comes. Any morning attempts get interrupted by DS (unless he's already in our bed snoring like an elephant, in which case there's no attempt obv).

spanner great news that baby is no longer breech! There's always the scrubbing floors technique

Flisspaps · 20/03/2012 12:22

Good luck digi - fingers crossed for you :) Am in agreement with the clothes-throwing too, bear there's no way I'd have even attempted to have cleaned up dogpooclothes.

As for the shag-boasting, it's all I've got to boast about at the moment, I've got to have something to cheer me up - I am enormous, uncomfortable, the house looks like Steptoe's yard (my mind needs to nest, body says no) and I've developed round two of delightful pregnancy spots and greasy hair akin to a teenager

Bearcrumble · 20/03/2012 12:45

I think it must have been either an acrobatic dog or a flying poo, Digitalgirl - the turd was stuck to the side of a chopped down tree and DS caught it on himself when he walked past it.

HollyPockett · 20/03/2012 13:53

Fliss massively jealous. DH won't come near me in case we hurt the Diva! Although by the time 5pm comes around I am done. SPD has kicked in and the Diva is on the move nearly all the bloody time.

Boomer could you write a guide on how you got your BF to polish? I have the nesting instinct, the DH wants to watch F1 :) Although he's done an amazing job on the nursery - tonight, we put IKEA furniture together... Hmm

Digi good luck on the GD test - keep us posted

newmummyvicky · 20/03/2012 14:31

I been madly cleaning the kitchen the last few days, taken everything out and checking out of dates food, the worst i found was april 2011. I got hubby to do the low down cupboards he didnt seem impressed saying, they are fine and asking what we need to do thing? must be nesting kicking in again......

Can believe ill im 39wks now, dont think my baby is coming early, he/she seem quite happy in there.

Good luck Boomer hope u labour goes smoothly?
Im still waiting on news from my friend, who started her induction monday 8am.

No more pains lately for me over the last few days. Ive been sleeping quite well at nite, baby has slowed down movements so really trying to count them 10 kicks a day!

newmummyvicky · 20/03/2012 14:40

A message for Nordicmom

Im sure u wont miss the birth, and it doesnt sound like your baby will come early! what date do u have planned for your flight to the U.S?
and do u plan to be in the room with her for the c-section?

If your baby does come early, They will be looked after by the hospital well, till u arrive. Its so excited for us all to have our babys here soon. x

spannermary · 20/03/2012 15:37

Ha - digi - maybe I will have to give the floor scrubbing a try. You're right, though, I should be pleased the baby is no longer breech, rather than being stressed about the back to back. I've been sitting and bouncing on my ball today but it's so big that it's not that comfy for too long and makes my back ache - maybe I need to invest in a smaller one.

Am currently on the sofa taking a break, with lots of cushions behind me to support my back. I'm sure that's ok for a bit!

Fliss - I too am madly jealous about the midnight action! We tried the other day...shambolic isn't the word. Actually it is. Envy I think we'll be waiting until afterwards, as we haven't found a position that suits us with this big old bump!

Still checking in frequently to check up on people's progress - things are starting to move all over the place - I'm loving it!

Thaleia · 20/03/2012 17:37

Boomer - god luck, I hope you're there yet!!

Had an appointment with the MW yesterday at 34+5 and it was great, we discussed "the birthplan" or better the options available and how it works and when to come and where to park etc.. and she gave me a real pep talk about the birth and that I was in really good shape to do it and that there is nothing to worry about. Hurray for the MW!

Can't believe it started for some of you already. I hope my baby is a bit late, not really two weeks but would love a May one, due on 27th April. I'm planning my ML 10 days before the due date, maybe 12 days. But I'll see how it goes. If I'm fed up/ can't pull it off anymore, I'm out of the door!

I have such a bad babybrain, I actually start seeing things because I can't remember if it was there before. Really strange and a bit frightening.

Almost 6pm and time to go home.

Bunsouttheoven · 20/03/2012 18:03

Congratulations to Bushy & riamay, go go boomerGrin

spanner can you not just deflate your ball a bit ?(worked ok for me)

I feel dreadful today, sick, headache etc. Fortunately my mum has looked after ds today & picked up dd from school for me. I just went to work for a few hours then came home & sat on the sofa. I'm presuming it's a bug but I do feel awful.

digitalgirl · 20/03/2012 21:41

buns keep an eye on those headaches - you may want to get your bp checked if they persist just to rule out PE. I had headaches about a week before I gave birth - so it might just be hormones gearing up!

thaleia glad your MW appt went well and was confidence boosting.

newmummyvicky super-nesting! Love it!

So I DON'T have GD which is fab. So I get to go to my birthing centre assessment tomorrow to see if they'll let me birth there with my ginormo baby. Hopefully the MW will see sense and be as encouraging as thaleia's one was today.
Things I'm going to ask them about:

  1. No urge to push in my first labour - do I need to try and avoid pethidine this time or do I need to rest more after transition till I get the urge?
  2. Managed vs physiological third stage - the consultant has recommended managed due to the big baby, but the injection did nothing to help deliver the placenta last time so I'd like to give physiological a go.
  3. What do they do re: shoulder dystocia (something I've been scare-mongered about today at my appt), gynae today said something about an elective episiotomy (aaaargh, no!).
Cubtrouble · 20/03/2012 22:27

Hi all, not long to go for most of us!!! MUCH less time for others!!! ;-))

Feeling massive myself, cant seem to get much done!
taken the next few days off to have a go at big pile of jobs!!

Getting nervous about the birth- trying not to think about it. Four weeks to go!
AGGHH

Good luck everyone!!!! xx

balkanscot · 20/03/2012 22:49

digitalgirl, great news. I am still waiting for my results, hopefully they should be in tomorrow or by Friday at the latest.

Flisspaps, yikes, I wish I would get the urge but I so don't, from about 13 weeks onwards I haven't had the urge to DO IT, it's like it just evaporated and hasn't come back since. Nothing. Nada. Zip. DH has been the same. If we continue like this we can happily signs ourselves up for our respective monasteries.

Feeling big. Huge. Massive. Mega-giga.

Good luck, Boomerwang!

LaTristesse · 21/03/2012 01:48

Anyone awake? Talk about twingy tonight... Can't work out whether it's things getting started or just BH ramping up but I can't sleep, need to move about and am getting a bit concerned that having thought I was desperate more than ready to get this baby out, I am actually thoroughly mentally unprepared!

VintageNancy · 21/03/2012 02:27

I'm here LaT. I know what you mean - in many ways I'm more than ready for baby but when I get a twinge that's a bit different I think "no not yet please!"

LaTristesse · 21/03/2012 08:02

Um... I just had a baby! Name tbc but she arrived at 05.25, this morning, 2 hours after waters broke and an hour after arriving at the hospital 10cm dilated! Completely relieved after the nightmare last few weeks, and thoroughly in love with her!

laughingGnomette · 21/03/2012 08:22

Wow!! Huge congratulations on the birth of your speedy little girl! :o

digitalgirl · 21/03/2012 08:46

Wow, congratulations LaTristesse!!! Sounds like the ideal birth! Enjoy those snuggles.

UniPsychle · 21/03/2012 08:48

Amazing news LaTristesse! Congratulations on the arrival of your little girl and on having such a fast and efficient labour, I'm seriously impressed. Hope you all get home today.

Great news about the GD digitalgirl, hope balkanscot hears good things too on that front.

Fliss, I'm there with you on mind wanting to nest but body ain't willing (or more like not working in my case). Am desperate to sort and clean but more than five minutes doing anything and I'm floored by SPD/mystery rib pain - it's sooooo frustrating.

mummylivmade · 21/03/2012 08:50

Huge congrats, LaT that was very quick indeed! I hope mine is the same, you have actually made me feel much better about the prospect of giving birth a 3rd time!! I know it seems silly but I'm more scared this time than ever before! :)
