Masturbation sticks sound like an end of pregnancy essential! Any idea where I can get my hands on some?! :o

Bearcrumble · 08/03/2012 14:01

Grin @ fliss's masturbation sticks.

Hugs to all those having a hard time - hope things both emotional and physical aren't too bad today.

I had a bit of a tummy bug on Tuesday, was quite vommy - spent the afternoon on the sofa with DS watching Dumbo and crying my eyes out. Felt better yesterday but today at one o'clock club (Sorry TMI coming up) I had terrible stomach cramps/contractions and was worried I was going to into early labour but only managed to birth a big, squitty poo.

I'm relaxing now while he naps with plain crackers and water and hoping it's all over.

4 weeks to to the day now - bloody hell. It seems so close but I can't imagine having a newborn, it seems so erm, unreal like something that isn't really going to happen to me and as the date gets nearer I get more and more worried about something going wrong. I hate being so negative but I do my best to recognise these thoughts and challenge them (had a bit of CBT in the past).

Bananna1 · 08/03/2012 17:09

I'm with you there Bearcrumble - just really can't get my head round the fact that I'm going to have a baby - even though I've had three, I feel like a first time mum!

Thanks Notso, am feeling a lot calmer today - I think the sunshine helped. I should stop moaning and be grateful that we are able to add some extra room to the house. Just wish it were finished now so I could get nesting!

We've got an extra scan tomorrow to measure the baby's kidneys. At the 21 week scan they measured slightly dilated so they need to check them again to see if there's a problem. I freaked out at the time but 3 months on had calmed down. Am now worrying again that there will be something wrong with baby. If there is, I think they have to take antibiotics for a year as they are at increased risk of infection, so nothing too life-threatening. Did anyone else come across this at their 21 week scan?
Apart from that, it will be lovely to see baby again.

I'm sure I'm measuring small for my dates - was one of the smallest at my antenatal class which also got me worrying something was wrong - but measure 46.5 cm round my belly - will see what measurement midwife gives me tomorrow afternoon I suppose!
Enjoy your evenings - feels like spring today :)

newmummyvicky · 08/03/2012 19:22

welcome back riamay
I enjoying reading your posts, we are all in this together!
My friend had a show last week but no sign of anything else. Hopefully your sweep with help things along.

I Went for a really long walk today to help me sleep tonight. Ive been having problems sleeping too. I now have 3 pillows under me, one/two to the side and my 6 ft long one in middle. My hubby says im slowly taking over the bed. lol
Been getting loads of heartburn, such a pain at night. Have the bottle of gaviscon by my bed.

Now im at 37wks, full term. But is anyone else finding this month go slowly?????

Flisspaps · 08/03/2012 19:28

newmummyvicky I'm finding the days are whizzing by at the moment, can't wait for next Wednesday when I can finally get my home birth bag from the MLU!

Come back and ask me again when I'm at 42 weeks, carrying a toddler sized baby, being hounded advised to consent to induction and still digging my heels in, I will probably be complaining that every day feels like a thousand years Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/03/2012 19:37

36w today, went to see my midwife and she gave me my homebirth pack :) Also went for the presentation scan and got to see babas face!! He is the absolute spitting image of DS, lol Grin
Dont need to have the cardiac scan after all, the hospital are happy that this late in preg I shouldnt be affected.
Entinox delivery in the morning too, we're on the proper final countdown........

Oh, and I've decided that after much insisting that I don't need one, I'm going to get a double buggy after all Blush I'm still not convinced that it is essential, but my mum has offered to pay, and I've found one I quite like as well (for cheaper on ebay too!)

Flisspaps · 08/03/2012 19:46

Beyond That's unfair Why do I have to wait another week?! Although I suppose that as 'term' isn't until 37 weeks, they don't want to give me any more reasons to stay at home against their advice ("but you've given me my bag of presents, so I'm not coming into hospital at 36+3" etc etc) Grin

We don't get the entonox delivered here, the MWs bring it with them. They'd better bring enough.

Hooray for not needing the cardiac scan. And double hooray for a double buggy for free

Full moon tonight ladies - apparently labour rooms are busier on full moon nights so if anyone's going to go early, then for some reason the moon is making tonight a possibility - the next one is April 6 :)

UniPsychle · 08/03/2012 20:02

Hi, Can I rejoin - due April 6th? Home improvements have left me without internet for weeks and weeks and MN is banned at work. I wasn't brilliant at contributing early on but as the time has got nearer I've been more and more desperate to catch up with people doing the same thing as me!

Finally finished work this week, thank god as as I am tired, in serious pain with pelvis/back and grumpy. And morning sickness seems to have returned, which is nice. Sorry to see that lots of you are in the same boat, but it does make me feel better that I'm not alone.

digi my baby also has normal measurements and a large abdomen (97th centile) but nobody has told me what this means, they just commented on it and wrote it in my notes and I didn't think about it until I got home. I have to have growth scans cos of thyroid issues and I'm having another one next week so I'm hoping it will have just evened out. I haven't had the GTT. Can they tell if you have gestational diabetes from your wee or is there another test? Have a very sweet tooth and have been at the cakes, biscuits, mini-eggs all pregnancy and now worried/guilty.

not so good luck with turning your baby. I had an ELCS with my first for breech and it was fine, almost lovely in fact, although recovery is not fun. Think I'm heading for another ELCS for a variety of reasons - should find out next week for sure. Not sure what I think about that yet, still suspect I'm in denial that a baby is going to be here at all, you'd think I'd be over that second time round!

Hotpotpie · 08/03/2012 22:12

unipsychle they dip your wee and if it has glucose in it twice they do a glucose tolerance test round here, Ive had mine dipped today and my glucose levels were off the stick, feeling a bit freaked out by the whole affair - I also appear to have a nice uti just to complement my possible diabetes Hmm try not to worry too much and from what ive read your diet doesnt cause the diabetes, it just doesnt help so dont feel guilty either :)

VintageNancy · 08/03/2012 23:13

Okay grocery shopping is definitely DH's job now. I only got a few bits and I got really crampy BHs in the shop. Feet up on sofa now. I think I'll just be a hermit til baby comes.

Boomerwang · 09/03/2012 00:12

hi again Riamay :)

Just wanted to ask you all... After several months of not at all being interested in sex is it normal to have a sudden influx of dirty thoughts which drive you to distraction? Blush Actually having penetrative sex was uncomfortable a couple of months ago, so I don't think I'd do it now, but it's a hell of a tease >

spannermary · 09/03/2012 00:28

Boomerwang - oh my word, the dream I had last night about making love to DH. I was bump free and it was so tender and romantic and wonderful.

Woke up ready to go!

Then I saw my bump...

I think both DH and I have been feeling the lack of sex lately: it's been a few weeks and we really do miss the intimacy, so we may have to have a little experiment sometime soon, but it's so damn tricky, and I'm not a big fan of the more, um, practical heavy pregnancy positions!

So, no- not just you! :)

Boomerwang · 09/03/2012 04:30

Glad I'm not the only one spannermary

The last time we tried it, I felt odd down there. I must have been about 22 weeks. I felt like there just wasn't room, it wasn't hitting the right spots and it was uncomfortable if he went too far in.

The first trimester was a different story. I was crazed, couldn't get enough, I was literally banging his head off the floor after I'd tackled him to the ground, thrusting as though I were the one with the willy!

Sorry for the TMI Blush

Bloody hormones...

Flisspaps · 09/03/2012 07:56

Boomer and spanner me and DH would seem to be odd then, in that we seem to be doing it more now than in the first or second trimester...or even before Wink

digitalgirl · 09/03/2012 09:56

nope - not getting any action over here. I kind of want to...but I also know it'd probably just be more hassle than it's worth. Positions are limited with SPD. Plus DS has been getting extra clingy lately and waking up several times as we're trying to go to bed. Not helpful.

Thaleia · 09/03/2012 10:20

Good Morning - Friday!

Was late for work, so no breakfast and sprinted (no, really!) for the bus. So felt absolutely really dizzy by the time I made it in. Had 2 breakfast now and feel slightly better. Pregnancy is just something which doesn't go away if ignored.

Just counted the days till I start my ML - 26 working days. Might leave a week earlier but it would be nice to have the time (and money) at the end. So not sure. I just see how it goes.

Sex ... well, apart from the my "I'm going to die of morning sickness" spell, we actually managed to keep it up once or occasionally twice a week. Got some lube now as it feels "different" and more comfortable with a bit of extra help.

Yummymummyyobe1 · 09/03/2012 10:43

Is anybody else exhausted and wonders if bumps should be removable at night to give poor mummy's a rest at night. just over 7 weeks to go (assuming baby is on time) Last few appointments with the midwife yay.

I have informed my DP that our son is going to have a puppy/kitten but no siblings, pregnancy is too hard. Perhaps a gold fish easier still. See the insane thought process of a tired pregnant woman who needs a very very very very strong coffee and not the weak alternative that calls it's self a poor excuse fpr coffee.

It will be worth it when baby is here though (hopefully I will actually get a little more sleep) Wink.

xx

spannermary · 09/03/2012 11:08

Twice a week, huh - that's pretty impressive! Also, LOVING the removable bump idea. We should look into that :o

Woke up in the middle of the night last night and just threw up randomly. It was reminiscent of puking acid (sorry - TMI!) and I have no idea where that came from. Hopefully just a one off, and not a sign of the final 4 weeks and 2 days. Not that I'm counting down or anything! (Don't be late, baby!)

Still, I've been fine this morning, if a little tired, and have made brisket in the slow cooker, butternut squash and carrot soup to freeze and made a start on a chilli to freeze too!

Not bad, eh? Going to chill for the rest of the day, because I don't want to overdo it.

Hope you're all well.

Boomerwang · 09/03/2012 11:54

You might have to break out the antacids spannermary. I'm already on omeprazole for reflux, have been for over two years, so I'm lucky that I'm not suffering any more than usual but it's common in late pregnancy isn't it?

When I turned over in bed this morning, something in my lower back 'popped'. It didn't hurt and it's not the first time it's happened, but I hope it's not a serious thing Confused

VintageNancy · 09/03/2012 12:17

4.15am and I'm awake. Been awake on and off all night. Had bad dream we were being burgled when I did manage to sleep.

Sex? Ha ha ha ha! I feel like I want to but I just can't imagine physically doing it right now. Poor DH.

Bunsouttheoven · 09/03/2012 14:35

Last couple of times we were up to no goodGrin I got cramp in both legs. Not the sort of groaning that DP probably wanted me to be doing.

I have found non penetrative sex to be more fun & less cumbersome in late pregnancy. Also morning nuptials better than evening, by 8pm I am exhausted.

Bananna1 · 09/03/2012 17:08

All good here - we had the kidney check up scan today and everything is completely normal - in fact they said the locum should never have referred us in the first place as the measurements were fine back at 21 weeks! 13 weeks of worrying for nothing! Measuring 1 cm less with tape measure by different midwife today, but scan measured baby's growth and all perfect, with an estimated weight of 4lbs 15oz.

Sex - I wish we could more, but with 3 teenagers prowling round the house constantly and me exhausted and in bed by 8pm, it's a near-miss thing! Manage to about once a week, but it's not like it used to be! They are off to their dad's for the first time in 6 weeks for the night tonight though, so drum roll.... who knows!

marshmallowpies · 09/03/2012 17:32

Had a bit of a scare today with my first ever falling-over incident since being pregnant - I work in a bookshop which is constantly piled up with boxes and bags of books (health and safety nightmare...).

I fell backwards over a bag of books that were right behind me - luckily they were a big bag and I sort of sat down over them rather than falling on them, so I didn't fall very far and it was a soft landing. Felt a bit stupid but seems no harm done as baby has been wriggling away this afternoon.

Then did a trip into town to meet some friends and had various altercations with buses, tubes and trains en route. One bus I got on was so crowded I ended up giving up my seat for someone on crutches, but luckily someone else spotted my delicate condition and gave me their seat. I don't think I'll be venturing into central London any time again soon!

Tinwe · 09/03/2012 21:09

Hello all, just checking in. S v difficult to scroll up and down to name check, but its always interesting reading about you all :)

I've suddenly gotten very pregnant in the last few days - aches and pains in every position, lots of Braxton Hicks, almost constant stabs/shooting pains low down right under my bump, feeling like Bean has dropped and right between my legs when I stand, boobs starting to leak a tiny bit, Bean extra uncomfortable when wriggly (and being extra wriggly!) plus feeling full all the time/not able to eat hardly anything without feeling like i'll explode. Hope this is a phase as i'm not happy being like this for another 5 weeks!

Boomerwang · 09/03/2012 23:13

I keep checking my boobs for signs of leaking but I can't even see any holes. I'm having a bit of a worry that I'll never be able to breastfeed because I just can't see where it comes from!
