Hi Misslaughalot glad you've joined us.

Welcome sam86 and pikz.

Made my appointment with midwife, you don't have to see the doctor first now which is a change from the last time I was pregnant, although that was over 5 years ago. It'll be when I'm 8 weeks, seems so long away! I am a very patient person except when it comes to being pregnant apparently.

Had an upset stomach last night and I now seem to be off food, which made mothers day lunch at my youngest 2's school today fun.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 16/03/2012 14:08

Sounds really stressful Titsalina. I guess you'll just have to take it a day at a time until the scan - I can't imagine how worried you are. (holds hand)

Izzy, so so sorry to hear your news.

Peaky1 · 16/03/2012 14:50

Titsalina - is there a family history of cf at all? Otherwise it's quite odd that they're testing for it. Perhaps it's just one of their precautions.

sam86 · 16/03/2012 15:03

There seems to be a lot different this time around (especially as only been a year and a half since I last had a baby!).

My doctor told me pregnant women should now take vitamin d as well as folic acid, and I'm having to see my midwife at an antenatal clinic time at a sure start centre- which is a bit of a bugger as Im going to have to sat nav it as it goes off your GPs address, not mine, even though there's a sure start about two minutes from me! Xx

TitsalinaBumSquash · 16/03/2012 15:39

Sorry I should have explained, my eldest has cf, so naturally I carry the gene, we don;t know if DP does as he isn't DS1&2's father.

Bimbledorf · 16/03/2012 16:17

Well it's been a week since I have posted on here - it didn't even come up as threads I'm on so there is no way to catch up now - 782 messages?!

Titsalina thinking of you - it's stressful ebnough without that to worry about too, hope everything is ok.

Izzy so sorry to hear your news, hope you're doing ok under the circumstances though.

Hello to all the newbies and hello to the lady (sorry can't find the post again) who said that she has a 7 and 5 year old and are experiencing massive guilt feelings about the affect it will have on your other 2 - I'm exactly the same! 7yr old DS and 5 yr old DD. Lots of hypothetical conversations have been had lately though along the lines of would you like another brother/sister and they assure me that they would...hmm, not sure how that will change in reality.

Not feeling sick yet or off tea yet which is good considering I have obvioulsy given up wine - can't do without tea as well! Im expecting that to change imminently though if the past is anything to go by.

I still have stupidly low temperatures, but everything else seems ok, so I'm sure it means absolutely nothing and I don't know why I am still taking them!

As for booking in with the doctors, I rang this morning and the receptionist said you don't need to come along till 12 weeks?! What? Aren't you meant to have your first scan then, she then said "Hang on, I'll just check...oh yes sorry you need to make an appointment sometime in the next few weeks and we will confirm it, my 12 home tests obvioulsy wouldn't then book you in with the midwife.

Happy weekend everyone - LIE IN!! woo hoo

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 16/03/2012 16:27

Lie in sounds good.

I've just been ebay-ing for maternity clothes, a bit premature, but never mind.

Anyone else already showing? I thought it was bloating but honestly, I have a proper bump. Crazy, I didn't show with my first until I was 6 months+.

OMGBFP · 16/03/2012 16:46

Hello newbies and oldies alike :)

FSINP It is related to bloating yes and will go down again and then you'll sprout your proper bump :)

I've been looking on Ebay at all manner of things, mainly maternity wear and pushchairs. Not bought anything yet though. All my years TTC I really wanted a Silver Cross Dazzle but they don't make them anymore, deciding if I want to try and get an Ebay one. Anyone thought about pushchairs/prams etc yet?

Some may have seen my other thread, I am having a wobble at the fact we live in a one bed flat and cannot move for at least 2 years after the baby is born Sad

Bimbledorf · 16/03/2012 17:10

Thought I would update this again as I'm not trying to hide my age!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 16/03/2012 17:13

I have a real achy stabby pain in chest, I had a pulmonary embolism with DS1's pregnancy, so I am a bit concerned, it's not agonising but still very much there. :(

misslaughalot · 16/03/2012 17:32

tits sounds like something you should get checked out pronto, hope everything's ok.

Has anyone else developed wind problems? Seriously, I feel like I could trump for England at the Olympics the rate I'm going?!!

Peaky1 · 16/03/2012 17:41

Titsalina - aah I see. Well hopefully his DNA comes back clear and you'll have that worry off your mind. As for the chest pain...perhaps a cracking heartburn? Why not try NHS Direct as a first port of call x

Peaky1 · 16/03/2012 17:45

OMGBFP - Yeah that does sound like a headache when you think of it all at once but I bet the more you think about it, the more you'll think of ways to make the most of it! At least you won't have to go far to comfort/feed/change in the night! ;-)

DesperateHousewife21 · 16/03/2012 17:51

omgbfp I'm in a 2 bed flat but there'll be 4 of us when this baby is here, hope we can manage for a while longer though it's a great place we rent from FIL so get a reduced rate.

misslaughalot argh yes! See my post about agonising toilet trips Hmm it's awful I literally rub my tummy while sitting on the loo gripping the side of the bath and breathing deep, I look like im in labour!

LittleLolly · 16/03/2012 17:52

tits ring your antenatal ward they will advise you best. Hope your DP's blood comes back negative, I'm sure it will if there's no history of CF in his family. Must be a big worry for you. Is your eldest a well CF child?

FSINP I have a very bloated tummy but I just look constipated! Baggy tops are covering it up and I'm having to undo my top button on my jeans. But mine is definitely bloat and not bump! I would rather it was bump haha!

TheDetective · 16/03/2012 18:29

I'm going to the GP on monday, going to ask to be signed off work. I don't feel anywhere near as awful as I did with DS, but I wasn't working with him.

I feel nauseous any time I am not lying down, I feel tired, bloated and dizzy. I'm on nights, which is exacerbating the situation.

You can't be a midwife unless you can give 100%, and right now, I can't, and my manager doesn't seem to care. So, the solution - don't work!

Tiago · 16/03/2012 19:17

Sorry to all feeling rough. I am in the same boat as I appear to have caught something v v flu-like. It's awful. I ended up going to bed at 3pm and only just woke up. Am v worried that it might affect the baby. Have got sharp pain in my lower right hand side when coughing and sneezing, which is alarming but probably a pulled muscle if I a honest.

Belgrano · 16/03/2012 19:30

The Detective, sounds like the right plan to me. I'd hate to be cared for by a mw who was swallowing down retches while trying to make sure I was ok. You need to put yourself first till you feel better. I hope that is soon.

I feel really bloody awful. SO fed up.

Is ayone else embarassed to tell people? I can't work out why but I hate telling people. It's sort of partly because it means admitting we've had sex (eh?) and partly because they then make a great big fuss of you and it feels ages away and frankly hideous at the moment, not something to leap up and down about. And partly I just can't find the words for it. Am I just weird?

nalubeadsgirl · 16/03/2012 19:32

Still keep feeling like I'm about to start my AF! is this normal?! And weeing constantly!

Evilwater · 16/03/2012 19:46

Hello everyone,
Izzy - I'm sorry for your loss.

I've got a date of my first scan, I can't wait because then I can see that everything is ok. I also had a urine sample back, mass growth but no plan so I have to phone on Monday.

I'm feeling not to bad as I'm not allowed normal tea! I'm still feeling sick, but I have a headache.

Ew

Stuntnun · 16/03/2012 20:26

Regarding TEA, I have been pouring the water on to the tea bag (water has to be boiling), waiting for 30 seconds, pouring the water away then pouring more water on to the teabag. This seems to reduce the caffeine content quite drastically, so much so that I can drink it without feeling ill.

It was a tip from my mum (who's a midwife) but it's really handy at work as I can get myself a cup of tea without having to faff around with my own special decaf teabags that might alert people to my up-the-duff-ness.

Lilliana · 16/03/2012 20:28

Hi, is it too late to join you? I got a BFP this morning after 2 years of ttc and am due 21st Nov. All feeling a bit unreal at the moment as I try to let it sink in.

Evilwater · 16/03/2012 20:28

Stunt nun, the father has thrown out all the teabags. I don't care what he says I can taste its different.

blonderthanred · 16/03/2012 20:48

Welcome Lilliana!

Re: Tea, I am having decaff at home and a couple of non-decaffs at work, I thought that should be ok. Decaff does taste a bit funny, but it's enough to get through.

DH has just said, "can you ask your Mumsnet people if they can recommend any good books for prospective dads that aren't aimed at idiots?". Just putting that out there...
