Glad to hear the scan went well Dream

I didn't get any instructions with my ball so will give it another try tomorrow to see if it's any bigger.

Got my second private ante natal class tonight. It's all about position and active birth rather than how to look after a baby but I've just remembered that they said leaning forward can help turn a back to back baby as the spine is the heaviest part. If you lean forward then gravity will help to turn them so that the heaviest bit is down. Obviously there is no guaranteed method, some LOs like to be as awkward as they can before they get here :)

Biscuitsandtea · 23/02/2012 17:43

Yay for good scan news Dream - you're doing an excellent job growing those boys!!

Also glad you're effectively off now Too - I think the rest will do you good! It's, what, a couple of weeks until your CS date now? It won't do you any harm to rest a bit until then. And Shock at no GP appt until the end of March!!!!!!!!!! And a few !!!!!!! For good measure!

Has anyone heard / seen anything of Hawthers?

Biscuitsandtea · 23/02/2012 17:47

That's exactly what I'm hoping Jen - I'm hoping I can sit on it 'with my sitting bones down' a my yoga lady says, and then lean on it on all fours to get the spine to go forward.

DH was very amused that the baby is back to back because I sped too long reclining on the sofa and not enough on all fours scrubbing the floors Grin

musicalmrs · 23/02/2012 17:50

Oo, Purple, realised today (while on the train!) that I forgot to respond to your comment about watery discharge! I reckon that's precisely what it is. No more scary moments, and seeing the MW tomorrow anyway, so will check with her too.

Tonic water with quinine for leg cramp? Should that be drunk just before bed, or just in general? I'm still getting quite bad cramp, and am on a banana a day (not a fruit person, and it's one of the few I can put up with!), so they're clearly not helping!

Jen, you are precisely a week behind me (28+4 today). I've only recently felt the need to eat more, and hungry all the time! I was technically underweight before becoming pregnant, and I reckon my body's now working on trying to build up some fat reserves..!

Too, I can't eat much in one go at the moment - maybe it's because of that I'm eating smaller portions and more often, and thus feeling hungry more? Hmm! :) Also.. wow on the posh clothes! My LO will also be Tesco clad to begin with Grin. We also have quite a collection of knitted clothes heading in our direction too - it appears lots of our family and friends have dusted off their knitting needles!

Pop, I was also ravenous early on. Impressed that you already know precisely how much you've put on! I didn't dare get near the scales at an early stage! I also didn't know my precise weight - only roughly what it revolved around (mine tends to fluctuate quite a bit). I don't think the theatre tickets are necessarily a bad idea... depends how far you have to go to the theatre? Is it local or does it involve lots of transport?

Purple, I am also dithering over the rent or buy a TENS machine. I think I will buy one as it should help with my back pain should it reoccur, and I would love another child at some point (she says before she has one, knowing that this could put her off for life!) - so it may well get used. I suppose if it doesn't I could always gift it to a friend in need at some point, and they could just get new pads!

Too, hurrah for being pretty officially signed off of work! Jaggy, I'm also struggling with work. I don't mind the actual teaching element, but the travelling to/from/in between schools I'm really struggling with. I also have 5 weeks left - 5 precisely as I've got a day off tomorrow Grin. I would work for longer, but I hit my teaching quota for this term in five weeks time, and after that it's Easter, after which it's not worth me going back...

Pomme, I hope the sweep does help, albeit in its own time!

Scream, baby clothes wise I've bought very little. Three sleepsuits and three body suits in newborn! My thoughts are that DH would love to go out and buy more outfits for LO when it appears... and if he doesn't want to, then I can task my mother or my MIL with getting something each - they would both oblige and would both love it! We do have a couple of bigger items (gifts), and I did go out and buy hats!

Wonderful scan news Dream :)

Sorry for the mammoth post! Waiting around for my evening class, so had plenty of time to read back. I have a four day weekend now - HURRAH! Should be lovely - a day in London tomorrow (seeing a musical, eating lots, and probably visiting a few places), a lazy day on Sat with a friend staying the night, a day out somewhere on Sunday and DH's birthday on Monday. Oh - and a MW appointment first thing tomorrow too! Looking forward to relaxing a bit (the only bit of work I have to do is a half hour recording!), and to spending lots of quality time with DH for a change.

Haven't seen anything of Hawthers Biscuits, though have been thinking about her too..

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 23/02/2012 18:10

With all the talk of imminent No Brooker babies I've also been thinking about Hawthers and mini H a lot. I hope all is well and both boys are letting her get a bit of sleep.

Great news about being off work Too! Musical and Jaggy I hope the rest of your time flies by!

Boo to the postponement of Too's mw appt! It'll all be fine though, and nice of you not to drag her out when she thought she was finished for the day.

Popcorn I'm sorry I didn't respond to your theatre q earlier! Obviously as I've never been 36 weeks pg my opinion probably isn't very helpful anyway! However I've seen lots of women in my office still working at week 36 and they seem fine. Plus going to the theatre should be quite relaxing so I think it's a great plan!

Is it wrong that I'm on a complete retail therapy high after spending silly amounts online with Mothercare and now getting ready to head out and spend silly amounts in M&P this eve? Grin DH certainly thinks it's silly!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 18:13

biscuits i know you're not stalking me, we are just 'as one' Smile. i wont be surprised if you give birth to 2 babies not one big one Wink

pomme my money's still on labour 48 hours after sweep. at least your cervix was soft...

I use cot mattress protectors- i love the bibs n stuff ones from Boots- all cotton pretty much not plasticky feeling like others I saw. But in cot/ moses basket just folded muslin under head like everyone else, changed multiple times a night- I had a puker!!

I definitely want a section now too- imagine having to have one baby, then a bigger one- eek!! Plus they're around 50th centile for a singleton each, but heads over the 75th centile each- ouch!!! and exactly what dd was. And DD was 3.43 kg at birth, these 2 are 3.7kg together now, plus 2 placentas- no wonder I'm so much bigger than at term last time!

5 weeks left isn't too bad musical, and the long weekend sounds lovely.

DH and I arguing lots at the minute... hmm

I've not spotted hawthers anywhere either but think of her and her No Brooking baby lots.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 18:15

oh popcorn, I would have been fine at theatre then with DD- would have maybe had extra wee breaks and bit more shuffling to stay comfy but I was very active up til the end.

Biscuitsandtea · 23/02/2012 18:22

I totally missed your theatre qn Popcorn but I'm guessing from the answers or was to do with going to the theatre at 36 weeks? I'll be 36 weeks next Tues and I think I'd be ok - just as long as I didn't have to take DS with me and have him clambering all over me Confused.

As Dream says a bit more fidgety to stay comfy and more loo breaks but should be fine Smile.

Apologies if I've answered a different question - it's always dangerous hard to answer a question you haven't actually read Blush

Imps7 · 23/02/2012 18:31

Evenin' girls. Just popped in to say that I'm getting very excited about the next few weeks in the Land of No Brooking - so many new little ones arriving! Can't wait to hear all your news, and am hoping that you will post names, but if not for anonymity reasons then I will of course understand...and just assume you've called him/her Brook(e) :)

Biscuitsandtea · 23/02/2012 18:34

Lovely to see you as ever Imps Smile

NinjaChipmunk · 23/02/2012 21:15

pop you'll be fine at 36 weeks in the theatre I think. Enjoy!
Acid indegestion arrived yesterday and hasn't yet left, it's here for the duration isn't it? I'd better pop to the docs for a prescription tomorrow if I can.

I'm sure I had something prolific and life changing I wanted to say but have completely forgotten. Bean is having a quiet couple of days, I think she's moved position as the kicks/ pokes are much softer.

Wants3 · 23/02/2012 21:22

Ouch! I think I have a trapped nerve. I have a pain in my right buttock which has not been helped by sitting in uni lectures all day and then running a staff meeting this evening! Off to get in a warm bath now.

NinjaChipmunk · 23/02/2012 21:28

ouch indeed, hope the bath soothes it. A good stretch out when you go to bed might help to?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/02/2012 21:44

Ouch Wants, sounds painful. Is it like sciatica (pain radiating down the buttock)? I have discovered that just hoovering one room makes my buttocks ache Hmm and thus have been hobbling all evening and whimpering every time I have to get up to pee. Am also just about to get in a warm bath - snap!

Ninja, my heartburn has come and gone - Bean flipped over and it went for a couple of weeks, although it's creeping back now. So it might not be a constant visitor.

OP posts:
DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 21:45

Wondered where you'd got to ninja. Get on the gaviscon!

32 weeks today. 2 cups of rlt drunk, just in case.

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 21:50

My heartburn has not gone but will get pulverised with my new pills!!

Apparently there's only a 5% chance of emcs for twin 2 Hmm No help if you're one of them though...

How rubbish too, all that cleaning and rusting and now there's 4 days to mess it up again!!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/02/2012 21:51

Rusting?! Tidying. What got into my auto correct with that one!!??

scarletfingernail · 23/02/2012 22:20

I've just had a go at uploading a bump photo. Fingers crossed it's worked.
My 32 week growth scan is tomorrow morning, I'm more excited this time than I've been for previous ones. Probably because I can feel the baby wriggling so much now.

We had a workman free day today so DS and I made the most of it and have been out shopping for things to go in his lovely new bedroom once it's finished. We're nowhere near finished, the builder and plumber have both had to break off for other jobs temporarily but will be back next week.

dream yay for another lovely scan. The boys are growing so well. I bet you feel relieved now you've decided that you definitely want to go for ELCS.

wants I hope the warm bath has sorted you out.

so much been said on this thread today, I've forgotten most of what I've just read already.

fishcakefoxtrot · 23/02/2012 22:25

Hello I have been trying to catch up but everytime I get caught up with the thread I don't have time to post and then when I get back to it you lot have filled up another 2 pages Grin We have a week of rather interrupted sleep here- first because of the side effects from the steriod injections and then because DD has been generally under the weather- nothing specific, just not well and not sleeping. Am now exhausted and planning on a lengthy nap at the weekend.

Good to hear about your good scan Dream and I will be brooking no argument that things will swing into action over the weekend for pomme rendering the crochet hook entirely redundant!

I was very interested to read the thoughts on presents from the baby- we are planning to get DD a scooter anyway but I don't think that is really one to take into the postnatal ward... Will investigate the little Duplo sets as she loves Duplo. The Book People have a good deal on Elmer colouring books and sticker books so I am going to get her those, which should keep her occupied with minimal mummy involvement, and I am going to raid the Oxfam bookshop for a stack of new books to be whipped out at baby-feeding time. I was amused to read about your mum's present of paint, Biscuits- it was my birthday earlier in the week and my mum sent DD a book so that she wouldn't feel left out. Which meant I spent a significant portion of my birthday reading it over and over again. (Do other people's DCs insist on the same book being read on repeat?) My lovely best friend, in contrast, brought DD stickers meaning that I got to drink a cup of tea in peace while DD got creative Smile.

Speaking of birthdays, you are all so youthful! I feel so old- am now 33.

I too have horrible heartburn and have given up eating a proper evening meal as I just can't face it. Luckily I am rather partial to a bowl of cereal at the best of times, so am quite happy to have cornflakes for dinner.

Had a check up with the GP today. Everything seemed fine and blood pressure was verging on the low side! The GP weighed me, though, which was slightly alarming. I think I am a good stone heavier than DH now Shock. Too fancy a post-baby Shred buddy?

Biscuitsandtea · 24/02/2012 07:15

And your bump is looking gorgeous there Scarlet Grin

hawthers · 24/02/2012 07:35

Hello thanks for thinking of me - I've been lurking but not posting on this thread.

All ok ish here. Can't remember the last I shared with you guys but ds1's behaviour has picked up thank his. It took around 6 weeks but its def better than it was. Unfortunately ds2 is not gaining weight in line with the growth charts so we're I'm jumping through a lot of hoops to maintain bf. It's prob dye to the meningitis but still very stressful esp in light of ds1's issues in his early days. Basically reliving the weigh in nightmares of my first few months with ds1. Argh but oh well - at least he is well (although not chubby) and home with me.

Blimey that all sounds rather depressing! On the plus side ds2's smiles are like heaven Grin and ds2 is back to saying 'i luff mummy' so life is def not too shabby but unfortunately the worry I had whilst pg still hasn't gone away and I don't feel I can fully relax and enjoy at the moment.

Very excited to hear of any new brooking babies. I've been keeping a close eye.

Oh and I've put another pic of ds2 on my profile....

NinjaChipmunk · 24/02/2012 08:41

hawthers he's a little sweetie! Well done you on keeping up with the bf, and well done your ds1 for coming round to the whole thing and saying he luffs you. I hope you can start to relax soon and enjoy it a bit more.

scarlet lovely bump pic and good luck on your growth scan today.

fishcake I also find it very hard to catch up if I've been off here for a few days. Glad the bp was low but sorry you're not getting much sleep.

We're off on a playdate this afternoon and have a busy weekend ahead so not sure when I'll get back on after today. Hopefully Sunday at the least. Indigestion seems to have eased off a bit at least. What is everyone else up to today?

Biscuitsandtea · 24/02/2012 08:47

How lovely to hear from you Hawthers Smile

I'm so glad that DS1 is behaving better now - no doubt we'll need all your tips in a few weeks!! Grin

And it sounds as though you're doing a great job with the feeding to be sticking with it so well. It must be hard to enjoy it though, especially when it must bring back memories of the stress you had with DS1.

To be honest I'm not sure with DS1 that I managed to 'enjoy' those early weeks and we didn't have the weight issues. And then to top it all off you've spent time in hospital dealing with meningitis and all after a stressful pregnancy! You've been through the ringer and no mistake!

How old is little F now? He must be what? 10 weeks or so? I'm sure you're getting towards having everything on track though - just one step at a time. Have you seen your lactation boob lady again? Are you still getting plenty of support with the bf?

I had the weirdest feeling this morning - I had period pains and that sinking feeling of 'oh, another month that hasn't worked Sad' Hmm

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 24/02/2012 09:52

Two weeks today, two weeks today! Grin

Biscuits, could period pains be A Sign? Sometimes I wake up and think Bean has gone if she's quiet. I told DH this and he went Hmm and the giant tummy doesn't tip you off?

Ninja, I think your indigestion has jumped to me.

Hawthers, lovely to hear from you - F is so cute! Hope he starts putting on weight brilliantly very soon.

Fishcake, yes, we can Shred together and carry on the No Brooking spirit! Anyone else welcome to join too, naturally. I am going to weigh myself the day before the ELCS and then not look again until at least 6 weeks post-partum.

I didn't know steroid injections could mess up your sleep. Mine are booked in for Wed 7th and Thurs 8th, right before the section on Friday 9th. I don't think I'll sleep well on the Thursday night as it is - I'll be too excited!

Scarlet, that's a beautiful bump! Good luck with the scan today - hope all is well!
