PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 09:00

Lots of sad faces in that post! :) :) :o :o Thanks Brew should sort that out!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 09:02

Oh Dream maybe you can have ranitidine (sp?) or something prescribed?
Pomme I have a pregnant bum and thighs too lol!

PopcornMouse · 20/02/2012 09:31

I saw creme egg icecream in our co-op too :)

I really feel for you dream is there nothing stronger you can take than rennies? I have been living off them for the past month, too.

I am absolutely mentalling today. My parents are coming to stay next month and, with an abundance of boozie lunches on the cards as arranged by my sister, I can't see how I can not tell them I'm upduffed. I'll only been 10 weeks, I won't even have had a scan, I'm "high risk" and I'm just crapping myself I will miscarry and then I'll have to deal with another year of them looking at me expectantly every time we see oneanother Confused :(

Sorry that's a bit mememe but I'm panicking a bit Blush

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 09:43

Popcorn could you have a private scan? Some of the best money I have spent. Or would your GP refer you if are high risk? It is rubbish the worrying :(

Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 09:54

Popcorn - I'd agree that the private scan was the best money I've spent too - although I think DH was a bit disappointed that he'd spent £75 in about 5 minutes - no waiting around or anything you see for private. I think if he'd been made to wait like at the hospital he'd have felt he got better value for money Hmm. As Purple says though, if you're high risk maybe your GP would refer you for an early scan? If you go and explain how much it is stressing you out? If you aim for one no earlier than 8 weeks, then (I think) that's the sort of best mix of actually seeing a heartbeat and the chances of m/c having dropped quite substantially.

Dream - I think you're fibbing about having any stretch marks at all Wink. I might send your photo to a CSI lab for analysis because I don't think there are any there. I'm surprised you can't see my stretch marks through my clothes! It must be heavy though to be carrying that around - especially with poorly DD.

I also have pregnant bum and thighs, but I like to think that I always have pregnant bum and thighs, I just now have the bump to go with them Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 20/02/2012 10:15

Wants good luck for your GTT today!

Popcorn I'm another one who finds private scans very reassuring. 12 weeks felt like such a long time away from when I got my BFP, and there are a lot of scary statistics around if you spend too much time with Dr Google the way I do. You're a No Brooker though, and our stats are MUCH better than anything on Dr Google! It might be comforting for you to have the private scan or the GP early scan referral at 8 weeks though, at that point I really think the odds improve dramatically and it's so amazing to see your little bean for the first time! (When they're still too small to entertain themselves by kicking you in various organs throughout the day!)

Jen sorry to hear about the period pains, I hope those have gone now? I've been through several stretching phases so far, and each one felt like period pains to me. Usually they last 3-4 days, and then afterwards I can literally see the increased size of my bump! As everyone has said though if you're at all worried give your mw a call.

Biscuits I totally agree, in principle, with ignoring gender-stereotyping. My only worry is silly people making thoughtless comments, and if your DS is becoming more sensitive to people "mocking" him (even though you'd think an adult would know better!!) I would worry that letting DS buy a pink gift might cause him more hurt than pleasure in the long run. I just mean if he picks a pink rabbit, and you're out at the shops and someone makes the assumption that the LO is a girl, they might make a stupid comment like "well why would you give a boy a pink rabbit?!" without having any idea that it's DS's gift. If that kind of thing would affect him then it might be worth trying to avoid (although dictating what your son does in accordance with small-minded people is also not ideal! So if it wouldn't bother your DS then the rest of the world can go hang!)

PopcornMouse · 20/02/2012 10:23

Thanks for all the reassuring words guys. It was the "I've had 2 mmc and I can't get pg again and it's been three years" post in conception that tipped me over the edge I am a worrier Blush

I'll be speaking to the GP about my bloods on Wednesday so I'll ask her about the possibility of a scan, but if she's not willing, I'm seriously considering a private one (thanks for the suggestion, it's a great idea and would really set my mind at ease :) ). I've had a google and there is somewhere nearby that will do it for £99. DH is a bit of a tightwad :o but he knows how much I'm mentalling so I think he would agree :o

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 10:44

I know how you feel Popcorn I had Dd then a Mc at 10 weeks, then didn't get pregnant for 7 months only to have a chem pg, happily I was pg again a couple of cycles later with this one now 37+3.
I was so paranoid and just waiting for it to go wrong! Still an element of this although I embrace the no brooking spirit! My scan was 7+4 in the end and was really reassuring, worth every penny.
Also, maybe stop hanging around in conception, I was so down for a while because you hear so many sad tales there. Although, it was a haven of support as was the mc boards when I needed them, sometimes you need to step away for a bit. At least I needed to!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 20/02/2012 11:24

I got to work at 9.30 in the end, and have to leave at 4 to let the dog out before he pees on the rug Blush. Thank God for flexi time.

Popcorn, they might refer you for an early scan for free. I had two - one at 6+5 and one at 8+5. At the first one the sonographer could only just see the hb and couldn't even tell which way up Bean was! She is a much-photographed Bean (have had 8 scans including the amnio one). The EPU were great - they just went ahead and booked me in for the first 2 scans for reassurance, and if I'd phoned them in a panic they'd have arranged me another one before my 12 week scan. Brooking No Argument that you will persuade your MW to refer you for an early scan!

Purple, your bump does look lower! Does it feel lower - less heartburn, more peeing? (Scientific approach, clearly.)

I also have pregnant bum and thighs, and arms Sad. My bum is definitely less pert because I can barely walk for 10 minutes without pain. Also, I was doing the Shred before I got pg and it really toned my bum, which has now all gone. Never mind, I WILL take Bean for long walks, and I WILL Shred (after a suitable period of time post-section) and I WILL lose lots of weight with the magic BF diet...

Purple, it is a relief for me to be having an ELCS but DH is now having nightmares that I die during it. Sad The relief afterwards is going to be tremendous for us both, and I'm glad that my mum and stepdad will be staying at ours to look after DH that night. Also that he has 4 weeks off work for a babymoon, in which he can just gradually calm down and relax and generally recover from the stress of the last year. And I get to have him there for me, which is brilliant from my point of view too.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 11:52

Too your poor DH Sad. I guess for our menfolk it's all totally out of their hands Sad. And as you say, the year you've both been through is something else. I think it'll be great for your DH to have someone there to look after him the night of the CS as he's going to be completely drained - as of course you both will, but it will be a comfort to both of you to know that while you're being looked after in hospital, he's being looked after at home. And your 4 week babymoon will be just the ticket for both of you.

I meant to say earlier too Purple your bump does look different today!!! The only way the baby can have gone is down!!

I'm am starting to freak out that I'm getting more pelvis aches etc, less heartburn, more peeing etc, even lots of poos (sorry TMI Blush). We have the consultant appt tomorrow for our next scan and I'm scared they'll tell me it's starting to engage. Although I know babies can engage ages before labour starts, and then unengage and so on, but eeeek! I'm just so scared because I'm only 35 weeks tomorrow.

Although DH did think it would be convenient for him now Hmm. Perhaps I should see if I can sneeze the baby out while we're there tomorrow - that would presumably be extra convenient, especially if we could still be back to get DS from nursery Grin

Wants3 · 20/02/2012 13:47

Hi all, GT bloods done, they also took some for routine antibodies and iron I think. About 4 vials! Feeling a bit wiped out now and very sore arm. Luckily I don't have to work today so am relaxing for a bit. I thought I deserved a twix extra to get my sugar and energy up ( definitely medicinal!)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 14:00

Too your poor DH :( The time off will be lovely for your baby moon and a real period for healing. I had DH for 8 weeks when Dd was born and it was wonderful.
Lucky you with Flexitime, I am jealous if my inlaws flexitime but then Dh work are pretty good.

I think the baby will fall out if he goes any lower! Awesome. Wink I am sure it is normal, but I am slightly worried as it is a big change in a short period of time and never had this with Dd. Confused

I am concerned about my pg bum.etc purely because of this wedding! I need this baby out asap so that I can look less like a train wreck + have feeding established, since these pics will be following me around forever and I want to look good. If it wasn't the wedding I would have the summer to get in shape which is a great time to lose weight.etc I feel quite stressed by it at times, which I am hoping is just the hormones! Oh and Dh is no help as he just says you look lovely.etc which is sweet but doesn't make me feel any better.

Biscuits don't worry about the baby engaging at 35 weeks, if UBB arrives then they will be fine especially if you sneeze em out. :) DS was ok at 36+6 wasn't he? I was thinking of you when I was 36+6 actually, if this one makes a slightly early appearance it might be just that you are a fast baker?

DreamingOfPeace · 20/02/2012 14:23

biscuits, my step sister and 2 friends have had their babies at 35 weeks- no special care or any problems with any of them so don't panic whatever happens, your UBB will be fine! I will be perfectly happy with anything from 34 weeks on- in fact anytime from now (can you tell I'm still feeling rough?!). And earlier = slightly smaller = slightly less tear risk, no?! Smile I love the fast baker idea- go with that.

purple, OMG, I can't believe how low your baby is... how many wees so far today Wink ?!

I do think I've got some rather rapidly worsening pregnant bum and thighs. Maybe I should cut back to one creme egg a day... and cut out the rest of the chocolate, ice cream and junk food

too, you are in work- good show in my opinion, they should be impressed you're still there!

popcorn, I think if you're high risk you're more likely to get an early scan on the NHS. I am the only one who's very glad not to have had an early scan, because if I'd seen twins earlier I would have mentalled beyond belief about vanishing twin! I got a bit mental about it seeing 2 wriggly babies at 12 weeks Hmm. I do think the majority of people find them really reassuring though. I'm doing Rennies/Gaviscon combination but not helping very much. If tonight is as bad I will go to the GP. I was mostly up with DD til 3am- she was up kind of hourly, and the clingy-ness means it takes me forever to put her down again, and then the freaking heartburn kept me up- so bad I was nearly in tears, but I do think a lot of that has to do with general exhaustion now. 5 out of 6 nights up a lot with DD and I'm struggling +++ to nap in the day so... How are your symptoms so far? And there are lots of high riskers on here- too, pomme, Hawthers, fishcake, me and others who've had a tough time getting or staying pg like purple, scarlett, ninja and biscuits and everyone so far is just fine- as you will be. You're a No Brooker!! Also, I had my hen do and wedding at 6 and 8 weeks pg. People didn't find out. You can try the old wine glass swap, so you sip gingerly at it, and when your DH has nearly finished his you swap glasses (worked a treat for me on hen night- whoever is taking one for the team tends to get a bit more pissed than they'd like though!), or find an excuse not to drink sometimes, or if you're out ask for the soft drink to be put in a spirit glass. Lifesavers Grin

wants, clearly medicinal. And you're the one who's lost weight not gained so the odd treat should be allowed Grin

WHINGE ALERT: So, no signs of early labour for me- still loads of braxton-hicks but no change, no period pain, still shed loads of heartburn and reflux, weeing 10,98737 times a day (and night) but again no change there. I am so big and uncomfortable I can't imagine another 6 weeks 3 days of this... And my rib pain is getting unbearable. That's a particularly silly thing to say because of course I will have to bear it, but... However, I will get to term.

DreamingOfPeace · 20/02/2012 14:34

oh- nd I did think that was silly posting that on baby names as soon as I'd done it Blush

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 14:57

Wants there is now an official ratio of choc per vial, it was one creme egg per vial, but it should be a choc of your choice!

Scream are you feeling better now??

Oh I still have heart burn although less and not weeing any more, sorry to dash people's hopes there! I think it is because I have been on my birthing ball a lot!

Dream ask for your post to be deleted, I had to do this when I wrote where I live, just the town but we usually talk in very obvious to locals code on my local thread. I have worked out I have only 30 days left of being pregnant, which to me sounds better than 4 weeks +! It does seem such a long time to wait I hope you have some relief from it all soon. Maybe try a birthing ball? They are comfy :)

Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 15:06

Has anyone thought about what to take for labour snacks / drinks yet?

So far I've got some elevenses bars and DH will no doubt take some sandwiches, oh and some lucozade tablets. Then for drinks I've got some cartons of apple juice with straws, bottles of water and maybe a bottle or two of lucozade? Lucozade only because I bought a multi pack of little bottles to make bean wriggle and have some left Smile

Any suggestions?

DreamingOfPeace · 20/02/2012 15:20

I've still done nothing about a hospital bag! Snacks, I think cereal bars, creme egg (of course) water, but cartons a good idea, peppermint tea (because of course I'll make my section date)

Rubbish, dd awake crying

Wants3 · 20/02/2012 15:20

dream I had lost weight but don't know how long that will last as my bump has grown again and I have been eating more cake and choc. I do still walk abit but that is about all the excersise I do ATM . I do have 6 creme eggs in the cupboard for future medical emergencies. Sorry to hear about your lack of sleep through poorly DD and heartburn:( that is something I have not suffered from yet. Lowering the tone abit but has anyone else suffered from really itchy nips or is it just me?
No brooking that all the niggly pains some of you are experiencing are positive preparations for those who are close to term and just annoying pregnancy symptoms for those who are not!

DreamingOfPeace · 20/02/2012 15:28

Got her asleep on ny bump.

Never thought of that purple, have reported my post to mn so hopefully it'll be deleted.

In other snacks thoughts, not keen on dried fruit as tmi but gives me wind which I hear is a problem post CS anyway and painful, so not sure... Fresh fruit, crisps, hmm...

DreamingOfPeace · 20/02/2012 15:31

Oooh, maybe malt loaf! That's filling

Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 15:34

Ah yes Dream I'm sure there might be a creme egg or two sneak in for my reward!! Good job I'm not at the OBEM hospital - I'd totally out myself scoffing CEs in labour Blush

Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 15:39

I'm really struggling to eat any fruit at the mo as my stupid tongue is so sore, it just sets my mouth on fire to have any fruit on it. Even some veggies set it off. I can't even deal with fruit flavoured yogurt - honestly! Hmm

Malt loaf a good call though. Will add it to my shopping list.

Cam imagine how you deal with a sleeping child in your bump Dream - you're amazing!!

Wants - glad you got your GTT etc done. Are the other bloods your 28 week ones? That should save you having them done my your mw? Definitely agree with a medicinal twix after that. Is a twix extra something different?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 15:49

I haven't done anything r.e snacks! I think cereal bars or I like those nutty yoghurty go natural I think they are called? Got them with boots meal deal... Sugar tablets, maybe drinks for Dh or I could be partial to ribena. However, I was vomiting all the way through my labour so not holding out much hope! When I was being induced Is topped in Tescos and bought a pasta salad one of their big ones and ate it just before everything kicked off it was perfect as gave me plenty of energy!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 20/02/2012 15:51

Biscuits if your tongue is still sore go to docs, you could have oral thrush or something that needs treated?

Biscuitsandtea · 20/02/2012 15:56

ooooh, I've never even heard of oral thrush.

I think it seems to be getting better at the same rate my cold is, and it came on at the exact same time as my cold last week so I think I'll maybe give it a few days to see the end of this cold off and then go.

Or I might mention it in passing to the consultant tomorrow - do you think she'd know what she was looking for, or if it was a pregnancy related thing?

I'm not holding out much hope to actually eat much in labour either. I had a sandwich the night before, just before DH was sent home, but I was sick after that. Then I tried a cereal bar during labour and couldn't eat it at all. Hence the energy tablets. Imagine if I get in there and I'm starving - I'll feel really cheated that I haven't prepared better snacks! DH said 'oh, if we need food I'll just pop down to the canteen and get something.' Errrrrr, no you won't actually if I am in labour! Hmm You don't get out of it that easily. And if we're there in the middle of the night I don't think they'll open the shop just for him!
