Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

Hi All, sorry it's taken so long for me to get the news to you, but had no computer this week.

Caroline Frances Evans was born on Saturday 15th April (my parents 45th wedding anniversary Grin) at 5.29pm US time, weighing 9lbs 101/2oz and measuring 211/2 inches. We are delighted with her and DD1 seems very taken too, although a little more cranky and clingy than usual with us.

So here are the details. I went to the hospital on Saturday for my induction and was actually having some contractions on my own, but they speeded things up with the pitocin. Built up fairly gradually so the first bit took a good while, but wasn't painful. Once I got to 3cm they broke my water and things intensified dramatically after that so I got my epidural, but that actually slowed things for a while so they gradually upped the amount of pitocin again. At 4pm I was 5-6 cm and thought I was going to be there a while, then suddenly at 5pm I felt enormous pressure and really had to breathe through the contractions despite the fact my epidural was in full effect. Called the doc and nurse but they were with another woman who was already pushing and they thought they had a while for me so they didn't come immediately. By 5.15 I thought the baby was coming on her own, so dh went and got them, they checked and she was indeed right there. I had to hang on while they got things ready, and then literally did three pushes and she was out!!! Had a 2nd degree tear but didn't feel that cos of the epidural.

All mercifully straightforward and about as pain free as you can manage. It was afterwards that I felt bad. I just started shaking, which is really common after all the adrenalin etc, but this just didn't ease up and got pretty violent. They took my temp and it was 102.7 and then I just started throwing up violently and was drifting in and out of sleep - it was really weird. This went on until about 10pm, when I just suddenly came round and felt better and that was it. It did mean they stuffed me full of antibiotics just in case and meant they wouldn't let me home the next day, which pissed me off as I wanted to get back to Phoebe, but she was fine with Mum.

Shall go and check out our post natal thread now...

petunia · 22/04/2006 19:32

congratulations colditz and MrsEvs. Grin Grin

Ponka · 22/04/2006 22:46

Congratulations you two. Welcome to the world of no sleep Grin

Won't be long for the rest of you now.....

pepperrabbit · 23/04/2006 14:49

congratulations MrsEvs!
is it my imagination or has everyone except allyco had a the same sex baby as their first child??? (allyco had had a pretty good run at girls already though! Smile)
pepper stands back and waits to be corrected!

DebitheScot · 23/04/2006 15:11

Congratulations MrsEvs and Colditz. There can't be many of us left now!

Pepperrabbit- yes I will be at Frimley, hopefully they'll be able to fit me in. I think they ideally would've booked me in to be induced before Thursday but that was the first space in the diary they had. A couple of other people who've had babies there over the past few weeks have given pretty similar reports to yours, that the care on delivery suite was excellent but then not so good on the ward afterwards as they were so busy.

Emma7 · 23/04/2006 16:28

Congratulations you two! Grin
Things seem to be happening here but then stop - very frustrating. Had a pink show all last night and some bleeding so went in to check the cause of the bleeding and still nothing (sorry if TMI!). Don't seem to be having any contractions but have got period type pains. Doctor who examined me said I could be another week or so Shock I thought bleeding was a sign that it was definately strting to happen.

colditz · 23/04/2006 17:12

Ohhhh Emma7 that was almost exactly how mine all started off.

Brilliant, Colditz andMrsEvs! Morelovely crazy babies... Emma, hopingit's all startingtohappenforyou too.

Emma7 · 24/04/2006 17:41

Started having contractions at 4am this morning. They were 5 mins apart at one point but then slowed down. I'm now very tired as I haven't been able to sleep through them - they are getting very painful but still not regular and some are over 10 mins apart so hospital keep telling me not to go in. If the pain gets any worse I think I will just go in anyway.
Hopefully by tomorrow morning it will all be over and I will be cuddling my baby Grin Grin

Ponka · 24/04/2006 21:26

How exciting, Emma. Good Luck!

carol3 · 24/04/2006 22:19

good luck emma hope all goes well Smile

Homsa · 25/04/2006 15:27

Just checking in to say our lovely little Mia arrived on Friday 21st at 6.25 in the morning, after a VERY short labour (was fully dilated when we arrived at the hospital!). She was 4 kg and is feeding and sleeping beautifully. Unfortunately, I've got a 3rd degree tear and only got home from hospital yesterday. Very sore, and very prone to attacks of diarrhea, but hoping I'll get better soon.

Congrats to everyone else who's just had a baby, I'll read up on you guys later!

Homsa

pepperrabbit · 25/04/2006 15:38

Congratulations Homsa - Mia is a lovely name - and a good size too!
Emma7 - exciting news - good luck, hopefully by now you have your baby.
It's very exciting all these new little people in the world!

Ponka · 25/04/2006 22:57

Congratulations Homsa and welcome Mia.

petunia · 26/04/2006 08:06

congratulations Homsa and welcome to Mia.

Might not be long for me now. I've woken up this morning and think I've had a show. I've rung the hospital and they've told me to keep and eye on things.

DebitheScot · 28/04/2006 13:11

Hi just a quick message to say that baby Cameron arrived on Tuesday morning at 9.00am weighing 9lb 1oz. Got home ysterday after being observed for blood presure (which is still high). Was kept in when I went in for monitoring on Monday afternoon, got given a sweep to see how favourable I was (very!) and was then going to be induced in the morning. Didn't need to be though as I woke up to contractions every 10mins at about 3.15am, by 4.00 they were every 5 (midwifes not believing I was in labour at this point!), eventually convinced them to have a look at about 6.30 where I was told "oh, your 7-8cm dilated, we'd better get you to delivery and get your husband in". At 9.00 he was born and is now doing well apart from not knowing what sleep is!

FirstTimer40 · 28/04/2006 13:57

Hi all
I do still exist and am now a mummy (the computer crashed about my due date 1 April and has only just been fixed). I have not had time to read the thread so just adding a qucik message here and will catch up properly soon
Congrats to all who have had babies.
Jack Samuel was born on 13 April at 2 weeks overdue after a long (painful, exhausting and frustrating) induction lasting 4 days !! Prostin didnt work, gave me loads of pain but no dilation, had to have pethedine as wasnt coping. Then brave doc broke my waters through my 1cm dilation, 20 hr labour (including epiddural) until fully dilated, hour and half of pushing and his head was not descending and his heart rate dipping so ended up with emergency caesarean. He was born healthy and well , yelling as he came out the slot and weighing a great 9lb 7oz (hence the not fitting through my pelvis bit). Me bit knackered from op and all the drugs but ecstatically happy. He is totally gorgeous and thriving (weighs 10lb at 2 weeks old) and breastfeeding going well). Have to go and feed him now but will read thread properly as soon as get a minute (ha ha)
Is there a postnatal thread or are we keeping going on this one ? Will post birth story gory details when have strength, still a bit of a traumatic memory
Love to all Grin

MrsEvs · 28/04/2006 17:33

Congrats everyone - lots more lovely babies Grin Grin!!!

See you all on the post natal thread which I imagine will take a few weeks to really get going as everyone is busy dealing with life with a newborn!

Ponka · 28/04/2006 22:38

Congrats Debi and FT40! See you on the Postnatal thread, I hope.

Emma7 · 29/04/2006 05:02

Hello all - congrats to Homsa, Debbie and FirstTimer Grin

Sophie Grace arrived on Tuesday at 9.12.pm weighing 8lb 2oz. It was a long and dramatic birth - I only just escaped an emergency c-section and she was born in the operating theatre by ventouse they gave me 3 pushes and she came out on the third one! It was totally worth it - she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen (despite a very bruised head!) Grin Grin

Ponka · 30/04/2006 00:05

Well Done Emma!

petunia · 30/04/2006 19:42

Am I the last one to deliver?
Baby Emily Rose arrived Thursday 6.14am after a very quick labour. Arrived at hospital at 3.30am, only 2cms dilated and the midwife was determined that she was going to give me some paracetamol, send me to a ward, and send DH home until things kicked off a bit. After 10 minutes on the ward, my waters broke, I said I wanted to push and they whisked me up on a bed back to the delivery suite. I eventually got some gas/air (the nurses were still saying that because I was only 2cms, it was too early) and little Emily arrived at 6.14am. I was home 4 hrs later.

pepperrabbit · 30/04/2006 20:54

Wow - loads of babies since I last logged on!
Congrats everyone, Petunia, DebitheScot, Emma7 and FirstTimer40 - not sure who's left now so we can all scurry over to post natal, anyone awake enough to type that is!
Pepperrabbit goes into retentive mode:

  • Secreteater, icklesmudge, bugsy38, jifda and curzybabies are the only ones I can see from the original lists and not sure if they're all posters, though secreteater & icklesmudge certainly did? (apologies to anyone else I've missed - didn't scroll through whole thread!)
Ponka · 30/04/2006 21:22

Congratulations Petunia. Sounds like this thread is nearly done. Ooooh I'm all sad and nostalgic (after so desperately wanting it to all happen before April) Sad.
