Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

well, the way the midwife put it, if she accidently pops the membrane while she is doing the sweep, the cord could pop out before the baby's head gets chance to engage, and get strangulated during labour Shock

So, best not to really.

Tummy has shrunk! Baby Angelica born 11.50pm on Thursday 13th. Took 48 hours and she came out with forceps but I got my VBAC! Unfortunately a rather poorly and jet-lagged dh coudn't cope and had a panic attack for first time in his life and we sent him home 8 hours before baby was born. As you can imagine that made things worse emotionally. I was calling the doctor while starting stage 2 of labor to try and get him seen! But I had my doula and she was FABULOUS! Doula's rule.
Wasn't a good experience overall I'm afraid but it was effectively a first labour for me. i was monitored all the time although baby showed next to no distress. Most of the staff and hospital were great apart from a crap midwife who I had for both night shifts. She messed up my canula and told everyone I had dilated to 6 cms 10 hours before I did! Might have been managed differently had we known...Angry
It took 36 hours to get to 6 cms by which time I was so exhausted I had an epidural. Which only worked on one side whatever they did! Pushed for 2 hours although was only meant to do one. With dh gone I'm afraid by then I was very distressed and moaning like a little girl., "I've had enough, make it stop" etc. I was wheeled to theatre and they tried to make the epidural work but couldn't - with me getting more and more distressed. Finally a spinal went in..and relief. It took a while with me pushing quite well when told but ventouse didn't work so used forceps. I had an episiotomy. DD2 started out with apgar of 6 but soon went up to 10.
I was awake all thay night but napped a bit when a very weepy and apologetic dh came in next day. I was allowed home at 6pm on Friday. Very happy now, but very swollen and sore! I adore dd2 - all worth it in the end and I know I'll heal better and quicker than with the cs. Smile

congratulations Tonton!

Envy but Smile for you

Good luck Mrs. Evs. Hope it went well!

Congratulations Tonton. So pleased for you.

Homsa · 16/04/2006 10:26

Congratulations Tonton, you must be so relieved to finally get the baby out! I'm amazed they let you labour for that long after your previous cs. Thank heavens you had your doula with you for moral support!

allyco · 16/04/2006 11:39

BRILL news tonton and what a lovely name. I too am surprised they "let" you go that long for a VBAC delivery. I don't think they'd allow it at my hospital!

Am still here too. Was up again all last night with pains which have pased off again now. Am totally and completely pissed off with everything now. Have apointment at hospital at 2.30pm tomorrow when I think they are going to try a sweep. I am praying like mad that it will work because if it doesn't the next step is a section Sad.

Hopefully MrsEvs is now postnatal too so hugs to you. Had wanted to send you them before the event Mrs Evs but when I logged onto the site again on Friday got the message that everything was down until yesterday and then of course by then it was too late.

Colditz - are YOU doing anything???? xx

Emma7 · 16/04/2006 13:13

Congratulations Tonton Smile and MrsEvs (hope you are also cuddling your baby as I write this!)

I hope that the Easter Bunny brings us some more happy, healthy babies Grin

colditz · 16/04/2006 13:16

hiya guys, do you mind if I hijack to say the end's in sight for u all, hope u all have quick/easy labours, the end result is well worth it!

pepperrabbit · 18/04/2006 21:30

Congratulations Tonton!!! sounds pretty epic but worth it in the end.
I did my first solo trip with DS's today - only took an hour to get ready to leave the house!! My milk came in last thursday and my chest is still rock hard and very very painful - and I'm bottle feeding Shock. Have flirted with mastitis all weekend - hot flushes etc but can only take nurofen to keep it at bay as massage would make the milk more plentiful even while clearing the blockage.
The whole point of bottle feeding was to avoid the mastitis nightmare I had last time Angry .My midwife actually said she'd never seen anyone get mastitis and suppress their milk at the same time! May have to go to the doctors - DS1 cannot understand why Mummy can't cuddle him Sad.
I'll stop whinging now and heave my chest off to bed!
Here's looking forward to more babies - pepperrabbit tries to send out labour vibes...

Grin Grin

Timothy Patrick arrived at 4.09am today, weighing 9lbs 2ozs (yes, even with all that spewing up!!) with a mop of black hair and the biggest blue eyes.

Got home from hospital 4.15pm, he is BFing like a dream already and we are all totally besotted.

AND I GOT MY VBAC!!!

Will post gory birth announcement once I come down from the ceiling.

Aren't I a clever girl??

Ponka · 18/04/2006 23:33

Hurrah Allyco! Well done.

Colditz, any news? Only a couple of days to go now, whatever happens.

Cheers Munz. It's already happened for a fair few of us and I agree, it is well worth it!

DS2 is a little star. He hardly cries at all, which is just as well because DS1 has fallen ill and is crying a huge amount and waking in the night again, bless him. Sod's law!

Oh why oh why am I on Mumsnet now instead of getting some sleep??!!!

Ponka · 18/04/2006 23:37

Oh yes, and FT40, you have to have some news now, being over 2 weeks overdue?

Also, have started Post- Natal club for April, if anyone has time to join me.

Emma7 · 19/04/2006 07:39

Fab news Allyco - and welcome to the world Timothy Patrick Grin!

So glad things went well - they didn't keep you in for very long then.

Hope the mastitis clears up soon Pepper - sounds very painful Sad

Any of you busy new mums got any tips about what started you off in the end?

Homsa · 19/04/2006 10:45

Well done allyco, I'm so pleased for you! Smile You must be over the moon that everything went well and you're not pregnant any more!!!

I'm now 1 week overdue and struggling a bit to remain philosophical ... DH in particular is starting to get on my nerves, every time I so much as sigh he jumps up and asks "are you having a contraction?" Had acupuncture for the first time in my life yesterday, which was VERY unpleasant for a needle phobic like me, but it did bugger all to bring on labour. Well, I didn't really believe it would anyway. I've got another appointment with the consultant tomorrow, I think they may try to do a sweep, so I'm putting all my hopes on that now!

How are doing Colditz? I saw your thread in Childbirth, sounded like something was about to happen, I got really excited for you!

Sorry to hear about your mastitis pepper, I've had it twice and it can be absolutely awful. Hope it clears up soon!

pepperrabbit · 19/04/2006 17:49

Well done allyco!!!! congratulations!
I was so worried after all your illness all the way through - sounds like he was making the most of anything you managed to keep down to bulk himself up!
congratulations again.
ponka - shall look for the post natal thread....

tonton · 19/04/2006 19:18

pepper rabbit how awful! Shock I had mastitis twice last time and it is what I am most scared of this time - even more than sleep deprivation! Please keep us posted on your progress. On the post-natal thread maybe?

Yeay allyco, at last! Smile

Mirage · 19/04/2006 21:20

Good luck for tomorrow Colditz.

Emma7 · 21/04/2006 07:26

It has gone very quiet on this thread - am I the only one left Sad?
It's my due date tomorrow but I've accepted the fact that I will probably be around on here for another couple of weeks!
I had a show on Wednesday night (quite a lot of it too, clear no blood) sorry if TMI!!!Got excited but then nothing else happened. Went in for monitoring yesterday as midwife thought my waters might be leaking (protein in urine) but nothing.
Had loads of pineapple, raspberry leaf and will go out for a hot curry tonight Wink

petunia · 21/04/2006 09:50

Emma7- I'm still here. Due next Friday but I went over by 1wk with DDs so think I'll be around for a while as well.

icklesmudge · 21/04/2006 13:48

Emma Im still here as well!

I am now 8 days over due and getting more fed up as the days go past!! Had a membrane sweep yesterday which has prompted my plug to come away. It is still coming away today! But nothing else as of yet! Now on hospital visits every other day till monday then everyday! Lets hope something happens soon!

DebitheScot · 21/04/2006 17:09

I'm still here too. Although thought I wasn't going to be. Midwife came to house today to check bp as its been high and sent me to hosp for monitoring as she also found a trace of protein. Hosp did blood tests which were normal so they've sent me home again but have to go back for same again on Monday and then am booked in for induction on Thursday eve (unless they keep me in on Monday or it happens before then). I made some comment about why couldn't they just do it now and she said "oh there's no space at all on delivery so you'd be having it in the car park" So now I'm hoping I don't go into labour tonight!

Its good that the end is now max 1 week away rather than 2 but its my birthday next Friday and I really didn't want it to be born on my birthday.

DebitheScot · 21/04/2006 17:10

Thats a lie, my birthday is Saturday!

pepperrabbit · 22/04/2006 10:27

DebitheScot - are you at Frimley Park? It was absolutely packed when I was there last week for Freddie's birth (and the week before for his non-birth!) They had babies everywhere! on the antenatal wards and everything, but, even though they were busy I can't fault the care I rec'd, my midwife was excellent and while you might have to wait for a bedpan, if you're having a crisis you're in good hands. Hope that helps!
Good luck to everyone still waiting - it really can't be long now!

colditz · 22/04/2006 13:19

I am back!

I had a baby boy named Daniel Edward on 18th April (Tuesday). He was 8lb 3 oz. I've got a birth announcment knocking abouyt somewhere.

I basically got the birth I wanted, but did have to go to my consultant hospital. I went back to the birth centre for some aftercare though, and only came home yesterday!.

After a 42 hour induced labour with my first, to have a 4.45 hour labour with the second was bliss. I had gas and air for pain relief, screamed solid for ages, and have no tears cuts or grazes!Shock

However, a warning to all you first time mothers - DO YOUR PELVIC FLOORS, I have had a slight prolapse which although not painful is hideous in the extreme.
