Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

pepperrabbit · 23/01/2006 18:27

Well done Colditz - no more blood tests for a while then.
I sort of passed my glucose test, high but just below diabetic so I have to carry on with the diet and go back at 34 weeks for another glucose test - so it's just like last time but I don't have to start stabbing my fingers 3 x a day yet! and I've had 6 months to get used to no cake.
I have to say there was a girl at the hospital who can have been no more than 14, there with her mum - I did feel sorry for her, she looked bemused by the whole thing and sat clutching her notes the whole time .
On a more cheerful note, did anyone else get to do the combined challenge this morning of weeing in a pot while simultaneously reading "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" - or was it just me!

allyco · 23/01/2006 20:59

colditz - you are very brave!

Ponka · 24/01/2006 23:28

I woke up this morning with a big ring on my pyjamas under one of my boobs. I briefly entertained the possibility that I could have some how dribbled in my sleep but I really think it's milk already! Anyone else had any signs?

I know what you all mean about feeling really tired. It didn't hit me so much last pregnancy but I supose I wasn't running around with a little one then. I'm going to hit work with a shock tomorrow. I'd like to bring my leaving date forwards from the 20th to the 1st March. I don't think they are going to be happy about it but they can't really stop me. I'm feeling tired and Mum has offered to keep watching DS so that I can take it easy a bit. How can I refuse?!

I'm also starting to get the urge to buy nice, small and cute little outfits in the shops. So far I've managed to resist.

MrsQ - due 30.3.06 aged 34, DH 33, DS 2.7. Expecting 2nd DS. Despite / because of lenght of first process (contractions started Sunday, DS born 5.10am Tuesday), am seriously considering homebirth for this one

Everest and everyone keeps reminding me of that fact every time they see me with all the (it's not twins is it? gags etc.). I'm getting really worried about the birth because DS had a really rough start and I am terrified of history repeating itself.

allyco · 25/01/2006 09:24

another tired one here! last night I was downstairs on settee by 12.30am becuse of DH's poxy snoring.

I'm hoping to stay at work until the end of March giving me two weeks before little man puts in an appearance. Having said that of "all" my other births the two normal ones were both early, one by a week and one by three weeks, so I may end up leaving sooner than I expect that'll make my boss happy...

tonton · 25/01/2006 17:03

Not sleeping all that well. Have bought one of those maternity-cushion-bean-bag things that is a bit like having an extra body in the bed!!! Still not all that comfy though and I always seem to wake upon my back. Poor baby!

colditz · 26/01/2006 09:53

I found that having about 6 - 8 small pillows in the bed, to tuck around various bodyparts, really helped me sleep last time and is working this time.

It helps to make your dp sleep in another bed too, this sounds like a joke but nothing disturbs me more than having to accomodate someone else in the bed when I am not comfortable already.

OP posts:
allyco · 26/01/2006 12:33

colditz you hard woman making DP go in another bed - it's always me that ends up elsewhere

read your other thread about work. What a bunch of tossers. If it helps I am having a hell of a time with my boss right now (am almost scared to type in case, somehow, he finds out!!).

I'm chanting "it's only til the end of March" over and over. The way I'm feeling it ymay not be after that because right now I am deffo considering really not going back ....

Have you been signed off yet?

allyco · 26/01/2006 12:35

Although to be honest DH didn't snore last night. We were up to DD 8 times though with her cough and cold.

I must be mad doing this again!

colditz · 26/01/2006 12:49

Har yes I was up with ds's 3rd sick bug in 3 weeks! It's all a bit different when it's not your first, isn't it?!

No, I haven't been signed off yet, I think I would feel a bit cheeky! And I hate to admit it, I will feel a bit of a quitter to leave so early, but there you go.

I've got 5 days off work now anyway, so might go and see the doc tomorrow and see what he says.

OP posts:
colditz · 26/01/2006 12:52

MrsEvs · 27/01/2006 21:53

Well I passed my glucose test - hurrah!! So don't have to do the horrid 3 hour fasting one again like I did last time. Also had my repeat scan today and they were able to get the measurement they missed the last time so that's good. Won't get the proper report from the doctor for another week but she said all looked well. She also said that the baby already weighed about 3.5lbs, so looks like I'm in for another whopper!

Just this week I have started to feel noticeably bigger and uncomfy, so God knows what we'll all be like in 10 more weeks!!!

Ponka, I too had a bit of boob leakage a few weeks ago actually but nothing again since. I think there are things starting to happen in that area now.

Have a good weekend everyone!

colditz · 29/01/2006 11:55

We will feel like over ripe tomatoes, just about to split our sides.

I get boob leakage every day, not a lot of it, but enough to wet a spot on my nightie!

Congrats on the glucose test, I don't know about mine yet.

I did get my first ever iron count result though!! Usually they fail, or a vien collapses, or something equally horrible happens to me, but I got a result this time!

It was 13.

OP posts:
FirstTimer40 · 29/01/2006 16:54

I passed my glucose test too - which was a relief, and my iron was OK. My general screen of bloods at 28 weeks "was not analysed because the tubes were labelled incorrectlt" Grrr- so had to go back and give another 3 vials. Not impressed with the NHS, saw the consultant this week (31 weeks) and her communication skills were dreadful - not really sure what she said, despite me trying to ask questions My fundal height is now 33cm at 31 weeks and therefore off the scale so if in two weeks time it is still off scale (which it will be wont it unless babe shrinks !) then they are referring me for a "growth scan". No explanation as to implication of this? Any ideas? Also I was keen on water birth and consultant was very negative - re him being big and the fact that "intervention" may be needed- presume she meant foreceps or ventouse(they have less than 1% water births at our hospital despite there being a big pool room)
Apart from that he is very active and my hips ache. I too have leaky boobs.
Spent part of an antenatal class dressing the doll baby in baby clothes and feel very inexperienced. It seemed easier if the doll was upside down but guess you cant do that with the real thing !

pepperrabbit · 30/01/2006 08:56

I remember going to antenatal classes last time and having to practice holding a baby to your breast. The doll I borrowed was a Tiny Tears unfortunately and cried all down my front! No leakage here, but after last time shall be surprised if I'm bf.
FirstTimer - don't worry, after all the classes I still had to ring my mum up and ask - "what do babies wear??" because I really truly had no idea how many things in what order it should have on.
We had a miserable weekend here - thought DH had man-flu and was being a wuss but we think he might have tonsilitis and we're waiting for the docs appt. Apparently v. infectious and can lead to strep if untreated (isn't the internet wonderful!) So now I'm worried because I'm sure some kind of strep is v dangerous to babies. Obviously am trying to be sympathetic too!
Colditz - well done on an iron score! Not quite sure what the numbers mean but you must be very proud!

tonton · 31/01/2006 11:46

Not sleeping much as dd is having very bad (screaming for 30 mins) night-terrors about 3 times a week at the moment.
Plus for some reason I've started to worry about work issues at night. I used to be really good at compartmentalising...but no longer.
My notes from last time STILL haven't turned up. And DH is convinced my scar is going to split and baby is going to be brain-dmanaged, or die.
Oh, and we've just started major DIY/re-dcorating, ripping out fitted furniture etc so house is a bomb site!!

MrsEvs · 01/02/2006 14:22

Oh dear, we all seem a bit glum at the moment don't we?! The end bit really is no fun. We didn't have the best night last night as our heating went on the blink and no one could come out until this afternoon so we all just froze!

FT 40 I wouldn't worry about the growth scan thingy, they may just reassess your dates. My sister had a big for dates scan with her last one, and then she didn't get much bigger and she ended up having a small for dates scan!!! None of it really matters as long as the little heart is beating and all is well. Also I think consultants tend to be generally dismissive of anything that isn't the traditional sit in bed and do as you're told method, but I bet the midwives will be much more keen and they are the ones who'll be with you most of the time, so don't worry. I think the only thing about the water birth with a very big baby is that you can't have an epidural which you may want in the (dd was 9lb 10 - I definately wanted one, but you may be tougher than me!), and yes the possibility of needing assistance in getting them out, but you can play that by ear surely?

spots · 01/02/2006 14:39

Hello all, welcome to the new people! Tonton, glad we're not the only ones still in the throes of house reorganization. I can hardly bear to start on it all, let alone get through the vast piles of STUFF that still need a home. What are you doing/getting done?

Just sat driving theory test and passed that, phew. I don't know if I mentioned that I am desparately trying to have a stab at the test before the baby is born. At this rate ought to be able to book it for mid March or so, so quite a tight fit with due date but worth it if I pass. (I got 35/35 for the theory test, yippee!)

Hope you are all well anyway. How's your dad MrsEvs?

tonton · 01/02/2006 15:31

Well spots we bought our house about 14 months ago in fairly good condition but not very nicely decorated. We have finally started on our bedroom, ripping out the fitted wardrobes, re plastering etc. I am currently choosing wallpapers, fabrics, paints. I want a real boudoir to escape into. DH keeps complaning that samples I show him aren't 'sexy' anough. Well, they're not meant to be! Bedroom will be for sleeping ONLY!! Also doing the living room. ripping out shelves and choosing some funky curtain material. Have painted the baby's room and bought some stuff from ikea, yet to be assembled! I am not good at decor and find it pretty hard. Don't want to spend too much money - whatever we chose has to last a good long while.

MrsQ · 01/02/2006 19:53

Oh Spots and Tonton don't talk about piles of stuff around house.... I can't BEAR mine at the moment! Really really bugging me at the moment that I can't knock ours in to shape - DH tries but its just not the same is it?? Any week now (I fully expect it to start the day 'bump goes pop' - as DS puts it!) we're having a small extension done on ours. Not actually that huge on paper, just moving the side of our house out a bit, if you see what I mean, and making a decent size kitchen instead of the current cupboard size one. Which would all be fine if the fact that the work is due but not started didn't mean that I feel completely unable to get anything at all properly straight... there's no point tackling the peeling paintwork in the hallway or the rotton windows in our room for example cos so much disruption is just around the corner. Plus one of the main rooms to be affected is 'bump's' room - it used to be our office, decent size office but teeny bedroom. So at the weekend we made a sort of start at sorting it out... basically trying to redistrbiute the 'stuff' in the office (I can't tell you how well the enormous big black metal filing cabinet goes now it's crammed up against my lovely Laura Ashley curtains in what spare space left in our bedroom!!) and dragging the baby stuff out of the attic. I'm currently sitting in 'the nursery' (haha) with the computer perched on the shelfy thing we used as the changing table last time, with the rocky chair, carseat and moses basket taking up the majority of the left over floor space. You have to do a charming kind of crab step down the hall way to negotiate your way out of the room, thanks to all the things that we just haven't managed to find space for yet (and the stuff that DH somehow managed to think a yet to be born baby would need straight away out of the loft - despite the fact that he'd only just put them up there after 2.6 year old had finished with them).

Harrmupf. Lack of control over life, inability to sleep in any kind of comfort, lack of energy to do anything other than WHINE about it all and almost constant heartburn is not a phase of pregnancy I remembering relishing last time either!!

Saw slightly nutty midwife today who just kind of rambled on for half an hour in an almost constant stream of words that seemed to contradict each other all at once. THINK the upshot is that I'm still allowed to have my 'home birth' booking in appointment at home in about 3 weeks time... followed shortly by a late scan to double check size of baby incase that makes us call the whole thing off (homebirth that is, not baby !)

Oh, and did I mention that DS is absolutely sodding hating pre-school/playgroup and has become monster clinging child so that I'm spending 6 hours of my life each week cowering in the corner of a slightly freezing church hall hoping he will eventually settle in - and another seemingly endless number of hours trying to coax out of him where this fear of being parted from my side for more than 2 minutes has come from - if anywhere, other than being 2.6 years old. Can't wait to see how a baby brother added in to the mix helps the clingyness... not.

God, I'm boring myself now - sorry! I'm off to see if I can quaff all 4 units in one go this week if we've got any red wine in the house!!

colditz · 02/02/2006 14:13

I goodness, I wonder if this is hormonal? I detest my house at the minute, it is a tip, nothing is where or how I want it, I want to move furniture and can't etc....

I might nose on other threads to see if everyone moans about their house when they hit the 3rd trimester...
