Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

Ooh yes Bugsy - I do the pillow between your legs thing and it really makes a difference. Though it is a mountainous effort to turn over and rearrange all my accessories! DH doesn't appreciate it at all.
Very disappointed no-one gave birth over the weekend - was relying on Allyco next!
I'll be giving birth on Wed so you can pencil me in for then..... desperatley trying to start things off naturally now - curry, raspberry leaf tea, bouncing around on a yoga ball etc (can't face sex though..) as I really don't want to be induced again. Time is running out Smile
Have last ante natal appt this pm and sugars have been fine soshould get to come home again - at least we've been able to arrange everything for DS on wed in advance.
I'm waffling now - I'll go away!

Emma7 · 03/04/2006 12:29

Thanks for the tip - will try the pillow thing. Might sleep in spare room so I can spread out a bit and not wake DH up when I turn over.
I can't stop eating celery today - a bit late for new cravings I would have thought !!

allyco · 03/04/2006 12:56

pepper -am trying you know - have been dashing around for last couple of hours but nowt... Still. I may yet be next because notbody else seems to be doing anything Grin

and homsa am very Blush to say I AM picking littlest DD up early, as soon as middle-sized DD is picked up from school we are off to get her.

Have hairdresser appointment tomorrow and then dentist on Wednesday and MW Thursday. Surely something will happen before then as I have to take littlest DD with me and she will probably wreck the surgery. Was thinking of asking MW to do that sweep thing on my cervix, as I am still suffering pukewise and have anaemia and generally yuk and wonder if it might trip something off seeing as hospital said they deffo wouldn't induce, in their words, "for a bit of sickness" Angry Angry. I've never had it done before because my other DDs have arrived before their due dates but am wondering - if it didn't do any good, it couldn't do any harm? or could it? anyone had it and recommend it (or wouldn't recommend it?!)

Going to have sandwich now and watch one o'clock news which is a novelty (how sad am I)...

Bugsy38 · 03/04/2006 13:10

allyco - a friend of mine swears by having her cervix/membranes stripped. . . she had it done with all three of her pregnancies and all three times it resulted in bringing on labor. But I also heard it can be quite uncomfortable. I would definitely inquire about it with your MW.

DebitheScot · 03/04/2006 13:12

I just logged on here to see if there was any exciting news and most disappointed to see there isn't any!

Thanx for bra advice, have managed to steal the car from dh and going to go to M&S this afternoon.

Think I might try pillow between legs too if it'll help with fat ankles. Double beds are not designed for pregnant person plus one. Also keep getting sore hips from having to lie on side all night.

MrsQ · 03/04/2006 13:42

Afternoon Ladies,

Just popping in to say hello. I kept half an eye on you last week a couple of times - got very excited for Allyco on Friday... but frankly I think you should at least get to put your feet up for a couple of days of maternity leave after what you've been through!

Bizarrely I found sleeping top to toe with DH sort of surrounded by pillows around my head and shoulders and one between legs and then using him as a sort of back rest whilst on my left hand side was usually comfy enough to get me to sleep when everywhere else was uncomfy.

So... DS2 is working out pretty well so far. Sleeping loads (well, y'know, I'm still up about four times a night but that's kind of to be expected) so fitting in quite well and at least not causing DS1 any agitation - who of course is on full hyper mode thanks to having his darling dad and tonnes of visitors around all the time. Already dreading next week when DH goes back to work and there's no nursery / Tumbletots etc to keep us going. At least its two short weeks. DS2 is half named - Alex is his first name. Well, Alexander will go on forms but Alex for 'everyday'. Haven't chosen middle name but hopefully going to crack that v. soon.

Who knows how to attach a photo to these then?

petunia · 03/04/2006 16:44

Afternoon all,
I've been logging in all weekend too to see if anyone had given birth, but no news.
See I'm not the only one to have swollen ankles. My feet have gone up 2 shoes sizes!
Had a bit of a panic this morning. Went to the loo and found I was bleeding. So fought our way through the rush hour traffic to drop DD2 off at school and went in to hospital. After being examined by the Dr, she discovered a tiny pile that had been bleeding. Never had them before.
So after all that, feeling very Blush now!
But it was nice to be on the monitor and listen to the baby's heartbeat thump away, especially when it started moving!

tonton · 03/04/2006 17:12

Good to hear things are OK Mrsq! Alex is a lovely name. Don't know how to do the photo thing - sorry.
With DH in the States until the weekend, having the bed to myself is the best thibng about it! I can have as many pillows as I like a wriggle around to my hearts content. Of course it won't be so great if I go into labour and have to take a taxi...
On subject of childcare Istopped work last week but still have my live-in aupair. I was able to have a nap this afternoon while she entertained dd so pretty good really!

spots · 03/04/2006 19:02

Lovely to have update from you MrsQ. Alex is a really lovely name- variations of it were on our list too. Allyco, think a sweep is more likely to be painful if your cervix isn't dilated. So if you can grityour teeth through that possibility it might not do any harm, as you say. Interested to know what they say...when is your next appt? I had a sweep with DD and it was pretty good actually.

Space bar on computer still driving me mad, I have to add spaces aftre typing whole post so only shortish messages from me for nowSad. On the imminent births front I don't expect much, though every twinge makes me excited the twinges are hardly registering on the kitchen scale let alone the richter scale.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2006 06:06

OK, have been up for an hour already and loaded the dishwasher, tidied toys, cleaned the steriliser. What else shall I do for my last day as a mum of one?
Sleep was the obvious answer, but my brain and bump won't let me....
Feeling ridiculously nervous about tomorrow.

Bugsy38 · 04/04/2006 07:15

Pepper - you should try to relax as much as possible today. . . . I know it's hard but try, try, try! Eventually sleep will come to you.

Best wishes tomorrow!

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2006 11:22

Do you think it's too late to start pelvic floor exercises?

Bugsy38 · 04/04/2006 11:53

It's never too late to start pelvic floor exercises. You need to do them after the birth as well. . . . so I say go ahead and start today!

DebitheScot · 04/04/2006 13:15

Good luck for tomorrow pepperrabbit, hope it all goes fine.

Got bras yesterday- M&S fitting lady was very helpful.

Good Luck Pepper!

It's been an interesting day here, too. Had what I thought was spotting yesterday and this morning and had very weak contractions every 30 minutes or so for most of the night, so I'm exhausted. I called the midwife and had to go in to the maternity assessment suite to check that everything was O.K. because I am rhesus negative. Turns out the blood was the beginning of a show. I was examined and apparently, I'm about 1cm. Ah well. Still a long way to go but you never know. I'm getting stomach cramps all over the place at the moment but nothing strong or regular. I just want it over with now. It's hard looking after DS with bad stomach cramps all the time, whilst trying to act all cheery and full of energy so he doesn't worry anything is wrong!

allyco · 04/04/2006 21:04

come on Ponka. Come on Ponka, bloody hell I am getting excited. We need another baby.

Am still having those pathetic (notice how I've changed from saying good strong contractions to pathetic) pains every ten minutes which are coming to absolutely nothing. Also had horrible diarrhoea again (sorry if TMI)over last few days which again thought was nature having a clear out. Now I'm resorting to checking every time I go to loo in case I've had a show (although never had one before so if I do will probably keel over in shock).

Am typing really fast cos am excited for Ponka. If anything happens would Mr Ponka be prevailed upon to make a quick post to keep us updated?

Seriously, best of luck, and will be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow.

spots · 04/04/2006 22:10

Goodluck Pepper! Will be thinking about you tomorrow. LOL about the pelvic floor exercises -only just remembered about these myself!

And Ponka... stay in touch there! Will be logging on keenly tomorrow my girl...

Allyco it's not exactly quiet your end either! It really is April now isn't it?

MrsEvs · 05/04/2006 00:03

Good luck pepper, hope all goes well. Ponka - hope this means you are on your way too - how exciting. I doubt you'll be too much further behind either allyco with all those contractions - just hope you get your camera sorted in time!

Oh let me be next - I am so uncomfy and only managing about 2 hours kip a night at the moment, soooo ready to go (apart from my Mum not arriving until Monday that is!).

Alexander is a lovely name Mrs Q, glad all is going so well for you, let's hope we can all follow suit.

pepperrabbit · 05/04/2006 06:34

Morning all, another early morning in the pepper household! Docs reckon it might take up to 48 hours to stabilise baby's sugars when it's born so don't expect to hear from me for a few days...
I have cheered myself up by thinking of several things that would be even less fun than giving birth.

  1. Having to do a parachute jump
  2. Singing at the Albert Hall (naked)
Somehow this has made me feel better. Sorry if I appear to be dreading today - I'm looking forward to the baby bit! But have to admit to being in a bit of a tearful tizzy about having to labour. Thanks for all your good wishes. Now what to have for breakfast that I don't mind pooing over a midwife later? I'm not helping am I? Off I go.....
pepperrabbit · 05/04/2006 06:35

Oh yes, and I expect a plethora of babies by the time I log on again! (Ponka & Allyco - I hope you're listening! Smile

Emma7 · 05/04/2006 06:43

Good Luck Pepper!

Wow it's getting all exciting on here now Grin. Bring it on!

Homsa · 05/04/2006 09:00

Best of luck Pepper! Will be thinking of you today and keeping my fingers crossed. Now then, how about some raisins for breakfast? Grin

allyco and ponka, good luck to you too, I bet something will happen very soon with you two!

allyco · 05/04/2006 11:57

no word from Ponka I see and MrsEvs will be gone too... wow.

Am still here. Going outside to clean the windows now in hope something happens. DH still in bed after nightshift so will do it while he's there (he won't let me do it otherwise, but woudl HE actually clean them? Er, no).

he's off to get oldest DD from uni tomorrow. Why get a train home when dad can chaffeur you, eh? I've said if anything happens he's to get back |asap and I will pay all the speed camera fines. His own dad (ie my FIL) went to Wales this morning for a weddng so if anything happens tomorrow I am totally stuck. I really will have to drive to the labour ward myself with littlest DD in tow because there's literally nobody else to ask. Was going to throw myself at feet of CM, but when I took littlest DD to her this morning for her usual day, she said she has to have everyone on standby because her dad collapsed and is awaiting an urgent heart bypass. Apparently last night he was so bad they were thinking of airlifting him to a hospital elsewhere because all the beds up here were full. So bang goes CM as last resort!!!!

So although I really want baby to come, I want it to be today please, about two or three hours' labour, no stitches, no bad bleeding, and then home in time for Corrie. Anyone fancy my chances Grin

spots · 05/04/2006 13:13

I am drumming my fingers now too, after a show last night. But not feeling anything contractionwise, and apparently a show can happen ages before a baby arrives. DD woke up v.early and I am just off for a nap.Sorry Pepper I almost logged on this morning when you would have been around. Hope things are going ok for you - sending you lots of xxx.
