Ok, I did it!

Now shall we get our stats down again? I think we have had some joiners since we last did it.
Copy/paste the list and add yourself to it.

Colditz - due 06/04/06, aged 25, DP aged 32, 1 DS aged 2.9, having a baby boy! Very scared of needles....

Haven't posted for ages, Mrs Q, CONGRATULATIONS! Lovely, lovely news, sincerely hope you are making a good recovery and enjoying your precious little one.

We are celebrating here - dh received a much-awaited promotion last week after a very intensive course lasting several months. We have also sold our house, finally, after a frustrating 12 months on the market and have had an offer accepted today for a new family house for us to move to. Planning to move in approx 4-6 weeks - eek! Actually, think moving with a newborn might prove less stressful than moving with an active toddler! Very, very excited, have been daydreaming about our new life back in suburbia as have been living semi-rural past 6 years.

Def. feel ready to give birth any day, although only 36+2. BP still a bit high but the midwives are not too worrried so am trying not to be either. Bags are packed as am still convinced dd will arrive early. Dh might even be around for the birth (was worrying me greatly) as his company have tried hard to ensure he will at least be in the uk 2 weeks prior to due date, so very relieved and grateful.

Is it really possible to feel one's own cervix? Think I might leave that one as have a very, very embarrassing but funny confession to make. Was in labour with dd1 and trying to decide when to go to hospital, got out our pregnancy book which advised 'when the cervix is so far (can't remember the figure now) dilated'. Well, we had no idea so dh got out the household torch. Needless to say it didn't reveal anything, and when we 'phoned the hospital I'm pretty sure they had a bit of a laugh! Never been able to look at that torch since without laughing!

Like everyone else, finding it very hard to sleep, every twinge I wonder 'is something happening'? Not long to go now, wonder who'll be next?

allyco · 30/03/2006 09:14

congrats on the job and new house pacinofan - agree moving house will be far easier with a newborn than a rampaging toddler Grin

I get the impression we are all getting fairly fed-up now? It's my last day at work tomorrow and it will seem v strange not getting up and getting ready to go in next week.

Have also been having twinges off and on and quite nasty ones at that but am blase. He'll come when he's ready....

petunia · 30/03/2006 09:52

allyco- think I was getting fed up from 29wks onwards! But yes, in the final stages of extreme fedup-ness now! Except that I don't want anything to happen right now because my parents are still on holiday in Cyprus for another week and we don't have anyone else to look after DDs. I actually had a reasonable nights sleep for once but I've forgotten what my ankles look like and my feet have gone up 2 shoe sizes because of water retention.

pacinofan- congrats on DHs job and new house. Don't they say that about babies? New baby, new house? Something like that. Also think moving with a new-born should be easier. We moved the day DD1 was due. Not something I'd recommend!

MrsEvs · 30/03/2006 15:19

Congrats pacinofan. I also moved with a 6 week old, and it is easier than you might think as they are asleep in the carrier most of the time!

No sleep this side of the Atlantic either, although last night was better than most. The night before I woke up at 2am and just didn't go back to sleep - was exhausted yesterday!

Another docs appt tomorrow, so we'll see if there have been any changes....

petunia · 30/03/2006 19:03

Evening all,
Had a midwife appt this afternoon. The m/w isn't sure that the baby is head down now and she measured me as being 3cm more than I should be for being 35+6. So I've got to go for a scan next Thursday.

pepperrabbit · 30/03/2006 20:04

well done pacinofan - it's great when a plan comes together! Smile
Petunia - at least you'll get to see the baby on the screen again which I've enjoyed at all of my scans.
I've had a virtually imobile day here - it hurts so much when I try to walk - don't remember this happening last time, and I've had jippy backache all day as well - tho poss cos I haven't moved much and am seizing up Sad Doc said baby was 4/5ths when I went on Monday but that means nothing on No 2. She did say it was "very close to the exit" in her next breath tho!! charming..

petunia · 31/03/2006 10:20

pepperrabit- That's what I'm trying to tell myself as well. Hope that its not going to be a big bouncer though. I'm quite happy with DDs being 7lbs and 7lbs 5oz! Somewhere around those weights would be nice.

allyco · 31/03/2006 12:01

morning all. Thought I might pop in to find someone else had had a happy event but clearly not!

I had horrible diarrhoea through the night (sorry if TMI) and have crampy on and odf pains today. Wonder if this means things are happening. It's my last day at work which is going completely to cack so will get back to it now, and check in later!!

pepperrabbit · 31/03/2006 12:33

I'd probably put money on you having your baby before Monday Allyco! - and I'm a banker Grin

Am logging off now as have been loitering on mumsnet all morning waiting for a (late) Tesco delivery - which I now have to unpack..

DebitheScot · 31/03/2006 13:23

I can't sleep either, its very annoying. Same thing- waking up every couple of hours and can't switch brain off. Its not even always baby stuff going round and round my head, just random rubbish. Also having same thing of thinking every twinge might be something exciting. Also getting fed up and keep depressing myself even more by thinking that if its 2 weeks late there still could be 5 weeks to go.

allyco · 31/03/2006 14:04

still at work - 4 hours to go - and counting. Can't believe on Monday I won't be going to work (although if pepper is right I will have a baby to look after!!!!!!!!!!)

tonton · 31/03/2006 14:36

Had a lovely night with dd up with toothache all night. Took her to dental emergecny clinic at the hospital this morning and she has to have 2 teeth out under general anesthetic next wednesday! The timing is of course fantastic as I'll be 38 weeks then and dh will be in New York. In fact is is already in New York not back for over a week.
Stay put baby please...
My head is also full of random rubbish at night - get very anxious about really stupid things.
Having a massage in a minute - at home! Grin

Hello Bugsy Smile

blimey tonton your poor poor DD. I hate anything to do with teeth.

Approximately 10 more mins as a working woman and then I am FREE!!!!!!!

Next time I log in it will be from home, in my own time....ooh err.

Come on, we need someone else to go into labour. Come on, ladies.

Emma7 · 31/03/2006 16:59

Welcome Bugsy38. I'm not on the list you postedSad must be an old one.

Hey I have cracked the sleep thing though Smile. I have not drunk much alcohol during my pregnancy (the odd half a guinness when I had cravings in the 2nd trimester) but last night after 3 or so rough nights decided to have a small glass of wine. It had quite an effect on me due to lack of drink recently and made me feel really chilled out. Went to bed early and slept really well. Not going to do it every night or anything but will do once or twice a week - I'm sure that the lack of sleep and stress does more harm in the long run.

So go on girlies crack open the wine Grin

Bugsy38 · 31/03/2006 17:05

I've had trouble sleeping as well but find that putting lavendar oil on my pillowcase before bed and breathing in deeply when I lie down helps. . . But it doesn't solve the "waking in the middle of the night and worrying" bit. I have not found a solution to that. . .

Ponka · 31/03/2006 22:56

Welcome Bugsy38.

Well this is it, April begins Grin. Lets have some more births. Best of luck ladies and Happy Due Date FT40. Hope you do something nice tomorrow (or even better, things start off for you).

allyco · 03/04/2006 09:45

YAY I am a lady of leisure. Thought I'd log in and see who had given birth over the weekend but it looks like nobody Sad. FWIW I have had cramps off and on since Friday night but with no effect other than to keep me awake.

It feels v. strange not being at work....

Homsa · 03/04/2006 10:06

Hi allyco, glad to hear you're finally taking it easy! (you are, aren't you? Or are you cleaning like mad now??) Does your youngest DD still go the the CM's now that you're on maternity leave? My DS will still go to nursery 3 mornings a week, we can just about afford it and it will keep me (and him) sane!

I'm still doing my freelance stuff at home, but hoping to stop by the end of this week. My hands and feet keep swelling up whenever I sit down at the computer for too long!

I've had no twinges, no leaking boobs, nothing! Quite happy about that, though, my mum is coming to stay with us on Sunday, and I'm determined not to go into labour before then!

allyco · 03/04/2006 10:31

hi Homsa. Glad someone else is around. I really am at a loose end! Yes, littlest DD is at CM today. She loves going, and we still pay full whack regardless of whether she's there or not Angry but I feel SO GUILTY because she's not with me.

Am going to make beds now and was thinking about clearing wardrobes to do some eBaying. Does this count as nesting???

Bugsy38 · 03/04/2006 10:44

I am in my final week of work and cannot wait to stop. I am a bit concerned though that I'll be sitting at home waiting for the "big event" to arrive and it will take ages. . . is anyone experiencing this?

Homsa · 03/04/2006 11:15

Don't feel guilty allyco!!! You owe it to yourself and the babe to be well rested when you go into labour. Could you pick your DD up a bit earlier from the CM, if that makes you feel better?

Bugsy, I had that situation last time round - I started mat leave at 38 weeks, and then DS was 10 days late! I can't remember being bored, though, I did loads of stuff that I knew I wouldn't be able to do after the birth, like reading, going to the cinema, seeing friends, sleeping! I wish I had a bit of time to myself now, I can't say that I'm mentally prepared for labour... I haven't even written a birth plan! Arrghh! Shock

Emma7 · 03/04/2006 11:35

Congrats on finishing work Allyco. Make sure that you get some rest.
I was having cramps last night too but feel ok again today - could be something to do with the curry I ate on Saturday night Blush!! I reckon if you were ready anyway it would definately start you off - my bump was going mad on Saturday night. Don't want baby to come before I have my hair cut (tonight) and coloured (Wednesday morning) - haven't had it done for ages and thought I'd treat myself Wink
I too am having problems with swelling - face, ankles, feet and hands. My knuckle joints are getting quite painful - will mention it to the midwife tomorrow.

Bugsy38 · 03/04/2006 11:46

I too have had terrible problems with swollen feet and ankles for the past two weeks. Then over the weekend I decided to try sleeping with a pillow between my legs and I woke up this morning to almost normal looking feet and ankles! I'm not entirely sure the two things are related, but it's worth a try at least.
