Riley3, i am so sorry to hear about your news...my thoughts and best wishes for the furure are with you xox

Paow, i know what you mean about being fussy around food...it takes me ages before i can even face the kitchen, let alone any food lol.

Sparkly - im sorry you are feeling rough (snap, i am too) but just lie back and think of vernon lol

hope that the rest of you are taking it easy and feeling ok xox

marthahm · 10/03/2006 11:44

riley3 i'm really sorry about your news.
i'm still feeling like i'm going to vomit any second, just made it to farringdon before making gagging sounds like a strangled seagull but still no sick so i should feel lucky. i've found a large sandwhich as 2nd breakfast on way to work helps.

i gave up on the excuses and went to the pub with friend last night. i had half a pint of cider which nearly made me gag again and then felt quite drunk as haven't had any alcohol for ages. then had to make mercy dash to my friends office on way home to use her work loos as my bladder is now less compliant!
has anyone else had a problem with trusted family members who promise to tell no one and then start broadcasting the pregnancy? was fuming this am after many congrats phone calls...

paow · 10/03/2006 12:09

I'm really sorry to hear your news Riley, hope you are OK.

I know what you mean about people telling! Yes they promise they won't say and then end up going behind your back!

With my mum has been so hard, when I had the MC she had told EVERYONE she knew sending this mass emails, and then bought some little clothes, you can imagine how we felt when the MC happened and had to look at those baby clothes.
I wasn't going to tell her again about this one but ended up doing so and making her swear she won't tell. She bought me a maternity top yesterday (but I haven's seen it as she lives in the US) and I WAS FUMING!! I had so stope her and say to her do not buy anything until my scan!! So annoying, she doesn't seem to understand!

Anyway, I'm 7 and a half weeks and I'm getting worried about the size of my tummy, it's huge, I haven't started to wear Mat clothes but just have a huge stomach popping out (I'm size 12 and hadn't had this before) Could it be that I might be having twins? The only extra food I'm having now is more milk, could this be making me fat?
Anyone has the same problem?
Take care

Annelouise · 10/03/2006 12:23

Riley I'm so sorry I can't even imagine how you are feeling.

Having a bad day and taking out on poor DS. Feeling really tired and weepy-took DS to toddlers and all any body said to me was that I looked really ill. Just can't wait till I've got to 12 weeks and can just tell people.

marthahm · 10/03/2006 12:24

are you sure your dates are right paow? i have a bump that has been noticeable since week 5ish (although initially was only me and dh who could see it). my clothes are getting a little uncomfy- but i have been eating like 2 horses when not feeling sick. i think the size of the bump must be very individual just like everything else so not too much to worry about(crossed fingers paow!)
has anyone heard of night bras? my mum said everyone wore them in pregnancy in the 70's. found myself propping up my chest as was going to sleep last night as a bit uncomfortable and ended up thinking maybe a bra was more practical.

Annelouise · 10/03/2006 12:33

martham I think I've seen night bras in mothercare.

marthahm · 10/03/2006 13:10

thanks annelouise, just had a look and they only appear to do them with unzippable flaps for feeding-think it might send dh into a panic seeing me in one of those at bedtime!

twinkle183 · 10/03/2006 13:28

Morning ladies... just when I thought the bleeding had stopped this morning I wiped it it was there! Phoned mw and shes managed to get me a scan on monday, so will keep you posted! She has told me not too worry because its unusual for it to only be in the mornings and have no pain, however she felt it best to get it check out! Am hoping for the best...

Am sorry to hear your news riley3, I wish all the luck in the world with future pregnancies. Big hugs to you!!!

paow · 10/03/2006 14:17

Good luck Twinkle! Hope it's OK

Martha: I'm sure I've got my dates right!
I know it's really sill y but I just keep thinking of Desperate housewifes and the latin one (can't remember her name!) who is meant to be 3 months and no bump!
Dunno what to think, fingers crossed I would love twins. Like the ones on child of our time, they are so adorable!

marthahm · 10/03/2006 14:30

well that's great then, if you're keen on twins. i have an awful lot in our family and from personal experience i would say don't be gutted if it's not. mind you, the twins i know best have just turned 2 which is never a relaxing age and they are babies 4 and 5 (a mistake after their parents had already had 3)
i think my bump may be considerably larger after the ice cream and golden syrup i just consumed...

wuzzlefraggle · 10/03/2006 16:00

Twinkle - good luck with the scan on moday, hope it all goes smoothly :)

whiffy · 10/03/2006 16:38

Riley - so so sorry. Do come back on the thread and let us know if you get lucky in future..Take care and I will try to shout down the Vernon Kaye lobby in your absence.

Fingers crossed, Twinkle. It's rough having to get through the weekend till the scan so will be thinking of you.

Paow - I'm now in my 9th pg (lots of m/cs) and these days I only have to look at a faintline on the test and my stomach explodes out. I was size 12 and am now feeling tight in a size 14 skirt. And that was before I hit the ginger fest, honest! In fact it's so bad I am going to have to tell my boss today - the combination of pg waddle, secret ginger beer habit at desk, and surreptitious vomitting is strangely proving difficult to conceal.

If it wasn't so funny I'd ban Desperate housewives from my screen, they are all far too skinny and attractive (though I do feel v.strong personal bond with Lynette), but even funnier than whats-her-names lack of tummy at 3 months is the fact that we're supposed to believe a 5ft 2 woman is a sucessful model Smile

totallyfloaty35 · 10/03/2006 19:28

Twinkle,i have the same thing, bleed morning only ,not heavy only really on wiping and no pain.had scan all ok they dont know why bleeding

totallyfloaty35 · 10/03/2006 19:31

riley,so sorry to hear your news, goodluck for the future

sparkly1 · 10/03/2006 19:56

I mentioned on here before that my friend was having her nuchal fold scan today. She's had bad news. Her baby has trisomy 13 and some other chromosomal problem (she was upset, I didn't push) and she's going in next Friday for a termination. The baby would eventually miscarry anyway so she's opted for this. I'm so sad for her. So so sad :( :(

cece · 10/03/2006 22:19

I thought NF test was only a screening test and not a diagnostic test. Are they 100% sure about your friend sparkly?

Gemmitygem · 11/03/2006 05:10

Paow, don't worry; I am normally size 10 and the willowy type, this is my first preg, and by the evenings I look about 6 months preg! It kind of looks worse because I'm skinny with this big belly! I'm only 9 weeks, but have been bloated like that in the evenings since about 6 weeks. Also can't eat my usual enormous meals, as there doesn't seem to be room. So you're not alone.

Re sparkly's poor friend, is anyone considering NOT having the nuchal fold? I'm feeling at the moment as if Down's wouldn't be the end of the world, and there's a lot of abnormalities they can't see till it's born.. What are the actual risks of Down's?

annelouise, hope you're feeling better. I think everyone on here has been feeling emotional at times: I cried when watching, and this is really embarassing, speed skating! It seemed so upsetting suddenly... DH is bemused!

cece · 11/03/2006 06:50

gg you are up early considering you don't have a little one to get you up...

i am having nf test but i have a high risk because of my age.... which is 39....

my clothes are so tight in the evening i am wearing tracky bottoms once i get home. however i am definitely not a size 10 and my stomach has not been flat for a good few years so no one commenting yet. i think they think i've just put on weight!

sparkly1 · 11/03/2006 10:15

Cece, they must be 100% sure as they've scheduled her termination for next Friday. She goes back in for some, as she called it, "more invasive" test on Wednesday and then the termination is Friday. This was a private scan so perhaps it was more detailed or something than a normal nuchal fold scan, I don't know.

She just rang to see how I was. She's dealing with it so well. I'm not sure I could in the circumstances.

cece · 11/03/2006 10:17

Oh maybe she had a CVS test as that gives a certain result I think..

How sad for her..Sad

booge · 11/03/2006 14:47

GG I've decided not to have the NF scan this time. I worried over it for ages but I can't be sure what risk factor from the NF scan would mean I would have a CVS or amnio with a 1/200 risk of miscarriage afterwards. I'm not sure I would terminate anyway so I'm leaving it to mother nature. I'm 36 so my natural risk is 1/287. I had the test last time but I don't think now I could terminate at 14 or more weeks having had DS. As my midwife said your child could have worse problems than Downs which are not picked up on a NF scan.

Annelouise · 11/03/2006 16:24

Hi everyone
Could not get my jeans done up this morning so had to go to mothercare and get some maternity ones there really comfy but keep falling down! My doc says you get bigger the 2nd time which is really worrying me as I was huge last time!

I am feeling better to day have just taken DS to mums foe night and we are off out for a meal at friends house. The best bit is though I'll get to sleep past 6 in the morning! Those of you on your 1st enjoy the layins as once the baby is here that is it!

twinkle183 · 11/03/2006 18:27

Thanks totallyfloaty35 for the reassurance its made me feel alot better! No bleed this morning just can't wait to see it on the screen and hear its little heart beat so I know everything is okay! Maybe they'll be able to shed some light as to why I occassionally bleed???

My mum bled but they put it down to her being originally pregnant with twins and that she lost one hence the bleeding! But I guess we'll wait and see....

Will let you all know what happens on monday! Apart from that I don't really feel that pregnant.. apart from huge boobs and the occasional mood swing otherwise I'm fine how is everyone else feeling?

Poppyshed · 11/03/2006 19:21

Hi Everyone, nice to hear you're all doing well. I liked the advice about the lay in, Annelouise. I didn't realise just how much I'd miss them when dd came along! But of course, I wouldn't be without her. This is actually the first day I have felt physically rotten! I've felt sick on and off and really dizzy at times.I even went for a snooze when dd had her afternoon nap, and I usually use that time to catch up on bits and pieces of housework. Anyway, hope you have a good night out AL, and the rest of you keep well, xx
