Do you mean for changing on? Or for poo-ey clothes? I have a waterproof bag for used resuable nappies that I used with DD so that might work. DH has just pointed out that waterproof would be sensible if I am going to sling it across the front of the buggy.

Has anyone used those bag clips on their buggy? At the risk of sounding totally daft, how do they actually work? Do they just give you something to clip the bag onto?

DreamingOfPeace · 08/02/2012 23:34

fishcake my friend swears by her bag clips on her buggy. Another one uses one of those big carabiner-style mummy-clips on a double buggy.

scarlet How scary. Dd has been like that a lot recently. Temp of 40 for her really makes her work hard with her breathing and his totally floppy. It's very, very horrible. I hope he picks up soon. I will Brook No Argument about that for you.

Please can I have a total freak out?

OBEM, arggggghhhhh!!!!! My worst nightmare. The more pg I get the more I'm worrying about the birth, whichever option. Nearly had a panic attack about it tonight. Dh totally unsympathetic. I can't sleep in the night for lying awake worrying about it. Sad . I would Def rather go straight to CS than have an experience like that woman's with the poor baby with the broken arm Sad . So I'm panicking about what will happen if i go into labour before my elcs date- if they'll give me one tomorrow... I don't want an instrumental delivery and i want an intact perineum this time ideally, but above all I want two healthy babies.. and totally freaking out and panicky feelings are not going to help.. Someone tell me to get a grip!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/02/2012 06:54

Oh how glad am I that I don't watch OBEM!!!

Now listen here, our perineums are coming out of this unscathed - do you hear me? I understand exactly where you're coming from as I too obv. want a healthy baby as goal no 1 but after that it's all about no instruments / no tears for me. I doubt I'll get a CS unless they are concerned at the size of the baby next time - but it's certainly something I'm bringing up at my scan in 2 weeks.

Now as for you Dream - din't panic. See what they say today. I can quite understand your panic / lack of sleep because I've been the same myself. But you have your appt today (what is that for btw - scan or just consultant?). See what they say. If they give you a date ask what happens if you go into labour naturally? They might whip you in and do a CS at the first sign of labour if the plan is for you to have one anyway? Just don't be afraid to explain your fears about what happened last time. They'll take it all into account I'm sure.

Is your DH still on the side of a CS? And is he going with you today? See if you can get him to see that what you want is some certainty about what's going to happen, and I'm sure he can then be the back up to make sure all the questions get asked.

Don't worry though - we'll get through this my dear. xx

Biscuitsandtea · 09/02/2012 06:54

Scarlet hope DS's temp is coming down xx

musicalmrs · 09/02/2012 08:16

Morning!

Sorry for the radio silence - madly busy few days with lots of teaching and lots of maternity cover prep.

Sorry to hear about poorly DS Scarlet,
I hope he gets better soon and that you don't catch whatever lurgy he's got!

Scream, also brooking no argument that you don't catch DH's cold. I seem to have had a permanent cold since being pregnant, that every now and again takes a turn for the worse. Probably to do with working with kids I suspect... Very jealous of your lack of colds Ninja!

Dream, your bump looks magnificent :-)

Biscuits, have you attempted a bra fix yet? Or are you ignoring it in favour of the new ones? :-)

Sorry to all I've forgotten - posting from my phone so can't scroll up! Busy day today - seven hours of teaching, followed by visiting a friend in hospital, then a late rehearsal. Currently sitting on the floor.of the train as not only is it packed, but I couldn't actually get near enough to the priority seats to ask nicely for one.. rubbish.

Enjoyed OBEM despite the scary birth. Wasn't the baby huge though - 10lbs or something?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/02/2012 08:53

Musical - Will definitely try a bra repair at some point, don't want to have to go for non-wired until I have to! Every wired minute is precious to me Grin

So sorry though that you're having to sit on the floor Sad. I soooooooo don't miss commuting in London! Hope you get there soon without feeling too ropey.

scarletfingernail · 09/02/2012 10:47

DS still in a bit of a state. We were up 3 times in the night, he's still on full doses of Calpol and Nurofen. His poor little face looks so miserable.

I really wish I'd not seen OBEM last night Sad 10lb 5oz I think they said the baby was musical.

Dream it was seeing him struggling to breathe that sent me into a panic. Watching his little tummy going in and out so fast was so scary. It's incredible how one minute his temp can be fine and he's full of beans, the next it's raging and he's curled up on the floor shaking, stuggling for breath and got blue lips, then 20 minutes later he can be back to playing again. I'm exhausted with worry and it's only been a couple of days. I really feel for you, when you've had with DD for so long now.

PopcornMouse · 09/02/2012 10:49

I love Purl Bee Ninja and those blankets are lovely ? what colours are you thinking? I wouldn't dare chance a sling, sadly, as I'm too trip-prone Blush
I think it's starting to sink in, but I'm really trying and failing to not count my chickens iykwim ? I am a natural pessimist, but after a year ttc it feels a bit too good to be true? Like you, I think it'll only be ?real? once I have a bump!! 1st GP's appointment tomorrow though :)

I'd love to make this once I'm a bit further along, foxtrot Knitting booties eh? So exciting :)

Gosh scarlet that sounds very scary and you are not being silly Shock I hope she recovers soon and that you escape the lurgy totally.

That second one's a lovely nursing bra, biscuits - some of them can be so frumpy! I am already an F, I'm worrying what madness they'll go up to when my norks are full of milk Shock

musical surely people in normal seats should give theirs up for a preggo? Shock

PopcornMouse · 09/02/2012 10:50

Sorry scarlet - she!

scarletfingernail · 09/02/2012 11:26

Popcorn allow yourself a bit of excitement! The chances of anything going wrong are so slim compared to everything going right Smile

musical I find it quite shocking frankly that you would even need to ask for a priority seat. It's shameful that other people can see you've very obviously pregnant and are allowing you to sit on the floor. Yes, I know pregnancy isn't an illness blah blah blah, but good God have we really come to the point where we can't show a pregnant woman some compassion and give her as break?! Shock I could not take a seat (in my non-pregnant state) and look at you on the floor, I just couldn't. I know some people will have their own aches and pains and reasons for sitting down, but surely not all. Angry

DreamingOfPeace · 09/02/2012 12:23

scarlet, its just awful when they look like that, I totally understand what you mean. I hope he picks up soon, its such a worrying time. The only good thing is they don't worry about themselves. I will send get well soon vibes to your little boy.

Scan and consultant appointment this afternoon biscuits. I will have elcs at 38 weeks if i get that far, but dh says if i go into labour early in the night or something, medically they wouldn't necessarily go straight to CS and get emergency team going if twins head down. I did say if that's what we'd decided could we not push for a section say after 36 weeks regardless, but now dh's umming and ah-ing...

I'm also not crafty at all but have managed to stitch wire back in bra exactly as you describe biscuits just pushing it in and putting 10 million stitches over.

NinjaChipmunk · 09/02/2012 12:36

ooh popcorn thats lovely you've got your 1st gp appt tomorrow, good luck! (not sure what you need luck for actually, they will just refer you to midwife for booking appointment and hospital for 12 week scan). But it is a good feeling once you are 'in the system'. Then it'll be you 8ish week booking appt, then your 12 week scan and then.....................Grin
I must investigate ravelry a bit further, looks rather interesting.....

musical I think if you want a seat on a london train during a commute you have to be quite bolshy a lot of time? Some people are lovely as soon as they notice you but so many are just head inot a book/ newspaper and don't even glance around them. I hope you have a better journey home.

scarlet poor ds, that sounds really quite scary. I really hope he fights it off soon.

Wants3 · 09/02/2012 12:53

Just back from orthodontist with ds2, he is going to have train track braces fitted soon!
Wmip biscuits and scream is an antenatal group for weight management in pregnancy. As my BMI was calculated at booking in as 30.07 it automatically triggered an invite to this group. Most of the women are abit larger than me though. The goal is to not put on much or any weight during pregnancy.

fishcakefoxtrot · 09/02/2012 14:19

Dream I was asking a friend about this earlier in the week. She is having her section in a fortnight- as far as she could tell if she went into labour between now and then she would still have a c section unless she had miraculously got pretty far into labour before getting to the hospital when, if everything looked good, she would just deliver the baby vaginally. She thought this was unlikely to happen! As the advice seems to be to present to hospital asap for a VBAC or anticipated complex delivery I can't imagine getting so far into labour that there was no time to do a c section.

Actually, that reminds me- my friend with the twins actually had her waters break at home. She just went to the hospital where they prepped her with steriods etc then did the c section. I think one boy was suspected breech, though.

Too do you know what happens? Have you discussed what will happen if you go into labour before hand?

I will be interested to hear how your appointment goes! I have a growth scan and a consultant appointment next week and would really like to get my csection booked in then.

Scarlet I really hope DS gets better soon. Poor him and poor you.

Popcorn that cardigan is so sweet! I knit a couple of these for DD but I think I will just do hats and socks this time. I have had so little time recently that really I would just to like to make something for myself Blush

Who was it was looking for smart dresses? I too will be keen to see what you find as I will need something to wear for my graduation in June. I received my notification that my corrections have been accepted so I really am finished Grin.

fishcakefoxtrot · 09/02/2012 14:22

Has anyone else become anaemic? The midwife phoned earlier in the week to say that my 28 week FBC has shown that my iron levels are low so I am now taking supplements. I am very much hoping that I start to have a bit more energy as a result. It's pretty much impossible to know what's pregnancy-induced, toddler-induced or anaemia- induced tiredness though!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 09/02/2012 14:56

Scarlet sound like when my Dd had bronchiolitis, if the breathing goes a bit funny again take him to the Drs. It is horrible :(

Envy of all this knitting going on I would love to be good at this sort of thing!

Fishcake I have had anaemia and still take tablets when I can remember at 11.5 as I just feel rubbish without them! They should help make you feel better but can take a month or more to really work. With Dd I was worse and kept feeling faint with it. You have my sympathy there!

I need to find a dress or two for May and Dream in June both of us approx 6 weeks after birth! I do fancy this dress for the summer but obviously not suitable for the wedding.

I started to pack my bag last night, I really love my bag, has a perfect pocket that fits 10 sets of breast pads in, I have called it my breastpad pocket. I also have another mesh pocket with my knickers in. Ooh I love it!

I have bag clips this time and I think they are going to be great, they came with my bag, so haven't used them yet my friend swears by hers. It means your not taking up your shopping basket with your nappy bag and the bag won't be slipping down the handle like if you just use the long strap.
I also prefer using nappy bags, just as generally they are more hard wearing, water resistant and of a better layout, especially if your a pocket fiend like me!

Music that is rubbish about sitting on the floor, I hope your day improves!

pommedenoel · 09/02/2012 15:05

My mum has been staying as DH is abroad and when we watched OBEM last night she really struggled to cope with the shoulder dystocia birth (even though she had a brutal labour with me). I kinda like that they do occasionally show the shocking births too, I think it's important to acknowledge that they happen. I felt so sorry for the mum though. Those 5 minutes felt so long to us on telly - imagine how they felt to her at the time?!

fishcake - I'm not anaemic but a couple of good friends of mine, both second timers too, have been diagnosed with it. Seems more common second time round.

Scarlet - Hope your ds feels better soon - sounds scary.

We took dd for new shoes today and she chose shiny red ones, they are so cute, like 'proper' children's shoes somehow! They have a butterfly on the front too. I want a pair too!

Going to upload photo of bump from last weekend in a minute too.

fishcakefoxtrot · 09/02/2012 15:05

Hmmm I do like a good set of pockets... I wonder what John Lewis's bag selection is like. I really like to have a look at bags in person before I buy one (have been known to decant my own bag into the shop to try it out before Blush. not the fluff or the babybel wrappers I hasten to add).

Sounds like bag clips will be handy what ever bag I get.

Music just saw that about the floor. People can be idiots sometimes. Hope you got a nice cup of tea at your destination Brew

pommedechocolat · 09/02/2012 15:13

I name changed back too so new photo on this profile now I think. All very complicated...

Biscuitsandtea · 09/02/2012 15:20

Just on phone to PAU as mvmts seem a bit less again today Confused

Now, I've just been going round the supermarket and I was getting some weird feelings. I'm not sure whether it was a 'movement' or not. It was quite painful - as in made me sort of catch my breath rather than like normal kicks. I wondered on the EY home rather than being some sort of poke, if it was more like a BH that was squeezing something iyswim? It left me feeling quite winded.

So the PAU said to eat something sugary and have a hot drink and monitor for 2 hours and call them back. I've gone for a mars bar and a hot choc and a sit down (well for the next 5 mins until I have to fetch DS from pre-school Confused. And will see what happens.

Wish me lots of wriggles.

I'm so stuck between feeling like I'm making a fuss over nothing. But because I get so few mvmts anyway, there isn't really any room for a drop in them without it worrying me. And I can't get out of my head the idea that if there was something wrong and I'd not done anything Confused

Sorry that's all a bit mememe Blush.

Dream how did the scan and consultant go?

wants what does your DS think about the braces? Is he worried or ok about it?

Biscuitsandtea · 09/02/2012 15:26

So can you buy these bag clips separately? I have a baba bing (?) bag I think but it has a long strap - I used to often carry it messenger style rather than having it dangling on the pram handle.

Hope Scarlet's DS is doing better.

No anaemia here at the moment sorry Fishcake. But I was on iron tablets for mths after DS was born because I lost so much blood - they do take a while to kick in. But maybe if you've not actually lost blood they work a bit quicker? Other than that get your spinach etc in and other iron rich foods (which I can't think of now!)

fishcakefoxtrot · 09/02/2012 15:30

Biscuits that doesn't sound like a fuss at all. In fact, if it was me I would probably go in anyway after the two hours, just to check (I did this with DD. The midwives couldn't have been nicer or more reassuring that they did NOT think I was wasting their time. They would much rather check.)

Do you have someone who could watch DS?

Will wish you lots of wriggles, kicks and pokes and offer you an un-mumsnetty hug Smile and I hope you get to enjoy your medicinal Mars bar and hot choc.

Pomme lovely bump!

fishcakefoxtrot · 09/02/2012 15:32

No need to apologise biscuit Wink am glad you are not anaemic! Think my iron is quite low (10, apparently) so hopefully will see some benefit soon, and I also think it is a bit precautionary, in anticipation of my csection when there will be guarenteed blood loss.

pommedechocolat · 09/02/2012 15:40

Biscuits - You are definitely doing the right thing calling in and checking. Don't worry about making a fuss at all. I've been getting some kinds of almost 'cervical' pains that make me really catch my breath in a stop what I'm doing way. MW said very normal and body practicing for dilation etc and labour - might be that you felt in supermarket?

Wishing lots of wiggles for you. I'd wiggle for a mars bar :)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 09/02/2012 15:47

Oh Biscuits I hope you are ok, even if you do feel a bit of movement maybe go anyway just so you can be checked over? :(

Apparently Spatone is best for upping your iron levels, I haven't tried it yet myself but they have been recommended to me.

These are the clips I have highly recommended by mums I know.

Great pic Pomme :)
