Thanks Biscuits. No puking thank goodness! It's definitely some sort of virus, but we've had a couple of scares where his temp has scarily gone up to 40, he's had the shakes and his lips and turned blue. Unless he's having both Calpol and Ibruprofen regularly it just shoots straight back up. He's generally miserable, moping around, laying on the floor and saying he wants to go to sleep. He's not really eating or drinking.

I've been completely neurotic the last couple of days and have had him checked out twice Blush. There's nothing anyone can do other than give advice on keeping him cool. His ears and throat are very sore apparently, but no sign of it being anything other than viral. I've got no medical knowledge or background at all and I just find illness in DC utterly terrifying. (I read too many newspapers and scare myself silly about viruses and flu-like illnesses) There's a bit of me also now worrying about what happens if I catch it, not so much the virus itself but the worryingly high temperature. Someone tell me I'm being ridiculous. I am aren't I?

Biscuits This is the bra you need! Just as supportive as an underwired and really comfy. You are very funny, poor Dhs PJs!

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 19:48

Hooray for a jumping bean wants Smile It won't be long before you are being booted all over the place. My bump's movement has really stepped up in the last couple of weeks and dh finally got to feel a wriggle yesterday Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 19:48

That is a gorgeous blanket Ninja but I suspect 'super easy' might assume you can already knit Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 08/02/2012 19:49

Sorry to hear Scarlet's DS is poorly, I hope he feels better soon.

Wants what is a "wmip" appointment? The Alien re-enactment sounds uncomfortable! My LO has recently taken to doing this utterly gross movement which feels like I have a belly full of snakes which are sliding round in circles. I can only assume she's moving her whole body round in a circle, and what I can feel is her spine sliding along as she goes round, but it feels HORRIBLE. Not even uncomfortable, just gross! Not loving the movement thing but at least it's a sign of health!

Biscuits sorry to hear about the annoying bra issue. I had that happen on one of my favourite bras once (pre-pg) and I just sewed up the bit where the wire had come through. I didn't add any extra fabric or anything, I just went back and forth over the hole with several rows of stitches. The wire didn't come out again, but I don't know if that would work with the increased strain of pg-enhanced boobs! Might be worth a shot?

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 19:54

That does sound scary scarlet
fingers crossed you don't get it. In fact will brook no argument that you will be anything other than perfectly healthy.

Anyone watching OBEM tonight? I have a creme egg put aside for telly watching Smile

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 19:56

biscuits is it quiet enough to worry or just quieter like its turned around/ moved? You can always call your mw? Just for a bit of reassurance.
wants glad to hear you've got some movement! DP felt this one move the other night (he originally thought it was me twitching but then realised it wasn't Grin)
scarlet sorry to hear your ds is ill. I think there are a few virus's making the rounds. DS is ok but dp took today off as he felt ill. And ds's nursery said they've had a few people off this week too. Hope he feels better soon.

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 20:24

Scarlet - am hoping your DS picks up soon and manages to start keeping his temperature down.

Purple - I have been eyeing up that bra but I am a little worried that it only goes up to an I cup whereas I'm currently a J cup, but then we don't normally have I cup in the UK (do we?) so maybe it's an American sizing thing? At the very least it might be good for once things settle down (and I lose shed loads of weight naturally Smile).

I have also bookmarked this sexy number and this one too, although the second doesn't have the flexi wire thing like the one you linked too which I like the idea of.

I would have no qualms about wearing a properly fitted wired nursing bra if some bugger would make it in my size!

The rather fetching first one I've linked to there I'm thinking might do for being around the house and sleeping in if it is nice and supportive and comfy - I couldn't find anything to sleep in last time so just had to put up and shut up (or at least moan a lot to DH Blush)

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 20:30

Ninja - not quite quiet enough to worry about yet I don't think - I think it might have just moved a bit but am keeping a close eye. Might have a drink of lucozade with my tea now and see if that jiggers it about a bit........

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/02/2012 20:38

Biscuits, has your bean stopped moving at all or is s/he just moving less? If it's worrying you then you should go get checked out. Please don't sit and worry!

On the bra-repair front, Scream's suggestion sounds good - maybe you just need to reinforce the fabric where the wire is poking through. Failing that, cut a bit off something old, like a tea towel, pillow case, pair of pants etc and patch it with that. Last night I felt super-domesticated because I altered a dress to shorten the distance between shoulder and boob. It was a hand-me-down smart maternity dress, size L, and at 5'2" the shoulder straps were too long, so I sewed them shorter. I overdid it slightly, though, because I couldn't find any pins and guessed, so the straps wound up slightly too short and made the armholes dig in under my arms. Oh, and I like this bra for support - it isn't underwired but it is moulded so it feels more underwired.

Fishcake, I am planning to watch OBEM, yes! Envy of the creme egg - wish I had some chocolate in.

Ninja, I love the blanket! Can't knit either, though. My sewing skills are limited to the strictly practical like sewing on buttons or turning up hems, or making Halloween costumes.

Scarlet, that sounds terrifying! Hope he's on the mend now.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 08/02/2012 20:41

Sorry, cross posts - think that bra only goes up to a G. Ignore me! I'm currently in an F or FF and am worrying a bit.

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 20:48

I will get checked if I get any more worried iyswim - at the mo it's still moving, just not quite as often.

When I went in before the registrar chap that I saw said several times if I was worried or there were changes to go back in, so I will if it comes to it.

It's hard though because I don't want to go in every time the baby moves position a bit Confused

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/02/2012 21:04

Biscuits I have that sexy number Wink S L++! I think the sizing is generous on bravado, definitely in the original! I have two and they are going in my hospital bag, I find the bliss nicer, but I like my boobs under my chin. Look for an online shop that has returns so you can try or measure yourself according to their chart, they measure in a different way to.

Also with movements as the bay gets bigger there just isn't the room to move, I am having less movement but as limbs are still moving then I am not worrying as per advice!

Time for OBEM! Slightly scared about the battle for survival warning! Sorry to miss anyone, I am very jealous of crafty types I am rubbish!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/02/2012 21:07

Reduced here all the colours :)

Biscuitsandtea · 08/02/2012 21:16

Ooooh...........

I'm thinking I might get that humongous sports bra type thing and might chuck in a couple of those reduced ones. Then when things have settled maybe I'll try a bliss.....

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 21:50

Gosh, hope the no brookers watching OBEM are ok. That was awful. It was such a relief when the baby cried.

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 22:00

I don't watch it fishcake it's far too traumatic in many ways. Even watching a straightforward labour is traumatic!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/02/2012 22:09

Jeez! Did you hear the crack? That really got me :(

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 22:13

Shock what cracked?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 08/02/2012 22:21

You really want to know?

The baby, broken arm, was very, very stuck so they had to manipulate the baby to get it out. Beautiful baby and it is very rare that this happens.

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 22:23

The baby's shoulders got stuck and I think the clavicle was broken in order to manouvre (sp?) the baby out. The baby was ok in the end but they seemed to show the delivery in real time and it was pretty upsetting to watch, just seeing the parents' distress and the worry of the professionals. God knows how the parents felt. i think next week I will skim through the OBEM thread and then decide whether or not watch it!

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 22:27

I was very impressed by how calm the midwives, doctors etc were- they seemed to manage to keep the parents informed in quite a calm manner whilst working through the emergency. Very professional, at the risk of stating the obvious.

fishcakefoxtrot · 08/02/2012 22:35

On a completely different note, can anyone think of a reason not to just to use a normal bag as a nappy bag? I have been using my normal bag for ages, mainly because I don't have to cart very much around anymore- just a nappy, small pack of wipes and of course endless snacks.

I am going to need something bigger to take this plus baby stuff, changes of clothes etc. Providing breastfeeding works out again I won't have to carry bottles. So are there any real downsides to just getting a largeish tote from Accessorize or something and spending the money i save on creme eggs?

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 22:35

wow, just wow. I cannot begin to imagine what that must have been like for them. See this is why I don't watch it. Your brief synopsis is quite enough information to reassure me that I am doing the right thing!

NinjaChipmunk · 08/02/2012 22:37

you might need some kind of waterproof/ wipeable pocket? Thats really all I can think of.
