Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
msbuggywinkle · 06/01/2012 09:14

lmf Congratulations!

I am super organised this morning (apparently having three is what it took to get me organised!) washing done, lunch made, dinner started too. DD1's best friend and her Mum are coming round after lunch to play and meet Miri, I am really looking forward to it!

Figgygal · 06/01/2012 10:39

Wow I'm still in my pjs Danny has been bathed though as he spit up in the night all over himself, his bedding and was saturated when I woke him up this morning. He falls asleep during his night feeds so dint get chance to Wind him properly going to have to wake him up in future and hope he settles again after.

OiMissus · 06/01/2012 10:48

figgy I do the nighttime winds over my shoulder, it does the job and helps get him back to sleep.

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 06/01/2012 10:49

Got a diagnosis of viral meningitis. Consultant seemed optimistic that f is.unlikely to get any worse. fingers and toes crossed

msbuggywinkle · 06/01/2012 11:03

hawthers hugs, good that the consultant is optimistic. [nag] make sure you're looking after yourself too.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/01/2012 11:42

Well, in a one-baby attempt to prove the MN adage of 'this too shall pass' and the motto that everything is a phase (and to make me look a numpty) Ben promptly slept for three hours in his moses basket, from half 8 til now, deep joy.
Greeted OH in very sexy undone nightie, big knickers, dressing gown inside out and a wild stare, and leaking milk at him. Amazingly he's talking about getting contraception started....

msb that is phenomenal- I don't know how any of you with children as well as newborns are coping.

Viral meningitis is very scary hawthers but you and your LO sound like you're coping amazingly well, and the news from the consultant is good. Sounds like you caught it speedily which makes all the difference. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Quick question- esp to HLC who mentioned this- saline drops. Our boy is very snuffly, and I think that could have contributed to him being a bit out of sorts. Can you get them over the counter? Do they really work? Ta!

He stirs.. Grin

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 06/01/2012 13:15

One-handed so scuse any mistakes...

Northern saline drops are the bollocks! Rocco hates them obvoiusly & twists around to get away from them but then gets this relieved look when he can suddenly breath again. You can get them over the counter. Hope they help.

Congrats toLMF.

hawthers glaad to hear the consultant is optimistic but must be very scary! Hope mini is on the mend soon!

hopeful1 · 06/01/2012 14:12

Baby girl Noa Francie Kate was born this morning by cs at 9.40am weighing 10lbs 3 ounces!

Congrats to LMF!

I hope all the poorly babies get well very soon

AnAirOfHope · 06/01/2012 14:33

Congrats LMF and Hopeful - wow 10lb 3oz go Nia Grin

Hawthers - got all fingers and toes crossed for a speedy recovery, thinking about you and your family xx

Northern drops work really well, i give then just before i feed and then at night to aid sleep.

MissRee · 06/01/2012 14:52

Congrats hopeful Grin

Just me left then Sad

aethelfleda · 06/01/2012 16:36

Hey, missree, you are so close now, let's get you cheered to the finish line!

that reminds me of the poppadom-pompom sketch from Hale and Pace. daft Youtube link coming up in case you are younger than me and don't remember it...

Hope poorly babes are improving. I had our first little excursion today: walked the DDs to school with DS in my v comfy baby sling. Tired after doing it but was lovely to see some mums, and we're only a five minute amble from school and it felt like I was normalising things for the girls. And had lots of feeds/cuddles on the sofa and that's the day wiped out!

aethelfleda · 06/01/2012 16:42

Ah, it's the William Tell Overture by The Hale and Pace Body Orchestra: though I'm gutted to see it's the wrong sort of pompoms!
Silly though...

OiMissus · 06/01/2012 16:43

MissRee you win the Last Past The Post prize! Tis truly an honour and you are special! And your little one shall receive the booby prize!
Congratulations hopeful, and a warm welcome to Noa. Smile

OiMissus · 06/01/2012 16:47

He he he! Hale and Pace - very funny! I used to love Hale and Pace. Am quite old. Smile

aethelfleda · 06/01/2012 17:03

Oh yes, I don't think I linked to my chunky DS yet, did I?

aethelfleda · 06/01/2012 17:09

and Well done hopeful- with a weight like that an exit through the sunroof sounds extremely sensible: hope it wasn't in too much of a rush, and welcome to Noa!

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 06/01/2012 17:13

Aethel Albert is a cutie Grin

ladies please see baby.sceniceye.co.uk for pics & videos of Sky Smile

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 06/01/2012 17:14

We registered Sky today - What a palaver but at least it's been done now Smile Took her into Neil's work for cuddles today and surprisingly it was the men who wanted cuddles and not the women! Also came away with an iced apple filled donut yummy!

OiMissus · 06/01/2012 17:56

aethel - Albert is a cutie little chunkster! He's just so cuddle-able!darcies - thanks for sharing the link. Sky is really lovely - and I shall now be learning how to set up a page for Big Al. We've just bought a fancy schmancy video camera (what do you call them nowadays?) but hardly used it.
Have accomplished v little today. So glad it's Friday - it'll be great to have DH home this weekend. (although I bet he'll just want to watch sport on the TV). The Virgin media guy came this afternoon and was here for almost 2 hours. First LO starting whinging for a feed, so out came the boob - discretely, of course. Then, after the feed, I kept nodding off. He must have thought i was a bit weird.
hawthers viral meningitus sounds very scary. Good for you to have known something was wrong and get it checked out. I notice bits of things, and dismiss them as "nothing to worry abou"t, or "keep an eye on" - now I'm scared that I could miss something important. How are we trusted with such precious things??! I really must look up the First Aid for Babies course... I'll do that now.

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 06/01/2012 18:43

Oi Thanks Smile DP done it as I haven't a clue on how to do it!

OiMissus · 06/01/2012 18:58

Ok Ladies, I've started the photobook on www.snapfish.co.uk - log on as [email protected], password OiMissus. Upload your baby photo into the album, and then add it to the "Project" like I have done. We can then swap the pages around to put the babies in date order. Grin
The price for the books starts at £9.99, but if you wait for a 50% off offer, they are a bit of a bargain.
msbuggy you offered your DP's services... can he do better/cheaper? The beauty of snapfish, I guess, is that people can log in (as me) but then choose their own delivery address (but I'll get the delivery confirmation, I guess, to my email address...). I know some people will prefer to keep their details confidential. Anyone got any ideas of how else we can do this?
Thanks.

NorthernChinchilla · 06/01/2012 19:14

Hello baby Noa!

Thanks all re saline drops, I shall invest in some asap. By the way aethel, what make is your comfy sling?

I have also put- I hope!- some pics on my profile page. Tried to do it a while ago but with unnerving timing chose the day MN ate all the profiles Confused!

KateM77 · 06/01/2012 20:25

Congrats to LMF and Hopeful

aethelfleda · 06/01/2012 20:49

It's a Moby Wrap, Northern, the type of sling called a Wrap sling: there are several makes costing between £35 and £70 new, all effectively a long stretchy piece of cotton that you wrap around you and put baby in. There's several ways to use it and the newborn hug is soo comfy for baby. It's also
Good in this cold weather as babys legs are tucked in cosily, not dangling like the front carriers do. Go on youtube and there are vids showing you how to put it on: takes about 40 secs to tie and put baby in.

Here's where I got my moby wrap (the other wrap brands effectively the same are Kari-Me and
hug-a-Bub if you want to try ebay)
