New thread for new babies!

Previous thread at: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1363221-January-2012-Will-any-of-us-deliver-before-Father-Christmas-The-race-is-on?pg=20

Happy new year everyone, not long for those of us that haven't popped yet!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hugs and flapjacks to ghost and everyone else needing some.
The trick is to keep busy ghost, give everyday a purpose in order to distract yourself. Especially on your due date! That day can be awful if you give it too much attention. Remember that most first timers go over their date. Plan a pampered day or something for that day.

Really wish my back pain would come and go, come and go, rather than steadily get worse as the day gets on.

Karmanna · 10/01/2012 20:25

Seems like we're all pretty much ready to meet our budles of joy! Good luck to everyone with things happening! This thread will soon be packed with birth announcements I'm sure!

Dee, good luck with the sweep - hope it gets things moving!

Karmanna · 10/01/2012 20:25

Bundels - not budels!!

BigHotMama · 10/01/2012 20:51

Oooh exciting! good luck to cakes, missree and mummyzoe let's hope things speed up for you!

Sorry to hear about everyone feeling either I'll or fed up or just too heavy to go anything!

I'm behind most of you as only 38 wks tomorrow and still not had a bh yet.

Finally painted nursery today and I've spring cleaner 3 big cupboards out and filled 2 bin liners woop feels good!

Have any of you heard a cracking type noise when baby is squirming around? Sounds a bone clicking when baby changes position? Have heard it three times now really weird?

Am bit concerned with ds (5) as we've noticed he has started holding his breath and then every 10-20 seconds he takes a big breath? Not sure what it is but feel a trip to docs necessary, his breathing is ok during sleep so not sure if it's a habit?

Hope to hear some lovely baby news very soon good luck ladies x

Wormshuffler · 10/01/2012 20:57

Hi Ladies, Thanks for all the congratulations Hope I find you all well Grin. So Baby is now on day 5 and I have to admit I am truely knackered! Breastfeeding is going well-ish. Well in that I feel really proud to be feeding baby from something produced entirely by me, and that look she gives me when she is full is heart melting. However it really is hard work! and it hurts! not just in the nipples where you would expect, but also my back is killing. I must be doing something right in that when weighed today she had only lost 6% I was expecting more as we had 1 full day where she didn't nurse at all for a full day due to being mucusy from the ELCS. I will post a birth story later.............give you all chance to have your bundles. (and for all the shit parts to go out of my memory) Maybe in post natal if someone starts it [shy emocion]

I havn't read all the thread but know enough to say congratulations Flowers to giraffe mumtobe and nanny and come on the rest of you !! what you playing at Wink

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 21:08

Sounds great worm Smile

Supa has pointed out that we should probably link cakes's birth thread here for those of you who are keen:

here as a link or here for the linkedly challenged: m.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1380434-Waters-gone-waiting-for-everything-else-to-catch-up

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 22:12

Post natal thread. Not very interestingly named, but it's a start. We'll fill it quickly anyway if we're anythign like as chatty as we currently are!

FX for everyone. Abi's currently wriggling like a demon, giving me back ache. Been having a few HBs, but not thinking it's anything significant. Off for a bath and hopefully some bloody sleep.

tigana · 10/01/2012 23:35

Bah. Home. Not waters. Just lots of watery discharge. Still, at least she didn't say it was pee and no risk to baby from gbs so no need to induce labour because of it.
Niki I think wee=ammonia, waters=sweetish(have also heard waters smell like sperm...?!)

Worse news..she said I wasn't even looking close...2 or 3 days or more .

Off to bed to sulk.

emmyjj · 11/01/2012 00:36

It was three very slow miles, egged on by my DP, midwife advised walking is very good for moving things along and as we are farmers and therefor live surrounded by countryside I've got no excuse not to! I've been so lucky not to have suffered with any mobility probs while pg, have been able to remain pretty active. Was knackered when I got back though!

Lost a bit more plug tonight, woo hoo! Who knew something so gross could be so exciting!

Mmmmmm flapjacks - shonno might have to make some tomorrow now..... Good labour snack too I reckon! We're (over)due date buddies as well as rotten cold buddies then! Let's see if 40+10 brings us a better day!

ghost can sympathise on the clothes thing, so bored of my mat stuff, even the over bump jeans are irritating me now, the band doesn't cover the bump anymore and the bum sags - I'm constantly hoiking them up. Did think, as I was mid sob, maybe it's a could sign to be teary as it might be hormones ramping up!

Sorry to hear it wasn't waters tig, it's horrible to be told you're still a few days off. I was so optimistic before my sweep - ignorance was bliss, for all I knew I could have started dilating! Was quite disappointing to be told all was looking high and closed.

Congrats worm, well done on the bf-ing, sounds like you are doing brilliantly!

Another sweep lunchtime tomorrow - hope 48 hours has made a difference and the midwife finds things a bit more opened up! X

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 01:16

Still here. Still no regular cx. Anyone out there?

addictediam · 11/01/2012 02:42

Makescakes you should go to bed if nothong is happening, you need to.rest (and often the relaxation can bring labour on)

Just woke up with a really strong tightning thingy, passed wind and it was still really strong. Having my 3rd in 20 minutes.

Has anyone heard from trubble? She just posted (ok 3ish hours ago) on my status to say she had her baby yesterday! (I don't want to steal her thunder, so i won't say too much) The full moon worked for someone :o

Ooh this one is never ending! I can't concentrate long enough to respond to anyone else, nothing is sticking in my head! Sorry

laylasmummy09 · 11/01/2012 02:44

Hiya everyone, sorry I haven't posted much recently its a bit mad here, went to visit sis and twins sunday but could only see mia as lilley was in icu butshe is now doing much better and they are all on the ward together Smile on another note I'm currently in bed on the birthing unit and no signs of labour just a stupid bug/food poisoning that knocked me for 6 and I'm on a drip 5th bag of fluid and finally improving, should be allowed home later today, I was so ready for baby to come but now I need a few days to recover, sorry for poor catch up but wishing all the luck in the world to you labouring ladies and those getting near, will catch up properly when I get home x

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 03:55

Layla, what a shocker, food poisoning hey? Poor you!

Addicted, now that sounds like progress, keep up the good work lady!

Ok, advice needed. I've been having tightenings for about 20 hours, working down from about 15 min frequency to 9 mins when I went to bed. Now at 6-7 min frequency but about 90 seconds each so the gap is 4.5-5.5 mins, and uncomfortable enough to make me want to move around, but not painful. I've had literally no other signs of labour but have had regular runs of HBs for weeks, and these do feel more 'effective' iyswim. Is it time for the TENS machine (I hear the earlier you start, the better) or is sleep better at this stage? And do I keep DH home if the pattern is the same in the morning or send him off (20 miles away)?

Please keep fx for me, I will feel so silly if it's another false alarm...

emmyjj · 11/01/2012 04:02

Ooh addicted sounds promising! Are they still going?

cakes it must be so strange waiting for things to ramp up, have you had any proper cx yet? Is it obvious what is a cx and what is a hb? Am so curious having never done this before! Hope things are picking up x

laylas how horrid to be so poorly - fingers crossd you get some respite to recover your strength before you begin your labour. Brilliant news on the twins!

Hope we hear from trubble and her full moon little one soon! Glad we didn't completely disprove that theory!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 04:15

it's not obvious at all I don't think!

Ghost - I would say wait until the last m inute to decide about DH, but maybe make him take the car if he does go? Are you getting low down pains of any kind? Restless sensations, like you want to pace but don;t know why? Those are the only real indicators I had...

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 04:26

Well aside from the very rare instance of me being awake (am blaming that on excitement for you!) I feel crampy, but like the worst day of my period, which is pretty mild. During the cx (let's call them that for the sake of argument and typing) I would much rather not be lying down, but not quite enough to get up and about (trying not to wake DH, or alarm him unnecessarily). When I went to bed ppm was going BSM, felt like sort of smushing into my cervix.

I think trying to sleep might be the way but trying to fall asleep through the sensation is evidently v different than staying asleep through it!

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 11/01/2012 04:29

Sounds like cx to me - I'd probably leave DH in peace, but don't let him go off to work. Getting up and about might move things forward I suppose...

Keeping my fingers tightly crossed, it'd be lovely if we managed to deliver on the same day! :D

ParsleyLion1 · 11/01/2012 06:19

Morning ladies Smile

Fx for cakes and ghost today - and poss addicted as well.

addictediam · 11/01/2012 07:08

I don't think I'm going to be having a baby today. I went back to bed at 3.30 woke up.an hour later with a really strong one, managed to get back to sleep then woke at 5 went to the toilet and my body had an almighty clear out (sorry probably !little tmi!) Got back to sleep and dd was up at 6. I've had a few more bit nothing regular, some are just hb type ones others I have to stop and think about. I'm going to walk to the post office later with dd (3/4 mile each way) hopefully that might kick something off!

Good luck ghost, it sounds like yours and cakes lo may share a birthday, how exciting :o

Moobee · 11/01/2012 07:41

Morning all, just a quick one to say best of luck and have everything crossed for cakes and ghost!

Laylasmummy sorry to hear you've not been well, hope you are fully better soon.

Fingers crossed for everyone else - sending birthing vibes where they're needed! (absolutely no news here still )

shonnomanom · 11/01/2012 07:47

Not awake enough to comment individually. But good luck to those in the process and get well soon to those poorly.

Woke during the night to tend to dd, bubs had moved and had its entire bum under my rib. Was very very painful. Lying just now it feels a but more spacious so here's hoping its popped back down properly.

Nanny01 · 11/01/2012 08:08

addictediam I had my labour started with a few contractions and a bit of a clear out. As for others asking I would let them know when it kicks off for real. As long as you are ready to go when it happens all will be ok.

Can't believe my baby is a week old. He slept 3 hours between feeding last night so we are making some progress.

ghosteditor · 11/01/2012 08:40

Addicted, that sounds pretty convincing to me - hope that walk goes ok and keep us up to date!

Emmy I just realised that the evening stroll I do with DH quite frequently is almost two miles, so three miles doesn't seem quite so adventurous - maybe I over-reacted a bit! Definitely still impressive but not as out there as I thought Wink.

I did manage to sleep which is a good thing but probably means it's not really labour Sad. I'm still having regular cx at 8 minute intervals (so 6.5 min gaps) but nothing else. Have despatched DH to work and will call him back if it goes anywhere. I feel like a bit of a fraud but must keep thinking positive thoughts about how it's all good preparation to open up my body. Today is a new, cheerier day!

Karmanna · 11/01/2012 08:45

Morning all. Fx for ghost and cakes! We need some more birth announcements on this thread!

Still no real symptoms for me apart from the odd BH - come on baby!! Thankfully my friend's coming round to keep me company today - I'm getting so bored cooped up in the house on my own - stupid pelvic pain!

Hope everyone's having a good morning.

addictediam · 11/01/2012 09:14

This is the weirdest feeling. I have a strong Cx, when its eased off I am totally and completely drained, fall asleep for 10-20 minutes and either wake up having a cx or wake up just in time to have one then crash out again Confused I can't keep this up, although dh is working from home today, he can only do so much while watching dd.

I'm going to have a shower and get dressed now i think, try and find some energy from somewhere. I may end up walking to the po and getting dh to pick us up Blush
