I'm so confused - had a nap as I'd been up since 1am and when I woke they had all but stopped.

Now looking to get closer together again but 12 hours on from first cx, I don't appear to be any closer to having my baby Sad

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 13:38

ghost - regular HBs yesterday was how this all started I think. Got DH to do some light touch massage earlier which did seem to really kickstart them into feeling squeezier and more satisfying somehow, so maybe ask your DH to do it for you when he gets back (basically a naked back and very very light stroking across as much skin surface as possible so it makes you almost shivery feeling. It's very pleasant and gets that oxytocin racing around... at the very least it's a nice experience!)

DH is having a nap atm, which I'm pleased about, means he can be on his game for later. Was highly amused to hear him mumble, just before he dozed off "hrmf, labour is tiring."

As for me, I have a normally stand-offish cat being very friendly and a normally very friendly cat who has turned into feline velcro! The clingy one has been weird for the last couple of days, DH and I both noticed it, but it's amplified today - skittish, worried looking, very needy - I mjust be giving off lots of pheromones or something.

Oh well, off to have some lunch I think.

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 13:38

How frustrating missree! It's all progress though, and it's important to rest when you can. Every contraction is one less that you have to live through, at least....

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 13:44

Hi cakes, all songs promising! So no pain then yet? Fabulous!

Have to decide whether to do Pilates tonight - think I will do as it's good to keep moving, but my poor instructor is so worried that I'll give birth in class that I think she'd rather I stayed home.

Have you all seen the weather? Due, finally, to get cold by the end of the week - so my poor confused garden might get its cold spell after all! I always pictured snuggling up with a newborn in very cold Jan weather, so maybe that's what my body is waiting for...

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 13:56

none whatsoever, just very squeezy pressure feelings.

I think my body was waiting for my MW to come back off leave like she made me promise! lol :D I hope it doesn;t get too cold - I was looking forward to taking LO out and about in the fresh air and I wil be terrified of doing that if it's too chilly.

Bah - why am I still getting horrid acid?

tigana · 10/01/2012 14:02

birthy vibes to all those with twinges/cxs. And to those who would settle for twinges at this point!!

cakes sorry to say this but I had heartburn during labour with ds, even once I was in the delivery suite!

FrillyMilly · 10/01/2012 14:09

cakes when do you have to go back if things haven't started off?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 14:15

rats. Oh well, can't be many more days of it now and I still have most of a bottle of Gaviscon!

How'd the dentists go ghost?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 10/01/2012 14:16

Milly 7.30am tomorrow I have to show up at the hospital, but I'm feeling pretty confident that things are progressing at the moment... PMA and all that!

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 14:21

mia Yeah, Abi goes totally BSM on a CTG, though not usually above about 180 and her trace reads allover the place. But, they seem to think it's a good thing.

mz Glad to hear everything's good.

parsley Nursery debate here too. Is it really worth me putting Abi in a nursery to absorb all my wage?! We're thinking maybe I go back only on Sundays, but that buggers up my chances of a promotion and thus more money...but the work in itself would be useful for pensions etc...and takes away my weekends with my family. I'm hoping we can just somehow afford for me to do a full year of ML, only down for 6mths at the moment, as that might be mentally better for me, I guess it depends on how flexible work can be with hours etc.

ghost no. I just knew that would be an utterly tasteless thing to say as I was typing it. Hey-ho. This is becoming a regular thing with the helicopter...bloody irrititating.

cakes Cats are meant to be able to pick up on these things. I just don't know how the hell mine are going to react. They're mental as it is so might not be able to tell. Already have feliway on the go to help remove their anxiety and have some zylkene if needed.

Have a bad outbreak of spots at the moment. Probably means nothing, but it's frustrating as there's a huge one by my eyebrow...

HeyNiki · 10/01/2012 14:24

Cakes - Just seen your live labour thread, so best of luck!

Kicking myself that I have only found the January mums thread 2 weeks before EDD! Damnit!

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 14:34

Welcome niki. Grin Pull up a chair and join in!

addictediam · 10/01/2012 14:35

Cakes with dd once I had an epi all I could feel was pressure pushing down squeezy feelings. So it could all be good and dialating you. Keep with the PMA.

I really want to tidy and clean, but am just too tired (despite having the best night sleep in days, go figure!) I might have a quick nap while dd is sleeping and then give the house a good blitz.

I was ment to have a mw appointment today, but she had no slots left so I had to see a gp instead. What an utter waste of time that was! He didn't know what he was doing, couldn't tell if there was protine in my urine or not and recorded my bp as 75/104 when i questioned this as being abnormal, he said no, its normal (turns out he wrote it the wrong way round) he tried to listen to babies hb but couldn't find it (luckly i could so I'm not too concerned then he said, have you felt her move today? I said no, but its not unusual for me to not feel her until evening. His responce was oh ok, I'm sure babies fine then. And he sent me on my way Shock Angry stupid man. I also used the opportunity to get some new inhalers, he messed that up too, luckly the pharmacist at boots is lovely and gave the right medication and is sorting it out for me. (nothing to do with watching me run around after dd while trying to hobble on crutches and bursting in to tears when finding out Inhaler was wrong and wrong quantity!)

Thankfully I have an appointment next tuesday with my lovely mw and ive booked slots until 41 weeks figuring I can cancel when baby turns up (as I'm high risk i have weekly appointments)

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 14:37

Well you're very welcome on the thread niki and I'm sure we can point you in the direction of the 5000 or so posts we've made so far, if you like Grin

It was ok cakes - she just filed the tooth a bit and said to come back after the baby is born to have a crown. I don't want a big metal crown in my mouth though so it looks like it'll be £500+ to build a white crown that's strong enough. If I'm lucky, private treatment may be a bit cheaper, and I'll get better aftercare.

Not what I wanted on mat pay though, would have to dip into savings. And there's a risk that a ceramic would crumble under the pressure of my tooth grinding.

What I really need is to find a bruxism specialist who can fix my jaw/grinding problem - that will solve teeth issues, headaches, jaw ache, and some other neck/spine problems I've been having, but the NHS won't help me and as an existing condition it's not covered by BUPA. I'm thinking of trying a cranial osteopath next.

Sorry for the me-me-me post, this is a long running issue that is really bothering me as I can't figure out how to fix it.

addictediam · 10/01/2012 14:39

Xpost with, well every one!

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 14:39

Sorry, xpost addicted - that's not very helpful is it?! Sometimes GPs can be useless! Glad you got sorted...

fishandlilacs · 10/01/2012 14:44

Welcome Niki x

HeyNiki · 10/01/2012 14:46

Addicted I had dealings with a slack GP like that on new years day at the walk in centre, went feeling unwell, headaches, sudden swelling and there was protein in my urine. Took my BP with what turns out was the wrong size cuff and sent me on my way. Fast forward to this week, went to ANDU for my bi weekly monitoring sesh and found my bp was 161/116 got admitted to the ward and am now on regular Labetalol. Grrr.

Everybody else ok? [looks hopeful]

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 14:47

Hows about this for post-natal?
"Jan 2012: The Higgs Boson Gang...or should that be the Higgs Bosom gang?"
Still on the search for feeding tops. They all have front-frill or are stripy.

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 14:53

Oeisha, jojo maman had some in the sake that were plain long or short sleeved with a tie at the front which hides cut out bits over your boobs - is that what you meant? Also, when buying birthing nighties at Primark, I came across cheap vests which were very long (ideal for post partum belly!) which I understand works well if you pull the best down a bit and the covering top up a bit, iyswim.

miamama09 · 10/01/2012 14:54

fish yep got to in Thurs morning to find out what the plan in for Friday and what time they want us. Since it's been booked I've managed to sort childcare for DD etc, which is handy. Got both grandfathers flying in on Thursday night, one staying here the other with SIL.
It's nice knowing that if nothing happens, at least we know what the plan is.

when is your ELCS scheduled for if no VBAC?

Oeisha · 10/01/2012 15:13

ghost I'm probably going to be at least a size 20...in that I am in most stores already (I can sometimies squeeze in to well elasticated 18s). That's my main problem...lots of nice tops, as long as you don't have massive norks. Lots of sites say they do 20+ but you have to ring them to check availability.

I can see me just sticking with the clothes I have and indellicatly hoiking stuff about. I did invest in a poncho for this reason. Should really be saving money for trousers, as I know for sure I have basically nothing that's gonna fit when she's out. Unless I literally lose nothing in terms of waist. My pre-pg 14s still just do up round her.

ghosteditor · 10/01/2012 15:28

Oh I see the problem! Jojo sizes do come up biggish but I think they only go to a large - I was surprised to find that the small nursing tops fit me (bump and all) with room to spare right now, but figured that I'll want loose-ish stuff after the birth anyway. I'm usually a 10-12. Good hunting though!

Having a good run of BHs now, am bouncing on the ball a bit. Might start timing to see where I'm at, though must tell myself not to expect it to lead anywhere soon...

aBundanceOfTime · 10/01/2012 15:34

Oh bloody hell Oeisha, I'm too scared to even think about post preg clothes, esp the top half when it comes to BF! You'd think nursing wear of all clothing would accommodate bigger norks!

I've had to retire to bed because bump and back have gotten way too uncomfortable this afternoon.

DawnOfTheDee · 10/01/2012 15:47

Hello all....sorry not managed to catch up with everyone yet (just how many pages do I need to read...??? Wink) but hope you're all ok.

Have just namechanged as still had my christmas one on (previously DeeOfTheNorthPole).

I'm 3 days overdue and officially fed up!
