Oh no bb3, so much illness! And your poor ds has that on top of his chest infection... I hope you're all feeling better soon. I'm liking the sound of your feeding routine. Even if i manage to express and give ebm in a bottle, I like the thought of being 'done' feeding at 2pm

Last night was a total fluke and I am stuck with a banshee-screaming baby who won't go to bed, despite having been 'exercised' easily as much as yesterday... (The excitements of our day today were a visit to the garden centre where there are tanks and tanks of fish, plus small animals etc- dd lived it, we spent at least 25 min looking at the rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas...) I'm refusing to get her out of her cot, and am sat just outside her door on the landing and she knows when I'm here and shuts up... currently trying to shut the door more so she can't see me. I have toddler taming and the baby whisperer beside me, psyching myself up!!! The baby whisperer, small part I've just read says toddlers and generally all under 5's should have a bedtime of 7-7:30... Not for lack of trying but its not happening here!!! Books always make me feel like I'm doing things wrong...particularly the baby whisperer as she's very black and white. I'm prefering the other.

rednellie · 31/12/2011 20:42

dream, don't listen too much to the Baby Whisperer. I think that book tends to see children as 'problems' that need 'fixing'! You're doing great. Imagine we're all sitting there with you holding your hand. Good progress that you can sit outside. Little little steps, but that sounds good to me. Good luck!

quempin, know what you mean. Go with the flow I reckon - that's what I keep trying to tell myself!

We're off to an island in the Gulf Coast (makes it sound warm and tropical, will actually be freezing and windy). We got a cheap deal because of going after the new year - I'm planning on eating my way round the island (it's meant to be known for its organic farms and cheese!!!!). We're all having to share a room so DH and I are taking loads of books so we can hide in bed under the covers reading once DD goes to sleep. Bliss.

I had a funny night last night, couldn't sleep at all as I couldn't feel the babies kicking. Was sort of awake/asleep and had all sorts of horrible dreams. I'm fine now, they're kicking like mad again and reading through all your experiences of kicking/not kicking had helped...man, I love feeling them move, but I will not miss the ups and downs of being pregnant. Here's to the last trimester!

claireinmodena · 31/12/2011 22:36

Happy new year everyone, less than hzlf an hour here, dh + girls preparing fireworks in garden.

Dream hope your dd eventually got to slerp, books often make you feel inadequate, babies are not machines!

Bb3 hope the meficines sort you all out

Rednellie enjoy uour break.

Happy and healthy 2012 to all of you and your families!!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 31/12/2011 23:57

Happy New year everyone!

(Says she just getting into bed!)

rednellie, hope your trip is good! I like your style, eat your way round, lol. Mmm, cheese!! Last time I was a healthy eater, this time I'm using pregnancy to eat as.much chocolate as possible... I am giving up on the Baby Whisperer. According to her my dd should never have slept through as I used 'props' for sleep (bf) and accidental parenting and all kinds of other guilt-inducing notions. I agree, being out of sight on the landing is a step forward, both Dh and I find the banshee-baby screaming v stressful so not willing to listen for hours, so we're going for this approach even if it may be a little longer. Toddler taming is much more sensible so far. But 2 hours a night is a serious waste of my time and energy on her sleep!!!! It's awful when you think they're not moving... Glad the little tikes have stopped tormenting you. Our buggy was delivered by the family we bought it from today- their little girl was 21 months when their non id boys were born and she said its great!! Her twins are 4 now. Said her dd was great at helping- fetching wipes and nappies etc. She has encouraged me!

quempin, if you have a go at bf and do EBF or mixed feeding you'll always know you tried. You might be a natural and surprise yourself, but it wouldn't matter if you hated it and ff. I was so determined to EBF last time. If I'd 'failed' at it I'd have felt awful, so your approach is much more sensible. In fact, I was looking forward to bf last time, while i view it with some trepidation thid time through having busy, attention-demanding little dd to consider and two to fit in- I spent enough time feeding dd!!

Hello Claire, how did your dds menu go? Enjoy the fireworks. I'm just enjoying the quiet after the two hour Bedtime Battle!!!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 11:27

Oooh, for those who haven't had them yet, this is the year we meet our babies!!

Tired. Another 2 hours in the night getting dd back to sleep after a massive coughing fit. Don't know how you're coping being ill yourself with more than one ill child bb3, I'm finding pg and ill/not sleeping baby plenty hard enough!!!

BB3 · 01/01/2012 13:12

Yay for the year of the babies!!!

I actually had a reasonably good night so feel relatively human but went to bed at 9 so that's probably why Blush

xkatyx · 01/01/2012 17:01

Happy new year everyone.

Sorry to hear of all the poorly kiddies! I have a poorly little girl who has a tempature. Just waiting for doctor to call, I'm hoping they will come out and see her as it would be too much with twins etc.

Just one thing after another.

bigboobsatlast · 01/01/2012 18:20

Hello all - Happy New Year! Hope every one had a good eve and day today. I was in bed by 10pm so not very exciting - although that is an hour later than usual! DD was not feeling herself for some reason and was up half the night so shattered today!

Dream - how old is your DD? Mine is 2 in Feb, and a few months ago went through a stage of fighting going to bed - passed (eventually) without having to do anything in particualt. I think its all to do wth development stages. Is she starting to learn something new? Physical or vocab? Just a thought. In will get better. My DD goes to bed ok (me or DH always stay with her until she is asleep, which I dont have a problem with) but has only slept through about twice in her whlole life! So I am certainly no sleep expert...!!

20 wk scan on Weds - can't wait so excited but at the same time nervous as want to know everything is ok. And we have decided to find out the sex which we did not do last time with DD - so very excited about that too!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 01/01/2012 19:38

Hi bigboobs, my dd is 15 months. Maybe its just a phase and will pass too... She was so tired tonight, the sitting on the landing didn't work, she got upset and was sick in her cot... At least she was standing up so missed her enough that I'm not changing her tonight, just did the cot. She's teething, has had a terrible run of various illnesses and is quite possibly thinking about getting a first word or something (about time!!). If I could just stay with her and her go to sleep I would- tried that.. she'll stay quieter in her cot but doesn't drop off. I thought might be different in the night so tried it for 45 min in desperation around 3am last night, no joy... Oooh, good luck for the scan, not that you'll need it. I was so worried about mine though. Can't wait to hear whether you're having boys or girls!! Also dying to find out if quempin is right with her boys prediction. Smile

Monster buggy arrived. It's vast, truly vast. I hope I haven't made a big mistake. Plus so awkward to use compared to my babyjogger (with lying down seats etc). I'm wishing I'd just gone for the BJ city mini double...

Oh no Katy, not what you need!!! Hope your little girl is ok and her temp comes down. Surely the Dr will come out to you with days old twins, so soon after a CS.

xkatyx · 01/01/2012 19:48

No such luck!!! They told us they could come out after 10pm or bring her down after 9pm!

The weather is awful we wernt taking her out that tine of night and 10pm or later visit?! Really .. She is 11 months old. Mind you I can understand them being busy at the moment.

Calpol took temparure down thankfully so keep a eye on her and call back first thing in the morning.

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 02/01/2012 10:29

Oh dear, hope she's brighter this morning Katy. We took our LO out to the doctor's at 9pm at 12 months, but her temp was still 39.2 after calpol and nurofen and we were worried about meningitis as she had no sign of a virus or anything. I was panicking as Dh thought she'd be admitted and have a lumbar puncture, but luckily she avoided that and didn't have meningitis.

claireinmodena · 02/01/2012 11:55

Oh katy poor you, hope your LO is better today and was seen by domeond last night.

How was your night dream?

Hello again bigboobs, best of luck with your scan on weds!

For those who asked, NYE was s complete success, breadrolls yummy and cooked to perfection, perfect pasta bake (dd1 even made the bechamelle-cheese sauce herself!) and then icecream with thin honey biscuits. They wiuldnt even let us lay the table!

And sorry no secrets... But they're normal kids, you should see them when they're start fighting!! We've just bern very lucky really! (mind you dd1 was an extremely challenging toddler, with terrible twos starting at 18 months and finishing at around 6!!! So I suppose I've paid my dues in advance, now I'm hoping she'll be alright as a teenager too)

Just realised, in a couple if years of time i will have two toddlers, one teenager and a preteen, better start stocking up on the prozac!

I'm really getting stressed out about ptospect of cs now, I know theres nothing I can do and that it is fine fir most people, also I have been lucky enough to have had two beautiful experiences with dd1&2, so shouldnt complain really, but cang help feeling I am beeing cheated in some way.

Sd I keep hoping they will turn, ans counting dats to next scan at 34 wks which might be decisive.

All the best to everyone

BB3 · 02/01/2012 15:55

Oh Katy - how is she this morning? Did they come out?

dream- how waddy night!

Ohhh Claire - send your girls my way please... That sounds yum!

Well we have a pretty crappy start to the new year, we are in hospital with ds. Hoping he won't be admitted but at the same time he is really struggling to breathe now so I just want them to fix him Sad

BB3 · 02/01/2012 19:05

Was your dd last night - not waddy

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 02/01/2012 19:33

Oh my goodness bb3, your poor little boy. How is he now? I hope he's been seen quickly and they can help him with his breathing. Hope he hasn't got pneumonia or something :-( I suppose it would be a logistical nightmare with the girls too- would you all have to stay in with him?? Give us an update when you can.

After cleaning up the sick, and a 2.5 hour bedtime marathon again, dd slept through last night!! I wish I'd made the most of it and gone to bed earlier, but stayed up discussing names with Dh, which was actually quite nice! I'm currently lying half in, half out of dd's room and so far she's lying quietly-ish in her cot. and so the Bedtime Battle begins. Surely persistance will win in the end?! (Mine not hers!!)

Claire, I think a planned CS is a worrying time. You hear good and bad stories about recovery, and the scary part is not knowing which camp you'll fall into... And it is major surgery. Shame its twin one not twin two that's breech, they don't seem concerned if its T2. I'm just such a wimp worrier I don't want a breech delivery, sounds too painful!

Oh, not even pressed post and the complaining is ramping up from behind the door... I've inched out- mostly because my back couldn't take the other position!!!

xkatyx · 02/01/2012 20:18

She was so much better this morning no temp at all. Alot happier too :)

Bb3 do you mind me asking about your postpartum bleeding? Mines been very stop start?! Not sure if this was a csection thing? But I'm sure it was like this with others.

Also (tmi) I had a few clots too, again I remember this from last time .. Just finding something to worry about I guess.

BB3 · 02/01/2012 20:21

We are still here - he has a bronchial infection and has been admitted - the girls are with my mum with enough ebf to sink a battle ship. Ds has been wonderful and only really had a meltdown with the blood test and canula (sp?) insertion but then that hurt me with cs if i remember! I'm really sad my first night away from the girls is under these circumstances Sad but I won't leave him.

Good luck with dd tonight - will catch up properly tomorrow!

BB3 · 02/01/2012 20:23

Yes stop start Katy - I stopped for up to week / 10 days then started again - up until 7-8 weeks I think - whereas with ds it was constant. Clots for me too although nothing huge!

BB3 · 02/01/2012 20:23

Glad dd is better today x

xkatyx · 02/01/2012 20:29

Oh bb3 your poor little boy!!! This time of the year is awful for horrible germs. I really hope he makes a very speedy delivery and you can all be at home together, leaving the girls mystery add awful stress. But I would totally be the same!

DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas · 02/01/2012 21:15

Oh, your poor ds bb3, and cannulas do hurt!! I hope he got magic cream first! Stressful situation for your first night away from the girls Sad and i suppose he'll be in a few days if he's on IV antibiotics will he? You must be so proud of him being so brave and at least he's being 'fixed' now. Thank goodness you've expressed and the girls.take a bottle

On a happier note for me, it took a while but finally got dd to sleep in her room while I was on the landing. No tears. I'm so much happier on evenings when there are no tears. Too soft for my own good. No wonder Dh is bricking it about coping with the twins too!!

tiggersreturn · 02/01/2012 21:51

Congratulations Katy! I remember you joining towards the end of my stint on this thread. If you need newborn advice try the multiples board. They're very helpful. My two are now 4 1/2 months (or 3 corrected) and great fun on occasion.

BB3 · 03/01/2012 10:26

Hi tigers how are you? How are the boys

BB3 · 03/01/2012 12:01

Sorry - drs came!

dream yay for dd!

Looks like we are here until Thursday SadSad ds can't regulate his oxygen levels so is on oxygen and steroids for his lungs xx I miss my babies and I hate hospitals Sad and ds is very scared x Sad

Sorry for miserable post!

xkatyx · 03/01/2012 12:36
