claireinmodena · 11/02/2012 15:54

Good news for your sister mummylin, we're on our way home too after a very long wait for paperwork as well!

Cant wait to be home with the family all reunited!

claireinmodena · 11/02/2012 15:56

Dream you look very neat indeed! I liok roughly like that now! Except legs the size of an elephants!

BB3 · 11/02/2012 16:14

Oh yeah Claire that takes a while to go down!

BB3 · 11/02/2012 16:14

But yay for going home!!!

goingmadtrying · 11/02/2012 19:37

yay for you both to be going home and with both babies:) enjoy the rest of the weekend

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 21:19

Hooray for going home with your babies claire, don't you dare feel bad in the slightest about the lack of bf, that'll be the crazy hormones, and in 10 years who'd ever know!? I still can't believe you're taking TWO babies home! How amazing. Fill us in when you get a chance.

hi goingmad, hope you're feeling a bit better. Did you decide when to finish work?

I've now worked out how to edit my photos etc- have removed the dubious uncovered bump ones and only left the more respectable one- how vain Wink

I've been having quite strong braxton-hicks all day- every 30 min apart max, but sometimes more often. Sure it means nothing, as I had loads with DD (when I went in for induction it took them ages to believe me they were BH not early labour) but I don't remember so many so early?! Just a twin pg thing?

Hooray for your sister home with her two too mummylin, all hints, tips and info appreciated on here Smile

Thank goodness for the weekend for you bb3, hope the girls are improving and you can ahve some rest and sleep. Is K's cough/chest getting better too?

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend?

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 21:24

and yes- have jusy googled beyonce's baby- very, very sweet. Dying to have mine here safely now and stop torturing myself with thoguhts of going for a routine scan and there only being one heartbeat I reckon having a date to aim for is going to make it go more slowly not faster- doh!

oh- and how could I forget- what a fanastic outcome rednellie!!!!!! I'm so chuffed for you. Right Twin B, keep wriggling down, twin A, foot out the way. It's such a good thing you booked yourself that appointment, sounds very productive. Did she manage to move twin A at all? But it's very exciting to have VB a possibility rather than a definite no. eeeek!!! Hooray!!

rednellie · 11/02/2012 22:33

Eeeek! Hooray! It is...I'm just so glad I met this OB, she's so lovely and treats me as if I have at least some amount of intelligence. Did I ever tell you lot that my soon to be ex-OB did a breast exam at my first appointment without explaining why and he was talking so much and I was so flustered I didn't ask him why or get a chance to refuse. I know it's a little thing, but to me it didn't bode well for later on, and how right I was.

claire, yey for going home and mummylin's sister. Great news all round.

You're comment about the baby belly claire made me laugh - my brother (who I love to bits, but who is a tad untactful) asked me why I still looked 6 months pregnant a week after I gave birth. I almost brained him. Silly boy. His girlfriends pregnant now so he'll get his comeuppance! Grin

Am feeling immensely cheery, long may this continue (despite the disgusting reflux which only just started last night - suggestions on a postcard).

DreamingOfPeace · 11/02/2012 22:55

Rennies and Gaviscon Advance, in copious amounts, often swigged from the bottle (but beware the crusty bits round the rim) Wink Thats my advice so far rednellie

TUBE?! (Totally Unnecessary Breast Examination?!) Sorry, bad joke. I hope there was a good reason. I have an MAerican book on twin pg I was given, and sure I read breast exam in it and snorted at the thought- not in the UK!

The baby belly after giving birth is depressing...But at least its not solid and you can bend Smile . i can barely ean forward at all now, my belly is so huge and solid... bah.

goingmadtrying · 12/02/2012 00:20

i apologise in advance that im going to moan :(

i am truly fed up, im fed up with being shattered cause i work till 11pm every weekend and don't get home till gone half past [grr] and im fed up of having nose bleeds but them not coming out my nose but running down my throat!! im sick of it and its getting me down my:( think ill contact my gp on Monday.

i wanted to ask your advice, do you think finishing work at26 weeks is too early, mat leave would start at start at just over 32 weeks. i would like to relax a little especially at weekends before babies come and spend some time with boys, would return to work at 11 months if babies came on time, just don't know if im being lazy, also want try and guarantee using full hol pay before babies born, what Do you think????

rednellie · 12/02/2012 02:36

I think you have to listen to what your body is telling you goingmad. And no, I don't think 26 weeks is too early. In the olden days people used to stop work at 28 weeks and that was for singleton pregnancies. Also, the likelihood is your twins will come a bit early so you may still get a full 12 months at home with them.

Either way, if you're feeling down and need to rest then do. 26 weeks onward is hard work, whatever you do and from 30 weeks it really does hit you. I'm literally counting the seconds until my Mum turns up to help out with my DD. And what you said about spending some quality time with your boys makes total sense. HTH (look at me with all my mn lingo! You'd never think I was new to this about a month or two ago Grin). PS You are allowed to moan here, that's what this thread is for!

Thanks for the advice dream, I'll try and find the Canadian equivalent. I still get odd looks when I ask for paracetamol in the pharmacists rather than acetaminophen! And Grin at TUBE. Seriously, what was that all about? Glad I'm not the only one who thinks its weird.

BB3 · 12/02/2012 08:00

Ah TUBE? Good lord, why on earth did he do that?! I've never even heard of it, I definitely wouldn't want him near my bits and bobs! Hmm

Goingmad, the way I see it (or what i told people when I was pg with the girls) is that you are carrying two babies which is twice as hard so technically 26 weeks = 52 weeks and that is definitely not too early to start mat leave. In all seriousness it's not o early at all, likelihood is you will have your babes by 36/37 weeks anyway so technically 6 ish weeks of mat leave. If I was ever pg with twins again I'd stop at 28 ish weeks (without holiday).

bigboobsatlast · 12/02/2012 08:08

Hi ladies! sorry for lack of posting, I have been thoroughly exhausted this week and now cant wait to finish work so I can take it easier and have some rest. Only this coming week to go and I am only in 2.5 days so the end is very much in sight! I have great plans of doing housework, sorting cupboards, filling the freezer..... but not sure how realistic that is! !

Going mad, 26 weeks is not too early if thats what you want to do. i am 26 weeks on weds and finish on the fri!

I am still so excited for you Claire, and great news about going home. Hope all is go going well and you are getting at least some rest! Don't beat yourself up about bf. I majorly stressed about it with dd as it just didn't work, and it took away from the enjoyment if those first few weeks. I wont let that happen again this time. If it works, great but if not, then that's fine to.

Rednellie - great news re turning baby! It makes such a difference having an approachable doc doesnt it? When does your mum arrive? My parents are here for the weekend and the benefit of help definitely outweighs the inevitable parent / child annoyances! And dd loves having them here which is so nice to see. She was 2 yesterday and she had such a good day.

Sorry if i have missed updates dream...how are your nights going and have you decided re paid help? We were going to drop dds nursery to 2 days instead of 3 but parents have offered tp help financially to keep the 3 days. Dd LOVES nursery and will keep in her routine and i will get 3 days just with the boys (still love saying that!) - and only 3 days on my own with all 3. So feeling ok about it all I think!
I think I am going to brave a post on the sleep thread as dds sleep still far from great.

I am sorry of this is tmi....... me and dh had not had sex for about 2 months as i was feeling a bit paranoid about it... but we did have sex last night. All ok i think but I am just feeling paranoid that I should be avoiding it! I never worried with dd, I just feel I need to be more cateful coz there are 2! How does everyone else feel about it? Am I worrying about nothing? I do miss the closeness with dh so i don't really want to abstain (even though I am feeling far from sexy!!)

Hope you don't mind me saying that!

Hello to everyone else and sorry if I have missed any news etc x

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 09:44

bigboobs, touch wood, dd slept through last night, making it the fifth in a row. Bedtime remains difficult- I'd thought we were making great progress but I'm back on the landing a lot now!!! And we've not had sex for months. Since I had v bad braxton hicks and spotting at 16 weeks- even though a scan then confirmed cervix closed. Even though we know its probably fine and wouldn't do anything to bring on prem labour unless your cervix was ripe anyway, we're still not. again, because its twins who could come early. I feel guilty, this did not happen last time. But kind of relieved too- I'm so big and tired, plus sore with the varicose veins there...

goingmad, I finished at 28 weeks, I don't know if i could have carried on. And this week-30 weeks- I just feel enormously pg and exhausted so looking after dd is an effort, let alone work. Plus your others were early so maybe these two will be early too?

I'm hoping for some help, especially with no nursery. But how are you meant to find it?!

goingmadtrying · 12/02/2012 10:26

thanks ladies :)

feeling a little better today as its my birthday and bein spoilt rotten Grin got a lovely lie in and breakfast in bed, then the boys came up and opened my cards for me lol my mum is also buying me the yummy mummy bag so very excited :)

its lovely to hear that you all finished around the same time obviously if i didn't have holiday id work a bit longer but with mat leave starting at week 32 im thinking babies could come anytime after that, consultant did say if didnt come on their own would be born at 36/37 weeks, that's decided then im finishing at 26 weeks which is officially 11 weeks time :)

bigboobs re sex i asked and was told it was fine, tbh we haven't dtd a great deal and do it much more gently not so deep Blush i have found recently im more aroused too!!! if its not to rough and you enjoy it i think you should do it, especially as i know i won't be doing it for a while after!! Wink

have a great day everyone x

claireinmodena · 12/02/2012 10:38

Bigboobs

We had lots of sex til 27 wks Blush (sorry pregnancy has this effect in me....) when I was put on bed rest because of a shortened cervix. I have wondered if it was because of the sex but too embarassed to ask dr. Have a feling though that it would have happened anyway. I have read though that the risk of premature shortening of the cevix is higher the more pregnancies you've had. This prob doesnt help much sorry...

goingmadtrying · 12/02/2012 10:41

hi Claire hope your doing ok and the family have all settled in how's dd now?? lol at pregnancy having that effect, wish it did that for me all the time Blush

BB3 · 12/02/2012 12:45

Happy birthday goingmad, hope the rest of the day is equally lovely x

Re dtd, we did it hardly at all I was so sick until month 4 ten by month 5/6 I was so big and dh is a bit funny about dtd late in pregnancy (not that I was complaining Blush).

BB3 · 12/02/2012 12:46

Claire, how are you and those lovely babies?

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 13:39

Lol bb3, right now i can't think of anything I'd like less really!!!

Happy birthday goingmad, hope the day carries on well.

Dd napping so I'm off for a rest.

claireinmodena · 12/02/2012 13:41

Knackered diesnt even begin to describe it!! We had a rough night as they were waking all the time visibly hungry and we couldnt to the hospital schedule of 40gr every 3 hours, they were really hungry!! Which means that this morning they slept fir ages and we couldnt wake them up.

On the upside this morning my milk came in and I sent dh out to get me a breast pump as was worried about mastitis, but in the end Riccardo latched on and relieved the rock hard lump I had before he got home Smile. Emma also eventually latched on and they've been at it for 20 mins each a couple of times, so that is looking good! I was so happy when he started feeding I could feel tears coming up!

They are absolutely gorgeous though and we're all so happy we keep staring at them.

And dd2 is bsck to her usual self too, so it must have been the hospital setting!

DreamingOfPeace · 12/02/2012 15:36

Oh wow Claire how amazing you got them both feeding. Well done you. And ouch, rough night indeed. nights with newborn twins sound incredibly hard. It sounds like the babies are doing well. Will you do a pic for us at some point when you're less knackered? So pleased dd2 happy again.

rednellie · 12/02/2012 15:57

Yey claire, that all sounds brilliant. Ah, I'm so glad they've both latched on and your milk's come in, at least you've got options now. They are clever little people aren't they? (You're not half bad yourself btw). I'm sure it was the hospital setting for your DD2, when my Mum was in hospital when I was little it really affected me - you never get used to seeing your parents vulnerable like that. Am glad things are settling, if in a slightly tired way!

RE: sex (what's dtd, need to learn that one), we've probably been at it about once a week, had a bit of a longer gap the last week or so as I've been knackered. There's no evidence that it has any affect on your cervix or will bring on labour so don't worry about it if you want it, but don't do it if you don't fancy it? I worried about it a bit at the start as my uterus would contract so much when I, um, got 'excited', but I asked a mw and she just laughed at me!

Happy Birthday goingmad and glad you've made a decision about mat leave, sounds like a great idea. 11 weeks willy fly bye.

goingmadtrying · 12/02/2012 18:22

lol rednellie dtd = doing the deed!!

my day has gotten slightly worse due to being at work :( although i am very pleased with my birthday so far :)

well done on the feeding and so pleased things have settled down Claire
