Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Bleaurgh-I have just been sick again. Breakfast did not stay put :( I wish i knew WTF this was, it doesn't feel like a tummy bug in any literal sense. I am not ill-I do have an appetite, I don't have a fever or shivers or sore virusy skin or headache or any other symptom. It feels exactly like morning sickness. Puke, fine ten mins later then hungry. Bowels are loose but not tummy bug loose just softer than normal.

jingle i can't drive his-it's a crappy mondeo and the seatbelts are too short for my hugely pregnant form. It's only been with us 2 months and i have never driven it before-i'd be a bit wary.

He thinks he'll need to jump start it as the passenger door was open slightly this morning-he was rooting in there late last night looking for his wallet and clearly didn't shut the door properly and were wondering if the interior light may have been on all night. Lucky this is lovely safe village location.

My friend is dropping dd home for me-in a car it's literally round the corner less than 2 minutes, able bodied walking it takes about 6 minutes, heavily pregnant with spd on crutches on the icy pavement it's about 20 minutes :)

parsley If I wanted Gavison I had to have aniseed, but I was happy with the generic ("peptac" is the make I have) and that's peppermint...and actually tastes a lot less salty than Gaviscon. Had to have aniseed in hospital, made me gag every bloody time.

fish Glad it's nor labour IYSWIM. Hopefully you'll be able to keep something down during labour and you can feel all full of energy etc. etc.

I've been putting my desire to puke down to indigestion and thus been whacking back 5ml of gaviscon after about an hour of eating anything significant. Seems to work well.

Ergh. Well I was doing ok, and the headache isn't as bad, BUT Mum decided to ring me about 0930 and tell me she's discovered gluten free cornflakes, and did I want her to stock up on them. Whe I said, no, DH doesn't do brekkie at home, doesn't like cornflakes and no they're not a new discovery...she got a bit miffed...and then just went... Confused

Got my tour of the hospital tonight (we thought we better had, before I get to term). Seen most of it already, but do really want to see the birthing pools...so we're off again...that parking permit's GOLD!!! Who thinks I should be sticking my bag in the car just in case???

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 20/12/2011 11:16

Fish my DH did the same thing with our car - didn't shut the door properly so the light drained the battery. A quick jump start fixed it. I hate jump starting cars, find it all a bit baffling and DH a bit shouty Wink. Hope it's the same easily fixed thing for you.

DH has just accepted another day on call at work. It's new year's day so he gets additional leave (which I've made him promise actually to take this time) but at this rate I'll be spending my first few weeks of mat leave alone! He can't do it from home and has to sleep at work so I'll be Angry face if it causes extra stress in early labour...

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 20/12/2011 11:18

Oeisha, take the bag, it's the only way to ensure that you won't go into labour while you're there Wink

My visit is Christmas eve at 8.30pm so I'll be packing everything in the hope of averting a 37.5 week baby!!

Nanny01 · 20/12/2011 11:42

Have packed my bag now to. I probably need to go through it again though as I am sure there is no toothbrush in there. Ghost my dh doesn't take leave either, he should have 2 weeks paternity and has leave that he needs to take from this yr but apparently he is to indispensable to take it, what does that make me a spare wheel. Just because labour normally goes well doesn't mean that I will be able to pick every thing up with 5 kids instantly. Just trying to get all the things ready for xmas is alot considering both sets of grand parents have left Christmas shopping to the very last minute even though they don't work.

Parsley thank goodness for free prescriptions. Hope everything helps, wish gaviscon worked for me rather than just making me sick.

Haven't been round labour and delivery as to be honest I know it won't have changed much. I did see the new natural birth suite rooms which are nice as they have just a chair and a kidney shaped sofa in with en suite bathroom. I would like to consider the water birth room but it has always been full when I have been in so don't feel optimistic about that.

Fish the sickness is normal I think as I suffer from this. I try eating later in the morning and then try not to eat late. I can't eat more than a toddler sized portion. Hence the 10lb weight lose. I don't drink orange juice either and any other fruit juice gets watered down to 50 /50 9 juice and water). I am just starting to feel more hungry now so will have lunch but have had no breakfast. Baby seems to be growing well so will try to get into better eating habits when baby is out and I don't have the acid reflux any more.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 20/12/2011 13:02

Afternoon ladies, sorry to hear people feeling a bit rough in different ways.
I have got conjunctivitis, thrush and constipation, so another one with a bumper pack from the chemists her :o

Having lots of HBs, felt a bit worried something was starting yesterday but seems to have eased off now. So am making mince pies and starting some wrapping this afternoon.

HeyNiki · 20/12/2011 13:12

Sorry to hear that you're all feeling a bit ropey.

SpagBol I was the same last monday, but they did a fFN test and that put my mind at rest slightly, and co-codamol for the pain.

Was just wondering, is anybody under and OB as well as a midwife? OB is seeing me at 36 weeks but midwife wants to wait until 38 weeks. Is this normal? i'm FTM and I have just had to go with the flow.

supadupaturkeystupor · 20/12/2011 13:34

apologies if you have done this already, but type 'let it snow' into goole search Xmas Smile

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 20/12/2011 13:46

heyniki I'm seeing both but am seeing the consultant today re GD at 34 wks, MW at 36 and consultant again at 38wks. I have a growth scan at 36 wks which the consultant will assess at the 38 wk appt. I suppose it depends what they are monitoring.

miamamaClaus09 · 20/12/2011 14:43

just been given my leaving presents, since it's my last day of work. I got: baby clothes age 3-6 months from Mothercare (tops & Jeans), bedding for the crib, and the Close Baby Carrier sling that I wanted - YEY!

Xmas Grin
HeyNiki · 20/12/2011 14:43

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion I was negative for GD, they're supposed to be monitoring my weight gain, although no one's weighed me since I was booked in at 12 weeks and i'd lost 5lb due to morning sickness lol. They just write in my HHN that weight gain is stable, obviously it's done by sight. Midwife did mention a growth scan referral on monday when I saw her but said she would let the consultant make the decision on 4/1/12 when i'll be 36 weeks. I just get so confused having not been through this before.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 20/12/2011 14:55

Hi heyNiki,

I too ambeing monitored for my weight-i am now 37 weeks (minus 1 day) and I see MW one week and Consultant the next-so many appointments.

I think this sickness i'm having is chronic acid reflux. I'm going to try get to the doc and see if I can get something other than gaviscon. My body is rejecting almost all food now apart from milk. Milk is staying down.

I tried some ham (2 slices) at lunch, got all hopeful because it stayed for an hour or so but I just bought it back up again.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 20/12/2011 14:55

Me too Grin they would have referred you for a growth scan already if they were concerned I'm sure.

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 20/12/2011 15:16

fish it could be acid. Hopefully the doctor can sort you something. Sad

rednosedreindeerhead · 20/12/2011 15:22

sorry you're poorly fish Sad

I just bit the bullet and transferred hospital, no more home birth for me so have got to stop thinking about it and being upset and just move on. Sad

HeyNiki · 20/12/2011 15:28

Her growth's been quite erratic, I think this is the issue, one minute they're concerned the next, they're satisfied and it's continued like that since 19 weeks.

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 20/12/2011 15:43

Thanks rednose i dont feel poorly as such not like when you have a proper tummy bug-just cant keep anything down and keep getting tummy pains.

Nanny01 · 20/12/2011 15:47

red- I've been through this to as I was booked for homebirth but but baby shifting around and this being my 5th baby they have gone back on it all. My community midwife has said she will try to come to the hospital to deliver me so may be it's something you can ask. My growth scan was good though so it's my weight issues.

rednosedreindeerhead · 20/12/2011 15:53

i've never seen the same midwife twice so have no connection with any of them. anyway i've transferred now, it's all done and dusted. got to try and move on and persuade myself it'll be ok and not too hospitally. Sad

Oeisha · 20/12/2011 15:58

red Hospitals aren't all that bad. At least someone cooks your meals for you...even if they aren't what you'd choose, or all that palletable...and there are random people there to talk to...and lots of babies to squidge!

DH has come home smelling like a slaughter house (that's where he's been in fairness) and is soo tired he's actually gone to bed, which is very unlike him. I just have to try not to vommit whilst the current load finishes and I can fling his clothes in the washer. Just very paranoid he's gonna be too tired to drive to hospital now, have offered to switch to next week and he said no it'd be too late then* Xmas Confused. I would offer to drive, but he won't like that.

Had a small panic earlier that I hadn't packed any hats for missyface, I also added some bonus scratch mitts. I had, and managed to get it all back in to the bag. Still a tight squeeze... Grin

  • Odd, as he's convinced she's going to arrive 18/19th. He was looking through old exercise books from school (don't know why he still has them) and found a plan/diary for what would happen in the event of the apocalypse...and the due date for the apocalypse is 18th Jan 2012 (which is when sonographer put her due date, just didn't see the point in changing my notes)... Xmas Shock
Nanny01 · 20/12/2011 16:38

red will you have a choice of the units. Where we are we have the choice between the formal rooms and the natural birth rooms plus the pool room. Hospitals are much better. remember you can take things in with you to make it more homely to. As long as all goes well and you and baby are wellyou will be able to go home with in a few hours. I am tempted that I might stay in a day or so to recuperate and be looked after as peaceful it is not at home. Just remember to take the car seat with you and something warm to dress baby in. I am sure it will be fine. I feel like you I would have preferred to stay at home but now can't.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 20/12/2011 16:50

Does anyone else have painful hands? I know that swelling in late pg can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, but I feel almost arthritic today. Guess it's another thing to live with until pamplemousse arrives. Thankfully tomorrow is my last day at work - typing is the worst!

DeeOfTheNorthPole · 20/12/2011 16:53

My hands have been giving me a bit of gyp. Not too bad but there's definitely something up. Thought it might just be some swelling as I have a ring that I can't get off (knew I should've done it earlier). Am hoping things go back to 'normal' once mini-Dee arrives! Smile

Crosshair · 20/12/2011 16:57

For the last few days my hands have been pretty bad(stiff/sore joints), feels like I'm gonna have claw hands by the end of the week!
