...and those of us left are doing a fair bit of bitching:o

I wonder if we could get a [pompoms] going on? Do we have the energy for a campaign?Wink

Right, come on! We're a third of the way through the month and Nickelbabe needs new recruits for her advent thread. Get squeezing:o

ARCH Go on YouTube and look for the HH highwayman/Dick Turpin song. Only do so when your husband is about. Then tell him mine's a large latte (not a drinker really) Wink

I should be asleep but the fairy has me:(

OiMissus · 01/01/2012 00:13

Happy New Year!!
Our friends arrived at 8, and right on cue, LO became grouchy and needed feeding. Been feeding him ever since. He falls asleep and loses the latch, then wakes up a few moments later and screams til he's back on. Sad
I feel sorry for myself, coz I'm tired and uncomfortable, but much more sorry for my LO who is inconsolable and goes bright red when he cries, he's so upset tonight.
He is in DH's arms now, hopefully asleep. ... Just as all the fireworks start. Ssssh!!
I've had 4 glasses of champagne since 5pm, could that contribute to him wanting to feed incessantly but still crying?

hopeful1 · 01/01/2012 00:23

Happy new year to you all Smile

OiMissus · 01/01/2012 00:30

Sorry. That post sounded particularly miserable.
I just worry about LO.
I am really very happy - of course! In 2011 i celebrated my first year of marriage with my wonderful DH, and we welcomed our beautiful amazing son into the world!
2012 will be incredible. Grin

BeeMyBaby · 01/01/2012 01:51

Happy new year... mopsy I was on day 6 of expressing and it was 2am and I just forgot the water in the microwave, so had a very melted avent pump, only the hard plastic bits melt (ie the main pump). DH helped lots with DD1 when she was a newborn so probs thinks I should have got the hang of it, which I have now the feeding is fixed, but I dread to think of the next 6 months if I hadn't.

I jumped on DH on day 10 after LO arrival thinking lochia had stopped (after no bleeding for two days) then it came back with avengeance. It was after that that everything went wrong with the prolapse etc. Now I feel unbelievably unattractive and wish I had waited.

msbuggywinkle · 01/01/2012 03:11

oi it is possible that the alcohol inhibited your let down, alcohol does do that but there is no definite amount that would cause it to happen so it isn't easy to say. Could just as easily have been a headache or any number of other problems A couldn't tell you about.

I'm awake with a bloody horrible headache, everyone else is asleep, I'm up feeling awful!

mopsytop · 01/01/2012 03:25

bee glad you've got the feeding fixed. I'm still battling with expressing. Going to do skin to skin all day tomorrow. Feeding every 2 and a bit hrs tonight instead of every 3, exhausted. That extra 45 minutes or hour of sleep makes a huge difference :( I am sure the pump melting will happen to me too If this continues. Feeding, then expressing is tIring enough when I'm getting some sleep. Hope is just a little growth spurt and will settle back down soon!

mopsytop · 01/01/2012 03:40

msbuggy hope your head feels better soon. It's awful having a bad head :(

festivefiggy · 01/01/2012 04:50

Happy new year I made it to the gong then must have fallen asleep before theyd ended.

I don't think my DH is ever getting rudies again bless him the idea terrified me with stitches and graze. Am already thinking about contraception for when we do recommence activity I font really want to go back on pill as never trusted it and used condoms most of time with it, got used to not using them b4 got pregnant so don't want to go back to them either. Will need to have a serious think.

On a lighter note I have to say my hair is currently looking amazing it's growing like weeds, it's full of body and tousled looking have spent years with flat hair getting out the hair tongs and now when it's perfect I can't be arsed leaving the house.....boo. Strangely I also swear it's changed colour usually it's a medium brown but it's shades darker I noticed it in hospital and thought it was the lighting but maybe it's another (weird) childbirthy thing!??

aethelfleda · 01/01/2012 07:43

Arg, up and down all night with half-arsed contractions again, but still not ramped up. Am seriously bored of this! Nowt to be done, am going to drink coffee and pace up and down til they either stop or get going.this is making me feel very antisocial and out of sorts, I know the drill and that all I can do is wait til the time is right from Widget's point of view, but her really is winning the Undecided Male award at the moment! Just want to find a cave to hide in until it's all done and dusted.

mopsytop · 01/01/2012 07:46

Oh dear aethel so sorry, it's so annoying. Hope sth happens soon!

aethelfleda · 01/01/2012 07:50

Figgy: hair often looks springier and fuller when you've just been pregnant as the hormones delay hair loss from the follicles. Sadly this is probably going to be temporary as when the hormones reset all the extra hairs fall out. So don't panic if it goes back to normal suddenly, your hair isnt all falling out, it's just the reset process. Enjoy it while it lasts!

aethelfleda · 01/01/2012 07:53

It really helps being able to vent here at least! And I lnow some of you had similar before your LO's: Widget has to come out EVENTUALLY, even if that's 10 days time with an induction (which i'd lile
To avoid but hey ho.) my impatience wasn't helped by a friend of a friend who was due on 31st delivering her LO bang on time yest morning. I'm v happy for her but jealous!!

hopeful1 · 01/01/2012 09:44

Aethel- I really sympathise I am fed up like u! It feels like we will never get there but each day is a step closer!!

I had a sweep last night got some back contractions and everything stopped this morning! Think our LO are teasing us!

When is your next hospital appt? I am going in Wednesday and not leaving without a date for cs as can't have an induction!!

Just wanted to let you know u are not alone in your frustrations and hope these contractions you are having are more than practice ones!

LittleMissFlustered · 01/01/2012 10:27

Impatient and grumpy here too. I'm not being offered anything until 40+11 which will be a cursory sweep and induction the day after. Thoroughly fed up and in pain. If I were a religious sort I would be praying for a natural get-go but they seem to happen at +12 for me usually:(

Right. Cup of tea, toast and then I'm hitting the kids' rooms with bin liners. New years day chez flustered is all about out with the trash.

jinglebum · 01/01/2012 10:32

sorry to hear some of you are still waiting for your LOs to arrive - really hope it happens soon for you.

I feel like I have been up for hours with DS and freya but actually only about 3 hours - Dh still in bed as he is tired! To be fair he had freya till 3am as I was ill last night (had to resort to 2 bottles last night as I needed to sleep) but that still means he has had more sleep than me! I think the days are going to seem very long next week when he is back at work.

Our NYE was a bit of a comedy of errors in the end. I have a stinking cold and our friends have cats so I was wheezing like an old lady in the corner, whilst spending most of the evening feeding freya; DS choked on his pasta at tea and threw up over the table and himself, we had early fireworks that their boy was scared of, their little girl was not too well and grumpy, ds and their ds had fun but wound each other up to a frenzy, so needless to say we were home by 830 and I was in bed feeling grim by 9pm.

Ironically it is DH in bed today whilst I look after the DCs despite still not feeling great, but Dh is so rubbish on lack of sleep it is easier to do it yourself.

I am impressed with anyone vaguely thinking of sex , let alone doing it! I think last time it was 4/5 weeks after ds but think it will be a lot longer this time. It is certainly the last thing on my mind!

aethelfleda · 01/01/2012 10:38

Yep, housework is the way forward. Best case scenario is it brings out the beebs, worst case scenario is we get less manky houses. I know from
experience that housework will go up the swannee when Widget arrives, so may as well start from as ordered a place as possible.

My MW appt is at term+8 (Weds) when will be given (probably) a sweep and an induction date of 12-14 days post dates (may ask for day 12 purely as it's a Sunday and so won't have to sort out school run for the DDs as they can go to Grandads) though I know staffing levels are likely to be better on a weekday and it would be better to start of naturally as I don't want lots of interventions if i can get away without a drip etc...hmmm. Not worth worrying about yet though. We'll get there, girls!

LittleMissFlustered · 01/01/2012 11:27

I've just made an epic mountain of toast and a bucket of tea. I have zero energy. Going to set some towels to boiling and then will see if I can haul my backside upstairs without wincing. Small goals and all that :o

hopeful1 · 01/01/2012 11:33

LMF - I am with you on the small goalsSmile Hope you get there soon!

Aethel - best of luck for Wednesday

OiMissus · 01/01/2012 12:22

Off to see Granddad today! Grin He's not met Alistair yet. I usually visit him every week, so I've missed him, and he's missed the baby. We had just finished decorating his new sheltered accom flat when he had a fall and went to hospital, I gave birth as he was moved to a kind of half way hospice for old folk, then the hospice caught a bad virus and everyone was in isolation, they eventually allowed visitors, but my family didn't want me and Alistair to visit until it was clear. Very wise. But it's been weeks! And he missed Christmas with the family too, although I think the illness made the dementia worse so he probably didn't miss much. Sad
(he's 91, bless him!) Smile

msbuggywinkle · 01/01/2012 14:02

oi glad you're getting to see him finally!

I'm in trouble with PIL. We rang them to say we couldn't come round today and got hissy fitted at! The fact that I didn't sleep at all well last night apparently doesn't matter. I just really don't have the patience for sitting being ignored all afternoon while MIL fills both older children with crisps and sweets - she does that horrible passive-aggressive thing where she gives them giant bags of sweets and then says "now go and ask Mum if you can have them" just to make sure I have no hope of saying no. I think we might scale back how often we visit thais year.

Bah. Anyway, DP has taken 1&2 out for a walk and puddle jump in the woods down the road.

LittleMissFlustered · 01/01/2012 14:12

Can't be doing with arsey family, which is why my kids have one set of grandparents only. Muppetry has no place in a happy family ini unless it's delivered by Jim and co. :o

LittleMissFlustered · 01/01/2012 14:13

In other news, I found a Me First CD, this makes me happy and is helping the gutting of my son's room a little more easy:o

ChristmasPullyWoolOver · 01/01/2012 18:30

Happy New Year one and all and wishing you all the very bestest for 2012. Thanks for all your help, advice, support and for keeping me sane on this wild and wonderful adventure called motherhood. I salute you ladies, and your complete and utter marvellousness.

LittleMissFlustered · 01/01/2012 19:26

I have exhausted myself in the kids' rooms this afternoon. I couldn't face cooking so we just had something delivered.

Hoping the day has gone well for you all.

Going to go have a bash in my own room tomorrow, pondering asking my parents if they'll do a few tip runs with me later in the week:)
