Well, I was about to post to the normal one and I saw we were about to change to a new thread, so thought I'd start it as noone else had!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AggiePanther · 19/01/2006 10:00

Hurray HC ...that's reassuring
Good luck with the tests

Straightforward · 19/01/2006 10:12

Monkeychops - try not to worry. I had a v similar panic earlier this week and sought help on MN which made me feel loads better and really reassured. The thread is here , but if you're still worried, go and talk to your doctor. Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Thanks everyone for the welcome - it makes it seem more real. Especially seeing my name on the list

I haven't told anyone yet, I want to tell ds and dd first, but have yet to gather up the courage! I also like nobody else knowing - mine and dh's little secret!

I have just realised I am feeling a lot less sick, hooray, but I am exhausted. It doesn't help that dh is working away at the moment. I have been trying to nap with dd in front of cbeebies in the afternoon

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2006 11:49

Girls-have just heard my beanies heartbeat

I told the midwife my fears and she said it is normal to feel all these aches etc with subsequent pregnancies. She then asked if I would like her to try and have a listen but at 16+5 it is not guaranteed that anything can be heard Luckily we heard straight away.

Wallace-I regularly nap in an afternoon while DD is watching Beebies-I should be taking her for a walk (I'm such a bad mother) She is out every day though so I don't feel so guilty really.

Right, a quick sandwich then off to pick DD up from nursery. I'm exhausted as the nursery is next to the Drs but took DD then came home, went to the Drs then came home and now got to go back again in an hour. It is a 20 min journey each way. Going to watch Desperate Housewives while I eat.

Wallace · 19/01/2006 12:12

Glad you heard the heartbeat

Dd is at nursery 4 mornings a week, so I guess I shouldn't feel guilty. And we walk there and back so she could probably do with some downtime in the afernoon

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2006 13:21

My thoughts exactly!

Thanks everyone who responded to my laong paranoid rant!

All weel with baby - i heard heartbeat and my tummy apparently feels fine. so I was just panicking.
Apparently pregnancy is a 'condition of feeling faint' and to be careful when out shopping!
Pegnancy always makes me become paranoid it would seem..

HC - fabulous to hear heartbeat - i heard it too even though they thought it may be too early at 14+4. going for a lie down while ds is at nursery. MC x

AggiePanther · 19/01/2006 14:17

That's great.. both of you (HC & MC)

Yes have certainly upped my water intake, kayzed.

On an entirely different subject, and i have posted his generally, but are any 2nd+ time mums planning on doing a refresher antenatal course?

This is my 2nd pregnancy and i tred to book NCT with 1st but course was too full, so dh and i did a couples course of 3 evenings that a friend recommended. The only thing was that the day before session 2 Ds was born. We obviously missed that one but took him with us to the 3rd (a surprise for the other couples!)
But i never got to know any of them and no one stayed in touch (which was an important factor, meeting other mums-to-be)

Is anyone on their 3rd pregnancy and did a refresher last time?
Just wndered what peoples thoughts were and wondered if they were worth it/in demand atall.

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2006 17:42

We attended the antenal class spread over 4 Thursday nights-didn't meet any other mums as they kept themselves to themselves and by the last class there were only 2 couples (was 4) Bumped into one of them in Mothercare with her triplets and she didn't even want to talk so don't think we will bother this time. Also, was a struggle to get there on time because of DH's work hours so no way would have time to take DD anywhere first. Infact, the only mums I see are my 2 friends.

Excellent news monkeychops. ((xx))

Bye for now.

dangirl · 19/01/2006 20:00

I have signed uo for a refresher lesson at the hospital. It will only be for 2nd (or more0 time mothers +/- partners.
I am also hoping to maybe get to know one or two other mums to be by attending.

Ive tried to book a nuchal scan at Bupa today but they are completly full until 2 weeks time at which point it will be too late. Speant most of the day in work trying to find somewhere else that does them. Looks as if im out of luck.
I spotted the 3d scans on the internet while I was searching and they werent as expensive as I thought so I may go for one of them nearer the time. Because is going to be my last planned pregnancy I want to injoy it as much as I can and do what I want to do instead of regretting it later.

monkeychops · 19/01/2006 22:43

When is the cut off point for the nuchal scan?
Maybe you could get a canellation, kbaby?

the few other mums i know (met post natal) all have a good network of friends they see weekly who they met in ante natal clases.. I only met 4 mums and we would meet irregularly - every 6 weeks or so, now one has moved out of town and 2 of them i hardly see, in fact i felt more and more as if it was me who was making most of the effort really...

May try nct or may look into a private local refresher. What are every one's thoughts on nct?

usandbump · 20/01/2006 01:13

Hello All
I too would like to join the July Club! Due date at the mo is the 3rd but have scan on 9th Feb- can't wait! I'm just grateful to be feeling semi-normal after weeks of sickness and dizziness! I am 16+4 and think I have been feeling some 'flutterings' but this is baby number 1 and I am so desperate to feel some 'flutterings' that it could just be wind :O Counting down to scan date so that I can be reassured that everything looks ok- fingers crossed.
Nice to 'meet' you all

spub · 20/01/2006 08:10

Wow,
You busy lot! Just a quickie. DD's 3rd birthday tomorrow so in full party planner mode (joint party with the 2 other girls born on the same day in hospital - we mums really clicked and meet evey week)Mother in law arrived last night and my car has just conked out!
Anyway...
Welcome to Wallace and to usandbump. Look forward to getting to know you both.
Monkey - glad all is well and hope you feel tip top by now. Re antenatal refreshers - not for us - childcare too tricky at night. I do plan to go to the breastfeeding class though as I wasn't too succesful last time(6 weeks of hell..)
HC - so pleased that you got to hear the heart beat!
Bumpy - hope I haven't alarmed you. The reason I'm having the tests on my ahem, bum-hole is that I had a 3rd degree tear with dd. I actualy tore into my sphincter muscle and so there was always the chance of complications from that. What they don't want is for the tear to go back the same way (ie right into the muscle) again. If you're at all concerned then do ask your midwife though. Sounds like you had a pretty gruesome bit of surgery yourself!
Hope to get back on later but it depends on how things progress at party central!
Have a great day.

HumphreysCorner · 20/01/2006 08:41

Morning ladies

Hope you are all well.

A big warm welcome to usandbump-bet you can't wait for your scan, not good only having one. You must be in an area that doesn't do 12 week ones. I had my 12 week scan and am now desperate for the 20 week scan. It is sooooo good when the sickness eases. I'm still dreadfully dizzy all the time but my blood pressure measured high yesterday ?!? ((xx))

Taking DD to mum and dad's in a mo so going to iron and chill out. Will catch you all later.

spub-good luck with the B'Day arrangements. ((xx))

Welcome usandbump and Wallace ...there's quite a crowd here now isn't there?

Just wondering ...does anybody else get bad pain down their inner thigh? I get in on my right side...worse when walking. I had it with DD 11 years ago and it got so bad that by the end of the pregancy I could hardly walk ...disappeared as soon as I'd given birth though. Well it's started again about 2 weeks ago and I really don't want it to get that bad again

Wallace · 20/01/2006 12:18

Welcome usandbump

usandbump · 20/01/2006 12:20

Thanks for the welcome everyone, still in my pyjamas after yet another sleepless night!
I get lots of crampy pains in my upper legs does this sound like the same pain?
Just cooking myself another bowl of pasta-can't get enough of it!

AggiePanther · 20/01/2006 12:22

No usandbump its not crampy ...feels like I've been kicked

Wallace · 20/01/2006 12:26

Sorry about the pain in your leg...I don't know what it could be

AggiePanther · 20/01/2006 12:32

Thanks Wallace. They told me last time it was sciatica but I know it wasn't because I've had sciatica and its completely different to this.
