Hi Aggie,poor you

My book says" an upset stomach or gastroenteritis is best treated with lots of rest and plenty of clear fluids and is unlikely to cause problems to the pregnancy."

Hope you feel better very soon.

AggiePanther · 24/01/2006 17:46

Thanks you two
I'm just having some soup now as I managed to keep fluids down all day ...couldn't even keep sips of water down last night so i must be on the mend. Feel absolutely drained though...luckily dp and dd are being lovely and helpful so i can just laze about.

Wallace · 24/01/2006 19:31

You have my sympathy - dd had this Christmas eve and I had it boxing day..it was vile. I spent all night and the next morning ill and couldn't eat for a day after that. It was the worst tummy bug I have had since I was a kid. I wonder if it was worse because I am pregnant - I don't usually get tummy bugs badly, I usually just have a sore tummy, and I'm never sick.

OldieMum · 24/01/2006 19:35

I had this bug in December. I rang the midwife and she reassured me that the baby is well protected from things like this and that all would be fine.

jersey · 25/01/2006 08:24

Morning, hope you feel better today Aggiepanther. Got my 15 week check this afternoon with midwife, hoping to hear the heartbeat today. As usual forgot to do my sample this morning !

Got 3 estate agents coming round this afternoon to value the house so been running round like a headless chicken clearing up. Still got washing drying in conservatory as tumble dryer packed up a while back, but no where to put it without them seeing it, so it will just have to stay there!!

Hope everyone else is ok, and those bumps are growing well.

spub · 25/01/2006 08:35

Hi all, too!
Aggie - I also had the S&D bug on boxing day through to Dec 29th. No harm to bubba. Did worry that I'd poisoned the 15 family members round on Xmas day, though! Happily, it was just me that was ill.
DD's birthday party on Sat was a success! Bouncy castle a hoot, face painting very popular and no vomit, A&E or poo incidents. (It was a joint party with 2 other girls born on the same day in the same hospital - hence bouncy castle et al).
Welcome to the newbies and good luck to Jersey re the Estate Agents!

jersey · 25/01/2006 08:37

Thanks Spud

Forgot earlier did the needle on a thread test last night and it went in a circle when DH did it and a line when I did it?????????

HumphreysCorner · 25/01/2006 08:42

Morning girls

Crikey, have been without my computer since Sunday so absolutely desperate to get back on here!

How are you all?

Apart from Aggie who I see has been poorly dick. not nice at all-hope you feel better soon. ((xx))

Happy belated Birthday to puddytat. ((xx))

bumpybel-if you lay flat down and hold the ring/needle about 3 inches above your bump and wait. After perhaps 30 seconds to 1 minute it will move but you must keep your hand still-maybe get someone else to do it. A dead straight line indicates a boy but the line will swing head to toe direction and not left to right. A girl swings in a circle so has to swing left to right to achieve the circle so sounds like a girl. It clearly does a proper big circle shape though as it did when I was having DD and when I hold it over DD now it spins immediately in a circle as she is a non PG female. On DH it is an immediate straight line. Try it on someone else first so you get an idea of the swinging motion. One of the girls at work is having a girl but she said nothing really happened when she did it-you have to be patient and keep very still. Good Luck!

One more week until blood test results-getting scared and keep having strange dreams about the pregnancy. So hoping for good news being as I am (cough) 36. Still haven't plucked up courage to tell them at work-I need to order a maternity uniform but want to wait until after the scan on the 16th February really. Trouble is the girl at work ordered hers in December and it still hasn't arrived-I'm bursting out at the seams now-I really do look like I've eaten too many pies!

Anyone got a fuddled brain yet? Struggled at work to do anything right. Customers must think I'm stupid.

Enough waffle-must go so will wish you all a good day.

Byee

HumphreysCorner · 25/01/2006 08:44

Am I going to have to come round and do it for you?

Are you disrespecting my theory?lol!

jersey · 25/01/2006 08:50

Hi HC,

When we did the thread test it was a very small circle! DH said I was subconciously making the needle move so he did it!! . Oh well we will see in march at the scan.

I really can't be bothered at work, luckly not very busy at moment. Too many other things to think about .

How long do the blood tests take as I had mine done when I had my scan at 11 weeks and I was wondering if they will be back today when I see the midwife? I'm 34 HC will be 35 when this one arrives.

HumphreysCorner · 25/01/2006 08:51

P.S. Find using a ring easier as it swings better.

xxx

I'm deffo going now!

HumphreysCorner · 25/01/2006 09:05

I'm back again!

jersey-they only take 2 weeks. I had another lot of blood tests at 11 weeks but they were for HIV etc. My tests last week are for Downs etc and they said they can only be done after 16 weeks. Have you deffo had these?

xxx

jersey · 25/01/2006 09:10

The tests I had are the standard ones they do at the booking in, but the midwife couldn't find a vein.

I think I have another one done today which is the downs one, although its only being done as a warning as we said we wouldn't abort even if this baby had downs.

AggiePanther · 25/01/2006 10:11

Morning all, and thanks for your well wishes and advice ...am much much better this morning..still worried about baby though ...I know its daft and logically I know everything will be fine but still have 'the fear' in the back of my mind..just have to try and ignore it.

Good luck to everyone having tests and stuff ..have my afp blood tests next week..am 37 so a bit nervous, but like you jersey would still want the baby even if it was downs ...don't think I could go through an amnio..be no point anyway...what do other people think?
Good luck with the estate agents jersey ..we're planning to move too, but need to find out how much we can borrow first..we run our own business so I've been frantically trying to get accounts up to date (before being ill) to take to the bank to beg them for a mortgage.

dangirl · 25/01/2006 12:12

Hi ladies

Going for another visit to the premature clinic today which includes a scan of the cervix. Should also get to see the baby briefly which is lovely.

DD has been at home with me for a few days due to cough which keeps her awake most of the night and then leaves her very tired during the day. Hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow.

Wallace · 25/01/2006 12:50

Good luck today everybody.

I've also got the midwife this afternoon.

isn't that weird how you can feel ok all day then it gets to about nowish/5pm and you feel rough as hell. I can't tell if I need to eat more (is that possible?) not eat, have a lie down, stop dwelling on it, drink some water lalalalalalala...

By about 9pm at the moment I can barely get a sentence out, grab a glass of water, and crawl to bed. I think my DH has forgotten what it's like to have a conversation with someone else in the evening. Funny cos in the morning I am right as rain.....

Wallace · 25/01/2006 16:15

That sounds just like me in the afternoons and evenings IAMBlossom!

Midwife appointment went well. I heard the heartbeat!!!!!!! Amazing feeling She thinks I may be more like 15 weeks by feeling my tummy. I have got a scan next friday so I'm excited

jersey- hope your check went well and you heard the heartbeat. Also hoping agents told you your house is worth a fortune and is so lovely it will be snapped up immediately

Spub- I worry everytime people come round that I will poison them, don't know where the fear came from. Prob will one day coz always drank lots when cooking!!!

Hi HC- I hate it when I have no computer, feel lost without it! Shows what a sad and exciting life I lead . I've beeen having weird and some horrible dreams too I'm putting them down to hormones. As for being stupid well if I'm not totally confused I have no memory, if I'm not crying over something I've seen on the tv i'm gigling like a schoolgirl DP looks on with a kinda bemused/concerned face!

Dangirl- Hope your scan went well and yiour DD picks up soon. There are lots of bugs going around at the moment, I'm doing my best to try and dodge them (not easy when you work in a pre-school)

IamBlossom- Really feel for you, my sickness stopped at about 14 weeks but creeps back if I don't eat and drink enough. I eat 3 meals a day and constantly snack in between even if I don't feel like it. Was worrying about food intake but its not affecting my weight and I do feel MUCH better for it. Thinking of you and hoping yours eases up soon.

Wallace- How exciting!! And a scan next week, bet you can't wait . I've got to wait 2 more weeks for mine, it's going so slowly!!

Well ladies, I love hearing all your news, I don't know anyone else who is pg and its nice to share it all. I'm feeling pretty good but suffering from quite a bit of cramp from my right buttock to my calf! It's always there either an actual cramp or a tightness. Also painful under right rib unless I sit completely upright (I like to slouch! ) Is this a symptom or totally unconnected? Please tell me if I'm being a complete hypocondriac (sp?)
Think I will feel better once i've had my 20 wk scan in 2 wks time. Haven't seen midwife since 11 wks and it seems so long ago, nearly walked into drs yesterday without appt. to demand he listened to heartbeat!!

usandbump · 25/01/2006 17:35

sorry about the essay I hadlots to say

please don't give grammar and spelling marks out of 20

dangirl · 25/01/2006 17:51

Back from the clinic.

kayzed - yes I am having the scans due to my history. DD arrived at 31 +5.

It went sort of well.
Last time my cervix was really long (something to be proud of ) at 4 cm. Today it has shortened to 3 cm which is bang on average.
But the change in length could be a cause for concern so I have to go back next week for yet another scan. Of course this is a bit worrying but hopefully we are just being over cautious.
Typical, I had day booked at lovely spa with MIL and SIL. Dh was taking day of work to look after DD so that I could go. There is only that one day that they do this clinic... oh well - get my priorities straight right!

Hope everyone is well.

By the way.
Also got to see baby which was lovely. A very lively little thing too
