Hello, want to join your thread. Bambino due 3rd June. Have dd 2 1/2. Me and dh are 35. Have 10 weeks left to go, feels like final countdown, although that will really kick in when finish work, (end of April).
Don't know what we're having but pregnancy going well apart from constant heartburn, piles, varicose veins and SPD (bad pelvic and back pain) and anaemia which I've just got iron tablets for that have made me constipated!

Will try to read up on thread and familiarise myself with you all.

mrsbabookaloo · 27/03/2006 15:59

Welcome TheHun.., and all other new ones since I've last posted. Never too late to join us.
Abbey and Kathryn, hope you are both OK.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant today, which feels like a big milestone! I'd be counting the days if it weren't for the fact that we need to move house before the big event, and we don't know when we'll be able to complete....

7 more weeks at work and counting...

diddle · 27/03/2006 16:32

welcome Thehun - and congrats on your pregnancy.

Bubbly- got a feeling ours is a girl too, although like you nothing is confirmed, its a surprise.

babywhiting - sounds like you're very busy at the moment, and i thought i had loads to do.
Don't live near Norwich but PIL live in Ipswich and i knew you must be somewhere in East Anglie to pop to Jimmy's Farm.

Kathryn - Hows the ankle doing???

Mrsbabookaloo - I can't wait to stop work now, i'm counting too, only 8 1/2 wks left. Tiredness has hit me again, spend all day rushing around so i'm ready for a nap now.

mrsbabookaloo · 27/03/2006 20:29

Also meant to say I haven't heard anything about my antenatal classes yet: how about anyone else?

trinity1 · 27/03/2006 22:11

Hi everyone. Welcome to The Hun and all the other new additions. Kathryn: Hope your ankle is feeling better. Had a bit of a scare on Saturday. Stabbing pain on my right side which hospital thought could be a small tear of the placenta. Following a scan and night's monitoring in hospital was thankfully given the all clear and sent home for a few days of rest and hopefully pampering from DP who gets home tomorrow. :)

mrsbabookaloo, congratulations on hitting the 30 week mark - we're all approaching the home straight finally! Have the first of 2 antenatal classes on Thursday. Have no idea what to expect! xxx

diddle · 28/03/2006 08:15

mrsbabookaloo - got my antenatal on the 8th april, but i had to call about it nobody told me. might be worth you chasing them.

trinity - hope you're resting, sorry to hear about your scare, its the last thing you need at this stage.

babywhiting · 28/03/2006 09:40

Morning ladies, today is a bad day for me im feeling very down, very sore and very tired ,standing on the playground this morning whilst taking my daughter to school this morning i just wanted to cry. i feel so alone !!! my partner is in London all week and i'm scared he will meet someone else or something!!! My kids are driving me mad not sleeping at night age 2 and 5 both end up in my bed cos i have no energy to put them back, along with me up most of the night with stomach pains and vomiting!!!! someone give me some words of encouragement please!!!!!!!Sad

vbab78 · 28/03/2006 12:35

babywhiting - sorry to hear that you are feeling down. I know the feeling, I keep going through phases of emotion. I even had thoughts that my husband didn't feel the same about me. I then realised it was nonsense and my hormones talking. Grin

Don't worry your husband will be home soon and he will be able to carry the kids back to bed. Wink

Look forward to seeing your baby and buying things!! Thinking of things to buy normally helps me.

I'm due on 6/6/6 (!), 30 weeks tomorrow, first child, don't know the sex. U?

Starting having back aches/pain but luckily thats all so far. Also baby keeping me awake with full body movements and trying to push it's limbs out of my sides!

vbab78 · 28/03/2006 14:18

HELP!! Falling asleep at my desk at work. Just been out in cold and horrible wind to try to wake up with little success.

BABY2 · 28/03/2006 20:14

hello everyone, havent posted for a while as i have been at my mums for a while. Anti d jab was not what i thought at all, they just put a needel in my arm and took bloods and then the anti-d went in the same needel so was vey happy. I have been at the midwife a couple of times as i have been having very bad pains in my back and pelvis. She said it sounds like symphysis pubis and she is refering me for physio, and said i may have to have a support belt.
hope eveyone else is well, and hello to anyone new i have missed joining us

babywhiting · 28/03/2006 21:10

Hi vbab78 thanks for your kind words! didn't realise how tough it would be to have him working away its really horrible!!! yes i feel frumpy and ugly but yes i know he loves me to bits!!!

anyway im due 21/6 and i'm having a boy, already got a boy and a girl from ex husband!!

yes i'm really excited and have been buying things for ages must have spent a fortune!!!

yeah i know exactly what you mean with baby's limbs sticking out but as baby gets bigger it wont be so often (well from what i can remember) well take care to all of you xxxxxx

diddle · 29/03/2006 08:08

Babywhiting - I have had those feelings too, i was totally paranoid that DH would run off and leave me because i am so fat and miserable and moody. He travels a lot too, although rarely overnight.
Sounds like you're having a rough time of it, you need some time to wind down a bit and relax.

Vbab - Pretty sure my baby is trying to push its way out of me too, and it keeps wriggling around. If i lie on my side in bed it prods me in my ribs, and literally makes me jump, DH thinks i'm crazy, but it shocks me every time. Must be more sensitive there than my tummy.

Baby 2 - i've been getting back pains too, when i lie down in bed i can't turn over i'm in such excruciating pain, DH has to pull me over by my arm Grin
My naff midwife didn't comment on it at all when i told her though, it is occassionally bad in the day, but more so at night or if i've over done it.

I can't believe how far i've come, i'll be 30 wks tomorrow, where on earth has that gone.
Got the John Lewis nursery and baby catalogue with my food shopping delivery yesterday. I want one of everything, they have some lovely things. really need to buy some sheets, haven't got any yet. Thats my job for Saturday.

LilacBump · 29/03/2006 11:21

hi girls! glad to hear i'm not the only one feeling overtired, huge and unattractive to DP. i crave so much affection from him at the moment and he's not picking up on it. DD is being a complete pain in the bottom. at least i can look forward to her going to infant school in 3 weeks. she needs a lot of stimulation atm and i can't keep up. her toys and tv are boring, so we do lots of activities, but it wears me out so much.

baby has this habit of doing complete body shifting when i walk. it's really uncomfortable. he really responds to sounds now, so when DP or DD talk to him he starts kicking.

diddle, your midwife sounds a bit naff. you've told us quite a few things that sound weird.

i'm past the 30 weeks mark now. we have now got to the stage where we have everything we NEED for the baby. but there's still bits i want. my labour/hospital bag is packed. the nursery still needs a bit of work (new carpet and paint woodwork), but DP promises to get it done soon.

abbey1515 · 29/03/2006 12:13

Hi everyone
I too am feeling fat and revolting, not to mention white as a sheet! Can't believe have finished work! But have now lost all impetus to get dressed, wash hair and put make-up on. Sure Angelina is feeling just the same...!
4D scan was just amazing. Took photo stills to NCT ante-natal class on Sunday, and they all said she looks just like me...on the DVD she opens her mouth, sucks her fingers, yawns, it's unbelievable! (That's not why she looks like me Grin )

vbab78 · 29/03/2006 13:28

Hi. I'm not feeling fat more uncomfortable than anything. Aches and pains are now starting.

Would love to finish work now rather than 7 weeks time. Sad The main reason being how tired I am now getting. Some days by 2-3pm I'm half asleep at my desk. Saying that if I was at home after a few days of day time telly I might get bored! Wouldn't mind giving it a try though. Wink

At present I am getting fed up of my MIL saying that we are "boring" for not finding out the sex and telling her names we are thinking about. It apparently makes things "awkward" for her when talking to other people. Angry I don't think she likes not having control because she is very shall we say opinionated/controlling with my DH sister about her 2 children. Self, self, self!

I feel better for that, thanks for letting me have my rant. Smile

abbey - Love the sound of your scan. Glad you enjoyed it. I've now got to a point where I would love to know what I'm having. Only 10 weeks, depending on baby, weeks to wait.

BABY2 · 29/03/2006 20:32

diddel- have you tryed speeking to your doctor about the pain? they might be a bit more helpfull as your midwife sounds very unhelpfull.

abbey- your scan sounds great, i wish i had had one.

vbab- I think its good you havent found out sex of baby or telling baby names. At least you have stood up to MIL and havent let her presure you
into telling your thoughts on names.

I still have loads of things to buy, i am waiting to hear if we are intiteled to the sure start mat grant, (i hope we are as we will realy need it)
I have decided to bottle feed right from the start after all the problems i had BF with DS. I dont know what formula to use or bottels this time as DS had realy bad colic and was sick after every feed and constantley in between feeds to. I used infacol before every feed, He always put weight on though so health visitors were never bothered. I used sma gold then white with avent bottles, Dose anyone have any idea'sfor this time round?

LilacBump · 29/03/2006 21:46

Baby2, i used SMA gold with avent bottles for DD and luckily she never had colic or was sick. i am going to bottle feed from the start too and will stick with those products again as they seemed good. my SIL breastfeeds her DD (5 months) and she is a very sicky baby. she had to use formula or expressed breastmilk in bottles on a few occasions as she was having treatment in hospital and she recommended the MAM bottles for reducing the amount of air she got in.

also, i read that the sure start maternity grant is given if you get more than something like £545 on child tax credit. which we do at the moment. i am going to try to apply for it before i renew the tax credit to make sure i get it! i missed out on it with DD (only £200 back then) because they got the application a day late, so not taking any chances this time!

Alychef · 30/03/2006 08:21

Hi all,

Haven't at been here for a little while. Bizy bizy at work trying to get everything upto date before I finish in 8 weeks!
Had a weird experience yesterday, we were sitting in the cinema and I went a bit funny...I was sitting down and kinda fainted. I went all clammy and pale and sweaty etc...everything went fuzzy and I guess I passed out a bit. I put my head down, and gradually came back to life!
I wondered if it was because I'd been leaning on that vessel in my back (the reason why we're not supposed to sleep on our backs?)..midwife told me a while that can cause faintness. Or it's because I have no room left in my tummy for food and I'm not eating enough! Tricky, any one else got that problem, not being able to eat much?

Lata :) x

ladyschaefer · 30/03/2006 13:11

I used to have that problem a lot when i was pregnant with DD, could be lack of food, my fainting episodes were down to low blood pressure. I personally have plenty of room for food and i shows as im twice the size this time round as i was with my dd. This baby is gonna be a biggun i think.

bumpinsheffield · 30/03/2006 16:02

alychef, I'd have your midwife check your blood pressure just in case but it may be down to blood sugar as you said, keep a sugary snack in your handbag, this could help if it happens again. Hope you sort it out.

Baby 2 - I use "B Free" (used to be Dr. Brown)bottles with my dd now as she still has one when she goes to bed. They have an anti colic device inside which stops air building up and the nipple deflating. They're also made out of a different plastic than other baby bottles which are said to contain a chemical which could cause problems. I would highly recommend them, they've also just added another little gadget inside which mixes formula milk with just a couple of small shakes. They are a little more expensive than ordinary bottles (about £10 for 2) but I think they're really worth it, you should have a look. My ds has never suffered from wind with them.

bumpinsheffield · 30/03/2006 16:04

oops - my DD has never suffered with wind with them. DS is 7 next week so I'd be suprised if he got colic now! LOL Grin

Has anyone used a travel cot from birth rather than a moses basket? Just thinking about how quickly baby would grow out of the basket, then get put in its cot, and we would probably buy a travel cot for when it is older and stopping at the grandparents anyway.

Any recommendations?

Let me know if this is a silly idea. First child and I know nothing!

Alychef · 30/03/2006 17:59

Hi VBAB, that sounds like a brilliant idea! I don't really want to buy a moses basket, a couple of friends said that their babies were in a basket for a couple of nights and were straight into the cot. We also need to buy a travel cot for grandparents etc...sounds positively spiffing to me!!! :o
