Hey, congratulations, Oi! Sorry you had the stress of an emergency CS, but a 9lb baby was not the monster you feared! So do tell: is he actually Ginger?
ChristmasWoollyPullOver, that really made me laugh, about the MW's disapproval. Fancy our enjoying something so contra-indicated by a medical professional!
Makes me feel cool and rebellious again, instead of like a sad woman in a broken down body who can scarcely move! (honestly, I really can't move this evening, after lying down) (BaaBaaHumbug, I like the sweary threads, too! I can't find it now, but there was a good one a few years ago called: "AIBU to really love swearing". It must have been the "drunk thread" of that week, as it was heavily trafficked and luridly painted with effs and cees - and not of the CBeebies, variety, either)
Talking about medical professionals, it's crap that you are getting all sorts of conflicting advice, SoTired. I think aethelfleda's analysis is a very sound and subtle one: "if they think you are overfeeding baby then the thing to reduce would be the amount of top-up, thus getting you back towards your target of a breast-fed baby," - yes, why not reduce the top ups first, if you are reducing anything!?
In my experience, small babies are very inefficient feeders, so the time they spend on the breast is likely to seem more extreme than a bottle-fed baby's feeding.
figgy, I had my show earlier today, and that seems to be it for now, so I am assuming that was the plug and that's that. Sorry for TMI, but it was extremely stretchy. Is that what you had, too?
Tinselperion, thanks very much for sharing those studies. It's a really good time to be thinking about generosity, not only for the time of year, when we may feel under pressure to keep others (and one another) happy, but also at a time of our lives when we really are really depending on others' help!
mopsy, your DH has been making a very generous effort himself, there!
YBR, good that you have them being looked at. What a star DH, keeping track of them and nursing you like that.
TheFirstNoelChinchilla, someone mentioned a booklight in the maternity bag; have you got one of those, to go with your reading?
MerrySorelip, your post made me smile, as I had some wine this evening, too, and both Dh and my mother were a bit disapproving. I must admit, it wasn't as nice as I had hoped (maybe my tastebuds are conspiring, too), but it bloody felt good to have done it, and now I think I feel a bit better physically, too.
