Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Good news! And really, I guess the bits I'd shave for taking dd swimming aren't the bits with the varicose veins... Thanks too . Impressed with your Xmas shopping effort. I did lots on amazon today, still got a fair few to do though... It must feel good to get loads done! I don't do a stocking for dh, or he for me. Pressure off though, and I've ordered his present over the internet too! I figure with 3 children there'll be plenty of stockings to do and i announced we weren't children and it was all consumerism our first year together so have noone to blame but myself for no stocking...

Yay congrats to Little! Welcome welcome!

I've been super busy the last couple of days, and reading back over this thread for that period is pretty scary stuff! I'm glad the birth stories have trailed off. I keep forgetting just how few first timers are in here! I guess the head-in-sand approach isn't really an option the second time around!

I hope Biscuits' DS feels better soon. It's a shame Musical's appt was a bit of a waste of time but hopefully the next one will be more helpful. Plus congrats to Scarlet and Fishcake for good scans!

My sciatica's a nightmare at the mo, mainly because I worked so late on fri and spent the whole of today on my feet cooking. Will have to lie flat all day tom if I want to be able to walk on Monday! Bit of a pain, but at least I ordered all my Xmas shopping earlier this week! Just DH left to sort out now, will have to use my time tom to figure out a pressie for him!

broccolitrees · 04/12/2011 08:08

hi
can i join in?
have 6 year old dd, and due dc2 in mid july. sick as a sick thing every morning, desperately tired and panicking about going back to work tomorrow after week's annual leave, in which i have got virtually none of what i wanted to get done done, so christmas might be interesting Xmas Hmm have complicated obstetric history, so definitely need some chill time, and long (not too long Xmas Grin boring pregnancy and easy birth Xmas Wink

pommedechocolat · 04/12/2011 09:02

Welcome broccoli!

I think I can pretty much guarantee you lots of brooking for trouble free pregnancy here. There a few of us high Riskers here (although I think one's having/had the baby now!) so lots of consultant lead chat too!

pommedechocolat · 04/12/2011 09:03

Huge congratulations by the way too!

JenFestive · 04/12/2011 09:07

Welcome broccoli

Plonk down and make yourself comfy. You can choose your glittery sick bucket from the selection on the side, we do every colour you can think of.

I was sick all day, every day for 9 weeks but it has gone now thank goodness! I'm just waiting for the tiredness to go. I'm ok if I'm just at home but if I go out anywhere (Truro shopping yesterday for example) then I get knackered.

Can you order your Christmas bits online?

JenFestive · 04/12/2011 09:09

Oh, forgot to say

We have a stats thread if you want to add your details to it

stats

Thought I'd say it before biscuits jumps in :)

Biscuitsandtea · 04/12/2011 10:14

Welcome broccoli and congratulations on your pregnancy Xmas Smile.

As jen says, help yourself to a glittery vom bucket. How many weeks along are you? I can't remember if you said in your post Xmas Blush and am on phone so can't check.

I hope the sickness doesn't hang around for too long though xx

I am snuggled up on the sofa with DS today under his duvet - no more sickness but still has a bit of a temperature though.

Just remembered I have to write Christmas cards Xmas Confused! Not sure how I'd forgotten this particular element of Christmas Xmas Hmm

In other pregnancy brain news, I found myself thinking the following yesterday:

'I wonder if tea tree oil is ok for DH to use, what with being pregnant?' Xmas Hmm

Errr, that would be me then that's pregnant? So probably not going to affect dh's use of tea tree oil too drastically!

Biscuitsandtea · 04/12/2011 10:19

Ooh Broccoli I see that you said due mid July - does that make you 8 weeks ish?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 04/12/2011 11:11

Hello Broccoli welcome! Lovely to see you managed to follow my breadcrumb trail Xmas Wink Oh and welcome Little we are being spoilt with newbies it is fabulous!

Sorry to hear about your poorly fanjo Dream :(
I am pretty sure Veet is fine, you only have it on a short while and it just acts on the hair, I would use the sensitive version as pg skin is extra sensitive. On a similar note I am going to have to get Dh to cut my toenails, I managed on foot fine but the other was really difficult as my bump was right in the way!

Nice hearing about everyone's shopping, I had a wobby as I was trying to use my Tescos vouchers online and the site kept dying! In the end one of my items went out of stock so I am really pissed. AND we had to call them twice which led to being on hold for about an hour in total and the first time they didn't fix the problem!! (The site ate our vouchers) Still managed to get some nice things for the girls. And that is us done famous last words? Things are a bit tight so family will be getting baked goods :)

As for sickness I am still battling with nausea with some days being better than others. However, I did eat a banana because I was hungry and then had to run to the bathroom and promptly threw it up on Friday. Xmas Hmm

I do have some exciting news... My BP was low on Sat!!!!! I did absolutely nothing in the morning as activity makes it higher and then had a lift to the hospital, so I suppose you could say it was artificially low.... I still am being monitored weekly and I am no out of the woods yet. If I can keep it low then the MW said I can have the baby at the MLU as we are a few months off delivery! I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this Xmas Grin!

Sorry a bit of a me me me post, I don't have much time as I am out today but hadn't posted in a while :)

JenFestive · 04/12/2011 11:19

Glad to hear your BP was low purple

It is always higher in the morning apparently. I had high BP about a year ago and the nurse told me that I had to have morning appointments as it goes down during the day. They wanted to take it when it was likely to be at its highest to get a more accurate picture of what was going on. She said it doesn't make much sense as you would expect it to be lowest after sleeping all night but the human body doesn't like to make sense a lot of the time

TheLittleFriend · 04/12/2011 13:04

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone, and thank you for saying you'd been waiting for me pomme that made me feel very special! Xmas Smile

By my calculations I'm only 4+3 weeks atm, so it's very very early days. I'm a bit of a worrier, didn't feel confident about my pregnancy with my dd until well after the 12 week scan. And because I've had low progesterone whilst ttc, I'm worried I don't have enough to maintain the pregnancy. Anyway, enough worrying for now, mostly I'm trying to just take every day as it comes and not think ahead too much right now.

Biscuitsandtea · 04/12/2011 13:08

Little - can they do anything about the progesterone? I'm afraid I don't really know anything about it but I thought I'd heard of some people on here having supplements or something? Were you on anything for it while ttc?

TheLittleFriend · 04/12/2011 13:12

Hi biscuits, I'm going to ask about it when I tell the docs I'm preg, which I imagine will be next week. I wasn't taking anything whilst pregnant. I'm hoping that because my cycle length was improving, and because i have actually managed to conceive, maybe the levels are high enough anyway. I think the acupuncture I was having helped too, so I'm going to keep that up.

Wants3 · 04/12/2011 15:49

Just finished writing out all my Christmas cards so thought I better add one more!
To all the lovely ladies on the No Brooking thread,
Xmas Smile Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
From wants,DH,DS1,DS2 and bean. Xxxx

dreamfeeder · 04/12/2011 16:09

Oh, thanks wants, a lovely thought!!! I should be doing that.... Instead I am on here, but also simultaneously uploading photos to snapfish to print to make my dad an album of his life since us (me and my sister) for Xmas- what a pain in the neck. I did one for my mum's 60th last May, and he helped by emailing me old childhood photos, (even though they're divorced now,) and I thought thank goodness I never, ever have to go through the organizing, sorting, dating, sticking in and labelling palaver ever again and it's all he wants for Xmas.... boo!!! So anyway, I'm ordering photos. Only 60, so can't be that bad, right?!?

I'm Brooking No Argument that pregnant is pregnant little, that progesterone level must be doing just fine, and will continue to do so!. End of.

Fabulous about the bp purple

my phone's just rung, back later!

scarletfingernail · 04/12/2011 19:31

Welcome broccoli (I'll probably spell that differently every time I type it) and Congratulations on your BFP.

Little I had concerns before my BFP about my progesterone being low, but I didn't actually get it tested so don't know for sure whether it was or not. (Had low progesterone diagnosed before conceiving DS) The month I got my BFP this time though I'd ovulated late for my cycle so was terrified in the early weeks that my LP wouldn't have been long enough (I think that's progesterone affected isn't it?) But luckily all's been well. We're all brooking for you and your LO will be absolutely fine and stay nice and comfy for the next 36ish weeks.

Purple fantastic news about your BP. Jen that's interesting about it being higher in the morning. Although mine's ok the last time I had it checked with the midwife it was towards the higher end of normal at 9am but when I had it tested at the hospital with my scan on Friday later in the day it was completely fine. Will be interested to see what it is at my next midwife appointment which is early again.

Biscuits glad your DS is on the mend. Funny about your pregnancy brain. I've also been doing crazy things. Mum came over the other day and bought us a Flake each. I put them in the fridge for later but when I went to get them they weren't there. I found them in the freezer 2 days later! Freezer is the other side of the kitchen to the fridge so no idea what I was thinking.`

Scream sorry to hear you've been struggling with your sciatica. That really sucks. Sad

Our Christmas tree has gone up today. The first time we've bothered since having DS. He loves it. Christmas cards have been written and I've even managed to wrap some presents. Starting to feel a little festive now.

I'm feeling a lot more movement from the bean (can't think of anything else to call it) Still quite tickly as opposed to full on kicks but feeling it more frequently and stronger all the time.

dreamfeeder · 04/12/2011 22:00

our Christmas tree is up!!! Love it.

Getting kicked to death by the boys, especially at night, stopping me sleeping- along with the reflux. Swigging gaviscon from the bottle without even having stopped puking from the m.s, seems pretty unfair to me... They're at it now too. I've been horrible all weekend and wish I could just be a bit nicer even if I don't feel great... Sad

scream, bad about your back, have you got a support belt or anything?

love the pregnancy brain story biscuits!!

Took til 9pm to cuddle get DD to sleep. Does a cold and cough still lingering mean I should wait to Toddler Tame her?! I'm sick of it...

scarlet, I can't call these two beans, DD is still The Bean in our house at nearly 15 months!!! They're just being the boys, or the twins!

Morning ladies Xmas Smile

Hope you're all well this morning. But Xmas Envy of those with their Christmas trees already up - think we're going to put ours up next weekend. Xmas Smile

Poor Dream and the vomming / Gaviscon combo. It doesn't seem fair to have both at the same time. My heartburn has ramped up a bit so I'm having Gaviscon most days, but not swigging out of the bottle yet.

After 2 days lounging on the sofa with his duvet, DS decided that 10 past 2 this morning might be the time to get up Xmas Confused. He wasn't poorly, just decided it was time to wake up. I think it was just that he was better and had had so much rest over the weekend. So I spent the next 2 and a half hours putting him to bed, getting him drinks, taking him to the loo. Each time he'd go back to sleep (or at least go quiet) for 10 mins or so, then be up again. After about 3 cycles I was struggling I get back to sleep in between so I'm a bit knackered today. Eventually DH got up to him about 4:30 after I started sobbing about wanting to stay in bed Xmas Blush and that seemed to do the trick for a couple of hours but I am hoping to sneak a nap today as he's at nursery.

Mind you it's just started snowing a bit so I might go to the supermarket today so we don't have to go tomorrow just in case it has snowed. Think we might make mince pies tomorrow Smile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 05/12/2011 11:48

Welcome to Broccoli! (I will prob misspell that on a regular basis!).

Dream I'm sorry you've been having such a rough weekend, I'm No Brooking that you'll be feeling better soon!

V interesting about the BP in the morning, I'll have keep that in mind the next time I get a high reading!

Can I ask the second timers for some advice please? DH and I are thinking of booking a weekend away at 32 weeks. It's so late because it's the first weekend of my mat leave. We're just planning two nights in a cushy hotel in Brussels, and it's only 2 hours away by Eurostar. Do you think it's too late to travel tho? Will I be too uncomfortable to enjoy it anyway? My thought is that a lot of people continue working past 32 weeks, and this trip should be much more relaxing than work! Plus I'm confident that the medical care in Brussels would be great if I needed it (altho we don't speak the language). Am I being naive? We just really want one last romantic weekend!

GenericDietCola · 05/12/2011 11:54

Oh Little how lovely to see you here - well done!

Welcome Broccoli too.

Sorry to hear about the illness etc this weekend and Biscuits you must be knackered today after that!

Just been for my repeat blood test, so we will find out on Wed whether the hCG has risen enough, but I'm sure it will because I'm brooking no argument! Still feel really sick with sore boobs, so all the signs are good.

GenericDietCola · 05/12/2011 11:56

Scream I think that's a lovely idea and I wouldn't have thought there would be any problems in travelling at that stage. I would suggest you check that you are insured to travel though - I think some airlines (not sure about Eurostar) don't let you travel in the 3rd trimester.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/12/2011 12:05

Generic - I have no doubt whatsoever that your hcg levels will be through the roof from this test - when will you get the results?

I'm so glad it's not just me that can't spell broccoli Xmas Confused

Scream I think the trip sounds like a lovely idea too. What month will it be? I think as Generic says make sure that you are insured to travel but as long as you don't plan for it to be action packed you'd be fine to just potter at your own leisurely pace :)

Biscuitsandtea · 05/12/2011 12:10

Oh Scream - we went on holiday when I was about 30-32 ish weeks pg with DS - granted it was only in this country but a good 4-5 hours drive from home. So in terms of getting home probs not that much different than from Brussels. I agree that the lingo might be a barrier if there were to be a problem but I am sure you will be fine. You might want to make it a flexible booking just in case you're having any discomfort etc by that point?

Anyway - I was going to say I was fine being on holiday at that stage - as you say it's more relaxing than being at work and you can just go at your pace. It was very hilly where we went and that was one thing that nearly did me in - at points DH was trying to push me up some of the steeper ones Hmm but with it being a holiday if all else fails you can just sit down and enjoy something nice to eat and drink.

I made DH read the parenting books that we had and we spent a lot of time in cafes making lists about what we needed for the baby (we didn't shop early!) and lists of names etc. It was quite nice to have that quality time together to sort of prepare for everything to come.

JenFestive · 05/12/2011 13:23

Language shouldn't be a problem in Brussels, English is one of the 4 official languages of Belgium. Apart from that I haven't got a clue about travelling at that stage.
