Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Generic hope you feel better tomorrow!

Biscuitsandtea · 02/12/2011 22:09

Fishcake that sounds reasonable about the amount of spinal that you'd need. DS was born about half 2 in the afternoon and I was taken off to surgery straight away so must have had the spinal shortly after. The following morning i was still partly numb. I'd not been able to move or get up overnight and because I'd been sort of sat up / laid in bed with my knees up, the anaesthetic had settled in my bum and feet (the lowest points) and I could start to feel my knees and the middle of my legs - t'was very odd! But definitely lasted more than 12 hours - is say perhaps 16-18 hours? So maybe because it was unplanned they stuck enough anaesthetic in to numb an elephant? Or maybe they looked at me and thought I was an elephant Xmas Confused

fishcakefoxtrot · 02/12/2011 22:35

Biscuits that is quite a difference to my experience! I remember starting to get feeling back while still in recovery - It was such a relief! Maybe you had more to avoid needing other pain relief? I had a precautionary morphine suppository...

Biscuitsandtea · 02/12/2011 22:41

I suspect that's what it was Fishcake - as it was unplanned they just had to err on the side of caution I expect? Also I guess everyone processes it out if their system at different rates. In any event the mws were lovely and happy to help Smile so it wasn't too bad.

dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 00:02

Hello,I'm back from work Xmas night out, knackered!!
They had so many problems getting my epidural in that they didn't dare try a spinal for theatre, so I just had my epidural massively topped up as they reckoned I might have a GA otherwise. Shame as i had some patchy cover for the last bit of stitching, but had 5 months of back pain after just the epidural anyway- a consultant had 5 goes to get it in.... I was walking round about 6or 7 hours afterwards, but that was when i nearly fainted holding dd! Much encouraged by your experience fishcake, though i guess if you couldn't lift a full kettle you couldn't push a monster buggy?!

Fantastic news about your scan Fishcake and great that you get to have another one soon.

My placenta and baby were in the exact same position as yours Fishcake. The sonographer spent a good 30 minutes scanning so I think she did a thorough check of everything, but I did get the impression it was a bit difficult. She didn't speak at all for 15 minutes! The longest I've waited for any reassurance out of all my scans (and I've had a lot) but all ok in the end.

I'm so tired today and we have such a busy weekend planned. I just want to stay in bed Xmas Sad

Biscuitsandtea · 03/12/2011 12:13

Morning ladies Xmas Smile

Well, I'm having a slightly surprise session catching up on Masterchef. The in laws have come round to help with a bit of DIY (well FIL to do the DIY, MIL to look after DS with me and keep him out of the way). So after taking DS for a haircut this morning, we came back through the front door and he promptly threw up! Which was a bit of a surprise and now is really tired and a bit under the weather Sad.

He seemed to perk up a bit (as you often do after vomming) while I was cleaning up but then just announced he was going to bed. Poor little sausage Sad

Anyway, then he decided that he was wanted Granny to read to him, so she's been sat up with him for about 30 mins singing him songs and reading. I feel like a bit of a spare part really (and like I'm not really doing my duty for my poorly boy?). But he seems happy enough resting. He has a bit of a temperature, but I've held off of the calpol for now, with him having been sick. I think if his temp hasn't gone down by this afternoon I might reconsider.

Now to get the smell of sick out of my nose Confused.

Little friend!!!! Yay!! Huge congrats. We'll be ready when you are with the welcome pack.

I've been waiting for you :)

jaggythistle · 03/12/2011 14:27

Yay little! :) :)

hope DS better soon biscuits.

dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 14:49

oh little how fabulous!!!!! I'm so pleased you're here!!!!

Im so blooming grumpy I'm going to bed- DD been a brat, plus wont nap, so DH taken her out in the cold in her buggy, grotty chest and all. Couldn't even find her hat, and didn't care by then... [bad mother emoticon] At least she has two hoods up?! and the last 4 days I keep throwing up. WHY isn't it over yet?! Sad [very grumpy emoticon]

Oh, I'm also grumpy about my varicose veins in/near my fanjo- the doctor says not to shave, or be extremely careful as nicking them would be a disaster with the massive blood volume of twin pg, plus just nicking any varicose vein is going to bleed like a stuck pig, and nothing, but nothing will help.... I optimistically asked if a support belt might take some bump weight off and ease pain when on my feet at least, but they think not. So my stupid question is can you use VEET or other depilatory cream stuff in pg? If it even matters, maybe I should hide the grotesque-ness??!!

Sorry your DS is ill biscuits, poor little button, and I hope he doesn't get the whole D&V thing thats clearly going round- all too clear in my memory.... enjoy a quick break, he's probably loving the attention from granny.

Right, bed. I'm only on here panic buying xmas presents on amazon, only when i start looking I realise I don't know exactly what I/m after IFKWIM. My sister wants ipod headphones- easy I thought, but now realise I don't know if she meant in ear, or headphone style, or with ear clip for the gym... etc etc. So I'm being unproductive and wasting time and enough rambling, i'm going for a rest...

The only thing thats cheered me up is your news little, mega congratulations again!

OP posts:
scarletfingernail · 03/12/2011 16:04

Mega congratulations Little that's fantastic news. Looking forward to seeing you here properly when you're ready.

dream Sad about the varicose veins. Sounds like you've got it bad. Don't know about the veet, but if I were you I'd not worry too much. Just get your DH to give you a trim down there with some nail scissors when it gets a bit wild. Don't even think about using the razor and let's face it with everything else you've got going on a hairy fanjo is the last thing you need to be worrying about Grin

Biscuits I hope your DS is feeling much better. There's so many horrible things going round at the moment, I'm looking forward to the Christmas break so I don't have to worry about DS picking up anything nasty from playgroup or any of his other activities. I'm always Shock and Angry by the amount of people who send their kids off out to these things when they're sick. 1 I'd never be so inconsiderate and would be worried about spreading the bugs and 2 it can't be fair on them if they're not feeling 100%. I'm not talking coughs and colds, I mean proper full on illness, stomach bugs etc.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/12/2011 16:12

I agree Scarlet - I think when they're poorly they just want to be at home (like most of us do!) - I would never knowinlgy send himanywhere poorly. Although I had just taken him to the hairdressers this morning, but I didn't know he was poorly then - he kept that little surprise until we got home. He is having a nap now anyway which should make him feel better. Although he kept down a lot of lunch his temp was still rising so I've given him some calpol and that seemed to help - ah, magic calpol!

Oooh, just noticed it's getting dark - better get my washing in!

scarletfingernail · 03/12/2011 16:21

Obviously you can't help it if you don't know they're about to be ill and I'd like to think most people wouldn't knowingly send their child out sick. But it does happen a lot more than I ever thought it would. I've even had a friend bring their DC round to my house to play with DS and after they've arrived told me what a terrible night they've had with their DC throwing up all night Shock "But he seems fine again this morning" Angry One of the few times I've ever wrestled with my conscience as a parent as I really wanted them to clear off out of my house and get that toy of DS's out of their DCs mouth. But instead I half joked "oh so you thought you'd come and share the germs ha ha" hoping they'd realise I had a point but unfortunately not. So I sat there seething, worrying and waited for them to bugger off before getting the Dettol out.

dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 16:32

scarlet, I'd NEVER do that. I was quarantining dd with her tummy bug. We went round to one friends though- I told her about the explosive nappies (vomiting long over) and she said 'we're not scared of her germs!' I gave a more graphic description, she still invited us round!!! And let her play with the toys! I wouldn't have if it was the other way round, I'd rung for something else never expecting to meet up (but was glad of the break from house arrest!). I'd be horrified if someone turned up and then started describing their DC's illness while they were sharing and sucking the same toys as my dd...

biscuits, calpol is magic, think they all feel better when their temp comes down a bit. I hope he gets better not worse.

And why oh why am I still puking today and still to have a proper meal?!

Welcome Little! Grin

Dream so sorry you're being sick lots today :( I've been sick lots over the last few days, including waking up in the middle of the night feeling like I will be - not sure what's up with that. Confused With regard to the rubbish fanjo veins... I have an electric trimmer I use, which can work as a complete shave - but also has a safety thing and can be used to trim? If you're really desperate maybe you could use something like that?

Biscuits, how's DS doing? Hope the nap has helped.

FINALLY booked my Christmas grocery order today! Cooking for 8 on Christmas day, so glad I've finally been able to reserve a few items. Have also finally bought some decorations today, and after a concert tonight I'm planning on spending Sunday at home doing very little - can't wait!

JenFestive · 03/12/2011 17:09

Hi little

We're not that scary in here although there seems to be a competition to see who has had the worst labour experience at the moment :)

fishcakefoxtrot · 03/12/2011 17:20

Congratulations Little!

Nothing to contribute here. Am working. Again. Bored now.

Oh, I did have a mince pie earlier, and a tangerine! Felt proper Christmassy Xmas Smile.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/12/2011 18:37

Thank you all for your thoughts for DS - I think he's a little better. He slept for a few hours and his temperature has come down a bit. Didn't eat too much tea, but he ate quite a lot of lunch. Just about to administer more calpol and pack him off to bed. Other than that we're making the most of lots of cuddles from a not particularly cuddly small person! He's only actually been sick the once so that's not too bad at all.

Dream sorry you're still being sick - and you musical. Dream, you must have been stir crazy being under house arrest for so long with dd - you poor things! How is she doing now?

dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 18:37

oooh, I had a mince pie and tangerine too fishcake! I'm only 3 days behind you- 20+2 to your 20+5, maybe we are secretly all in sync?!

jen, you should get little to tell you her birth story, she really does have a good one, it's very encouraging!

Right, a pooey nappy calls...

OP posts:
dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 18:40

good he's not too bad biscuits! Her tummy finally seems to be improving- though this nappy may be a bad one, there was no sink emptying sound which strikes fear into my heart Wink. Her cough is possibly worse though, very frustrating as she loves being outside but we feel like shes best indoors at the minute. Her breathing still sounds like min Darth Vadar but she's much more cheerful. I will probably/possibly take her to playgroups she usually goes to next week with just a cough and cold though or I'll go crackers- how bad is that??!!

OP posts:
pommedechocolat · 03/12/2011 20:36

My rule is a cold - do whatever you want (but keep them warm) and send to nursery too. Anything worse keep away from others!

I had a mince pie yesterday but have been eating them since November :)

dreamfeeder · 03/12/2011 20:40

Thanks pomme!!! And there are always runny noses a-plenty at playgroups anyway....

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 03/12/2011 22:24

Have been Christmas shopping with my sister all afternoon and didn't get home til half-past 8. Late night opening is evilly seductive. Still, I have got most of DH's presents (little stocking filler things mainly) and all my friends' presents. Still got to get things for little siblings, nephew and niece, BIL, SIL, PIL, Mum and stepfather. I got very grumpy at 5 and we had to go sit in a cafe and recover with hot chocolate and scones. Now my hips are killing me and I am walking like an old woman, despite the fact that I insisted on getting the bus back instead of walking.

Biscuits, hope your DS feels better soon! Scarlet, I agree that no one should bring poorly kids out in public. I remember when I was about 14 my stepmother's friend brought her kids round and walked into the house announcing that they were just getting over chicken pox. I hadn't had it and was furious and went and hid in my room in classic teenager fashion. You ought to at least warn people in advance!

Yay, congratulations, Little!

Dream, I think you can use Veet so long as you're in a well-ventilated room. Like hair dye. Also the trimming with an electric shaver is a good plan. I got DH to trim me a couple of weeks ago!

Yay for an excellent scan, Fishcake, and for getting another one soon.
