Hands around a mixture of V-shaped pillows, pregnancy pillows, and re-arranges the glittery vom buckets ready.

Gets the jelly snakes going, along with some Cadburys for good measure, and a strategically placed fruit bowl to disguise the unhealthy choices.

Flicks the duster round, sinks down into a comfy sofa and awaits the rest...

Poor dd Dream - hope she's better skin xx

Wants3 · 20/11/2011 21:27

I also have a pair of the new look jeans with the comfy band around the top. They sit over the bump ATM but I think they will be comfy under the bump when it gets bigger! That is the only pair of 'maternity' trousers I have. I am living in those and leggings so am bored already.
Jen I went to babyshow in oct for research and may go back to the feb one to pick up bargains!

dreamfeeder · 20/11/2011 21:36

I really hope DD is better soon- we're nearing 6 weeks without a single day where she's been totally well, and the evenings, and nights, are certainly taking their toll....

Maybe I'll try on some New Look ones- only mat wear I can buy near me Shock My under the bump jeans are New Look. Fine at the minute, but I know they won't be comfy throughout. Snap wants, I have those jeans, plus one black combat maternity trousers, and thats it... What can you wear leggings with? Does it have to be a tunic-type top?

Dream - I don't suppose your dd had her mmr recently did she? DS was off colour for about 6 weeks after his - not hugely poorly, but constant stream of colds and general niggliness. Long enough that I began to wonder if it in fact wasn't a phase but he'd been lulling me into a false sense of security for the previous year!

Don't think it was ever a 'proper' bona Gide side effect of the mmr, but it definitely came straight after?

dreamfeeder · 20/11/2011 21:59

No, sadly, that'll be the next thing biscuits. I cancelled it when she was properly poorly with her Roseola Infantum thing when I was so worried about her, and she's never been well since... They say don't give it if they're unwell, as the MMR is live vaccine, so they need to be well for the sero-conversion to be effective, so the HV said when I rang to enquire... Well, she just had her cough really most of last week, so I did ring up and re-booked her for MMR this Thursday, and now I wonder if I'll have to cancel again. And everyone I know has a child who's been ill after the MMR so will I ever sleep again, and when will she be better?!?!?

Oh, my poor little tike is burning up, 39 after calpol, and projectile vomiting. Everywhere. Vomited and nearly choked on it in her cot, now whole house stinks of it after a vomit versus carpet incident. I'm so tired, but guess its going to be another long night... I wish I could magic her well Sad

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 21/11/2011 05:26

Oh Dream you poor poor thing. Are you taking dd to the docs today? Hope her temperature came down.

Re the mmr, didn't mean to scare you Confused. I have to say too I know loads of people who were totally unaffected by the jab. In fact most of the kids I know who are a similar age to DS were just fine after it. Honest!

And I meant bona fide, not Gide earlier - how can that even be a word Mr Autocorrect?

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 21/11/2011 08:47

Oh poor Dream and poor DD! How is she this morning? Did the calpol help?

Biscuits, what were you doing up at such an ungodly hour??

Fishcake - oh no, I have a Quinny! Oh well. I'll just have to get the hang of it because it's much too late to put it back now. DH will have the pain of fiddling with it at first, anyway - they say after a CS not to push a pram for the first few weeks, so I shall use that as an excuse.

I haven't started any bio oil or similar, yet. I have lots of stretchmarks but they have faded away in the last 8 months to almost nothing. I did try with the cocoa butter/bio oil last time but I would put it on after a bath at night and then feel like it was just soaking into the sheets, not into me, and it was the same thing if I tried putting it on in the mornings - felt like it was being absorbed by my clothes. I don't have time to sit around naked waiting for it to sink in!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/11/2011 09:16

Too DH got up at 5 which woke up so then I needed to go to the loo! And then I was a bit awake so I thought I'd check MN because I'm addicted.

I've been using bio oil too when I remember - I had pretty bad stretch marks last time so I'm not exactly holding out much hope as they're starting to reappear again but I thought I ought to do something. I'm trying to be more dedicated as bio oil reckons it can lessen the appearance of existing ones so I wondered if while they're all stretched out again (rather than in my wobbly post birth tummy) it might work better on them.

Still it's not like I envisage ever showing my stomach to anyone, I never did before and having children hasn't made it any more aesthetically pleasing!

Hope Dream and her dd are having a well deserved sleep in.

scarletfingernail · 21/11/2011 09:51

Oh no dream I can't believe DD is ill again. I hope you didn't have too bad a night?

On the subject of MMR I can honestly say DS was absolutely fine. No reaction whatsoever. He's always been fine after all of his vaccinations, I've never even had to get the Calpol out.

Bio Oil is fab. I used loads of it last time and although it didn't prevent stretch marks it did reduce the redness and made the appearance not quite so ugly. I'm another who hates moisturising and don't usually bother but I would definitely recommend Bio Oil.

Over the bump jeans were the only ones I could get on with last time. I found myself hitching up the under the bump ones all the time. I put my old ones on one day last week but I think DS must have stretched them so much they kept falling down. I need to get a new pair and mine are too worn in although they'll probably be fine when I get bigger. I got on with the Mothercare ones best, although the only others I bought were from Next. I bought a pair in Asda last week but I've not tried them on yet. They have some great, cheap maternity clothes in there. I spent a fortune buying better branded clothes last time but since I'll never be wearing maternity clothes again after this time I'm going for cheap this time.

Glad you had a good weekend Biscuits. I had a good one, but have found it exhausting. Cooking for 7 has taken it's toll and I'm knackered. Planning a nice chilled out day today, DS and I are still in our PJs watching tv.

Biscuitsandtea · 21/11/2011 10:11

Ah Scarlet - I love it when you have those lazy mornings just chilling out!

I have an over the bump pair of Next jeans from last time, which I am surprised seem ok this time round (I thought they'd be too stretched) - only minimal hitching required :) I also bought some of those with just a jersey panel where the pockets should be and an elasticated waist for the early weeks because I wear jeans all the time. But I'm hoping to keep those for after the birth too so don't want to stretch them too much now. I thought they be nice for that bit when you're coming back down. I've also just bought a pair of straight leg jeans from Next to wear with my Uggs and they're sort of under bump so may well annoy me as time goes on!

DH is off to do some DIY today which is great - realistically I can't do any cleaning if he's making a mess can I?

scarletfingernail · 21/11/2011 10:18

No of course you can't Biscuits would completely be a waste of time Smile

I begged DH to take today off, or at least go in late. I've been awake since 5 after a bad night's sleep and a hectic weekend. I felt like crying when he was leaving for work, thinking about the 12 hours ahead. Which sounds awful because DS is so good but can't be left to his own devices obviously. I really really want a duvet day.

Wants3 · 21/11/2011 10:41

I wear my leggings with longish tops or jumpers or with a short stretchy skirt so my bottom is covered! I have polo shirts for work which are quite short so my jeans and the skirt are a godsend!
I have a morning off, going in at lunch time so I am just watching the home and health channel! I really should be looking at my uni assignment :(

scarletfingernail · 21/11/2011 10:47

Is your boiler sorted wants*?

dreamfeeder · 21/11/2011 11:27

Morning all!

Just got DD down for a nap. I say that like it was effort, sctually she just fell asleep on me. Most unusual, the one benefit of illness Wink. I did finally get her down in her cot at about 2ish, and she slept til 4:30, and then after a bit of cuddling, til 6, and came in bed and dozed til nearly 8, but she's too busy coughing and wriggling for me to sleep then. So could have been worse, but I'm pretty knackered. Popping on quickly, then I will join her for a lie down, which makes me despair and I really, really need to do some cleaning.... I can't believe she's ill again and not better in the first place!! She's almost never been ill before. I've been taking her to loads more baby and toddler groups as it's easier for me entertainment-wise, and DH's first comment on the projectile puking last night was 'well, there's loads of bugs at those groups, no wonder'. Like it's my fault! When it could have been anything, and he's the one who examines people with D&V every day, and comes home and picks her up without changing his clothes.

Right, might check Asda for mat jeans. I too have been told it's my last pg, so may as well buy cheap. I always worry they've been made by children in sweatshops in India though... that's why I love GAP!

scarlet, some hope for her being ok after MMR then, though she was a bit ill after her 12 week immunisations, and really off aafter the 16 week ones

So enough about me and my poor DD...

Hope everyone else is doing ok, I'm off for a lie-down, ignoring the cleaning, probably earning myself Most Slovenly title....

I have a question for those of you with your second bumps. I am 8+3 and my trousers are already done up with a hairband looped through the buttonhole. We would like to tell ds before anyone else but would do that after the 12 week scan (which I am still waiting for a date for but should be in the 2 weeks before Christmas). I am thinking I am likely to be showing by then and we have dp's folks down on 7 dec. I think it is going to be really hard not to tell them or for them to guess. When did your second bumps start actually showing?

dream por you and poor dd, I really hope she starts to get better soon. I remember the first year ds was at nursery he was constantly ill. It is so wearing to deal with.

Biscuitsandtea · 21/11/2011 13:34

Ninja, I was wearing maternity jeans by 8 weeks. Only those with the jersey panels instead of pockets, and I could have persevered with normal trousers if I'd needed to but because I don't work, I wasn't hiding from anyone!

I know what you mean about having visitors - My sis came down when I was 8 weeks and we had to tell her because I didn't think I could hide it properly! (We had had the 8 week scan though, so after that we told our parents (only because my mum already knew because she saw a photo i'd taken on my phone of my pee stick - d'oh!) and then my sis because she was visiting, and DH's bro because that seemed fair if we'd told my sis.

Otherwise i would have held out until 12 weeks. We also held out until 12 weeks to tell DS. I know your DS is a bit older but I bet you'd be surprised that he might not really notice? If you've got any loose fitting tops I bet that'll be enough to fool a small child? (I don't mean to do your ds a dis-service there!).

We didn't tell anyone else until 12 weeks. Could you perhaps tell your parents but on an 'its early days' basis?

dreamfeeder · 21/11/2011 15:05

ninja, I was noticing a bulge from 8 or 9 weeks and definitely showing by 12. I think the only slight disguise was the puking weight loss. We told shed loads of people from 6 weeks on though, on an 'its early days' basis because i couldn't eat or drink and was vomiting all day. So had to confess at dd's first birthday party, as couldn't exactly say I had a tummy bug when they were eating food is prepared etc.

I have vacuumed the house, finally. A.real lick and promise job because dd scared of vacuum, plus being ill she won't be put down. Lugging dyson and dd up and downstairs probably a terrible idea in hindsight, but i feel better about having had a quick whip round at least. No skirting boards, minimal dusting and certainly doesn't hit normal standards, but i hate living in a shit-tip mess. I even tried getting dd to watch tv, but she wasn't having any of it so the rest will have to wait.

Hope.you're still managing after your super early start biscuits. I'm flagging!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 21/11/2011 15:28

I'm not surprised you're flagging Dream - I may have been up just after 5but at least I'd got some sleep before that! You poor poor thing!

biscuits ds has been asking for a sibling (and I mean 'mummy I think you should have a baby') and referring to said sibling as if it already existed for some time Grin so I think he will be fairly chuffed.
dream put that hoover down this instant and get into the duvet nest with dd and watch cbeebies for an hour or so and have a nap, thats an order! The only thing you should be getting up for this afternoon is the toilet and the kettle.

Hello limeflower welcome to the land of brooking no argument

LimeFlower · 21/11/2011 16:03

Hello Ninja it's amazing how the attitude can change the things-so far so good...
I was lurking on MN for a looong time before I picked up some courage to post anything.Still remember the first thread with aubergine brooking no argument-gosh,how much I was laughing when she got her BFP absolutely gobsmacked.Go,girls and keep no brooking because it really works Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/11/2011 17:20

Dream I'm sorry to hear your DD is ill again. We've all recently (or currently!) been through 6+ weeks of feeling constantly ill, with D&V thrown in for extra fun on occasion, so I think we can all sympathise even more than usual with your LO! I hope this is the last of it and she turns a corner soon!

I had my first indep mw appt with the back up mw today, and she's also lovely. Fundal height is spot on apparently (which is a relief because I feel like my stomach has been exploding outwards recently!) and she was happy with the heartrate too. Ironically my blood pressure is better than it's ever been! Usually I'm high, but just at the border of high enough that they'd actually try medication. Now I'm down in the normal zone for the first time ever! It's been a nice lazy day here as well, because I take all my antenatal appt days as WFH.

There was a nice moment when the mw couldn't initially find the LO to measure the heartbeat. So I pointed to the spot where I generally feel the most movement and the mw found a heartbeat there straight away! So it definitely is movement and not just muscle twinges!

Now there's nothing left to distract me from the interminable wait for the 21 week scan!! I'm not tempted to sneak in anymore private scans though, I feel like my little bean has been scanned, poked and prodded enough for a while! If I add any more private scans in it'll only be at 28 weeks, halfway between my anomaly scan and my 36 week extra scan.

Feels like such a long haul left though. Does anyone else feel like they've been pregnant FOREVER?! Soooooooooo jealous of Hawthers in the home stretch! You've definitely earned it though, can't wait until December and the appearance of your LO!

Welcome to Lime.
