Oh addicted! At least you weren't 6 days late!

SlightlyScrambled · 11/11/2011 20:08

So sorry to hear about your cat Cakes Sad I still miss my cat sometimes, who died over 10 years ago.

Thanks Greenlady for that link. I'll definitely be following all of the tips in the hopes of getting a flip from the bump.

Addicted

SlightlyScrambled · 11/11/2011 20:10

Opps, pressed the wrong button there.
I've done that too Addicted, I now triple check and then just give the appointment card to DH to read.

abeautifulbutterfly · 11/11/2011 20:24

Oh cakes, sorry about the kitty... I still remember getting home from holiday once to find a letter from the friend who'd been looking after the dogs to say the oldest one had had to be put down. WHole family howled for hours.

Addicted that's called baby brain. I turned up for a school parents' evening a day early this week (luckily my mum was still here to look after the kids so didn't have to drag DH home from work unnecessarily...)

Had my first night calf cramp of the pregnancy a couple of nights ago. Yuk. Only had one once before, also in pregnancy. Anyone else get them?

ParsleyLion1 · 11/11/2011 21:00

I've had one in the day but not at night. Did it wake you?

shonnomanom · 11/11/2011 21:08

cakes its never easy to lose a pet, so sorry for you and your family.

OP posts:
addictediam · 11/11/2011 21:12

Butterfly I got it in previous preg, used to wake up in serious pain screaming because i couldn't move my leg. It was awful, not something ive had this time round tho.

shonnomanom · 11/11/2011 21:12

Is now on mat leave!!! Grin

Yesterday afternoon/early evening I started to get a tight achey band across the top of bump. Today is the same. Can't ease it at all. Very uncomfortable.

OP posts:
shonnomanom · 11/11/2011 21:14

Oh ps yes horrible cramp here too. Both pregnancies, always the left calf.
Is bananas not supposed to help or is that an old wifes tale?

OP posts:
fishandlilacs · 11/11/2011 21:49

butterfly shonno Oh cramp-I had forgotten that joyous pregnancy symptom-I remember having a crippling couple of them when pregnant with dd. I'm not going to say I haven't this time because everytime I have said about a symptom that it's started shortly after. FX it doesn't.

I have heard that vit b is good for cramp-marmite anyone?

My indigestion is awful tonight-really bad. I have chugged so much gaviscon. I am also incredibly thirsty. I'm sure thats the gaviscon doing that. Reluctant to drink too much as off to bed and don't want to be up and down all night or pee myself (continence is a lot better since cough stopped)

greenlady78 · 11/11/2011 22:08

makescakes hugsssss!!! So sorry to hear about your pet Sad I lost a little one when I was about 7 and still think about Junior (that was his name). Take care!!!

butterflyshonno I also got bad cramps on the left calf, bizarre...mostly mild, but one evening woke up screaming in pain! Congrats on the maternity leave!

fish good luck with ofstead! And yes, over here thirst is non stop and it is a pain to wake up at 2am to pee and then not be able to sleep again...hmpf...I might be online then!

redheadbedhead · 12/11/2011 14:02

oh cakes sorry about the little cat, that's so sad Sad hope you and your sister are ok.

i'm getting bad cramps in left leg too, just at night. i eat marmite every day so that's obviously not helping! bananas are supposed to help, yes, because of the potassium in them i think, but they give me chronic indigestion nowadays so i have only eaten 3 in the last 6 months!!

ghosteditor · 12/11/2011 14:12

Cakes, I'm really really sorry about your cat.

I'm in Cambridge today after a really busy day yesterday - it turns out I no longer have the stamina to shop! We did a huge shop yesterday (thanks to all re the advice about crucial items!) and have bought a couple of things today, so we're well on the way now. However we did try the pram we're being loaned and it's massive and only just fits in the boot with nothing else in and the parcel shelf out. Didn't think of that - eek!!!

Also I'm a bit glum because I twisted my ankle wobbling off some stairs at the hotel - I'm so heavy now that my ankles aren't used to it. I pulled my hip trying not to fall and have really aggravated the ankle that I fractured in April - it's ok to walk on but obviously weak. Sad not what I need on a shopping day, or at this stage in the pregnancy. May end up on crutches even without PGP!

shonnomanom · 12/11/2011 17:53

Oh ghost rest that ankle as much as you can. The added weight of the baby doesn't help with the tiniest of sores.

I'm absolutely shattered and have a poorly dd & dp. Both trying to out do each other at being the grumpiest with a cold. To complicate matters my pgp is bad and tommorrow I need to go stands at a cenotaph for 30mins. Bring on Monday for a well deserved lazy day!

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend x

OP posts:
greenlady78 · 12/11/2011 17:57

oh no, ghost, sorry to hear about your ankle! Mine are puffy all the time now, so I wonder how hard it is to get it properly rested! Sad good luck!

shonno hope dd & dp get better very soon! And bring on Monday for a lazy day???!!! I wish Confused

Hugs ladies!

Nanny01 · 12/11/2011 18:37

CAKES I'm sorry to hear about your cat. We lost our last cat when he was less than a year he had been hit by a car.

Leg cramps, I get excrutiating ones in my right calf; I roll around our bed screaming like a baby crying.

ghosteditor sorry to hear about your troubles I have had a couple of falls when I have been pregnant before with the result of being hospitalised overnight as I was in shock. Hope you are ok get some ice packs out as they are really good and elevate it.

I too can not shop for long last week I did some Christmas shopping at it took me 20mins to walk back to the car and normally I could do it in 5.

As for missed appointment I have been terrible and I have turned up early and late for things.

Just looking forward tomorrow as ds1 turns in a teenager arrrr! can't believe I am going to have in the new year a teenager and a newborn very surreal.

SlightlyScrambled · 12/11/2011 19:04

Yes to the leg cramps during the night too. Both legs at the same time so I'm trying not to do any stretching.

I'm also getting a cotton mouth during the night. So dry that my lips have cracked too when I wake up the past few mornings. Drinking more but then I have go on two excursions to the loo during the night instead of one.

Shopping trips have turned into military operations. Every item is listed and what shops to do in what order. And then I'm still hobbling by the end of it all.

Nanny - will your teenager be handy for changing nappies and being a slave? Happy birthday to him!

fishandlilacs · 12/11/2011 19:24

ghost sorry to hear of your fall. Sounds ouch. Shopping stamina gone out of window here too, think i'm going to be housebound at this rate.

Just been to a lovely friends birthday party nice time for a pregnant lady 4.30pm. and there was food provided. It was nice to catch up with everyone had have a comfy seat. Saw lots of people I hadn't seen in ages had lots of comments about bump! Apparently according to my gorgeous friend I have a perfect circle beautiful bump. I certainly feel very round.

I'm so lucky, my female friends are all a bit woo, they are very supportive and celebrate femaleness in lovely ways. I always feel so nurtured when i'm round them.

abeautifulbutterfly · 12/11/2011 20:02

Oh thanks for the banana tip, had forgotten about the potassium link... Will go scoff one now. Mine was left leg, too.

YYY to lack of shopping stamina. Had to have 2 attempts at buying mat tights and indeed any item of clothing as simply CBA trying stuff on...

Last time I was pg dungarees were still OK but it seems they are now a complete fashion faux pas as absolutely nowhere has them. I can't be doing with these crap waistbands on mat trousers - they just fall down and I walk around trying not to show I'm hoicking them up all the time Angry.

But at least knitted woollen skirts and dresses seem to be in this season here and I think this may be my saving grace... I get so cold in the winter I really need warm clothes.

Ghost take care and rest up that foot.

BTW I love the FB thing but can't quite work out how to get thegroup up on my home page (sometimes it shows up and sometimes it doesn't...) I am so IT-illiterate Sad.

shonnomanom · 12/11/2011 21:52

I totally agree about the terrible mat trousers butterfly iv found that my sexy tubagrip and bump band help to secure my jeans a bit better.

Shopping is almost always an online job now. If it can't be done online then iv got either my mum or a backpack as my shopping companion. Max of 2 shops in any trip. And at that I'm done for the day.

fishandlilacs · 13/11/2011 10:06

BTW coconut water is VERY high in potassium and I really like it as a drink although it's not everyones taste. It's incredibly nutritious and hydrating and 1 portion has the equiv potassium to 3 nanas. Tesco sell vita coco for £3.50 for a bnig carton. It's pricey but the same size carton is 4.89 in Holland and barratt.

ParsleyLion1 · 13/11/2011 12:25

I love coconut water - that's worth knowing. Mind you I really went off it 1st trimester so had to throw mine away. I wonder if it will "sit" better now? Smile

fishandlilacs · 13/11/2011 16:44

parsley When I can afford to treat myself, i'm guzzling it by the gallon!

addictediam · 13/11/2011 17:13

It's very quiet here today.

Has anyone started taking raspberry leaf tablets or tea yet? I think I'm alittle early yet, but have started thinking about it and was wondering what others thought of it? I didn't take thwm last time is there any point? My mum swears by them and says they make bf and labour alittle easier. Any thoughts?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 13/11/2011 17:19

I thought they were meant to kickstart things...? I've been avoiding them for that reason

Had my hypno class yesterday - was amazing, but still processing. Must come and give you all a run down when I'm done processing :)

Thanks for the support about the cat. It feels kind of surreal now I'm back at my house, it was just so upsetting to see my mum and dad in so much pain.
