Sorry for the new thread and crap name but i needed to start one oi how are you doing good luck xxx

I have fallen off the face of MN for a week or so and have loadsss to catch up on! I have been busy doing coursework and seriously nesting!!

PGP is awful, to the point of making me cry, finally got a pyshio app, but not for another 2 weeks :( doesnt seem much point. OH continues not to even attempt a massage if i ask and rolls his eyes.

Been having really bad shooting pains that take my breath away, but seems as though baby is head down (and very low) im guessing its a nerve he is on.

Very strange and TMI... but earlier (when i went to the toilet) i could feel what felt like the head bulging on the outside, through my lady garden lol... freaked me out!!

Good luck oi !! Fingers crossed

tye glad you took the sick advice!!

Quick question - one of my ankles is really swollen but the other is not. Is this normal?

mopsytop · 10/11/2011 22:03

In fact, my ankle and whole foot is fairly swollen, the other seems more or less normal ...

sevensevenseven · 10/11/2011 22:10

plu someone I know claimed her only form of pain relief was red bull Hmm

plupervert · 10/11/2011 22:12

Any nicks or cuts which might not appear in the swollen flesh (with your bump in the way, you may need help to actually inspect this - I would)?

Does circling the foot at the ankle help?

NHS Direct (0845 4647) can be a useful source of information and moral fortification if you need to demand to be seen in A&E/ by Out Of Hours surgery for your area/ at your GP's. You know what "gatekeepers" can be like! Sad

mopsytop · 10/11/2011 22:19

No cutes or anything, it's not painful. Prob just normal pregnancy symptom! it's not very swollen really....

plupervert · 10/11/2011 22:31

Maybe elevate it, cool it (have you got any rubbing alcohol or witch hazel?), do some massage/circling, and see how it is? Then you will feel more credible in calling for help; it sounds as though you're a bit unsure about it now, and it would be a shame for you to be fobbed off if you do need help, just because you sound a bit dismissive of your own symptoms, IYSWIM.

Another one with random swelling, I have been fine with swelling this time around and had managed to keep my rings on until two hours ago when I woke up with tingly ring fingers and sausage hands. After using lots of cream to get them off I now have very sore knuckles and ring indents after just a few hours of swelling. Not pleasant.

anyone heard how cheep got on?

msbuggywinkle · 11/11/2011 04:37

Bleugh...am wide awake.

Anyway, my doula actually recommends a nice glass of wine to relax in early labour. I can confirm (had pethidine with DD1) that it does indeed make some women go off their heads...however, it did sod all for the actual pain. I was talking utter nonsense and unable to say anything that I actually wanted to say, I'd go straight to an epidural if I needed an instrumental delivery or anything.

KateM77 · 11/11/2011 04:38

Only 2 hours sleep so far tonight and I'm wide awake again. There's really no need for insomnia!

BeeMyBaby · 11/11/2011 05:02

ditto with the insomnia as well Sad

Mmmmcheese · 11/11/2011 05:33

Me too! Been awake since 1.30 :(

BeeMyBaby · 11/11/2011 05:36

I've got to get up for work in about half an hour. [very very sad face]

plupervert · 11/11/2011 06:47

Morning all. Sorry sleep has been elusive. I was wondering about cheeptrick too, bee

Thanks so much for the wine reassurance, msbuggywinkle! Maybe I'll add a mini bottle to my hospital bag, to down on the train in front of the already horrified commuters. Am getting a bit stressed about journey to hospital. With traffic at the wrong time of day, it's over an hour by road, and I can't stand the thought of being in a car in labour anyway. Driving is getting to be a real trial, with baby objecting to the position, DS complaining about this and that, and the same road hazards as normal.

BeeMyBaby · 11/11/2011 06:56

I'm serving an official eviction notice on my larvae. DD was on her way out at this point and this baby is being lazy. I may be only just over 37 weeks but as it turns out I apparently am incredibly inpatient. DH says baby will stay inside for another month now just to teach me a lesson.

mopsytop · 11/11/2011 07:34

Well my foot is not swollen this morning. Will just give my midwife a ring later to check on it, but it's probably nothing. I have turned into SUCH a worrier since pregnant, is ridiculous. Was worrying last night in bed. While at the same time thinking it's nothing, don't worry. Odema is normal in pregnancy. Argh. I am sure midwife will set my mind at ease!!

figgygal · 11/11/2011 08:00

Morning all

36 wks today baby seems to have dropped bump lower easier to get comfy but he still very active so that's good.

Very Envy of you still with your rings on mine had to be boxed up about a month ago. My 1 stretchmark is looking angrier and bigger by the day I think it's lonely and waiting for friends unfortunately. My feet gave grown had to buy a size up in boots and they look fat Sad. I'd love a growth scan to see how big he roughly is already.......god I'm going to have a baby soon.

Maybe we'll hear from cheep today

mopsytop · 11/11/2011 09:05

Well I rang midwife and she said it's probably fine but to go and get my blood pressure checked with midwife later at my GPs. So I am probably totally overreacting but it is still good they check isn't it?

msbuggywinkle · 11/11/2011 09:35

Morning! Real morning now, I ended up waking DP up to help me get back to sleep in the end Wink

mopsy yep, checking is good although as the swelling has gone it is probably just one of those late pregnancy things.

I still have my wedding ring on, but I only seem to swell up after birth and I get pissed off with my ring during birth and fling it. Should probably remember to take it off and put it somewhere safe at the first contraction this time!

DD1's best friend (they have know each other since DD1 was a baby) and her Mum are coming round for the afternoon today, I need to find the floor under the piles of dressing up stuff first though! My children shed clothing, and go through several outfit changes a day!

OiMissus · 11/11/2011 09:37

Morning all, sorry to those of you who can't sleep. I have about 7 pillows at the moment to raise my upper half to about a 25 degree angle. I find that each new "arrangement" works for a couple of nights, then I start rearranging again...
My feet, ankles and lower legs are humungously swollen. ( it's not a real word, but it fits) But my hands are still ok, complete with wedding ring etc.
Wine during labour... The idea sounds ok, but when I had my contractions last week, the pain/pressure made me throw up a few times - so probably not such a pleasant idea. Sad I bought cartons of Ribena for the hospital bag. Rock n Roll!

HoneyLovesCake · 11/11/2011 10:10

Feeling bloody awful this morning; soooo tired & a bit sick with a headache to top it off; just want to sleep the day away but really should get off the sofa & do some work :( Sorry for those with insomnia, I've actually slept really well throughout pregnancy...so why do I feel like I've just run a marathon???

Feeling bad for DP as I always seem to have something to complain about & he looks permanently worried. I've asked him if he's ok & he says he wasn't expecting all the pain & it's quite distressing :( Last night he asked if I was sure I really want to go through all this again. I hope this baby comes soon or he might be completely put off the idea of more kids.

I think Ina May says to have a glass of wine to relax you in early labour but I doubt I could stomach it...alcohol smells vile at the moment.

LittleMissFlustered · 11/11/2011 11:21

Morning ladies. Another sleep freak here. My favourite time to drop off is about five in the morning, which sucks when we needed to be up at half six to be getting ready for school >_<

No swelling here, but I had it with my last one. Am actually looking pregnant these days, instead of just fat though, which fits with previous form.

I'm in town looking for odds and ends for Christmas today. Am doing the pyjamas and slippers today, as I can just about cope with Primark. I may have a waddle up to mothercare or toys r us as well, as I want some more babygros and I don't like any of the ones I can see in town.

Right, off to finish my coffee and marvel at the inconsiderate arses in Starbucks. Out of a practically full shop there were only about eight of us who remembered the date and time at eleven:(

plupervert · 11/11/2011 11:48

Good news about your foot's going down, mopsytop!

LittleMissFlustered, I must admit I wasn't paying attention to the date and time, either. I'll do it now, after I've posted. Thanks.

KateM77 · 11/11/2011 13:13

Hello all

Well, after only 2 hours sleep I've spent a very long morning at the hospital. DD had a check-up with her surgeon. Our appointment was at 10.30, but it was after 11.30 before we went in, by which time we were all feeling very tired and fed-up. He's pretty happy with her on the whole in that the most serious probems haven't arisen, but we have some residual small things to sort still and have now been prescribed some medicine to try her on (cue a 45 min wait at the hospital pharmacy). Fingers crossed that does the trick!

BeeMyBaby · 11/11/2011 13:16

So after very little sleep I got into work this morning and had a good old 20 minute cry in the corner of the office as the bus driver didn't let me off at my stop (then argued with me) so I had to walk that bit further. Its not much of a difference but with hormones and lack of sleep I freaked out and ended up with a few hours of BHs. Needless to say I emailed the bus company to complain. Yes, I may happily choose to walk about 4 miles with the dogs, but if I do not choose to walk an extra 100 metres to my work, I should not be forced to.

My hands are no longer swollen but the skin has been lightly shredded and is red raw from the ring removal last night so I will give up the rings until baby makes its appearance.

BeeMyBaby · 11/11/2011 13:21

Just received an apology from the bus company - I am most pleased.
