Sorry for the new thread and crap name but i needed to start one oi how are you doing good luck xxx

I have fallen off the face of MN for a week or so and have loadsss to catch up on! I have been busy doing coursework and seriously nesting!!

PGP is awful, to the point of making me cry, finally got a pyshio app, but not for another 2 weeks :( doesnt seem much point. OH continues not to even attempt a massage if i ask and rolls his eyes.

Been having really bad shooting pains that take my breath away, but seems as though baby is head down (and very low) im guessing its a nerve he is on.

Very strange and TMI... but earlier (when i went to the toilet) i could feel what felt like the head bulging on the outside, through my lady garden lol... freaked me out!!

Good luck oi !! Fingers crossed

tye glad you took the sick advice!!

Incidently, as of 11.30 today I am more pregnant than I have ever been. Hmm

mopsytop · 11/11/2011 13:29

nice one Bee, you did right to complain. Hate narky bus drivers!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 11/11/2011 13:31

Morning Ladies.

Sorry a few of you are suffering insomnia. I slept pretty well last night although feel very tired right now!

Been and done some more xmas shopping this morning. came home and sorted the buggy out and now just sitting with my feet up until school run time.

DD is staying at mums tonight as DP & I are going upto our local to see a band play that we may have for our wedding.

lalababy · 11/11/2011 14:18

Hey all... well another miserable day at work! Fortunately I can MN here to pass the time away :)

Started doing the baby laundry yesterday...finished the whites and will do the coloured next. Then, I can finally start packing my hospital and baby bags.

Also... the midwife at the hospital mentioned as soon as they leave the room... all the dads are on the gas and air :) She said you can immediately see the difference coz the dads are so panicky and then when the midwives are back in the room... they seem totally chilled out :)

hawthers · 11/11/2011 14:50

I'm knackered! Dh is ill and spent the whole night groaning with every breath - grrr. I was awake every two hours worrying as I'd done some stupid heavy lifting of a freezer drawer and managed to pull a muscle in my bump which made me panic all night and really uncomfortable.

Dh and ds are finally having naps and I've got my feet up having an ilicit second cup of tea. Phew.

On a great note I'm now 34 weeks and all still seems to be on track - only 3 more weeks and i'll be term which I still can't quite believe!

hawthers · 11/11/2011 15:24

And Dh was telling me last night to be prepared for a rubbish mw when I'm attempting a vbac - totally unhelpful and not what I need when I'm trying to be calm and relaxed and I need to trust the mw. Grrr - so annoyed as now I'm feeling nervous about what the mw will be like. Any reassurance from second timers that I('ll get a nice or good mw?

HoneyLovesCake · 11/11/2011 15:25

Very impressed lala I'm 37 wks today & haven't washed any baby things Blush or bought maternity pads or newborn nappies. Oh dear...I'm not doing very well am I? I was sooo organised at the start of the pregnancy but now all I want to do is sleep [zzzzz emoticon]

lalababy · 11/11/2011 15:34

To be fair, honey I did all my shopping online. Nothing like sitting on my fat arse on my couch and shopping with my finger :) You can get all your nappies/maternity pads/cotton/muslins etc etc in one big delivery from any of the supermarkets. And then you can continue with your nap and feel completely satisified that you have been productive :)

Mmmmcheese · 11/11/2011 15:47

hawthers in my experience the mws in the delivery ward are fantastic and if you do get one that you have a personality clash with you can request a diffeent one.

cheeptrick · 11/11/2011 15:47

Hi

Update: no induction, i'm at home and they want to see if i go into labour myself so have a week to see if it happens but seeing MW again at 38 weeks when they will check and make the desision again.

I'm really feed up now Sad

I had scan and baby above the 95th centile and i have been warned about the shoulders getting stuck and all the things they will do to get the baby out, knees to shoulders, pushing down on tummy, hand up me, big cut then hand up me and if that dont work they will give me a csection Sad

I am not a turkey :-p

jomouse · 11/11/2011 15:57

Hi everyone,
37 weeks today and I feel ready to burst...
I wish I had known you guys were online last night. I also had a massive patch of insomnia which was rubbish.
I have my baby shower tomorrow and I hate to say it, and feel very ungrateful but I just can't be arsed with it. I am sure I will enjoy it once it gets going though.
Does it not seem totally unreal that we will all have babies very soon?
Going to visit a dear friend who popped last week. An 11lb boy after induction with NO DRUGS! Apparently it happened too fast for them to give her pain relief. It sounds like a horror show but I bet she will spare me the details for fear of freaking me out too much.
I am a little bit fearful of big babies with a giant for a husband while being 5'1 myself and measured 37cm two weeks ago. Eeek!!

Hope everyone is ok x

HoneyLovesCake · 11/11/2011 16:15

Ooer cheep that all sounds pretty tough...sure I've see Delia do the same on her xmas special :) & I don't like the sound of knees to shoulders as that implies you'll be on your back which makes your pelvis smaller not bigger Confused

I know you're not having a home birth but please read this birthing story for the nicest account of naturally birthing a big baby (11lb 1oz) that I've read. The ending is pretty funny too Grin

lala I've done most of my shopping online but I went shopping on Tuesday to try & get bits I'd forgotten but was Shock by the prices...£15-£25 for a cellular blanket from Mothercare??? Bought 2 JL ones on ebay last night for 7 quid Grin LOVE ebay. I think my tesco shop is going to be pretty big this week though...I'm too tired to search for bargains.

sevensevenseven · 11/11/2011 16:15

Sorry to everyone suffering from insomnia and swelling. I've not had any swelling yet but after 2 months of not getting my feet in anything except flip-flops last time I think I deserve for my boots to still fit.

cheep could you ask to have a c-section as baby is measuring so big and they're already predicting having trouble getting baby out (if that's something you want)? It not hopefully the measurements are wrong, I was told DS was big but it was mostly fluid and he was tiny!

I've discovered that DD seems to engage every time I squat. Does it matter or should I avoid squatting until 37 weeks?!

Xiaoxiong · 11/11/2011 16:58

Well. Wonder of wonders, frabjous joy, callooh callay etc. My mother turned up out of the blue this morning wanting to meet the midwife at her homebirth visit today Shock

I met her at the train and she berated me all 20 minutes of the walk to our flat - move to London, private hospital, go to France, go to the US, how could you do this to us etc. We got home and the MW came up with all the home birth stuff, looked around, raved about how "perfect" our flat is for a home birth which was the first blow to my mother's arguments (that our flat is too small/cold/high up). I made coffee and said "do you mind if before we get started, I think my mother has some questions" and there ensued a 30 minute chat which started as an interrogation and ended up almost as a therapy session!!! I have never heard my mother talk about her births, never heard her open up that way at all, and I honestly think she has been carrying around a lot of very bad memories for nearly 30 years never talking about them to anyone. The midwife took her totally seriously (helps that they are about the same age) and answered every question fully and frankly, and they seemed to get on really well and were smiling and joking by the end.

Then we went through a long questionnaire and basically wrote a birth plan together, my mother asking questions every step of the way (what's syntometrine, what's vit K, etc) which makes me wonder whether in fact when my brother and I were born she didn't have a clear idea what was going on and probably felt very scared and out of control. MW checked blood pressure and we had a listen to the baby's heartbeat, which was the first time my mother has ever heard it (or indeed apparently ever had anything explained to her, that the whooshing is the placenta and the wow-wow-wow is the heartbeat), marvelling at how fast and strong it sounded.

Anyway long story short - total about face!! Shock We met DH for lunch and she told him she was very reassured (but doesn't want to be present - just wants regular text updates). We both just sat there kind of stunned at her change in heart. And then afterwards we went into town and bought some baby clothes at a charity shop - she told me what was useful, cooed over little tiny vests, was basically everything I have been hoping for in the last 9 months. I kind of just wanted to give her a huge hug and weep into her shoulder that she has come through for me right when I needed her (when she never has before!!!) Perhaps this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

I'm really kind of shocked actually and may need a lie-down Grin

HoneyLovesCake · 11/11/2011 17:10

Wow Tyel maybe it's my hormones or maybe just that I have an utterly useless mother & understand exactly what you meant when you wrote she was basically everything I have been hoping for in the last 9 months but I have tears in my eyes. I am just so happy for you & I have to say your mum deserves a hug just for turning up in the first place when she was so strongly opposed to your choice. AMAZING turn around, absolutely AMAZING Grin

DarciesmumandBump2 · 11/11/2011 17:22

Tyel Wow, ahh so good that your mum is on board with it all now Grin

I'm being treated to a meal out at our local Thai restaurant tonight - wonders if the curry will send labour signals Hmm.

Been on my feet alot today (opps) and def can feel baby descending more and slightly crampy - although tonight would be a good night, DD is staying at my parents for the night - we could just get on with it then lol

Mmmmcheese · 11/11/2011 17:32

cheep it is interesting that they warned you about the risks of big babies when it is in 95th centile. My baby is off the charts i.e. 100% + but both the mw and consultant dont seemnbothered by it at all. I wonder if it is because they secretly think shes going to come early but dont want to come out and say it. Did they talk about the option of a c section?

honey i think lying flat on your back does make the pelvis smaller but ifnyou lift your kneesnto your chest it actually ooens the pelvis up. My antenatal teachernsaid that ifnyou have tonlie on your back for whatever reason you should adopt this position asnit gets the sacral bone out of the way. Is that what theynsaid cheep?

tyel so glad your mum has come around! Fantastic news! Gave me a tear in my eye too but then i burst into tears at a pampers ad yesterday.

OiMissus · 11/11/2011 17:42

Amazing tyel - soooo happy for you! Fantastic!!
cheep you are scaring me! I was told that when I measured big at 30 weeks that it made no difference how the birth would be managed . "many people have 11pm babies naturally without a problem" !!!
At my last scan the AC measurement was above the 97th centile. But the AFI was 16.4cm "between the 50th and 95th centile". What does this mean?
I'm expected to deliver naturally. No one has said anything else.

OiMissus · 11/11/2011 17:44

11pm babies!!??? No 11lb babies! Silly correcty thing!

HoneyLovesCake · 11/11/2011 17:57

Mmmmcheese that sounds right if you have to lie on your back...I just couldn't see why you'd have to or want to especially if you're having a big baby. Unless you're planning a full epidural cheep ? Haven't done a great deal of research into instrumental deliveries but can they not use forceps or ventouse if you're on all fours?

sevensevenseven · 11/11/2011 18:06

tyel I'm so pleased that your mum came through for you when you need her, although its quite sad to think that she's been carrying around memories of bad birth experiences for 30 years :(.

It's funny how pregnancy makes people open up, my mum confessed to me in my last pregnancy that her XH forced her to have an abortion before she got pregnant with my sister, and that he wanted my sister aborted too. I'm the only person she's ever told :(

sevensevenseven · 11/11/2011 18:09

Out of interest has anyone given much thought to birth positions? I was on my back last time but only because I was off my face on pethidine, I don't think I'd even have been capable of standing up! I'm hop

mopsytop · 11/11/2011 18:10

Yay Tyel that's great news!

Went to see midwife to have bp taken as when I rang was advised to. High bp, protein in urine, frontal headache and swollen ankle/foot make them suspect pre-enclampsia so have spent afternoon at hospital having tests done. All seems ok though, phew!

sevensevenseven · 11/11/2011 18:11

Posted too soon!

Was going to say I'm hoping by using hypnotherapy I'll manage with just G&A, although I've got no idea about birth positions yet, just that I want to make some use of gravity.
