Sorry for the new thread and crap name but i needed to start one oi how are you doing good luck xxx

I have fallen off the face of MN for a week or so and have loadsss to catch up on! I have been busy doing coursework and seriously nesting!!

PGP is awful, to the point of making me cry, finally got a pyshio app, but not for another 2 weeks :( doesnt seem much point. OH continues not to even attempt a massage if i ask and rolls his eyes.

Been having really bad shooting pains that take my breath away, but seems as though baby is head down (and very low) im guessing its a nerve he is on.

Very strange and TMI... but earlier (when i went to the toilet) i could feel what felt like the head bulging on the outside, through my lady garden lol... freaked me out!!

Good luck oi !! Fingers crossed

tye glad you took the sick advice!!

I have a £10 wipe able mattress for the Moses basket, which is also what we used last time and it was fine.

My freezer is full of runner beans and apple crumbles. I've got a steak and kidney pudding in there already but not sure I'll have room to put any prepared meals in there as they take up too much room. Thankfully DS loves pasta and it only takes 10 minutes. I expect we'll also do lots of meals in the slow cooker, that way DH can throw things in the night before and we just have to turn it on. I just need to make sure the cupboard is stocked with tinned tomatoes and pulses, and will put beef, chicken and sausages in the freezer.

sevensevenseven · 05/11/2011 12:43

Oh no oi! How far are you now? I expect you must be getting so fed up of the false starts, especially as gingerbaby would be fine if he/she decided to come now.

BluebellsintheSpring · 05/11/2011 12:53

Thanks Tyel for the quick etymology update on got/gotten. I find that fascinating and love picking up little bits of info like that!

Oi so annoying you're not yet released - really hope that happens soon. Glad more people seem to be feeling a bit better today. Cheep glad you got some sleep!

I'm currently enjoying wi fi and coffee and catching up on the thread after wonderful pregnancy massage. Feel human again - also bought myself 3 novels in prep for the start of mat leave. 1 more week to go - yeah! House is finally beginning to take shape - so happy to have move behind us.

In terms of cooking ahead - mine will be v similar: stews, curries, chilli etc. Saw a pumpkin stew on Nigel Slater last night which I might well try out. Also might do a lasagne - we'll see. Love the idea of apple crumbles though.

Hope you all have a great weekend and improved sleep continues!

HoneyLovesCake · 05/11/2011 12:54

Oh Oi that's just not fair! :( Do you live far from the hospital? If not then surely it'd be better just to be on bedrest at home than hanging around waiting for a dr & you can come in if things start up again. Don't know much about hospital births but I thought they usually sent you home if it's just early labour anyway Confused or are they being cautious because you're not 37 weeks yet?

plupervert · 05/11/2011 13:01

cheeptrick, I never even thought of packing for DH. How shaming. [shame] Are you feeling any better?

msbuggywinkle, I have been freezing leftovers of what we're eating, so things like spag bol and chicken with spinach & curry. Crumble mix sounds an excellent idea, although mine is not oaty: it is 6oz flour, 4oz butter and 4oz sugar. Why change something so easy to remember?
Totally agree about the post-birth gluttony, though! I am planning a nice, cold Sancerre. I adore cold white wine as long as it's not an oaked Chardonnay, which does horrible things to me (I am constitutionally a wine snob!)

Tyelperion, thanks for the got/gotten thing!

msbuggywinkle · 05/11/2011 13:09

bluebells that stew did look really good, I thought the apples and ice cream looked great too.

plu also a wine snob, I prefer prosecco to champagne as it is drier. Mostly having prosecco because it is sparkling so seems right. I'm with you on not liking oaked Chardonnay, my very favourite wine is Chablis though.

OiMissus · 05/11/2011 13:21

I think it's because I'm 36+1 that they are being so cautious.
The phone is going all the time, and they are telling everyone " have bath, have paracetamol, call back when they are every 3mins, and the peak lasts for 1min".
I can't think about wine at the moment, but am also a bit of a snob there. And if it is champagne, I want Bollinger! Although tried the uk's own Camel Valley Sparkling - and that was even better.

LittleMissFlustered · 05/11/2011 13:34

I'm not a big wine person Shock It tends todisagree with me:( I used to be a vodka girl, but in the last four years or so I have hardly had anything to drink at all. I'm not tee total, but pretty close. Just through lack of desire/inclination:)

OiMissus · 05/11/2011 14:04

" " lmf rolls herself a Camberwell Carrot.
Hee hee hee!

sevensevenseven · 05/11/2011 14:05

Give me a nice Sauvignon blanc any day. I can't stand Chardonnay and fail to see what's so great about champagne. Prosecco for me too!

OiMissus · 05/11/2011 14:12

I drank so much Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that I got bored of it. After 9 months abstinence, I hope to fall in love with it again. Grin

fusam · 05/11/2011 14:35

Just popping back in to say good luck Oi. Don't know if I asked this before but have they said whether it's a big deal if baby comes now?

Thanks all for ideas on freezer food, there are some really good ideas. I will do a big costo shop next week and start bulk cooking.

Question, has anyone seen/bought fur type lining for either moses baskets or prams? Any links?

figgygal · 05/11/2011 14:38

I had a lovely glass of wine last night (though it could have just been delirium as it was just a Gallo Rose) am very much looking forward to a champagne on Xmas day this year. Need to look into this whole drinking if breastfeeding thing to work out how much is too much and how to express it out etc.

Heading to bonfire and fireworks tonight hope it stays dry!!

LittleMissFlustered · 05/11/2011 14:45

Oi

I have run out of the will to do 'stuff'. Unfortunately I'm mid- way through reorganising my living room >_< Do you think having a sofa stuck in the centre of the room can be passed of as an edgy style?:o

KateM77 · 05/11/2011 14:46

Oi Sorry to hear you got stuck there. If only it hadn't been a Saturday, you'd have been long gone! I remember a couple of times in hopital with DD last year when she was discharged on a Sat - we were told first thing we could go home, but each time it was late afternoon before we finally went anywhere due to lack of Dr's around to do final sign-off and prescriptions.

Very jealous of all of you who slept well last night. Once again I didn't. Having a nice quiet weekend at home with DH and DD though and finally managing to get things crossed off the to do list between us.

fusam · 05/11/2011 14:49

What's a camberwell carrot btw? Although I did notes during LMF's codeine synopsis, very educational. If I end up having section, you will find me in the post natal ward with a big grin on my face.

Cheeptrick · 05/11/2011 17:25

GP's came round at 12pm to help clean Gpigs out and then they helped hover and did a bit of washing up, they have just left. We didn't have chance to have lunch before they came so all that i have eaten today is an almond crossiant - i'm staving now so have just put a pizza in Blush

I will be frezzing chilli, curry, veg laga, meatballs in sauce, pasta sauces, beef stew and soups. I'm not a great cook and i just can't get the hang of making sauage cassorole!

I sent DH this morning to do a big shop so we have lots of food in and the food and drink for my labour bag that he will need.

I have found a company that will do an organic mattress for £30 - £40 so i called and left message for them to give me a quoit so hopeful i can say in my budget Smile

I have had a few more pain the worst was at the back of my hips going up to the back of my rib cage but the others have just been my back and lower bump. I have lost alot more gunk and still getting the occaitional stabby pain in cervix.

I just need DH to do some clothes washing and putting away and then i'm calling in the cleaners to do a big clean this week and then we will be ready for baby.

My due date is 5/12 which is a month away Shock but son was two weeks early and this baby is bigger and messuring a week ahead so we think baby could be here in a week or two if not now Shock

DarciesmumandBump2 · 05/11/2011 17:48

Hey Ladies

Oi Good to see your home and hopefully your relaxing.

Cheep good that your pains have stopped.

We've done some Xmas shopping today. Got quite a few bits DD &BIL is finished :-) the rest I can get when on mat leave.

DP is taking DD to fireworks display tonight, I'm staying in to put my elephant feet up! Grin

mopsytop · 05/11/2011 17:54

plu I hate oaked chardonnay too. I also love that Camel Valley sparkling Oi mmmm, and I too overdosed on Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc but I love the gooseberry flavour. I like both champagne AND prosecco ... :)

DarciesmumandBump2 · 05/11/2011 17:55

With regards to Moses Basket Mattress, I've got a PVC wipeable mattress that worked well with DD to sticking to that.

I went into Primark today and got some button down nightshirts, thanks to you ladies pointing me in right directionGrin

DP & hospital bag I'm packing snacks, energy drinks and his IPad. That should be sufficient Smile

Can I ask about nipple cream, who's brought what?

OiMissus · 05/11/2011 17:56

I've now been home for just over an hour. Had a wonderful bath and feel all sparkly clean again. DH went shopping whilst I soaked. And mum ( the absolute star that she is!) has just called around with black peas, potato pie and home made mushy peas, and a Parkin! (all traditional bonfire night food here in Bolton) our little sparkler will be here soon enough, so we're taking it easy tonight!
I like the idea of making extra of everything from now and freezing the excess.

  • Oh a Camberwell carrot was a very fat, 12 rizla paper spliff - it's from Withnail an I, a fab film that was mentioned a few threads ago, with talk iof Uncle Monty.
mopsytop · 05/11/2011 18:00

Yay nice one Oi - enjoy the pie!

plupervert · 05/11/2011 19:02

Yes, Chablis is nice. And Sauvignon Blanc. And Pinot Grigio....

Ahhhh, LittleMIssFlustered, there will be no stoning from my quarter. If you don't like wine, you don't like it. However, if we ever meet, I shall offer you tastes of different things, in case it is the type of wine. My body can't handle oaked Chardonnay, and I can't stand gin, tequila or whiskey, but I really do think it's a chemical disagreement in some of those cases!

Oops, supper ready. Speak to you later!

LittleMissFlustered · 05/11/2011 19:07

Could well be I've not encountered the right grape. You tend not to go play with the stuff after a few years of not liking what you've had thus far:/

DarciesmumandBump2 · 05/11/2011 19:12

I love wine Grin not red mine you. Zinfandel is my fav, it comes from Lidl. Other than that Archers & Lemonade, Cherry Brandy & Coke, shots of apple sourz are all good.

DP has taken DD off the fireworks now, with my neighbour's 17yr old and my mum, i'm putting my feet up and chilaxing for an hr or so.
