28week appt... measuring big... gonna have a whopper!!! Eeeeek

ZhenTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 07/12/2011 17:48

Stretch marks here too, but they are the same ones I had from DD around my belly button that are now reappearing. I creamed so often with her, but she was huge so something had to give!

Oh poo talk, not long and we will be discussing consistency of baby poo Xmas Grin

On the poo front, the raw spinach is doing the job for me and I am regular. I have found a tip though for not making piles worse is to breathe the poo out (breathe in with cheeks puffing out then blow out like you are blowing out candles), the downward pressure is still there, but it is less forced. A bit like breathing the baby down in labour I guess.

Feeling more human again today, after two days of feeling like my brain would explode through my skull and vomiting, but with waves of nausea, chills and still wiped out. Hopefully tomorrow I will be back on form enough to take DD to playgroup, she has been watching a little too much Peppa Pig for my liking!

Sugar80 · 07/12/2011 19:23

Piles, stretch marks, perineal massage and foof balloons..... lalala I'm not listening.....

glowfrog · 07/12/2011 20:07

Tonight I am making myself eat a raw carrot and a handful of vittoria tomatoes - feeling somewhat guilty at the lack of fruit and veg in my diet at the mo - will add some green beans to my ready meal tonight. Not short of chocolate or brioche, though. Grin

deardear · 07/12/2011 20:50

ah poo - had a mahoosive one yesterday that really hurt when it came out and I have been having a bit of blood on the paper. makes me think about the crowning of babys head! ouch!

just had fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce :) got to fill myself up before starving myself from midnight ready for the GTT in the morning.

I am feeling alot better this week than i did last week. must be the 27-29 week blip mentioned above! I have 8 working days left at work and really cant wait. I will still do the pub work in an evening a few nights a week as love that and its only 2 hours.

had a lovely hour on my own up at ponies tonight as well pootling about. was damn cold and had my ski pants on as well as my horse jacket, gloves and trapper hat. must have looked ravishing! I did have some eye candy to look at as the farrier and his mate were there Xmas Grin

OddEyes · 07/12/2011 21:08

Poo - if you have a step for sink or something similar, put underfeet when doing deed. Midwives will recommend you get one or use a pile of books for that first post baby poo. Recommend lots, even hubby uses occasionally!

glowfrog · 07/12/2011 21:46

And I would add that I've been very happy indeed about the fact our house came with a bidet... Smile

Kayano · 07/12/2011 21:56

Nb - dealing with anxiety and depression on your Facebook status and regurgitating old yo mama jokes is not advised.

So many nice people inboxed me I got myself even more upset Sad

Stupid Facebook - I can't stay off the damn thing.

woowa · 07/12/2011 22:44

BAck from hols, 6 nights in awful, uncomfortable beds...SOOOO glad to be back in mine!! Bliss. Also, on the way home baby was wriggling like crazy in the car, and now all my bits and pelvis feel different to the awful swelling of the past 2 months. I'm really hoping baby has got off something and it'll be better from now on. We'll see...

I have read all youve all written since I went away, but v tired and totally baby brinaed and nothingto add to advice! (love the new name Zhen). I had my first cup of raspberry leaf tea this evening as I'm 32 + 1 :) I'm sure it contributed to my easy pushing stage with dd (or it's an old wives tale...). Completely revolting, i'd forgotten that bit!

Right, mut try to catch up on lost sleep.

32 + 1!

Kayano · 07/12/2011 23:00

Where does one buy this 'raspberry leaf tea'? strokes chin

QueenFee · 07/12/2011 23:50

Holland and barrett. You can also get it in tablet form.
I took it for my 1st and not the boys. All flew out at the same rate!

I will be using epo as it softens the cervix, definately worked last 2 times and also taking calcium something or othe supposed to help elastisity of the skin. Well I tore less when i'd used them so I'll do it again.

Xavielli · 08/12/2011 06:51

I drink raspberry leaf tea and use evening primrose as a pessary from 37 weeks. Doubt either of them really do much but it's nice to feel like I'm doing something!

Ds2 had his MMR yesterday and was very brave. Dd's first front top tooth fell out too, little girls look awful gappy! Ds1 looked so cute when he lost his hehe.

Finally used to the idea of a surprise, started getting excited about baby shopping after crimbo

Someone on my postnatal thread just gave birth so everyone is gleefully reminding me I'm up next...
My second-littlest cousin is also giving birth around the same week as me, which is really wierd as last time we met she was five! She's 23 and married now!

When I was last pregnant there was a big box of raspberry leaf tea going round loads of women - it tastes like pondwater so no-one used much! I went into labour 2 days before due date so figure same again will do nicely.

Bloody plaster restorers are fannying around, which means we can't do the rest of the big room that I'll be moving into - was hoping to have it done before Christmas. MrNC is planning on doing it himself now.

I finally have a supply of my pills, so am much less stressed though unsure about attempting to work next week - but it's only one week. Then it's Christmas which I can do easily - have wrapped a bundle of presents, my parents are bringing up the rest of stuff I bought and the farmyard for ds tomorrow, and we're buying the tree tonight.

Had parents evening at ds's nursery last night which was lovely - he's now loving preschool, his behaviour has settled down, they clearly know him well, and apparently he has a 'big speaking part' in the nativity play and has learnt his lines really well! Grin Given that last year he was the child having hysterics throughout and had to be held on my lap, this is great - and nursery get the children to hold up laminated copies of what they are saying to make sure everyone including deaf mummy can understand, too. :)

phlossie · 08/12/2011 11:33

What's epo, Queenfee?

I actually like raspberry leaf tea... Also made a potent massage oil containing Clary Sage which is supposed to bring on strong contractions.

That's so sweet, notcitrus. I went to my DS's Christmas performance on Tuesday morning. It was hilarious. And he's getting an award in assembly on Monday, so I'm going to that too (proud mummy).

I tried something brilliant this morning... I read that babies start responding to light at around 30 weeks. My baby's always very active first thing in the morning and my bump was in the dark under the duvet. So I got a little torch and moved it around where the head is - and baby went mental! There was actually a lump that moved following where I moved the torch! It was amazing - try it! My DCs thought it was hilarious!

glowfrog · 08/12/2011 14:44

phlossie I think I will try the torch thing, that sounds great.

Beanie is moving a lot at the moment. Had midwife appointment today and she thinks Beanie might have shifted her head up again (she was head down at last scan). Wherever she is, I wish she'd stop making me feel like she has one of her feet in my throat!!

babycarmen · 08/12/2011 16:16

I like Raspberry leaf tea too, i drink herbal teas a lot anyway. Bought a big box from holland and barratt the other day and had a small cup last night, i read that youre to drink it from 32 weeks because it takes a few weeks to build up in your body. No idea if it works or not but done the same with DD and hers was a speedy easy labour so who knows Xmas Grin

I have a butt in my ribs just now and its very uncomfortable. She seems to love stretching her legs out my side and puching my hip bones.. ouch baba!

I got a letter through for an antenatal class this morning! Its an infant feeding session and i really want to go but i wont have anyone to watch DD :/ I might phone and see if i can arrange a 1 to 1 session as it says on the letter you can. Im really anxious about being rubbish at breastfeeding again so id like to speak to someone about it.

Taking DD to see Santa on Saturday at Castle Stuart which is quite a drive away but im SO excited, we get to make gingerbread men with Mrs Claus and see santa and his elves in the toy workshop (notice i say WE not SHE) Xmas Grin

Hello everyone, I hope everyone isn't feeling too poo today...poo geddit?? Xmas Grin ....oh poo,its either a famine or a feast with me, some days I've no problem others I'm bunged up terribly, I eat lots of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water but I think its lack of exercise that makes me a bit sluggish, between achy pelvis and aching ribs its difficult to go out (and the weather is awful) I hope this isn't TMI but would you know if you had piles? Are there any symptoms or do you have to check?

I love rapberry leaf tea too and can't wait to have it at 37 weeks, what is Epo QueenFee

Anyone else being kept awake by the baby? Mine is awake for most of the night, I hope his sleeping pattern changes after birth because he really doesn't move a lot during the day but at night its action stations.

Zhen thanks for the London advice, I got a fit to fly note from the doctor so I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks all the facebookers for birthday wishes, it was a great birthday!

Aww Happy Birthday!!

I think.... it is just possible ..... I am enduring a craving...

I need burgers... greasy burgers with cheese and gherkins and salty salty fires and onion rings. I had a go at DP on the texts today cos he was suggesting KFC for tea, and kebabs (he's feeling poo)... and I was berating him as I have GTT tomorrow and iron blood tests. "I want healthy tonight, we'll eat shit on friday".... followed by pangs of ... mmmmmm burgers... which has developed into a specific greasy beef burgers, with dairylea slices, chopped gherkin and tomato sauce in buns... crisp onion rings, crisp fries and lashings of salty and vinegar!

Leaving work in a mo, via tesco... be still my beating heart Xmas Wink

littlemonkeybix · 08/12/2011 17:19

I might even stoop to coleslaw!

hermionejgranger · 08/12/2011 18:44

OK I have some questions...
Raspberry leaf from 32 weeks?

And does perineal massage do any good?

Am I definitely going to be leaking milk in the next couple of weeks and should I get washable or disposable breast pads? I guess you just shove them in your bra, yes?
What do braxton hicks feel like? I've had some weird pains in my tum sort of like period pains and some a bit more "all over" my tum which felt a bit like trapped wind - are they braxton hicks?
Is it terrible that although I'm really bothered about leaving a big pile of my work for someone else to do I'm feeling very much that I cannot be arsed with work any more to the extent that I'm thinking about asking my GP on monday if he can sign me off til christmas?
And as a change from the questions...I am FED UP with feeling all bloody weepy and grumpus when I'm normally a cheery type.

I'd like to share my restless legs with you all as a lovely early Christmas present :)
29+6. And alternating between "WTF have we done", "OMG it's only 10 weeks", "labour is going to HURT" and "squeeeeeeeee I can't wait"!!

phlossie · 08/12/2011 20:26

Monkey - you've set me off. Just made DH go to the shop for burger, buns, skinny chips and salad! I really want gherkins too. And ginger beer.

I'll try and answer your questions, hermione:

Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to make your contractions stronger. You're supposed to have it from 32/34 weeks to build it up in your system ready to go. Problem is, you'd never know what your contractions would be like without it, so nobody knows whether or not it works.

As above with perineal massage. It's all worth a try!

You may not leak milk before baby comes, but you'll definitely leak after! I used disposable pads to start with because reusable ones didn't cut it.

Braxton hicks are a tightening feeling across the bottom of your bump, like everything's gone rigid. It shouldn't hurt, and it should last a few seconds. Not everyone feels them - I didn't first time. What you describe sounds like trapped wind!

No, it's not terrible if you don't give a stuff about work any more! When I worked in an office I couldn't have cared less about work pretty much from the second I found out I was pregnant! Get signed off, it'd be lush. Also - and people told me this but did I listen? Did I feck - this is your LAST CHANCE TO REST! I think wistfully about being able to stay in bed reading after DH goes to work, and pottering about - I now have two active children to look after (and one is sick at the moment).

melliebobs · 08/12/2011 20:41

Aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh eeeeeeeeek just had a 4d scan. Totally amazing!

She looks so much like me. Proper played for the cameras. Smiling, sticking her Tongue out, trying to eat the chord waving. Eeeek I'm buzzing. Was so looking forward to possibly havin a lil boy but my lil girl is going to be the coolest.

Now to decide

phlossie thank you :) i'll give the tea and the massage a go - maybe! i'm not sure the wind is trapped...if you catch my drift (poss tmi!) Xmas Wink

melliebobs that's lovely news!

NotnOtter · 08/12/2011 22:08

little monkeybix - me too - all hcp's were sucking air through their teeth at babies size but when i googled it - femur was average - head a bit above - only abdo looked huge - dreading whopper!!!

OddEyes · 08/12/2011 22:22

NotnOtter, have they offered you a glucose tolerance test? Just a large abdomen is a big indicator for having it checked, if not ask for a test.
