Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babycarmen · 12/11/2011 20:51

Haha it does seem to be one thing after another, I had hyperemesis then when that settled down i got diagnosed with SPD and that settled and i get all this trouble with my gall bladder! But heyho! Bad things come in 3's right? So i should be all good after this Grin
Hope you feel better tomorrow!

deardear - hope you feel better soon too!

Kayano · 12/11/2011 21:03

I have this terrible and unreasonable fear that because there are a few really cute babies in DH family and my two cousins kids are cute... That there has to be a limit and our baby will come out unreasonable ugly!

I keep imagining a baby with mine and DH worst features and it has and overbite, is massively chunky and is the worlds most hairiest child. I sort of picture a mini chewbacca or one of those 'warewolf' children Confused

I dream about ugly kids ARGH!

crosses fingers for a non-chewy child

Am I daft?

Xavielli · 12/11/2011 21:26

Sorry to hear people are feeling pooh (excuse the pun)

Haha kayano! You are being daft but it is completely normal! Not all babies are good looking in the beginning - most of them look like aliens, it doesn't change how you feel about them. Then they go through phases where they change and suddenly look so different. Ds1 took about 3 years to grow into his enormous head, dd went through a chubby phase at around 18 months and looked so much like her dad (big fat Greek man!) that it was just plain disturbing. Ds2 has a ptosis which means his left eye lid is droopy, he also has a very prominent vein over his right eye; objectively he is a bit funny looking but since the day he was born he has been so gorgeous to me and his smile makes me melt everytime (no matter how naughty he is being!) - My point being, even if they don't turn out to be catalogue babies they are all gorgeous!!

deardear · 12/11/2011 21:32

very excited now! I knew it was coming this weekend during x factor as a good friend works for coca cola but just seeing the advert makes christmas all the more magical. cant wait this year.

QueenFee · 12/11/2011 22:11

dear dear - yes my news feed went mad with everyone getting excited!

Kayano - Don't worry, you always think that your baby is the most beautiful one in the world lol. A friend of mine had the most ugly baby which is erm awkward... However she is now an absolutely stunning teen.

Pam - Sorry to say that is exactly how my hips feel with spd. The best thing I have found is rest. Get a referal to the physio for a belt and crutches it really helps. Osteopathy is also great.

Slings - I am the mummy who runs a sling meet. Flintshire Sling meet group on fbook quite happy for anyone to join to ask questions no worries that you are not in the area.

A really good website to check out is www.slingguide.co.uk as it explains the different types.

Most of my new 1st time mums start with a stretchy wrap such as a Moby or Kari me. Victoria sling lady slings are stretchier than some of the brands so won't last quite as long. Ask away any questions it's a personal hobby of mine Grin
Personally I will be using a combination of slings but most likely a woven wrap in the 1st few weeks. Once people have owned a woven they rarely seem to go back to stretchies for newborns.

I am just taking 5 minutes out from looking on ebay for a dressing gown for hospital so I can leave it packed in my bag. Funny I have always had summer babies before and there are some things I need for this one that I didn't for the others.

Double buggies - I have had a 2 year gap and then two 3 year gaps and I have used a double each time. I think it depends on how much you walk. I will only be using my double this time for the school run which I will be doing 3 times a day so a lot of walking for ds2 who will be 2 yrs 8 mths, especially as he will be tired as he will have just started nursery. I think if you wasn't having another baby and you would still use a buggy for dc1 then get a double. Mostly for your own sanity... think 2 yr old tantrum and a screaming hungry baby half a mile from home.

sorry I will shut up now!

Crazybit · 12/11/2011 23:10

Wow, everyone can talk!

Deardear, did you see the free Avant bottle or breastshields for Boots in he same voucher pack as the free changing bag? There was also a free Avent mum to be when you spend over £10 on Avent stuff. Since the breastshields are about £11, I managed to use both at the same time and get both for free Grin Sorry you're feeling so rough.

Kayano, don't worry, most babies come out funny lookingWink but to you, your baby will be the most beautiful thing in the world. :)

PamB Re:pains, I keep getting a stiff painfull part at the bottom right of my back, which stops me waking properly. Usually when I have been sat or laid, not sure if its pelvis pain or what. hopefully you're not getting SPD.

Squiglett-Apparantly pressure from the baby can make you more swollen down there and the increased blood rushing to the area when you where, erm, you know, may have affected it more than usual..Glad Ex is still 'servicing' you Wink when I was pregnant with dd2, ex and done a runner so I had to find other forms of satisfaction!

We haven't sorted a cot out yet, we've got the pram, moses basket, some nb clothes, a bouncer chair, a mobile, loads of nappies and blankets. We've got nowhere to put a cot if we do get one anyway so no point as we're hoping to move in May/June time when our current rented lease runs out. All the stuff we have got has been bought on Ebay or very cheaply on offers. Oh, also got a baby bath support for 99p on Ebay the other day. Grin

Does anyone else have strep B? I had it with dd2 and keep getting conflicting advice about whether I need abs as soon as I go into labour with this one or not. Howver, after being in hosp on tue with suspected leaking waters they took a swab, rang today and it came back clear and also no sign of strep B, so going to argue that i don't need to go straight in for abs this time-it's probably not doable anyway with having no family or close freinds for childcare within a 250 mile radius!

deardear · 13/11/2011 15:48

forgot about the bottle - yes i did get it :)

sat in front of our first real fire of the winter. tired this afternoon so going to go and do the animals and then sleep for an hour on the sofa while the tea finishes. DH has gone back to work today after his shingles episode. have had a busy day - out with a pony this morning at a competition (DD2 came 6th out of 28 and won a £10 voucher :) dropped DD1 at my mums and went and did some shopping, came back washed the itchy dog (no fleas), cooked some leek and potato soup and a cake (!!!) and have just put a joint of pork in for tea.

one day i am going to attempt a day where i do absolutely nothing - i will be bored stiff!

deardear · 13/11/2011 15:50

oh forgot to say - my black lace dress from ASOS came yesterday. It is very very nice and maternity at that! Impressed

Here it is www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-MATERNITY-Katie-Lace-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1768146&cid=14551&sh=0&pge=1&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Teal

Kayano · 13/11/2011 16:20

What are these free things from boots and how do I not have them? Grin

melliebobs · 13/11/2011 17:24

kayano you get sent vouchers for stuff when you sign up to the Boots parenting club. Personally it ain't all it's cracked up to be. When I got my vouchers they i couldnt use them cos the items were part of another promotion or they were for massive industrial sized stuff that i didnt know if id need or use or they didnt have the items that the vouchers were for anyway! And as for the free changing bag that's only of you buy a certain pack of Pampers which i refuse to do. I have Pampers being mass marketed at me as if it's the only brand of disposables or that disposables are the ONLY option when It comes to nappies!

melliebobs · 13/11/2011 17:29

deardear can't view the link Cos I'm on my phone (hence the dodgy English) but ASOS have some lovely maternity stuff. I ordered 2 dresses and could only afford 1 Sad but ummed n arrd over which one to keep for over a week! Ended up with a purple one but I love it!

deardear · 13/11/2011 17:33

kayano i signed up for the boots baby club. they do bags like Bounty, money off vouchers and freebie stuff. some of the vouchers i wont use but as i needed nappies anyhow i got the pampers ones as it had a free changing bag which will be handy. also get extra boots points by being in the baby club. its free to join so anything else is a bonus to me

currently sat watching my stupid collie dog who is mesmerised by the baby toys we have been given. there is a dog toy which barks and she just cant get her head round it lol.

phlossie · 13/11/2011 17:52

Hello you chatty lot! It's just taken me ages to catch up on about 24 hours' worth of posts!

Flapjack - double is a plan if you do loads of walking. It depends on that and what your 2yo is like. I had a Phil&Teds which was amazing - but I had a 19 month age gap and a crap pushchair, so it was a no-brainer. I do have a Lascal buggy board that i don't need and haven't put on ebay yet, so if you want one, pm me and make an offer!

Those of you talking about SPD - it threatened me around this stage with dd (and I'm a bit clunky now), but didn't come to anything. I'd had it with ds, but then his head was engaged at 33 weeks (he was born at 42) so that was probably why!

I've almost fainted a couple of times in the last couple of days. I'm not sure if it's my blood pressure, blood sugar or sheer exhaustion. I really really need to take it easy! Next mw appointment is a week on Tuesday - my first since 16 weeks! Do you 2nd/3rd/4th timers get left to it for the 2nd trimester where you are? I haven't actually heard the heartbeat yet, which is weird.

Squigglet - my libido is very high at the moment, but I don't find full sex very comfortable for the same reasons as you - I'm a bit swollen and tender. We're having to find other ways, which is a good thing! Our sex life was getting about routine anyway (not surprising after 14 years).

phlossie · 13/11/2011 17:52

Ooh - 27 weeks today!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 13/11/2011 18:37

Phlossie, as a second timer, it sounds like I'm being seen more than you! I saw the midwife at 9,16 and 22 weeks and the consultant at 20. And I see the midwife again at 27 and the consultant at 28. It starts getting more often than that - every 4 weeks after that, if I remember rightly.

26+0

Xavielli · 13/11/2011 20:03

4th time here - 10 weeks, 16 weeks, 28 weeks, 34 weeks, 36 weeks, 38 weeks, 40 weeks. Been the same with dc 2 and 3. And just realised that the appointment I've booked for this week clashes with parents evening so it will probably be 2 weeks late now.

Xavielli · 13/11/2011 20:06

That should be 32 weeks not 34.

27+4 and the baby has stolen my brain!

babycarmen · 13/11/2011 20:35

Phlossie I thought i wouldnt get seen as much with it being my second pregnancy because a lot of people have said thats the case but ive been seen the same amount because i have a "high risk" pregnancy so so far 8,10,12 (consultant),16,18,20 (consultant),24, and have mw next week (29), and a scan booked for 32, but theyve let me hear the heartbeat every appointment since my 18 week one. Maybe mention to the mw and see if theyll have a listen?

Ive got to phone up for my blood results tomorrow and i cant remember when time they said :( Damn baby brain! I THINK it was between 11 and 1. Although no doubt they wont be ready yet even though i was told they would be. I will probably forget by tomorrow anyway!

flapjack77 · 13/11/2011 20:52

Phlossie had a look and we'd need a maxi buggy board, is this what you've got? No idea how much they cost new, let alone 2nd hand!

I saw MW on fri, first time I'd heard lo hb too, last app was at 16 wks, next is 34 wks. Getting more real know iykwim!

Sugar80 · 13/11/2011 21:07

I'm a first timer and I haven't seen the midwife since 16 weeks...

Booking apt (MW)
12 week scan (hospital)
12 week blood tests (MW)
16 week check up (MW)
20 week scan (hospital)
25 week check up (MW - tomorrow!)

littlemonkeybix · 13/11/2011 22:30

Mine's the same as yours sugar except I got an extra 20week for glucose tests... Which they couldn't manage to fit on the same day (sarky) so I had 4 hours TWICE faffing about to and fro, friday then monday.

Got 25week appoint (at 24.5weeks) on Weds.

Hope we're all well today... Not too bad here. Just a touch tired... Bed in a mo, night all xx

QueenFee · 13/11/2011 23:47

Only about 5 appointments here too next one is 28 wks.

A good alternative to a buggy board is a strolli rider or a buggy pod.

I still have the boots bag unopened from last time...

I will be getting as many freebie disposibles as poss then will be trying out cloth with my newborn! Only did it with a toddler before bit was pleasantly suprised at how easy it was.

Squiglettsmummy2bx · 14/11/2011 06:58

Phlossie glad to see I'm not the only one with swollen bits Blush considering ex is an ex & I am shaped like homer Simpson my sex life is fab at the moment! Grin
I have a consultant appointment, haven't seen much of anyone really, this is my 4th appointment at almost 27 weeks. Got plg next week & midwife & consultant alternating every 4 weeks now but that's only 2 more appointments as cs will be at 38 weeks Grin it is going sooooo quick. I have vouchers for freebies, must use some today, lol Wink

Xavielli · 14/11/2011 09:42

I am soooooooooooooooooooo hungry!

That is all.

littlemonkeybix · 14/11/2011 10:11
