Fingers crossed for the scan tomorrow kayzr

Welcome and congratulations sillywmamaSmile My first pregnancy was the result of a 'reassurance test' all worked out brilliantly!

How old is your ds? I'm sure things will sink it, the news is very new. Grin

Dalrymps · 11/11/2011 21:58

Sink inHmm

Things are like that here! Dp swings between ok, to moody, to scared. I'm just riding it out because I love babies lol! I'm 9wks this weekend! Its scary, super scary! I thought I'd reluctantly left babyhood behind me.

I know all will work out, so inbetween totally irrational floods of tears and throwing up, I can get excited!

good luck kayzr xxxxxx

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 12/11/2011 08:26

Morning!

Welcome silly!

misslaughalot - sorry to read your news on the other thread.

Good luck kayzr - thinking about you.

Well, another lousy night's sleep for me and I'm increasingly concerned I'm going to fall asleep on my night shift tonight for the charity I volunteer for. Feel really bad actually, as I've had to ask that this is my last night shift until the baby's born and stick with evenings for the next few months as I just don't think I can do the nights, even though it's only one night a month. They've been very kind though and don't have a problem with me changing. Will try for a late afternoon nap and see if that helps. Despite booking yesterday off work to try and catch up on rest in advance, I'm not sure it made any difference! Ah well!

Got a question for anyone that knows - I'm a member of a couple of different pregnancy sites and they seem to calculate age of pregnancy differently. I tend to calculate it based on LMP - which makes me 8 + 4 today. However, some sites seem to go from when I ovulated, plus two weeks as my cycle is longer than 28 days. This would make me 8 + 1 today. Not a huge difference, but was just curious which method would be used when I get to a dating scan, if anyone knows?

Will be back later to see how everyone's weekend is going!

sillywmama · 12/11/2011 08:30

hello Dalrymps and JandtheBeanplusPud :)

most definitely confirmed... DS is 15mo, so I think it will be a 22mo gap by my reckoning. Not unusually small or anything, but I think I feel a bit sad that he won't have my undivided attention for a bit longer. I'm sure I'll get over that though! We're just seeing the beginnings of toddler-dom hitting us... wow those tantrums are something else! lol

I had severe SPD with DS (crutches etc) which is probably part of DH's horrified reaction, it is a bit worrying. I'd hoped to wait until I didn't have a baby I still needed to pick up or change nappies for before risking the possibility of being pg again. Has anyone else had a bit of a rubbish first pg here, and so far been fine?

sending happy good luck wishes to kayzr too, I hope you have good news today xx

Florin · 12/11/2011 09:08

kayzr good luck for scan today, how is bleeding this morning?
goose hope shop opening goes well so wish I was near enough to visit as it sounds fab!

Miniangel · 12/11/2011 09:11

Kayzr I have everything crossed for you. Hope the goes well later today. Hang in there girl. Good luck.

Welcome sillywmama

10000fireflies · 12/11/2011 09:12

Kayzr - keeping my fingers crossed for you this afternoon.

Welcome and congratulations sillywmama.

Cheddar at the dating scan they measure your baby and date it according to size. Hope you get through today ok.

Kayzr · 12/11/2011 09:20

There has been no more blood. I also just threw my breakfast up. Now that could be nerves but fingers crossed its all ok.

readerholic · 12/11/2011 11:08

Morning all.
Estatica, novmamma and callme - thanks for that. Good to hear I'm not the only one. I guess, just have to wait till 'the talk'.

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 12/11/2011 11:57

Good luck today kayzr thinking of you xxxx

Also good luck with the opening green I does sound fabulous :)

silly I have a 16mnth gap between dd and ds, I found first pregnancy harder, only mild spd but still its blooming horrible! Only difficulty 2nd time was doing ds' nappies! Dd is 3 in two weeks and I am SO glad she's fully toilet trained, ds is 4 so he's mr independant now! Dps horror here was down to the 'pregnancy' as I get very nauseaus and sick and tired.

9 weeks now

Kayzr · 12/11/2011 13:47

It's all ok!!! My date has been put back a few days.

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 12/11/2011 14:30

Fab news Kayzr - so pleased for you.

Dalrymps · 12/11/2011 15:02

Brilliant news kayzr so so pleased for youSmile

thedogwalker · 12/11/2011 16:36

That's great news Kayzr. So what's your new date? So glad everything has turned out well. I believe very much in positive thinking.
Silliy, I think we were both on one of ttc threads, glad you've made it over. My DS is 14 months old, and I wonder all the time if I can cope with the pg let alone after the birth, so you're not alone. My DH went away for 6 months last week, so gotta get through alot of this on my own, well physically on my own but with you lot on here obviously.
Got to go LO crying

Kayzr · 12/11/2011 17:02

New due date is the 25th June which makes me 7w5d instead of 8w3d

JjandtheBeanplusPud · 12/11/2011 17:45

kayzr I am sooo pleased Grin

I've been out since one and literally clicked on mumsnet as I walked in the house to check how you'd got one. I get the feeling when I'm scanned ill loose a few days, with ds I gained 4 weeks! But I was pretty oblivious then, he's the best suprise I've ever had though :)

Miniangel · 12/11/2011 17:59

Kayzr what fab news! I am so pleased for you.

itchyfootedlady · 12/11/2011 19:16

kayzr that's great news :)

I had a similar panic on Wednesday but stopped bleeding by Thursday and have been pukey ever since so hope its all ok. My mental day of worry and crying and general patheticness on Thursday turned out to be a cold/flu thing. Much happier now as don't think its mc and I'm always a bit teary when I first get ill, despite the temperature and snot at least the aches and pains are expected.

cheddar the dating thing baffles me... do they give you a date at the 12 week scan?

Dalrymps · 12/11/2011 19:20

itchy I think all babies grow at the same rate during the first 12 weeks. By measuring the baby at 12 weeks they can (supposedly) give you a more accurate idea of your due date.

greengoose · 13/11/2011 06:04

hi all! Thanks so so much for all the well wishes about the shop opening! It went really well, we got through 17 bottles of bubbly (not me though)! and were busy all day. The actual opening was at 12pm, and my Dh stayed there all night on fri, then rest of us there by 7am, and we only just made it! I am completely knackered, (youd think my body would know to sleep, rather than be awake by 5am)Confused From now on it should be easier, I only have 1/5th of the shop, so just work on Mondays (and do the windows etc) to cover my share....and there is a couch!

Kayzr Im so happy it worked out for you!!

Starlight is everything Ok? We are missing you...

All those with small gaps, hats off to you! I will have 5yrs between DS1 and 2 and then almost another 5yrs aging this time.... I does mean Ive spent the whole of my thirties doing this so far, but the gap makes it easy. (Not that it was planned that way, I wanted them close together)

Cheddar, as Fireflies said, they measure the head to bottom size and compare it to the date they calculate from your LMP, but they only use the LMP as not everyone knows when they ovulated. The ovulation calculation is more likely to be accurate, but even then it can vary by a few days depending on when the deed was done and how long until the swimmers found their egg IYSWIM? The date given at the scan will be the one on your notes, and that they go by from then on, although they will check its close enough to LMP estimate, just in case of growth probs. Hope that helps and doesnt confuse further! Hmm

I think I might try and get some more sleep...... yawn!!

Stuntnun · 13/11/2011 07:40

Sorry I'm a bit late to join the party, I couldn't remember my password and the password reminder wasn't working until I realised I had a different e-mail address the last time I was pregnant - six years ago!

I'm aiming for 22 June since my due date is 21 June but DS1 and DS2 both arrived one day after their due dates.

Why do the Red Hot Chili Peppers have to playing here on the 26 June? I'll never make it :-(

somtam · 13/11/2011 08:35

Would like to join your group please. Am due on 26th June based on calculator thing. Have s son who is nearly two. Not got any appointments yet had it appears my local ha is on a major cost cutting drive so you do not see midwife until after first scan. Is anyone taking medication for morning sickness. Had it from 7i weeks with ds and this time from 3.5 weeks. Involves public puking as I get little warning. Also had it for duration last time. Not sure I can cope again this time and I teach so hard to be,subtle. Puked in front of student on wed. But also not keen on taking any kind of medication. On the more positive side I found dealing with a newborn easy as was no luonger feeling sick. ;)
