Warlin

We have been doing the dead quite often and as the scan showed yesterday everything is alright. I guess the decision is yours but I feel very intimate with DH and want to love him.

The midwife almost shoooed me out of her office and said she'll give me the jab after 12 weeks so am waiting. Decision sort of got taken out of my hands. I am just keeping everything crossed that I do not get the flu till I have my jab in 4 weeks.

10000fireflies · 10/11/2011 12:13

Warlin - re doing the deed, is an entirely personal choice, unless your GP or MW tells you specifically not to. I'd err on the side of caution if I were you, bearing in mind the cramping and spotting you've had.

Re flu jab - had mine at approx 5 weeks when registering pregnancy with GP. He'd practically jabbed it in my arm before I'd had time to think about it!! NHS says it's safe at any point in pregnancy: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Flu-jab/Pages/FAQs.aspx

Rrrrayray · 10/11/2011 12:21

Not much doing the deed here not because of thinking into it, bit because sex is bottom of my list when feeling so revolting.

Flu jab safe any stage, and given it could save yours & your babies life ( sorry to be dramatic but my good friend spent last Xmas pregnant and in intensive care) id book in. I had mine weeks ago!! Wink

Feeling like rubbing on empty today. Soooooooo tired!

Florin · 10/11/2011 12:54

It took us ages to strike up courage to do the deed but have started I do get a bit nervous though.
I am trying to have flu jab but doctors being very unhelpful, probably going to just pay for it to be done at boots

Dalrymps · 10/11/2011 13:25

Yeah, meant to say, I also don't feel like sex at all because I just feel too sick most of the time. Hopefully once that passes and I'm reassured by the scan I'll be back in the saddleBlushGrin

Kayzr · 10/11/2011 13:37

I'm not doing the deed but only because DP is at work. Once he's home then we'll probably be doing it quite often. Only 10 days to go and he should be home. Not that I'm counting the days until I can have sex a cuddle. Grin

ceeej · 10/11/2011 13:39

misslaughalot so sorry for your loss, glad you have a good support network and wishing you the best of luck for the future

working your trip to hospital sounds terrifying, I hope the rest of your pregnancy is a little less eventfull. We're not having nuchal, I'm only 27, we've no family history and neither of us would be happy taking the risk with amnio/CVS.

warlin we've been doing the deed but only when I haven't been feeling terrible/already asleep which isn't exactly frequently but when we have it's been pretty intense. I am definitely going to get the flu jab, just need to get my act together and book an appointment.

Also, a huge thanks to whoever it was who recommended the Seabands, mine arrived yesterday and have reduced the nausea down to a manageable background annoyance level where I can actually function and even managed to cook some dinner. Now if anyone could recommend something to stop me needing a 2 hour afternoon nap every day...

itchyfootedlady · 10/11/2011 14:14

ceeej I love my new sea bands. I want to eat again!

having a minor panic today after brown spotting last night and feeling hellish today. I've had cramps throughout but am now sure they are worse/different and I'm so tired I got sent home from work for looking pale and pathetic and crying on dh. flopped on sofa now feeling completely miserable :( probably just getting a cold but have convinced myself its a mc.

readerholic · 10/11/2011 16:10

Hi, I'm due 8th June with DC 2. DS is 15 months so am a bit worried about the whole having two under two thing...
But am very excited.
Am sick as a dog but only been sick twice today which is progress. Am just fed up with the constantly feeling queasy.
Am overseas as well so it's nice to hear from people at home - makes me feel a bit less cut off.
Congratulations to everyone. Sorry - am quite new to this so don't know how to insert myself on the list, if that's the done thing.

thedogwalker · 10/11/2011 17:14

Hi readerholic and welcome. My DS is only 14 months and so I know what you mean by having 2 under 2, but I wanted mine to be close in age, I hope that will make them good friends. If I can cope is another matter Blush.
Warlin No sex here I'm afraid, as DH has gone away for 6 months and he's only been away 10 days Sad not that I'm counting....but we were doing the deed before he went Grin had to get 6 months worth in Grin.
Hope everyone is feeling ok today, take care xx

ecstatica · 10/11/2011 18:18

Hi readerholic and welcome :)

I had 2 under 2 (DS1 was 14 months when his brother was born) and then 3 under 3, it is all a big haze :) but we did it!
It's lovely having them so close together but it most definitely does have its moments.

Can someone pls give me link to these tried and tested wristbands pls. Thank you x

readerholic · 10/11/2011 18:42

Thanks ecstatic and dog walker- I did want them to be close together for just those reasons- I guess it's just the reality hitting of what that will mean in terms of logistics. But right now just thinking of a time where I won't be feeling sick anymore seems a dream! Bring on the sleepless nights, I just can't stand the sickness part!

readerholic · 10/11/2011 18:43

Just realized what everyone else is talking about and hats off to you ladies. I couldn't sum up the energy, even if I could get away without vomming on him!

Novmama · 10/11/2011 19:42

Evening to everyone.
Just wanted to say a big welcome to Fireflies. I'm also 42 and on my 2nd pregnancy. DD is nearly 3. Congratulations after your journey to get here. Some days I feel too old to do this and others I think lots of women our age have DCs. MW at booking appt made no big deal of my age. Will see what scan brings booked for 29th when I'll be 12/2. Not sure how much longer I can hide tummy. Plus still struggling with nausea (not quite as bad as first time round but pretty bad). All food tastes rubbish and am surviving by sucking on boiled sweets.

Someone asked re nuchal test. Yes I'm going for it -at my age think I just have to. Plus I know deep down that I would want to know so could take appropriate action.

So the Christmas season will be challenging/interesting one way or the other!

Twiglet100 · 10/11/2011 21:53

Evening. How are those who have enhanced sense of smell coping? I got a lift into work with a colleague (very kind of her) but her perfume was SO strong. It was a miracle that I a) managed not to be sick and b) resisted the urge to commando-roll out of the car in desparation when we were stuck in traffic. Long days, sleep well everyone and c'mon the weekend :)

Florin · 11/11/2011 08:22

I feel silly moaning about this but I have been feeling really awful tired and sick (although not been sick). Today I have woken up feeling great which is wonderful but now worrying about lack of symptoms, boobs still sore but that is because they are huge! Anyone else had a day with less symptoms?

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 11/11/2011 08:33

Morning all!

Florin - yep, me! I had a really shocking day on Tuesday; so tired and nauseous I didn't know how I was going to get through the week. Then, yesterday and today I've been much less nauseous and the tiredness has been manageable. I'm accepting the gift of a couple of better days! Since I started feeling nauseous 2 DPO, I seem to have been feeling lousy for weeks already so appreciate a couple of days respite to give me hope I can make it through the first trimester with sanity intact!

So, I've got today off work as holiday - decided on Tuesday I had to book it to make a shorter week and give me hope I could survive the week! Didn't sleep well last night, but am sitting watching 'Portland Babies' - I suspect baby programmes may become a guilty pleasure! Much as I'm looking forward to being a mum, I've never really found babies particulalry cute or appealing (assume it's different with your own!) but I was almost welling up seeing one of the newborns on the last programme - maybe there's hope for me yet and I do have a gooey maternal side buried inside somewhere!

Hope everyone has a good day!

CaptainNemo · 11/11/2011 08:39

Florin I have. I felt much better for about 3 days before my scan, was convinced it was all over, especially because I have been having brown spotting on and off since before I even found out I was pg. But have had 2 scans so far, latest one yesterday (9 weeks today) and so far so good.... There are no guarantees but try not to worry too much, symptoms can def come and go, just try to enjoy the parts when you don't feel like death! [easier said than done emoticon] Am sure you'll be feeling dreadful again before you know it Grin

10000fireflies · 11/11/2011 08:50

Hi Novmamma Thank you for the welcome. It's good to know I'm not the oldest on here!! Wink I guess it's a while before I have to start worrying about being mistaken for Granny at the school gates!! Grin Grin

Wishing you all an energy filled, nausea-free day. xx

Dalrymps · 11/11/2011 09:02

Morning ladiesSmile

Florin I have felt significantly less nauseous for the past few days. I'm just trying to enjoy it whilst lasts and not worry too much
