Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Excellent news fish :)

Welcome karma :)

I had my 25 wk GP appt this morning - I was quite impressed with him. He spent about 20-25 mins with me checking over everything. He had the records for my A&E panicky visit a few weeks ago and double checked ankles and hands swelling. Checked my ears for infection just in case due to constantly hearing my pulse in my right ear - all OK happens to some people to do with increased blood flow. Have Gaviscon on prescription. Heard baby's heartbeat for the 2nd time in 3 days :)

He said I should have another appt in 4 weeks. I have a MW appt in 4 wks - do you think he means me to see him as well? I suppose I can always see the MW first and book in with him afterwards.

Boots have to order in my Gaviscon as they don't have any in stock Confused

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/10/2011 16:17

shon - I think there should be a GP appt in between the two MW appts - that's what I have anyway. There are less appts for successive pregnancies though...

I am... very grateful for family and friends today. My mum spent half an hour on the phone with me talking me down from a massive wobble after a near head on collision (some prat overtaking on a blind bend coming towards me) and then coming home to a whole load of nice FB messages from friends touching base. What would we do w/o our support networks?

And fish I want one of those bags too - I've been creating an equivalent of that with pillows recently - so comfy! I miss sleeping on my tummy!

Bah - I need a draft excluder for the bottom of the bathroom door - what would be best to fill it with do you think?

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/10/2011 16:18

PS - for the appt confused I have found my purple pregnancy book (issued by the MW) very helpful - gives a list of all the appts, when they should be, with whom and what will happen.

shonnomanom · 18/10/2011 16:54

Thanks cakes.
We don't have a purple book, here we just have everything in 1 folder. According to that my next appointment is at 34w then 36w then 40w. Prior to the 28w check the appointments have been monthly and always with mw. We only see the gp if we can't wait until the mw comes to the to surgery on a Wednesday.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 18/10/2011 17:01

wow - didn't realise protocol varied so much between counties (that must be what it is, right?) I would have thought it would be standardised across the Uk. Go figure.

Nanny01 · 18/10/2011 17:08

I had my 28 week antenatal with my community midwife. I saw her at the hospital no waiting as she fitted me in at work. I was in one of those home birth rooms which was really nice dd2 came 2 and asked so many questions. I think my dd'd will hopefully well informed by the time they have their babies. It's amazing what they ask! All was good my bp behaved and my urine was clear to. I get my next appointment with her at 34 weeks double appointment to discuss what we want for the birth. Also I have my GT test next week with a huge list of stuff I have to eat, bla! and a 36 week scan to check babys size and presentation ( another peak at baby) still really excited about our 4d scan on Saturday and the nct sale too.

shonnomanom · 18/10/2011 17:43

According to my notes first timers have s minimum of 10 mw appointments whereas 2nd+ pregnancies have a minimum of 7. I'm scheduled for 9 all in. cant grumble too much. No more scheduled bloodshed or scans here either.
Time is really ticking by isn't it! Doesn't help that the shops are getting ready for Christmas. Normally that would get me excited. Instead I was comparing the price of decorations to a pack of nappies!

shonnomanom · 18/10/2011 17:44

Congrats on a goof check up nanny x

Oeisha · 18/10/2011 18:08

nanny Glad dd is ok. Congrats on getting through another checkup. It's all a

shonno I originally read you 1444 post as "Spending today preparing for tommorrows big PANT off"...hehehe. Bless my weird mind for that.

fish YAY! No diabeties. Grin

cakes Confused Not good. Bloody idiot drivers, but yay for mum!

Got my 28wk appointment next week. Must write a list of questions to ask.

Today was exactly as I thought it'd be Ah well. According to the rotas I'm due a whole 3 hours of getting shit done tomorrow...THREE HOURS! Grin Wanna bet it doesn't happen?

ParsleyLion1 · 18/10/2011 18:09

Sounds good nanny01 Smile

cakes it definitely varies by county. My MW told me that last time. My pg notes are in a pink book but I'm assuming the purple book is the NHS pregnancy guide one that theMW gave it in the first appt. I didn't think to check that one.

I think the additional confusion will also be that some of us are on different care regimes depending on the risk. I think low risk have MW only, then GP / MW, then consultant / GP / MW. So we're probably all on different schedules anyway ...

trubble · 18/10/2011 18:11

arghhhhhhh bloody lectrics at home. Came back to find they'd tripped over the course of the day. They did the same thing in the middle of the night as well. Now I can understand when it trips and I've got loads of things on - but we weren't even in.
Looks like that's another thing to get sorted - unf our friendly electrician is a little busy atm so we'll have to get a man in.

Oeisha · 18/10/2011 18:25

no idea where I was going with that sentance btw nanny

ParsleyLion1 · 18/10/2011 19:44

What a pain in the bum trubble. Hope you can get someone in soon.

ParsleyLion1 · 18/10/2011 19:50

Wedding dress arrived today. Had it delivered to work and I was so paranoid I'd leave it on the train. They must have thought I was a bit odd clutching my cardboard box Grin

Looks nice. It's a bit big on the top but I think I'll have to pin it. All the dresses come in 2 sizes. I'm a 16 but the dress is 16-18. The next size down is 12-14 but it's only about an inch too big so I think that will be too small.

I could order the size down and send it back again I suppose.

To the ladies who have been pregnant before- will my boobs grow more over the next month? Or are they likely to be done for now? Blush

Mum2be79 · 18/10/2011 19:54

I'm a first timer and my appointments are as followed:
Booking in appointment
12 week scan
16 week
20 week (with scan)
25 week
28 week
31 week
34 week
36 week
38 week
40 week
41 week (if no baby)

I haven't heard about antenatal classes yet but MW said I would get a letter in the post. She seems to think I've missed out on the next cohort so may make the one after.

I'm 29 weeks and 2 days, so when am I looking at starting NHS ones? The NCT ones are too far to travel (on for too long in the evenings, being a teacher and all that - planning etc, etc) and too expensive for us.

My booklet is green and the purple book is the NHS guide to Pregnancy. As a 1st timer, I've found it useful.

ParsleyLion1 · 18/10/2011 20:03

Are those all with the MW mum2be ?

I haven't had my ante natal classes through yet either. I must remember to ask MW.

Nanny01 · 18/10/2011 20:22

I wish there were classes for mums 5th time round as don't know any one else in my situation. Will have to decide wether we are letting the kids sleep through labour or shipping them out and go through the different scenarios that might happen. I would worry if I needed a c-section in terms of care though I suspect dh's work would be ok about some more compassionate leave as he does double the hours that he should.

addictediam · 18/10/2011 21:09

Parsley my noonday didn't grow last time (from 20 weeks) until i had dd, but my back size did. But my friends boobs didnt stop growing and didn't grow any more after 39 weeks. This pg malarky is all different for everyone!

shonnomanom · 18/10/2011 21:19

According to my phone app I'm 29+3 today. My nhs antenatal classes are from 21oct-28nov 2-4pm. But I'm not going.

as far as boobs go everybody and every pregnancy is different. First time round I done all my growing in the first tri. This time I'm doing my growing now. Much to dps delight, he thought we missing out on the pregnancy boobs this time.

Parsley - do you know of a good dress maker who could adjust your dress for you?
Trubble - hope you get your electric problems sorted soon.

The purple book I was given at my booking appointment was all about encouraging breastfeeding. Things will differ from healthboard to healthboard, especially between England and Scotland.

ParsleyLion1 · 18/10/2011 21:41

Thanks all. I did some growing in the first trimester but that's it so far. I should be fairly ok to adjust it myself. I'm reasonably handy, I just didn't want to if I was likely to have a sudden growth spurt. Wink

I've ordered a proper sized strapless bra which might pad me out a bit so I'll try that first.

addictediam · 18/10/2011 22:03

I wouldn't alter it until 1-2 weeks before the wedding, that way you can be almost sure you wont grow anymore.

Oeisha · 18/10/2011 22:22

For anyone that's interested in the purple book, HERE'S a link to the sections in pdf

Oeisha · 18/10/2011 22:23

and the ante natal care pdf link

ParsleyLion1 · 19/10/2011 06:31

Thanks all. I should have just checked the purple book. It clearly says 28 wks is MW or GP not MW and GP.

MakesCakesWhenStressed · 19/10/2011 07:08

Yup - that's the chart I meant! Didn't realise it was all online - how handy!
