Betwee 8 and 12 weeks to go...and we're giving it all we've got!

KateM77 · 26/10/2011 20:29

Hello all. Haven't had chance to post for a while, but have been keeping up with you all. Tyel and Cheep I'm really pleased to hear babies are co-operating and staying put for now. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Highs:
I finished work today Grin I'm officially on holiday for the next 3.5 weeks and then mat leave starts at 37 weeks
We moved out of our London flat this afternoon
I am now a SAHM and will just spend all my time at home in the country rather than splitting my time between here and London
I now get to spend lots of time with just DD before DC2 arrives

Lows:
Awkward handover of keys to landlady due to an ongoing dispute
Knackered after all the packing up and cleaning over the last few days (although DH did the vast majority of it)
Feel like I have loads to do: washing newborn clothes, packing hopital bag, decorating a bedroom for DD and moving her from the nursery, getting ready for Christmas
FIL arriving tomorrow for a week, and then BIL and neice coming Fri for a couple of nights = lots of getting bedding and towels ready and then washing them afterwards

Still, the highs far outweigh the lows and I can't complain.

34 week MW appointment tomorrow. Want to find out which way round baby is, and need MW to remind me what to do if labour happens normally e.g. when to call hospital, when to go into hospital etc. Living in hope that things go better this time around :)

BluebellsintheSpring · 26/10/2011 21:03

2nd Interview done and just glad it's over with - don't know how it's gone but don't really mind! Now I can concentrate on packing for house move next week. Can't wait to just get settled in new place and look forward to baby's arrival.

Glad all babies staying put for the mo. Cheaptrick hope you are feeling better soon. Tyel your mum must be superwoman - doesn't sound the most supportive for you though at the moment! Yeah Kate for finishing work - can't wait until that moment! 2 more weeks and I'll be counting down the days (despite panicking a little about how much needs done before handover)!

Hope everyone has a good night's rest and feels a little less achy in the morn.

OiMissus · 26/10/2011 21:52

Am knackered tonight. A full day at work, followed by 2.5hrs shopping was enough to finish me off!
But was successful in getting D sis's present. Also bought GingerBaby a snowsuit, another dreampod/sleeping bag thing, and a bath thing, a cuddledry towel, Grin and got myself some lansinoh and some breast pads.
Hospital bag is looking healthier!
DH cooked dinner and gave me a foot massage Grin. Legs are fat swollen sausages. Everything else is itchy.
Have a good night everyone, sleep well.

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 08:02

Morning all, Congratulations on the house move kate, and the new SAHM status. so [henvy]. I ought to be right there with you, I've won the euromillions now for 3 weeks out of 4 - £2.60, £3, £2.40 - but it isn't quite enough to help me retire to the country and fulfill my dreams of donkeys and guard geese. here's hoping.
Well done with the second interview bluebells, I hope that you are successful. And best of luck with your house move.
The people buying ours have gone very quiet. They haven't passed their solicitor's details to the estate agent yet... I hope it doesn't fall through. I don't mind them delaying at all, I'm comfy in my house and in no rush to get out now that I know we'll be going into rented accomodation, but I really don't want the sale to fall through!
As for falling through ([hshock]), I'm afraid I think I have succumbed to the piles. DH couldn't help but chortle when I told him this morning. Life is indeed cruel to us girlies! My dignity may be shot to pieces, but I still have my sense of humour and can laugh about it all. [hgrin]
35 weeks tomorrow. Not long now.
Have a great day everyone. And squeeze. (Although I have given up, and so has my pelvic floor.)

figgygal · 27/10/2011 08:57

I ordered this dress and it arrived yesterday i love it just wanted to show it off as i think it is the only full price maternity item i have bought, also got a nursing dress for £10 reduced from £39 love a bargain.

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+stripe-dress-in-maternity-dresses+B4099
Oi i am right there with you on the pelvic floors cant find mine anymore!!

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 09:12

That is a very beautiful dress figgy. Love it.
All the stuff I bought from Dorothy P's last week is going back. Thought those prices were too good to be true. :(

LittleMissFlustered · 27/10/2011 09:20

Morning all. I can squeeze my pelvic floor easily as its in a ziploc bag in my maternity bag[hgrin]

I feel rough today, have a headache. Apparently my body disapproves of me going to the comedy gig and laughing all night[hgrin]

My house is full of workmen again. Not feeling as anxious as I did yesterday, but I'll still feel better when they're fiinished and gone. I dislike having mental health issues[hsad] They should be done today though, leaving heat and shiny radiators behind. I choose to ignore the fact they will leave messy walls and a need to decorate too >_

HoneyLovesCake · 27/10/2011 09:21

Morning ladies! Congrats on the moves Kate & Bluebells I am very impressed with you all moving/selling houses at a time when I'm getting so stressed over a bit of decorating! Oi I was wondering how your house sale was going; crossing my fingers for you but I'm sure it'll all be back on track soon....you've had enough bad luck I think!

Had a very funny conversation with DP last night. He is self-employed, a roofer, & recently lost quite a bit of money due to a non-paying customer...not so much that we can't survive but things are a bit tighter than they should be. Because of this & because he always takes 2 weeks off work for xmas he has told me that if the baby is born in December he probably can't take more than a couple of days off but if the baby is born mid-November he could manage a week. I've heard really good things about accupressure helping start labour so I asked him if he thought I should go see someone at 38 weeks to try to get things going. His face was a picture [hgrin] he went very quiet, very pale & eventually whispered but that's only 3 weeks away I was literally doubled over laughing [hgrin] he's usually so cocksure but the thought of LO coming in just 3 weeks scared him stiff. I told him I could wait for his answer closer to the time; see how much we've got done in the house etc & it probably wouldn't work anyway as the little squatter seems very comfy in my bump but he looked very tense for the rest of the night [hhmm]

msbuggywinkle · 27/10/2011 09:42

Morning! DD2 is vomiting and is only just munching some toast (she usually eats loads for breakfast) so we're stuck in the house again.

DP had the full hormonal fury this morning, he set his alarm a full hour earlier that needed, and it woke DD2 up and she was tired. I ranted for half an hour!

All the house moving! Great that most of you are finding it is going smoothly, oi hope your buyers get their act together soon.

I'm 33 weeks tomorrow, it still feels like ages away though. Am relatively organised though, just need new pjs for me and I'm waiting for the last cloth nappies to be delivered. Feel very chilled about the birth, I'm expecting her to be bigger than the previous tiny two.

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 09:47

Aw honey that's really sweet. We're really lucky that we've all got each other to chat to daily about what's happening to us, our DP's don't really get that luxury. Obviously, talking about it doesn't mean that we're actually ready for it, but I bet we're more mentally prepared than our DPs.
I just keep asking if I can have the baby yet. And DH always says I have to wait a bit longer. He's so unfair. I'll have to look up the accupressure idea. :)

KateM77 · 27/10/2011 10:24

Thanks for the messages everyone. House move was pretty easy really, just leaving the flat. It was last pg that was a bit trickier - we moved into the house 2 weeks before DD was born (she came 3 weeks early, and we'd thought we'd have a little more time!).

Loving that dress figgy

Funny conversation with DP Honey looks like reality of imminent new arrival is starting to hit him!

HoneyLovesCake · 27/10/2011 10:27

Not done lots of research on it Oi (unusual for me [hwink]) but in chats on MN when people are talking about induction methods it seems to always come up with a positive result. Worth a try I suppose, another 3 weeks sounds fine to me(& my ribs)...I'm very pro letting baby stay put 'til they're ready but the thought of DP not taking at least a week off to be with me & LO makes me [hsad]. Plus picking my birthing time appeals to my hyper-controlling OCD side. [hgrin] Also, MW says that if I've inherited my pelvis from my father's side off the family (Caribbean) then baby won't engage until I go into labour [hshock] & my lungs are already feeling very squished.

My BF got her wedding photos back so I've just added a pic of me at 23 weeks...can't believe I thought I was huge then! Also added a pic of the wedding cupcakes I made...never again but I am very proud of how they turned out :)

mopsytop · 27/10/2011 10:35

Cupcakes look amazing Honey as do you!
Can't believe all you ladies moving house. I think I would combust with the stress! I haven't even fixed the baby's room or packed a maternity bag or bought a cot or anything.

Cheeptrickortreat · 27/10/2011 11:01

Hi everyone

Hope you all have a good day today Smile

I had breakfast and then throw it up again, i feel like i'm about to come on a period which clearly i can't, so i'm a bit worried that i will go into labour soon.
I have hospatial bag and notes ready by the door.

We are still ill - esp DH who just looks so ill and tired Sad. We are all snuggled up on the sofa in a duvet watching wallice and gromit DVD again.
Son is playing up/being naughty and i feel mean but i'm sending him to nursary as he seems to want to run round and play and he has stoped coughing and being sick so hopefully he will be fine and DH and i can get some more sleep and rest.

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 11:19

Lovely photo and lovely cupcakes honey!
Oh cheep, fingers crossed that you can hold out a while longer yet. Sorry you're all poorly.

mopsytop · 27/10/2011 12:01

Oh no cheep hope you're okay and baba stays put a while longer!

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 27/10/2011 12:20

Afternoon all!
Fingers crossed LO stays put cheep, hope everyone in your house feels better soon.

Welcome to the SAHM club Kate, you picked a decent time to join...channel 4 are showing new episodes of Come Dine With Me finally Grin

DH is now giving nightly foot massages without prompting! How do I get them to continue out after the birth??

For those who have used cloth nappies before, I've bought 24 birth-to-potty ones..is that realistic or should I have a few more?

HoneyLovesCake · 27/10/2011 13:08

Glad you've got your feet up cheep make sure that DH takes care of DS when he gets back from nursery; he may be very ill but you need LO to stay put a while longer so no running around after anyone!

Out of interest; is anyone planning on doing anything with their placenta? I had always planned on encapsulating mine but not sure I can be bothered now. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks mopsy & Oi, I was looking & feeling pretty rough that day but after being caked in make up at beauty salon everyone was convinced I had a pregnancy glow LOL.

msbuggywinkle · 27/10/2011 13:32

AHWCH Yes, 24 should be a fine amount, probably washing every other day. Only thing is that birth to potty nappies might not fit your newborn, no cloth nappies fit mine as newborns (5lb preemie DD1 and 6lb3 at term DD2!) so I use the cheap and cheerful muslins to fill the gap...might work for you?

Cheep hope you all get better really quickly. Do nothing!

honey no experience of encapsulating, but my friend ate two pieces of hers and her lochia stopped within 6hrs of the birth. At our community allotment there is a gang of about ten trees that all have placentas under them, DD1 has a pear tree, DD2 a cherry, I'm thinking of a damson for DD3. I quite like that they are all together!

figgygal · 27/10/2011 13:34

Ladies when are you starting your ML if you havent already due to illness?
I was planning on finishing on Thursday 24th November and then taking 11 days leave up to Friday 09th December which is my due date and mat leave starting officially on 12th. I would then have 5 days leave to carry over into next year and use before i go back to work now am worrying if baby comes early i will have to carry much more over and maybe i could pull my start date forward a week so am on mat leave from 05th December but dont want to have then been off work for 5 weeks by the time they would induce me if he refuses to come out. I know technically it is too late to change but i know work would be flexible if i said i needed to. I just dont think i am going to be late but maybe that is wishful thinking.

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 13:41

I took advantage of the money off vouchers for nappies, so I think I've got about 180 newborn nappies! But they are just to start off with whilst I check out the different real samples that I have. I am convinced I will love the bamboozle stretchies, but will hold off ordering them until I've tested them. I plan on getting the two sizes. 24 sounds like plenty. I think I was advised to get 16 so that you can wash every other day - but I think that is also relying on using a tumble dryer a little... which I won't bother with. (Bamboo take a while longer to dry than cotton, but are soooo much softer and gentler.)

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 13:46

I finish exactly 2 wks before my due date. Even if I am late and go over, I don't care anymore, I'm ready for this break! I'm taking 18 weeks, and then adding 3 weeks holiday to the end.
3 weeks and 1 day till mat leave, and counting. Roll on 18th November!
19th November is our first wedding anniversary so I will be on cloud 9! [hgrin]

HoneyLovesCake · 27/10/2011 14:24

msbuggy that sounds very appealing...it completely stopped? Doesn't lochia go on for weeks usually? Think I'll definitely have a bit in a smoothie & maybe see how I feel about the encapsulating part on the day, capsules are very cheap on ebay so it won't hurt to buy them even if I can't be bothered to go through with it I suppose.

OiMissus · 27/10/2011 14:57

So did your friend have a mass bleed out for 6 hours msbuggy? Surely the lochia is your body getting rid of the stuff it no longer needs, and your uterus healing - and that just must take time. ??? Can eating placenta really super-heal and super-seal you?
I'll stick with the maternity pads. :)
