Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
OiMissus · 25/10/2011 17:08

Hmmm Mmmmcheese, I'm probably too trusting - certainly am based on your experiences - I have none - we'll have to balance each other out.

Highs:
Stayed at home today and did bugger all work, whilst maintaining the semblance of being here.
Washed loads and put away all baby clothes and paraphernalia in the Tall Boy. [hgrin]
1/3 packed a hospital bag
Completed 95% of solicitors forms, and collected supporting docs for the house sale.
Managed to tidy the house too - a bit.
Parentcraft class tonight.

Lows:
None so far. [hgrin]

OiMissus · 25/10/2011 17:13

Sounds like everything is working out nicely tyel, and congratulations on your successful shopping trip!
Am a bit [henvy] that your DH plays the ukelele. Having erad your post, I really think mine ought to also, he and I shall have words. [hgrin]

Mmmmcheese · 25/10/2011 17:29

tye glad you aren't going back to work. I used to be a city lawyer and was worried for you as I know how stressful it can be!

Getting lots of headaches at the moment but probably just because am watching so much tv while on bedrest!

hawthers · 25/10/2011 17:36

tyel don't go back - they'll just have to suck it up. your health is so much more important. they'll get over it in about 15 mins and what can they really say about it - you are going early on medical advice and that is that (good luck though). when i had to go suddenly early last time my employers (v large accountancy firm) were absolutely fine with it and very understanding so hopefully they'll surprise you.

Xiaoxiong · 25/10/2011 17:42

Oi DH is now amazing at the ukelele having messed about a bit on one my brother got my dad for christmas. He went out and bought his own on impulse a few months ago, and now can play nearly any song I ask for, never having picked up a string instrument in his life. He's so musical it makes me sick with jealousy! He's alternating between "puff the magic dragon" and barry manilow "can't smile without you" right now.

mmmcheese so happy you understand - and the stress is getting to me in ways that 6 months ago would have made me laugh mockingly - last week I had to review some documents on a very tight deadline for a due diligence, and in the middle of it another client called me needing something done now now now and juggling the two sent me into a meltdown! It was kind of scaring me that I seemed to have lost all ability to cope. But I'm sure you also understand that having probably about 50 billable hours still open on my timesheet, the end of the month coming up on Monday, a number of matters to hand over to others and an office to pack up (and my birthing ball to bring home!) - all this makes it difficult to just drop everything and not go back to work at all. And there's a leaving lunch for me next Friday with my old trainee intake and some people were coming back from secondment just for that - they were going to book it for last week but I airily said "no way, just have it on my last day, of course I'll still be working" [hblush]

That brings back bad memories! I have to say I am so glad I'm not practising any longer! I found that even in my current, relatively non-stressful job, I was getting stressed about the most simple of thing when I've been pregnant. Weird to think though that I won't be going back to work until 2013!

Cheeptrickortreat · 25/10/2011 19:03

Hi
I have spent most of today in hospital as i thought my waters had gone. Doctor checked me out and said no but MW said that it could have been a leek and to keep an eye on it and sent me home, after telling me that the baby'd head is fully engaged.

So i'm just waiting for my waters to gush or for contractions to start now Hmm

I have MW appointment tomoro so hopefully the baby might have disenaged by then.

Not feeling very good at the moment and now its started thundering Sad

Mmmmcheese · 25/10/2011 19:06

Sorry to hear that cheep, how many weeks are you? I was engaged 3 weeks ago for 48 hrs but the baby came "up" again. Apparently it is fairly common with second + pregnancies for baby to get engaged and then out again a few times. Hope you're doing ok and can find something to take your mind off it.

mopsytop · 25/10/2011 19:16

hi everyone, busy day! I am feeling really stressed about this bit of my PhD I am working on, it's really hard work and I can't get it done. Finding myself seriously intellectually challenged :( Need to stop stressing, not good for baby.

Cheeptrickortreat · 25/10/2011 19:17

I'm 34 weeks pg - the MW said if she does come now then it will not be too much of a problem Sad

I still want her to stay put for a few more weeks but i have a feeling she will come early.

I'm just not happy right now, in fact i feel like crying Sad

mopsytop · 25/10/2011 19:20

Oh no Cheeptrick I hope it's all okay. Go ahead and have a cry, it will surely make you feel a bit better?

Cheeptrickortreat · 25/10/2011 19:36

I'm just going to make tea and go to bed early i think

Mmmmcheese · 25/10/2011 19:47

cheep my goal is to get to 34 weeks as my consultant says risks to the baby is really low at that stage. But obviously if you can go a bit longer that would be a bonus.

Agre that you should go ahead and cry, will make you feel better! Got any chocolate? Or even better chocolate ice cream?!

Cheeptrickortreat · 25/10/2011 19:54

Thanks Mmmmcheese Smile

I have sent DH out for Macd's cheese burger and McFlurry Blush

I think it has brought home to us how close things are and how unprepered we are right now - next week we will have everything we need but right now we dont Sad

We have all the basics - car seat, cot, clothes, nappies and bedding.

Just waiting to get the mosses basket and carry cot/pushchair.

I just dont feel ready Sad

aethelfleda · 25/10/2011 19:57

(((((hug))))) for cheeptrick and hope you manage to get some sleep.

mmmmmmmcheese, the scanty white cells in your swab are a simple contaminant and nowt to worry about (scanty means really not very many).

And glucose in the wee occasionally in small amounts is very common in later pregnancy: if its there on repeat testing then a glucose GTT test is a sensible thing, but if you eat a mars bar or high-sugar cereal before you do the sample a bit of glucose often gets into the urine. Very high amounts of glucose or persistent glucose in urine does need checking out, but i suspect the midwife was checking with her colleague cos the amount you had was small and she didnt want to overreact for you. If in doubt ring your practice nurse and ask them to re-dip a repeat sample.

Am 31 weeks today. The end is in sight.. (and it's pate flavoured!)

Mmmmcheese · 25/10/2011 20:11

Thanks aethel I was hoping you would be around to tell me what it meant!

plupervert · 25/10/2011 20:13

Hi, all.

So sorry alarming things are happening to people. I shall keep my fingers crossed for babies to stay put, heads to stay out of the pelvis (where they really don't belong yet - that's just pushiness), brains to stay in gear and hospital bags to pack themselves à la Mary Poppins/Harry Potter.

The loo block was indeed cleared today, thanks for asking, Tyelperion! It ended up being the more expensive treatment, but appears to have worked, and it was actually quite fun to see all the vile stuff being blasted out the other end of the pipe - like a massive enema! No way can childbirth be anything near as disgusting as that, so the only way is up, from now! (A bit of D:REAM for the i-pod labour mixes, perhaps?)

LittleMissFlustered · 25/10/2011 20:23

Hope relaxation and positive thinking does the trick cheep If it does to to early labour you have the basics covered and the rest can hang:)

Right. I've just got in from being drenched by a random storm, so I'm getting changed, ordering pizza and relaxing for an hour or do before finishing my room.

Hope everyone has a relaxing evening:)

Cheeptrickortreat · 25/10/2011 20:31

Strange we have just had a random storm with harvy rain and thunder and lighting - strange weather we are having right now Confused

DH panicing about going to work tomoro and leaving me and Air at home with out transport - i dont drive just him. So i have to get the bus to the midwife appointment tomoro. Air is still ill and not acting himself and i still have a sore throt from hell but at least my voice is back.

MacD's here so yay junk food and sleep Smile

Have a good night everyone Smile

sevensevenseven · 25/10/2011 21:01

Hope baby stays put a bit longer cheeptrick, if you went into labour now they'd probably manage to stall it for a few days whilst giving you steroids. Enjoy your maccyd and early night.

mmmcheese I didn't know it was common for second babies to engage and come out again at random. That explains why the pressure seems to come and go then.

Thundering and lightening here too, hope DS stays asleep all night. Busy day tomorrow of physio and MW.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/10/2011 21:23

The thunder wandered off for a bit, then came back for a last arsey roar and has buggered off for good. Proper Yorkshire weatherGrin

kri5ty · 25/10/2011 21:36

tye i havent read all the posts so i dont know if you have mentioned this... but will your doc sign you off for 2 weeks? And then you start your mat leave? That way you get 2 weeks extra on the other side of birth? As work can only force you to take your mat leave at 36 weeks?? x

kri5ty · 25/10/2011 21:38

And fingers crossed cheep!!

plupervert · 25/10/2011 22:16

Have just finished watching Downton Abbey and sewing up some fleece curtains for the winter/blackout.

Sleep well, all - that includes you babies! ... unless you need to reassure a nervous mummy that you are all right.

Smile

But definitely no being born tonight! Nor tomorrow.

LittleMissFlustered · 26/10/2011 06:38

Well, the parasite spent the night cartwheeling so it obviously wasn't listening plu >_<

Up with the cats this morning trying to find the energy to finish off clearing the utility room.

Hope the day goes well for you all:)
