This is a follow on from this March 2012 thread btw.

And here's the March 2012 stats thread - please add your details if you haven't already!

Thanks Flip, love the name!

I can't remember which March thread it was on, but someone suggested adding our gender guesses to the stats thread, which I thought was a nice idea Grin

FlipFantasia · 27/09/2011 11:15

Oooh like that idea NFC Grin. We're having a surprise (again!) but still thinking I'm carrying a boy as this pregnancy is so similar to the one with DS...

My bump has also totally arrived. Am only 14+4 but broke out the maternity jeans at the weekend, as went out Sat night and was really fed up with the terrible muffin top look my regular jeans were giving me. Though am back in my normal jeans today as spent yesterday at work yanking my maternity jeans up over my arse - not a good look! Especially as I really don't have a small arse!

I did buy some maternity leggings though, as I treated myself to some new flat boots from M&S. Anybody seen any nice maternity tunics or dresses? Haven't quite hit the online shopping yet (and am going to have to wait til payday at this rate after a weekend of hair cut/highlights/night out with the girls/shopping!) but would love some tips on where to look!

Oh Flip I got a great black jersey dress from Next. Black jersey mock-wrap with elbow-length sleeves. Really versatile, I wear it with opaques, heels and this for work, and with leggings or bright tights, flat boots (also M&S!), denim jacket and skull scarf at weekends. So comfy, and flatters the norks Wink

knitterati · 27/09/2011 15:26

Great title for the new thread! Marking my place to keep up with the news Smile

Reallea · 27/09/2011 21:57

Thanks for sorting the new thread Flip.

NFC I think this one is a girl after I have had such horrendous nausea (which I did not get with DS). Hoping so too although ideally I really would like another DS and then try again for a girl but DH says two is it :(

17+2 - 3 weeks today and we find out

Hi everyone! Im 18 weeks today and having really really bad pains in my side.

I was fine until yesterday morning when it felt like stabbing pains towards the front of both sides of my hips and they were coming back stronger every 2-3 minutes. I left work and went to the doctor who said its probably just growing pains but its still like it now.

Ive not gone into work today and i hardly slept last night as its impossible to get comfortable and i dont want to be too far from the doctors (work is 50 mins away from where i live)

Is anyone else having anything similar? This is my 1st baby so im not sure what is normal and what isnt but it really does hurt and only calms down when im lying down

FlipFantasia · 28/09/2011 09:55

Baby you poor thing, sounds horrible Sad. If I were you I'd call my midwife. Pains like that aren't normal (in my experience anyway) and the average GP doesn't really know what's normal and what's not in a pregnancy (which is fair enough, as they're GPs not obstetricians or midwives!).

NFC thanks for the tip on Next - had a look online and they have some lovely stuff! And I didn't even know they did maternity...

It'll be interesting to see what people's scans say when they've guessed a gender Smile. We're not finding out, as I love a good surprise Grin (plus I love thinking up names for both genders!).

Just found out from my boss that I'm taking on more work [sigh]. Though think I need to push for a pay rise, as I need something to feel like this is worthwhile until I go off on maternity leave!

Hi everyone, loving the new thread - feels like a fresh start!

babydust - I get similar pains due to something called "round ligaments" stretching. It is really sore, almost stops me in my tracks and makes me wince. It is a stabbing pain, a bit like a stitch. I didn't get it with my first pregnancy so I was really worried when I felt it but I know it isn't like a period pain sort of ache so I reassure myself that way.

Yours sounds more intense and if its coming and going it must worry you a lot. In these situations the worry is sometimes the worst thing. If you want to be sure that everything is ok the best thing is to contact your midwives at the hospital. There is usually a number you can call if you are worried or experiencing pain. It may waste an afternoon in the hospital but at least it will put your mind at rest. Explain to them how worried you are. They will completely understand if you are honest with them - they know how nervous pregnant ladies get! The GPs aren't experts in this and I'm sure they would be the first to admit it. You can take paracetamol for the pain if its just ligament pain, especially if you aren't sleeping.

Hope this helps and good luck with it all.

Flip - I've been getting some lovely tunics and dresses from Ebay! Including some mothercare ones, some Formes ones and some Seraphine ones. So much cheaper and they are good as new. I also went into Evans and bought some tunics in a size 14 (am normally a 12). These have lots of room and are a good length with leggings for this "bigger than normal but no big bump" phase.

babydust27 · 28/09/2011 10:44

thanks SantaLucia ive done some googling and it does sound similar to the round ligaments stretching.

I went to the doctors yesterday and he wasnt really interested in anything, just said it was normal and to get on with things.

I spoke to the receptionist who asked the nurse to have a look and she checked my stomach and found the heartbeat which was very reassuring.

I think i just need to take it easier at work which isnt easy, im a store manager for a large high street retailer and at the moment everything is moving round to get ready for all the xmas stock coming in. Im not doing any heavy lifting but i have been pushing stands around the shop and moving shelves etc. I always think that i wouldnt expect anyone else to do it so why am i but then i think thats cos theres no-one to tell me not to!!

At least im having a sofa day today and catching up on sky plus!

ILoveMyDragon · 28/09/2011 11:52

Hi ladies just registering ny place over here!

Thanks for all the roomin advice! Right pretending to work as ever!

ShaggingProducesResults · 28/09/2011 14:46

I'm loving my maternity tops (moved into because of norkage!!) and wish that I had 5 so I could just wear those for work every day!!

Is it too nosey to ask for bump pics on the thread?!?!?

NotFromConcentrate · 28/09/2011 17:59

Shagging I tried to upload a scan pic and a bump pic from my iPhone and it wouldn't work Angry

I'll email them to myself and upload later from laptop

knitterati · 28/09/2011 18:13

Hi shagging! I think once I have a definite bump (rather than fat a small lump) I'd be much more happy to post a bump pic. I'm just feeling fat at the moment! :(

Talking of bumps, my mum has recently discovered skype and all its wonders. Grin Today she insisted that I show my flump to the webcam so she can see my bump! It's really lovely that she's getting so excited about it, but I'm not sure my neighbours enjoyed the view!

Haven't really got a name for the bump yet. It has been changing names on a weekly basis depending on what size it is... think its Lemon this week! It has previously been nut and lime. Poor kid is going to come out thinking it's edible! I saw some lovely names for the bump on another thread (can't remember if it's the other March thread or the predecessor to this one). Gah! Baby Brain! anyway - I hope at some point our March threads will merge, so I can stop getting my wires crossed.

ILoveMyDragon · 28/09/2011 18:38

Not much to comment but I work in learning disability and one of my guys has names it 'the lump' so it is now unofficially that! It does have an official name but that would potentially identify me to anyone (very unlikely I know) who knew me on here!

New Look have some lovely cheap maternity stuff and I had a quick look on Peacocks website and they have some gorgeous stuff! Roll on pay day....

Treks · 28/09/2011 22:13

Hi all, good to meet you. I'm 37 on Saturday, live in South London and this will be my first. Haven't had any sickness, but did feel really shattered in the evenings - it's clearing up a bit now thankfully. Scan was great - and everything is "ordinary" as the medical professionals say. All very exciting!

Treks · 28/09/2011 22:13

oops - and I'm 15+6

SantaLucia · 29/09/2011 18:33

Evening all. Pregnancy freaky hormone dreams alert!!!!

Last night I dreamt that I was having a menage a trois with Paul Macartney and Heather Mills. Paul was a bit younger than he is now. That doesn't make it any less embarrassing does it? Blush

On a brighter note, had a midwife check up today and heard the heartbeat for the first time. Lovely.

SantaLucia · 29/09/2011 18:34

Oops. And hello and welcome to you Treks.

FlipFantasia · 29/09/2011 18:38

Evening ladies

Isn't this heatwave great? Today was my day off and felt like me and DS were abroad when all we were doing were playing in the sandpit in Finsbury Park! I saw some really heavily pregnant women though and it made me glad I wasn't lugging a massive bump around in the heat...

Baby hope you're feeling better. Did you call your midwife in the end? And definitely take it easy at work - if no one at work is going to tell you we'll just have to do it Grin - lay off the pushing/lifting! Seriously though, take it easy - that pain sounds dreadful.

SantaLucia thanks for the ebay tip - haven't had an ebay session in ages and I love a bit of ebaying!

Stuff totally hadn't realised you were pregnant with no 5! How exciting. I'm one of 6 and big families are great Smile. Sorry to hear of the SPD/sickness. Hope it's not too bad. I'm also still BFing DS - are you going to tandem feed? I've said I want to wean DS but that was when my boobs were really sore. They feel OK now so don't know if I'll bother...although not too sure if the reality of tandem feeding is for me. I swing back and forth (but figure I still have months to make up my mind!).

Shagging I'd do a bump picture but I think it just looks fat to everyone else at the moment! I really admire people who are organised enough to do one every month. Never really got around to it last time...

Knitterati skype is great! We skype my PIL in the States all the time - DS can really interact with them and it's lovely. Must be great for your mum!

Dragon thanks for the peacocks and new look tip - just realised new look stocks mama.licious which is one of my all-time favourite maternity brands. I got stuff from mothercare in Ireland last time (I'm from Cork) and all of it was flattering, washed well etc. Am delighted I can buy it in the UK now too!

Treks welcome Smile. I'm also in London though north. Good to hear all is normal! Just about the best thing to be told when pregnant...

OK, dinner's nearly ready so toodle pip for now!

flipfantasia i saw the midwife yesterday and she says its the round ligaments and to be really careful. The pain is mainly in my left side now and warm baths at night seem to help

I had a meeting this morning with my area manager who said take as much time as i need and never feel pressured which is really nice but typical me went back to work after!!! I didnt lift anything though :)

Im off work tomorrow so ive booked in to get my haircut and im going out with DP for a nice mean so will be a nice end to a rubbish week!!

ILoveMyDragon · 29/09/2011 19:34

Saw MW today and heard heartbeat which was pretty awesome!!

Baby I get bad ligament pain similar to yours and kinda ignored it and ended up pulling a muscle in my back so really do take it easy!!!

Managed to talk my Mum into a shopping trip on Tuesday so hoping for some treats!!! (To be honest she didn't need any persuading!)

Any first timers already booked their antenatal classes? I was gonna leave it a bit but got a bit told off as I hadn't already done it!!
