Congratulations cheekydino what a shock!

Safariboots · 23/09/2011 05:14

Just catching up with the new thread; hello to all new members Smile.
Wow, so many posts to catch up on!!!

I hope everyone else has been well.
I've now had my last appointment with midwife, also met with my consultant to set ELCS date.

I've been unwell and feeling rubbish for the last two weeks. Had to go into assessment as foetal movements went down and I developed symptoms which suggested pre-eclampsia; thankfully nothing too serious but now on medication for an infection and pain from SPD. The heartburn/ acid is getting worse so have been swigging on the Gaviscon; does anyone know if anything else works better?

I am just looking forward to getting to the end safely.

Congratulations BB3 and cheekydino!!!

All the best to cupoftea, hope things continue to look up.

I am 36+6 today,

BB3 · 23/09/2011 07:07

Morning all

safari milk helped me a kit and I can't take gaviscon so tennis was my choice of poison!

Very disturbed night but actually got most sleep yet. Fell asleep after posting then DDmS wanted mummy after horrible dreams. unfortunately this coincided with twin dual feed demands so spent the most painful hour with badly latched on twins feeding just so I could have a spare cuddling arm for DS. However about 3.30 they all were asleep and I've just woken up two stirring little girls to feed them so all in all about 5 hours GrinGrinGrin yay!!!

Hope wet get lots more babies today! cheeky how are you and little E getting on?

sassy34264 · 23/09/2011 07:09

safari im another who guzzles gaviscon. its cost me a fortune this pregnancy, for some reason it wasnt this bad with my last one- twins- go figure! Hmm

bb3 i think its up to you sweet. either post it straight on here or in birth stories and put a link here. i will just put mine straight on here. look forward to hearing all about it.

i couldnt sleep again last night and ended up looking through names lists again! i think im thinking im going to just see one that ive missed and which dp is going to like too. but i know thats not going to happen. basically its nathaniel or issac and esme or emme. i text him saying how about variants like emae or emmie. but it was late and is early so not heard back yet. i do like joseph (although not even half as much) but i hate joe for a nickname, but i thought seph was quite nice, so i have mentioned that too. it would be nice to agree on bloody something!

BB3 · 23/09/2011 07:50

Cool beans I'll probably do it here. How about you say to DP as you're buffeting off to Dubai I'm picking the name. Sounds like a good deal to me!! Wink I love all your e names and nathaniel is my favourite of the boys names although I like Isaac too!

BB3 · 23/09/2011 08:14

Buggering off not buffeting off.

CrazyAlien06 · 23/09/2011 08:43

Hey everyone :) I joined this thread a while back and just popping back on :-) congrats on all the new arrival!! How exciting!

I'm now 38+ 5 with no signs whatsoever of LO emerging into the world soon! Had mw appt weds and she said it is getting into a back to back position so cue trying to lay over a birthing ball yday- gave up as was not comfortable!

Anyone know any other tips to help move it? Went swimming and been sitting on ball instead of sof/armchair but don't find it comfortable! Hope baby moves as really don't fancy a long, painful labour as mw said that would be what it would be like :( especially as quick labours are the norm in my family!

I feel like this baby is never going to arrive and I'll still be pregnant in 6 months time lol. I haven't felt any braxton hicks or anything. Only reassured by the groovy dance moves baby makes that I am actually pregnant! Oh that and heartburn.

For some stupid reason I volunteered to give DH the morning off walking the dog( I retired from everyday dog walking at 37 weeks) but now got to contemplate getting up and ready after another rubbish nights sleep! I seem to spend most of the night wriggling from laying on my left side, to my back , to right side ... Very disturbing :( then wide awake at 5am when DH alarm goes off.

Sorry for me, me,me rant :( just needed a good moan- I know I've had a 'easy' pregnancy compared to most people as DH continuously tells me. Oh and we ve been invited out for dinner tomorrow night with fronds and I've got a lovely coldsore now- fab! I really don't know if I fancy going out full stop, would love to go out with just DH :0)

Penelope1980 · 23/09/2011 08:47

I love esme as a name - having a boy so not relevant in this case, but it gets my vote!

I feel very full of baby today. DH doesn't want him to come until the World Cup rugby game tomorrow is over, but I wouldn't mind Smile

Penelope1980 · 23/09/2011 08:50

CrazyAlien06 no worries about moaning, and if you do have real tips for moving things along let me know! I have had cramps for days, but nothing else, and those don't sound like contraction type craps. Oh well. Waiting waiting ...

monkeybubbles · 23/09/2011 09:21

cheeky congratulations!!! that is fantastic news, a huge surprise, but now you've got a beautiful baby girl! i'm jealous Envy

yesterday at around 5pm my contractions started properly! i could time them, about 12 minutes apart and they were hurting. all day i had signs (cramps and 'emptying'). took some paracetemol and put on the tens machine, thinking this was definitely it! felt really nauseous, couldn't eat dinner (and only had half a cupcake, so you know things were bad!) and then it all slowed down :( had a bath and went to bed, and now this morning...nothing! it's like it never happened, again! i just don't get it!!!

37 + 1

Bubalie · 23/09/2011 09:46

Morning all, I missed one day on here and it took ages to read all the posts again, we are so busy on this thread now and the babies are coming almost every day :)

Conratulations cheeky, hope you and baby ok and you are enjoying it. Lucky you, I think most of us here are envious as all we are talking about is how to get the babies out hahah :)

BB3 yes please can we post birth stories here, it would be great to read..

Had mw appointment yesterday, didn't get measured ( I was meant to because my referral to a growth scan last week, instead she said she will measure me next week). Baby's hb ok, head down 4/5 engaged (which when I looked into it means it's not engaged it's sitting on the pelvis Confused!

I am yet to do a birth plan, and I feel I'm cutting it fine now as 37+6 today, does anyone have any advice or their plan I can look into please?

Bubalie · 23/09/2011 09:47

Monkey sorry to hear your contractions have slowed down again, it must be hard when you think something is happening and then nothing. Hope things start developing for you soon!

Scheherezade · 23/09/2011 09:58

Honestly, this bus moves so fast I can't keep up - completely missed your post cheekydino massive CONGRATS!!!! Lovely name :)

October babies are getting moving it seems!

BB3 · 23/09/2011 10:04

ooh busy few posts

crazy moan away, these last few weeks are never enjoyable!

Monkey how frustrating* although sounds like it wont be long - fingers crossed!

Bubalie write down everything in your head, work out how you want it to be but also consider that it is very, very likely to change so what would be your back up options...

Cool beans will post story shortly!

Scheherezade · 23/09/2011 10:04

monkey I know that feeling! Hopefully it's a sign though that you are o nyour way at least.

I've decided against a breech birth - it'll likely cause stitches and the recovery from that will mean no riding for as long as a c-sec recovery time! (not that I am choosing my birth options by how long I can get back in the saddle Grin. I guess I may aswell give the ECV at 39 weeks a go - if it doesn't work or hurts then I guess I can tell them to stop and go for the c-sec. It'll only be an extra week at the end of the day, and if I go into labour before then then I will have a c-sec. At least there'll be no waiting till 42 weeks for me!

Scheherezade · 23/09/2011 10:07

bubalie - I just made sure my DP knew it all, I figure they can just ignore any bits of paper, but if DP demands on my behalf then at least there's someone fighting for you. It depends what goes on it I suppose - my biggie was just no ventouse/forceps at all - the rest I was pretty flexible about.

I think you can download birth plan lists from the NHS site, which gives suggestions and looks 'official'.

BB3 · 23/09/2011 10:08

Birth story from BB x

So Monday 19th September started off relatively normally. DH left at 7 for a week away in Gloucester with work. Mum and my sister took DS out shopping for the day they needed to go a bit further than town to pick some bits up so I was left under the care of my father who was leaving for work at 1.30 that day so I would only be alone for 2 hours (you forget I am a full grown adult).

Dad was plumbing in the bathroom trying to fix a leaky tap on the bath (cue memories of him fixing the bathroom I ripped out when I was in labour with DS with no water etc ? SNAP!). Plumbing failed but there was lots of banter at home about when I was going to hospital that day as dad was plumbing!

Went to midwife appointment, all was fine, told her about potential leaky waters and period pain and she said it might be a slowly starting off but she couldn?t see anything that implied it was happening any time soon.

Off dad went and DS returned home about 3.30. We played in the garden had a little bounce on the trampoline (no more than normal). I was knackered as had a bad night sleep so I went to lay on the sofa about 4pm and watch Greys Anatony DVDs while my sister entertained the monster! After about 5-10 minutes I felt a warm sensation (but not gush) in my underwear. I?d been a bit paranoid that my waters were slowly leaking (or that my pelvic floors were shot) so I went to the bathroom to check... Bathroom was busy so don?t know why but decided to have a little feel and realised my hand was covered in blood. Called my mum to take me to the hospital and went into the bathroom. My underwear and trousers were soaked through with blood and I had a horrendous amount of what looked like blood clots but I later learned were chunks of the placenta in my underwear. After getting myself sorted, sending my sister off to get my hospital bag and new clothes for me to put on etc, I called the labour ward who wanted me to get an ambulance in but it was quicker for me to be driven in. We drove in were hooked up to CTG and blood loss monitored.

As with every CTG the twins were flicking between tracking brilliantly and falling off the machine. Blood loss calmed down to ?period type? levels. The day team finished at 5 and handed over to night team. My new consultant and midwife were without doubt the best medical people I have ever dealt with. Completely honest and open about everything. The day staff had been very flakey and just said ?let?s wait and see if we can get you as close to your elective CS as possible (which was booked in for 26th) but these two were just fantastic. The midwife stayed with me the entre time, (bar going out to talk to consultant / get paperwork etc), she kept me up to date of every conversation had about me with any medical team and got the consultant to explain everything to me. They were really honest and said that they would really like me to get through the night so they could deliver the babies in the maternity theatre the next day where they had enough pediatricians and anesthetists to support me as a section that night would mean emergency surgery in the main hospital and they were worried they didn?t have enough staff to cope (labour ward was busy at that point). So that looked set to be the plan, sent mum home about 8.30 as it was pointless us both sitting around and not getting any sleep and come back the next morning (DH was still away but was not coming into surgery with me regardless so I was to call him when we knew a time so he could be there waiting for me to come out).

I?d been having on and off tightening for a week or so and these carried on while on the ctg but at 9am the proper contractions as I would call them started ? 3 minutes apart and blood loss started to increase. By 10am I was being monitored every 20 minutes by the consultant who said that again ideally I would get through the night but it was looking less likely. Midwife (who I loved) said to me to call mum in as based on her experience she thinks I will be in theatre in less than four hours. By 11pm they were 1 minute apart and the decision was made to do an emergency c-section as I was losing too much blood and contractions were too strong for me to cope. I don?t think I had realised how serious it was until there was an emergency callout on the hospital. Anesthetist came and tried to get me to have a general which I refused point blank to do unless there was an emergency situation which consultant agreed with and I was taken over to the emergency theatre and everyone was rushing around getting it all ready. I got a bit freaked out at that point but tried to hold it all together as they were talking me through everything. Spinal took a few attempts to get in and midwife was explaining everything to me. There was so much going on, I was hooked up to ctg machines, drips, injections put in, arm strapped to the table. They were all brilliant keeping me talking about random rubbish while they set up around me (I wouldn?t normally see any of that), spinal went in, final tests done, screen up and it started.

One of the surgical team talked me through everything , twin one he could see hair, I heard it cry (sounded just like DS). I asked him what it was, he asked if I really wanted to know ? and told me it was a girl. Lots more crying and rummaging around and out came a bum and then the whole of twin two three minutes later. I asked them again, they couldn?t believe I wanted to know before seeing them ? they told me it was another girl. To say I was shocked was an understatement everyone was convinced I was having one of each (including me). I couldn?t hear any crying. Twin one was bought over to me and we had head snuggles while they worked on twin 2 and sewed me up. Twin two was bought over, the pediatrician told me that they had to work on her a bit as she wasn?t pinking up as fast as they would have wanted but she only needed a bit of oxygen and they would keep an eye on her for a bit but she seemed absolutely fine. Shortly after we were taken to the post natal ward cuddling my babies and DH arrived about 30 minutes later. He couldn?t believe he had two girls. He couldn?t get his head round it. They let him stay on the post natal ward for an hour and then had to leave.

My beautiful daughter Edith-May was born weighting 5lb 11.5 oz at 00.44 on 20th September 2011 and her sister Ayse-Rose followed weighing 6lb 1oz at 00.47.

Post natal for the first 12 hours was pretty horrible until I made them get me out of bed so I could move and get dressed and the contrast in care compared to labour ward was horrendous but was discharged after one day after which made it more bearable. So that?s it, I have two beautiful baby girls at home and their big brother who is amazing me more at his coping abilities every day. I am tired. A bit sore from constant feeding and tummy is slightly tender but overall not as bad as recovery from the internal stitches I had with DS.

All in all (bar post natal care) absolutely great experience.

Fleecy · 23/09/2011 10:09

sassy it's just as well we don't know each other in real life - looks like we may well end up with same or similar baby names Grin

I haven't ever done a birth plan as I didn't want to get hung up on everything having to happen a certain way. Instead, DH and I have always talked through what I would like and what I would settle for and what I would really try to avoid and he has been in charge of trying to ensure we stick with it if I can't speak up for myself!

Sorry about the starting and stopping monkey - you have my sympathies!

Nothing happening here today but that's just as well. DS is on his 4th day off playschool with a nasty cough and cold and DD started throwing up in the night so she's home from school today as well. Joy! I am hoping I don't catch either as not sure vomiting or coughing would be much fun with a section incision healing Hmm

Fleecy · 23/09/2011 10:13

Major cross posts there bb3 - will read now!

Leo4 · 23/09/2011 10:15

Crazy alien I also went to mw yesterday to be told back to back...after sturggling to make a breech baby head down and achieving it I thought all would go smoothly but no! Are you finding you have terrible back ache!? My midwife told me to get on all fours and rock...so I'm going to try that. I know my mum gave birth to me back to back and she didnt say it was more painful just 10 times longer...because the baby is in an awkward position to get down the birth canal! Good luck!

monkey ahh poor you...Its bad enough getting a few twinges and thinking this is it...but getting proper contractions it must be horrible...Hope it will be your time soon!

sassy names are a big problem for me because I like odd names and Dp shall i say likes popular names...so I said I would go with such names but I really wanted something slightly more imaginitive...o well! I love your names btw especially esme! And I'm quite a big fan of seb as well!

Scheherezade · 23/09/2011 10:26

wow that's quite a story BB3 ! glad it all worked out so well after what seems like a pretty worrying time.

BabCNesbitt · 23/09/2011 10:30

Heh, I think I'm the only person here not willing the baby to hurry up and come out! I've got tickets for 3 gigs in week 38 (I know, I'm stupid, but I didn't want to miss them) and so I keep telling her to stay put until at least the 15th! Grin

BabCNesbitt · 23/09/2011 10:39

X-post there BB3 - even more impressed with your quick discharge now after all that!

PenguinArmy · 23/09/2011 10:46

I'm in no rush either Rabc I still haven't packed my labour bag

I didn't feel like I needed a birth plan last time. This time it will address just the concerns that so that MWs will hopefully reassure me or spot when I might panic or not fight my corner (DH there). Even if I go for CS I figure there is a good chance of labour first.

Supposed to be going out so of course DD is sleeping. She didn't have a fever last night and I even managed 6 hours sleep.
