Congratulations shelly, penguin, wobble, moly, sunface, bilblio and safari. Lots of babies arriving now. Smile

Woohoo for baby being the right way round BabC and pinkpainter!

Loved reading your birth story cheshire as I am doing hypnobirthing too, so it?s nice to read an experience where it went (mostly) to plan.

Hope that Ayse-Rose is on the mend BB3.

Hope it?s going well engel and pebble, can?t wait to hear your exciting news!

My wardrobe handles still haven?t turned up from Mamas & Papas, grrrrrr.

Nothing really to report here, had lots of BH over the last couple of days which I hadn?t previously been noticing. No idea whether that means anything! Hope so, I?m ready for this baby to arrive now.

Oh wow,

congrats to all the new babies and hope the pg ladies aren't going too stir crazy

Engelsmeisje · 15/10/2011 19:37

Max James Antonius born 15.42 15th Oct. 3340grams. Super fast labour!
Already home. Will update properly later on.

pinkpainter · 15/10/2011 19:45

Well done Engel - that's fantastic news!! Home already - wow, that's amazing!! In the UK I doubt if they could even process the paperwork to let anyone out that fast...welcome baby Max and looking forward to hearing your birth story, if you have time to write it up. :)

Been in such a mood today waiting for my baby to come - if I wasn't having so many signs I could just relax and stop thinking about it. Grrrrr.....

SconesForTea · 15/10/2011 20:25

Good evening everyone! Congratulations to bilblio on baby Seth, Safariboots on your baby girl (name?) and of course Engels on Max! Looking forward to hearing from all of you in due course.

Good luck Pebble (and yes it really does hurt Smile)

BB3 glad that Ayse-Rose is on the mend. I agree with Trudyla that you shouldn't even be thinking about baby weight at this stage You are feeding three whole humans (including yourself Wink) and the weight will probably drop off naturally (did it with DS?) but even if it doesn't - you need fuel, and lots of it. Treats are not only desirable, but necessary Grin

mpops I am with you on feeling too dependent on DH. I am already obsessing about how on earth I will cope when his PL ends (and of course it hasn't started yet... sigh). From last time, my advice would be, really don't worry about things like the washing and cleaning (everyone said this to me, but I was determined to prove I could cope and did it anyway, and was exhausted for weeks). DH can help when he gets in from work - you will have been working just as hard, with DD, at home.

pink I am incredibly envious of your 6-week rota. That is a fabulous idea and I only wish I had people available so that I could copy it.

Cheshire you've given me encouragement re your back to back labour at home. My baby's posterior and I'm still hoping to have a HB, but very scared of the pain - my God it hurt so much last time, how on earth could it hurt more?! Well done you.

Hey HandDived my DSis is 42 and expecting a baby next April Grin I know what you mean about time running very slowly.

Tally I wouldn't bother re-washing the baby clothes, some others would I expect. I'm far too lazy and there is no history of allergies or skin sensitivity in my family.

Well we are finally getting stuff ready for this baby Smile Got the newborn clothes and moses basket down from the loft, and DH washed the tarpaulin ready for the HB. Still have to pack hospital bag, might get around to that tomorrow...

39 today and feeling very, very pregnant indeed.

SconesForTea · 15/10/2011 20:35

Oh meant to say we're in danger of running out of room on this thread soon...

Mimatchin · 15/10/2011 20:40

Glad to hear all those new baby arrival!!

Engels Congratulations! Lucky you so quick!!

Am I the only one overdue now??? :( and no sign

40+6

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 15/10/2011 21:02

ooh Engels congratulations. Hope everything went well.

Mimatchin try not to worry - the baby will come! With DS I seriously thought he was never going to make an appearance and then at 40 + 10 it all started, naturally (hence why I am holding out for a natural birth rather than an induction - I don't think I have early/on time babies!).

Thanks Scones - that gives me hope! Good luck to your sister!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 15/10/2011 22:59

Hi all
Just a quick post, contractions now coming quite regularly so am now in hospital but after bein examined I'm only 2cm Sad they have said it's up to me to decide if I want to stay or go home but DH will have Togo home WWYD I live quite far from hospital 40 mins so I'm leaning towards staying?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 16/10/2011 01:17

Well that's me home maybe by Monday

happymummytobe · 16/10/2011 07:00

Hello all - congratulations on all the new babies! It's all very exciting Smile

Had a sweep on Friday (at 40 weeks) and my waters broke last night. Went to hospital to have it confirmed and have had a good nights sleep at home but no contractions yet. I need to be in established labour by 6.30pm tonight so I can use the birth centre so will get up soon and start walking/bouncing... Any other ideas?!

All feels a bit surreal. If no contractions by Monday morning then they'd like to induce me. Bit scared of that. Bit scared of it all really but trying to be calm.

Edward I'm about a 25-30 min drive from the hospital and completely sympathise. Want to be at home as much as possible but don't want to end up giving birth on the roadside!

All you new mothers - thank you for (possibly unknowingly) encouraging me and helping me feel brave!

congratulations to all the new arrivals- they are coming thick and fast now! i have read all the thread, but totally confused about what is what! i dont know how everyone seems to remember it all- i swear i get dumber by the minute.

i had to have a pre op appointment on fri for my c section next fri and asked for a sweep at the same time- which they agreed to do, but she couldnt do it. she said my cervix was soft and central but firmly shut. boo. i am the only one ive come across who couldnt have a sweep done. fecking typical.

good news is that dp has definately agreed to isaac if it is a boy! yeah!!!!!!!
bad news, if its a girl we have no idea.

tally the need to wash in non bio is incase baby has sensitive skin, but only a very few % actually do. so its up to you. i dont tend to wash mine seperately for very long cos its a pain in the arse. a couple of months at the most.

bb3 sorry to hear about ayse-rose hope she is better soon.

to those with dp/dh anxieties about paternity leave ending- it is totally normal to feel being left alone is a daunting prospect. esp if you are 1st timers. i feel it and im a 3rd timer. but it can be quite nice to have some alone bonding time too.

i second scones on the dont bother to much about housework. i found it worked for me to leave the unecessary jobs when i was tired and then on the rare days i has a burst of energy, i would just blast it.

good luck to anyone having contractions- waters broke etc. you lucky people. im quite upset at the moment that my last chance of a vb is ebbing away as each day passes, but i'll get over it eventually i suppose.

MamaMaiasaura · 16/10/2011 09:10

Edward - hug for you (I know very un-mumsnet) but I remember having that with ds2. So frustrating as your body is doing something and then then when your disapponted that not more. Its definately happening tho and all the pains now may well mean once established labour it will go quicker. I recommend getting as much rest as you can (hard when so uncomfortable).

I'm still here, weird dreams last night and that it's a boy. Names wise we have narrowed down a bit mrs. More certain on boy than girl name tho. Already have Thomas and Samuel. So our choice are Zachary or Isaac (love Zac, goes well with Tom and Sam). Matthew was in running too but not sure. Girls wise, I adored Amelia for ages but now leaning more toward Jessica or Abigail.

Just had massive lay in! Thanks to dh looking after boys. Milky coffee in bed now. I was bad last night and had a glass of beringer, I am pretty much teetotal normally. One glass is ok isn't it?

CheshireDing · 16/10/2011 09:37

I was sat on lots of pillows and had DH doing some serious back rubbing Scones Grin. It also helped me that he would say "half way through, 45 seconds to go" or something like that, so I knew there was an end in sight after each contraction.

Congratulations Engels, these babies really are turning up now!

Edward I would have gone home too, I know it's 40 minutes away but things might get moving more if you are at home I would have thought, rather than going stir crazy in hospital. Good luck :)

Happy I felt this pressure for labour to start too as my waters had broken on the Tuesday and they wanted me to come in on the Wednesday to be induced if it hadn't happened (but I wanted a hb). DH and I went for a power dog walk, was trotting up and down the stairs, ate a whole pineapple and did some nipple tweaking ;) oh and scoffed raspberry leaf. Can't think of anything else. Good luck for today.

bilblio · 16/10/2011 10:24

Sorry can't keep up with things on phone, congratulations where needed, I'll do it properly once home. I'm still in hospital. My iron levels went down yesterday, so had 2 units of blood last night. Can't be a donor anymore. :( if you can give blood please do. I wanted to pay back the 17 units my dad needed a few years ago. I'd got to 2 and needed them back.

I Feel stronger for them but Seth fed a lot last night so I'm very tired. He's cleared for discharge, just waiting for blood results to see if I will be. Desperate to get home now. Got a private room, but no telly, well there is, but the aerial and remotest for them get pinched!. So pleased I got myself a smart phone so I don't feel totally cut off from the world.

happymummytobe · 16/10/2011 16:06

Now almost 22 hours since my waters broke and nothing. Feeling very glum and can't stop crying. Am so tired and just don't want to go to the labour ward. Walked for 2 hours this morning - will go out again soon. Not sure what else I can do!

bilblio you've inspired me to donate blood when I'm back on my feet again. And to bring along some other friends who've never done it before. Hope you're feeling stronger and can go home soon.

Hello all

Right just catching up..

Tally completely up to you on clothes, I'm not a huge worrier about stuff like that - maybe just rewash a selection that he will wear on the first few days where he is still new and not exposed to anything and then introduce the others later.

MrsP are your BH's painful or just stronger and more noticeable?

Engel huge congrats on baby Max - hope you are enjoying snuggles with him at home

Pink you are not wrong about paperwork - took them over 3 hours to process mine to be discharged! (And I am the least patient person ever so it was driving me CRAZY!!!)

Scones glad you are getting things sorted - did you get hospital bag done? Oh and you and Trudyla don't need to worry, I am not trying to lose the baby weight just yet, just feel slightly guilty when shovelling my face full of stuff that is going to add to it rather than remove it when the time comes for me to start!

Happy it's natural to feel frustrated that things aren't going to plan but (please don't think I am being patronising) from my experience and reading others, things rarely go to plan when it comes to having these LOs and all that matters is that soon you will have your LO in your arms regardless of which way they come and in what surroundings. That doesn't take away the sadness at the moment though - there is still time for it to kick off so don't be too disheartened yet x sending lots of established labour vibes to you!

Edward how is it going?

sassy baby is obviously just very comfy in there Smile that he or she doesn not want to come out or let the MWs in!! And yay for boys names. Out of interest as you have DC's of both, are you hoping for a particular sex at all (although obviously happy with either)?

Awen all your names are lovely x

Bilblio glad you are feeling a bit better - I can't give blood but DH goes so I'll make him do some extra for you Wink

Things are getting better here, Ayse-Rose seems to be virtually back to normal (although still very clingy) we now just need to get back in to some sort of routine and after letting her get away with it while she has been so sick, get her back to being put down and not held constantly (awake or asleep)! It has been one of those weekends though where you seem to be juggling a million plates and dropping them all simultaneously! DS threw up all over my sofa this morning and all over me, about 20 minutes after Ayse-Rose did a huge nappy explosion that leaked over me. All of this while Ede is screaming with wind and my niece (who is staying with us this weekend), was screaming from over-tiredness! There was literally nothing you could do but laugh.

DS is going to visit his family on Thursday for a week (we aren't going as I think girls are too small to fly) and my parents are off on holiday for two weeks on Friday so am looking forward to the peace and quiet of me, my sister and the kids.

Oh I started a new antenatal thread for us here Fingers crossed this is the last one before we all have our babies and are off over to poo and cracked nipple chat on PN xx

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 16/10/2011 16:57

My contractions have stopped completely again, it's now making me really depressed! Getting really ratty with DH and generally just feel like hiding in my bedroom all day, am trying my hardest not to take it out on DS (was hoping someone in the family could take him to softplay today to give us a bit of a rest but between 4 grandparents and an aunt and uncle no-one can as they all have a cold/flu! I know that's really selfish but can't help be annoyed about it.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 16/10/2011 17:04

I've started a new thread but on my phone so can't link

Not been on for ages. Went to hospital for induction on 12th, and had to wait 5 hours for a room as someone was having triplets that day. When I got hooked up for monitoring, I was having contractions. Was not very dilated, so they decided to go ahead anyway, but my hind waters broke and contractions started just before I was due to get the pessary. There was meconium in the waters, so they were keenish to give me drugs to hurry things on a bit, but the baby was not distressed, so I just continued with labour naturally. I refused until I could get proper pain relief, as I thought contractions would be more painful if I was given syntocinin, and there was no anaesthetist available. Got a half dose of morphine while waiting. Finally got an epidural, but it didn't work (was a bit disappointed -- would have liked to see what a birth without pain was like). As was quite dilated by then agreed to have remainder of waters broken rather than call anaesthetist back for another go. Ended up with a non-induced birth without an (effective) epidural. DD2 now 19 days old and doing fine.
