Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello all

Sorry again can't remember all individual post but wanted to drop in and say hello.

scheh I think I'd be reporting any blood loss, drops or gushes just to be on the safe side. I found like your mother now but just go careful - it does sound like it's all starting and you want yourself and baby to be as relaxed and healthy as possible.

Anew I'm in Salisbury and dsis lives in soton xx

Re induction it hurts more to be induced and in my personal opinion the process is not as enjoyable overall as youre iften strapped up and unable to move around so it is better to go naturally unless there's s medical reason not too. I was induced with DS and it wasn't nice!

Re spd* reading post has transported me back a week where it made mr cry trying to move in bed. However I can at least offer light at the end of the tunnel. I know it's not guaranteed for everyone but I've not had a single twinge since these two were delivered. Smilecsi not long to go xxx

wheelshavefallenoffthebus · 21/09/2011 20:45

Groovy I'm not completely sure, I'd imagine best place to start is your midwife or GP? both my pregnancies have been consultant led and I think referrals could be made by either. I had an induction with ds1 and have one planned for this pregnancy so can't really compare it with a spontaneous labour. Am hoping this one might start on it's own although have pre booked my epidural with my induction Wink

Scheherezade · 21/09/2011 20:49

fleecey that sounds v. exciting! Well if you beat me I will be very grumpy! haha.

Unfortunately ladies things seemed to have stalled here - no real pain or timings to the BH. But I got to ikea, woo!

CheshireDing · 21/09/2011 21:31

Scheh your posts do make me chuckle with your TMI's and ridiculous muck out/cleaning. Are you still riding? Wouldn't surprise me! I hope you enjoy Ikea and get the storage sorted :)

BB3 loving your babies names, I absolutely adore Ede as a shortened vesion, very cool!

Welcome to the newbies :)

I believe acupuncture is really good for spd, might be worth a try Groovy.

Am I the only one still at work next week? Booooo!

MW visiting our house tomorrow to assess the pool situation.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/09/2011 21:44

Wow this thread is so busy Grin I can't keep up baby brain not helping.

Bb3, not too far from me, I'm dibden. Often up at peppa pig world with ds2.

I think my ds is finally weaning (yay!!!) last 2 nights literally less than a minute nursing and not really nursing then. Gone to sleep with cuddle instead. Really hope this is it as don't want him to be wanting to when baby here and milk comes in.

Molybdenum · 21/09/2011 22:01

Groovy phone an acupuncturist. Mine has completely banished my nasty SPD and says she has great success with it. She gets very frustrated that women are told physio is all there is, and that there is not much that can be done. For me, the acupuncture has been a lifesaver, as I too was crying in bed and having real trouble moving around. I had a session today and swear my pelvis feels like I'm not even pregnant anymore!

I'm 39+2 today and the bump has noticeably dropped. Largely ready for our homebirth, but I'd like a few more days to get a few more things sorted out. Like maternity bras: anyone have any advice for someone with a tiny ribcage? My pre-pregnancy size was 26D (used to have them made at Rigby & Peller) and even though my ribcage has expanded somewhat with the pregnancy no fitting expert has been able to help me find a nursing bra that feels secure enough and won't ride up. So far I have one Bravado vest-type one, but need more and really don't know which ones will be best. I really don't want to be spending Rigby & Peller sort of money on them if possible!

GroovyRach · 21/09/2011 22:13

Lol, glad to hear u finally got to ikea!!

I'm just back from asda, treated myself to a big carton of ribena (mmm Grin), pringles and some fizzy chew sweets!

Def gonna phone midwife 2mrw and see if I can speak to someone about this spd. Glad to hear that urs has gone bb3. Acupuncture may be worth a shot aswell.

Just had a text from a friend who suggests a wee gin to help start labour. Toying with the idea..... Wink

Scheherezade · 21/09/2011 22:21

Do it groovy ! Then if it works I'll try it too Grin

am not still riding, but would be if I could! haha.

GroovyRach · 21/09/2011 22:29

Just had a wee measure with some coke (no tonic in house!). Fingers crossed!!

bilblio · 21/09/2011 22:31

Wow, it's really obvious so many people are on maternity leave now. So many posts! I wanted an early night but it's taken me an hour to catch up!

BB3 Congratulations, lovely names, and I'm so impressed on your speedy recovery. Also taking hope from your comments about SPD. I can't wait to be able to walk/waddle without being in pain.

Scheh With blood loss, liquids etc I'd be making a nuisance of myself and getting checked up. I had a low lying placenta, it's moved, but I had it drilled into me that the tiniest drop of blood I needed to go into hospital.

Penelope 4 names is fine, it's not like they need to use them all. DD has my surname as her middle name. It's an unusual surname, nothing like a forename, but we weren't married and even though we are now I've still kept it. Also as my brother has 3 girls and no boys I wanted to carry the name on in some way. This LO will have it as a middle name too.
The only problem we have at the moment is that DD can't say her name, she can say all the bits individually, but when she tries to say it all in one go her middle name and her surname get mixed up. She'll get there and at the moment it's very cute and funny :o

Groovy re SPD. I had to speak to my midwife and she referred me for physio. I didn't need to see a consultant. The appointment took about 2 weeks, but I first mentioned it at 20 weeks, they might be quicker at this stage. I've been told to take paracetamols constantly and top up with codeine when needed. THankfully it hasn't got as bad as I feared so I haven't needed to take any codeine and I generally only take paracetamols on really bad days, or at bedtime.
Also take it easy but don't stop.

I'm in pain today because yesterday evening I was in the kitchen baking. I side stepped, which always hurts but I forgot... but I slipped. My foot only slipped a few inches before I stopped myself but it really, really hurt. SO today I've been really hobbling.

But I'm now on maternity leave!!! Hurrah!!! I'm going to miss everyone, and my job so much, but I am so ready to finish! (sorry exclamation mark overload.) They are all instructed to call in for a brew and biscuits when they're passing.... after the first couple of weeks anyway. It's an incentive for me to keep the house tidy :o

However I should ban them all really.
I got into work with morning and received a letter saying my application for maternity leave had been revoked. Shock After all the hassle I went through with maternity leave for my other job I almost believed it.
It went on to say that the physio team couldn't cope without me (I don't work for physio, I just sit with them) and so they had put in measures to cope with my labour and subsequent childcare... they had clean dishcloths and sharp penknives and a host of useful things in someone's car boot. :o

35+2 I just had to work out if it was 34 or 35 weeks, stupid baby brain.

BabCNesbitt · 21/09/2011 23:16

CheshireDing, I'm still at work next week, doing a handover to my replacement - very Envy of bilblio's last day today! Knackered every day at work at the moment, and sitting on the office chair seems to squish up my rib cage. Cancelled a night out with a mate tonight because I was so sore and aching - felt a little guilty, but damn if it wasn't good to just come home and sit in a bath!

Well done on making it to Ikea, scheh. Grin Did you get everything you needed?

Penelope1980 · 21/09/2011 23:54

About the false starts, I've decided that they are all important in the scheme of things as a way to feel less frustrated when they come to naught! All I have is period type pain and the general feeling in my body that it doesn't want to be pregnant anymore. I am sure you all empathise!

But, my baby started moving again at least - not as much as before, but he's def there and OK. Thanks for the advice on names, i think we will go with 4.

I don't know if you can be induced early without a medical reason - although my sister was at 38 weeks for high blood pressure. But she was sneaky in a way I probably wouldn't have the nerve to be as she stopped taking her medication on purpose to drive her BP up and didn't tell the dr, so they induced her. It turned out OK, but still ...

groovy it must be so hard re the father of the baby, I reckon the best thing is just not contact him until a lack of response or a crappy response won't leave you feeling sad, so when you're in the best possible headspace. Worst thing ever would be feeling sick and vulnerable and going through that horrible thing when you've texted someone that's not responded and feeling bad about that too.

39 weeks today, hopefully it's the final countdown ...

Penelope1980 · 21/09/2011 23:56

bilblio your last day sounded cool! Now I've been off 2 1/2 weeks I'm starting to think about work again and where all my projects I left behind are up to, then have to remind myself that I am not going back until a time when they will all be over anyway and we'll be doing new ones!

Scheherezade · 22/09/2011 01:38

Urgh, can't sleep. Turns out a massive slab of choc cake, washed down with a cuppa is not a good thing to have immediately before bed!

Bubs seems to keep shifting onto his back, so my belly is all sore and distended :( add BH to that and I'm not having a good night! Just want to wake DP up and have him give me a hug whilst I cry and feel very sorry for myself.

I have a scan apmt at 2.30 tomorrow, then meeting with my consultant (fetal maternal, seen her every 4 weks through preg) so I'll discuss it all with them then. No more blood, and no contractions anyhow. So another rubbish falsie! I will never forgive this child if he puts me through 5 more weeks of this.

Scheherezade · 22/09/2011 01:39

fetal medicine not maternal.

sassy34264 · 22/09/2011 07:02

urgh! dd1 + dd2 have a cold and ds as croup and ive now woke up with a cold. its like the house of lurgy at the minute.

i was still awake past 1am last night for the 2nd night running. cue another day of hardly moving from the couch. i was mega bored yesterday and im not usually. i have sore eyes im that tired. moan over.

baby woke me up last night too with some massive turns. my belly made a few cracking/popping sounds when it did. i had them with twins too, but no-one on the sept 10 thread had experienced them. have any of you? i looked it up at the time and there where blogs about it but no medical professional has been able to say what is is.

ohh god i feel sooooo shit!!! Sad

Bumpsadaisie · 22/09/2011 08:17

Chin up Sassy love. It's grim enough with one toddler, how u manage with all your dc's I dont know!

The grimmer it is now, the greater the sense of deliverance will be when baby finally comes!!!Grin you're going to feel great very soon!!

sassy34264 · 22/09/2011 08:57

bumps thanks. im feeling a bit better now im up.
cant wait for dp to get home tomorrow afternoon though. long long week.

happymummytobe · 22/09/2011 09:12

Oh sassy how grim! Nothing like the whole family being unwell is there.

I have woken up with serious chocolate cravings Smile Keep buying kitkats for hospitL bag and eating them. Oh dear. Weighed myself yesterday - could only laugh and imagine the enormous weight loss on the day my baby is born! And the "being good" for months after that till I fit into normal clothes again. Have put on 4 stone! But obviously most of that is baby and water etc.... Yeah, right!

OP posts:
MamaMaiasaura · 22/09/2011 09:15

Sorry to read about bad sleep for Scheherazade and sassy. Other than the many wees a night I had some vivid dreams, both raunchy and then a birth dream with labour pain.

Penelope - all the pains, bh's and irregular contractions I get I'm telling myself it's my body getting ready so all good.

Was convinced today was Friday, silly brain. At least I didn't mix up shower gel and shampoo today, ended up shampooing my garden the other day! Blush

LittlePebble · 22/09/2011 09:41

Sheherazade and Sassy sorry to hear you had a bad night. I managed to only wake twice so feeling a bit better today. Trying to get nursery etc organised but bloody cat has weed in bag for hospital! Luckily I'd taken all baby stuff out as we went away for a night......Angry
Also washed all baby stuff and put it in new changing unit but now it all smells a bit plasticky as the unit smells quite strong, wondering whether I should wash everything again or will it disappear?

bilblio · 22/09/2011 10:03

Morning ladies, sorry to hear about the poor sleep. Mine wasn't too bad, stopped coughing before midnight, slept till 5, had a loo trip, couching fit for an hour and laid their thinking about work and all the things I wish I'd got done.... then fell asleep till 8. My stomach aches so much this morning, but I think it's from all the coughing I'm doing.

Also realised I've left my plant at work. It's a succulent, they're the only indoor plants I can keep alive as they thrive on neglect. :) But I'm not sure if the people I sit with will be able to look after it... depending on who I ask it will either not be watered for 9 months, or watered to death Hmm
Do I risk it or do I go in and collect it?

sassy I have heard people say they've heard popping sounds when LO moved. I think it was someone on the July 07 thread. No one could explain it then either. Hope everyone gets better soon too. It's bad enough when you or the kids are ill, but when you're ill and they're ill it's a nightmare!

Scheh hope you're feeling a bit happier this morning.

So first day of maternity leave... what to do?
So far I've cleaned the kitchen and tidied the living room. I came down this morning to discover DD had raided my craft cupboard and was making a thankyou card to one of my colleagues who'd sent her some sweets so she didn't feel left out. There were craft things all over the living room floor. She isn't allowed in that cupboard without me supervising, (too many expensive pretty things) but it was such a nice thought that I didn't have the heart to shout at her.

Maybe I should finally get round to packing the hospital bag... it's been my plan every weekend for at least 6 weeks. :o

Penelope1980 · 22/09/2011 10:58

Awen I'm having vivid dreams too, some of them are so odd they leave me wondering what is in my subconcious! Not to do with baby though when you'd think I'd dream of him.

Bilblio I'd get the plant if it really matters to you! But enjoy the first day of mat leave - I've been sorting photos from the travel DH and I did a few years ago, it's a neat project.

Am not sleeping well either - strange foot pains are the PITA thing bothering me at present as well as the normal needing to pee a million times a night. I am in awe of those of you with DCs already as couldn't imagine being at this stage of pregnancy and having to look after a toddler - maximum respect to you all!

Fleecy · 22/09/2011 10:59

Sorry about the no sleep thing - truly sucks.

And don't be jealous - no progress still despite another bout of regular contractions last night. Stupid false labour Grin

on the other hand, as penelope said, it all helps I think. Had loads of 'is it, isn't it?' moments with DS and when he finally did arrive it all happened in just over two hours. So at least labour might be quick for those of you with false starts. Hoping it won't happen to me again or I might not make it up there in time for my section!

Scheherezade · 22/09/2011 11:47

I don't know about cracking/popping sounds, but sometimes when I lean forwards and squish my bump it makes farty noises Grin I assume it was just air bubbles in the amniotic fluid....

Have washed all the baby stuff! Just need to iron it and then figure out where to put it all. Got a hanging wardrobe storage thing from ikea, a box for under the cot, and next door is giving us a chest of drawers. And the changing table has 4 compartments, but I've not got boxes for that yet, that a wilko's job on't weekend :)
