Happy 40+1 to you wobbles Grin

Sorry you're having problems with childcare/ monitoring. I'm definitely very weepy and hormonal but think that may be par for the course at this point in pg?

Is there anyone else who can help with childcare so you're not worrying about it? X

Mimatchin · 10/10/2011 12:47

littlepebble Wobble happy 40+1 I am just 40 today. I've also felt weepy and hormonal 2 days ago but since yesterday I've been better. Also I've been able to sleep all throught those last nights. Maybe it is related....

I've been monitored for 20 mins this morning as I was worried because of less fetal movement from baby then she just woke up and kicked on regular basis. I've also found this www.babypartner.com/tools/pregnancy/charts/fetal-kick-chart.php to monitor movement during the day. I've just printed it out and I'll keep it with me all the time.

Congrats to all baby birth so far I hope to be one of you very soon but I still do not know what is a contraction/ no show/no water

I tried to convince baby but I do not think she listening to me...hmmm...anyway will certainly be very soon.
Come on little baby everything is ready for you....

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the midwife who I find a bit too pushy for my taste already offering sweep and induction..booo...I think I'll let her come by herself naturally as soon as she's safe.

Someone spoke earlier about Mamas & Papas I'll also definitely not be ordering anything from them anymore they have rubbish customer service and do not seem to care.

Good luck everyone Wink

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 10/10/2011 13:20

Hi all how are u all, hope ur all well, and congratulations on all the new babies.
I'm now 39 weeks and still no sign Sad
babies room is now finished completely yay!

Sorry if TMI but has any1 else noticed the skin on ur nipples changing? I've had very small colostrum leaks for a while but have noticed the skin on the tip of my nipple feels really really dry (almost feels scabby) YUK! But doesn't look any different has any1 else noticed this? Should I start using my lanolin?

Engelsmeisje · 10/10/2011 13:39

Hi everyone!

Yep Edward I've had not only colostrum (mostly at night) but also dry/flaky skin, mainly round the outside of my nipples. Almost like little scabs sometimes.
Well done on getting the baby room finished!

Congrats to all the new arrivals.

I'm 38+6 today and no sign of anything happening. Have been bouncing on my ball, eating spicy food and getting amorous with DH..... Only 2 weeks til my mum and dad get here from the UK and I would really like them to have a grandchild to meet!

Feeling lazy and unmotivated today - I did so much around the house last week that i think I deserve some time off (and some of the banoffee pie I made yesterday...there'll be none left for DH!).

I had to take my wedding ring last night as my fingers have swollen so much and I'm terrified of it getting really stuck Sad

Still, am not yet at the stage where I'm really miserable at still being pregnant - I can take it for a while longer I reckon (a sure sign that I'll start whinging on here tomorrow Grin )- though I'm already starting to get the, "Are you in labour" phone calls and emails.

MrsP81 · 10/10/2011 14:29

Congratulations to cheshire, mpops, ferino, penelope!

I?ve seen a few people mention problems with Mamas & Papas on here ? you can add me to that list too! Our wardrobe handles were rusty and on the phone they were actually quite good and I had an email to say some new ones were on their way. But that was a while ago now and still no sign of them???

37+6 today and I feel incredibly sick and have a dodgy belly. I wonder if this could mean anything or if it?s just something I ate. I think I better finish packing my hospital bag this afternoon!

I also have the weird skin on nipples edward and engels.

TallyBear · 10/10/2011 14:57

Re Mamas & Papa: I've called to order a new screw for cot. Chap seemed helpful but judging by the experience of MrsP81 I'm not holding out much hope. Luckily for them LO is going in moses basket for a while first.

I've also just sent off a very long email to them complaining about the appalling service I received regarding delivery and asking for refund (£10 is far too much to pay consider the complete incompetence I faced trying to get the thing here). When (if - God help them if they don't) they call to grovel I might mention that there are quite a number of unhappy customers on mn and they may want to buck up their ideas!

Wobbledoos · 10/10/2011 17:44

My consultant has said she wants me in for induction. Tonight. I'm not ready! Very stressing. Send me easy labour vibes!

LittlePebble · 10/10/2011 18:07

Oh wobbles good luck! Xx don't stress I'm sure it'll be fine.

Went to see my new niece today and now I want my baby Envy

Snap on nipple dry skin etc not particularly sexy, I've used lansinoh to keep them from flaking.

BB3 · 10/10/2011 18:25

Good luck wobbles sending good labour vibes to you xx just think even though it's not your first choice, regardless of the method, you'll see your baby soon GrinSmileGrin

happymummytobe · 10/10/2011 18:28

Hello everyone

Sorry for my silence on here - have been reading everyone's news avidly and am so happy for all of you who have had your babies! And such gorgeous names too.

39 + 3 today and very impatient. Have been closely monitored for high blood pressure but all seems to have settled down now and I'm trying not to over-react to every twinge and ache.

This is my first baby and I'm feeling really nervous now it's all about to happen! I'm in awe of all of you with older children Smile

Feeling sort of ready though, and DH and I finally got to grips with the pram/car seat etc this weekend.

edward me too on the nipple weirdness - very good to know I'm not alone! Was getting a bit worried...

Absolutely shattered today but seem to have the energy to bake. Brownies today. Maybe it's a sort of nesting?!

Sorry again for not posting for aeons Blush

sassy34264 · 10/10/2011 18:48

hi. sorry for my absence too. this phone is playing up again, but after a lot of trial and error i think ive worked out a way to get it to work. it just doesnt seem to like so many messages!

anyway, big congratulations to all of you with your new babies. very jealous. obviously im still here growing bigger than ever. i put a pic on my fb and the responses ranged from- wowser, looks like triplets and holy shit! i'll put it on my profile in a minute.

i have my sweep wed, but im thinking of declining. basically because dp has a job fair on thurs. his redundancy means he finishes in 6 months, so he really needs to find one by then. there are other job fairs but they will be different companies. if he had to miss it cos i went into labour naturally, then fair enough- but it feels quite selfish doing it cos im sick of being pregnant. i know it might not work, but everything usually works on me. i got pregnant all 3 times in the 1st month and even my induction got me in full labour within 4 hrs! i get called a baby machine! what would you do?

good luck wobbles sending short, not so painful labour vibes. Smile

37+5

BB3 · 10/10/2011 19:49

Hello all

happy I baked everyday of mat leave until girls were born and didn't clean really so I think baking is def a form of nesting.

sassy I would try and change your appointment day if possible like you said if it happens naturally then so be it but might be nice for him to go if you are able to get a different date for sweep although if another date isn't possible I think I'd have sweep but then I'm too impatient to wait!!

It's been one of those days today. Ds has been a terror. My tv control is broken as he chewed off the buttons, the twins changing water has been on the floor twice (which he then proceeded to lay in with his fresh pjs on) my glasses have been snapped in half and now when changing the girls tonight I Ayse-Rose's belly button is bleeding and weeping (she has an umbilical hernia so has quite a big outie) and all over her vest. Called NHS direct and theyve told me to monitor it tonight and take her to drs tomorrow morning as soon as possible to rule out infection! Grrr

Wobbledoos · 10/10/2011 20:22

I'm home again.

Had a giant ouching sweep, and under orders to get straight back up there if anything happens, or at 0830 anyway for pessary or waters breaking depending on state of cervix.

So at least I have opportunity for sleep tonight... ha...

Thanks for messages all xxx will post tomo at some point!

Fleecy · 10/10/2011 21:44

Best of luck wobbledoos - hope it's speedy and straightforward.

Not getting much sleep here either - Lara is feeding really well and has taken to it like a pro but I have been struggling with pain. Bad latching the first couple of nights doesn't seem to have healed yet. Anyway, the midwife came today and helped with positioning so hopefully things will improve.

Can't believe it's been a week since she arrived! Lara, not the midwife...

bb3 we have good and bad days here too. DD1 and DS have been great considering they're somewhat sleep deprived and we haven't had that much time for them with me recovering from the section and DH picking up the slack. DD2 is fab, obviously Grin but DH and I get very snippy with each other when we're tired Blush

SconesForTea · 10/10/2011 22:19

Good luck for tomorrow Wobble! You'll meet your baby, how exciting. Do you have your childcare sorted?

A big tick in the tired and weepy box here. I had a major hormonal outburst at DH at the weekend through no fault of his own Blush

sassy I'm really surprised you've been offered a sweep so early. The earliest they offer round here is at the 41w appt. If you think it's likely to work, I'd change the date I think... Sounds like your DH needs to get to that job fair.

I had some disappointing news today - baby has turned posterior Sad I blame myself for slumping on the couch every night instead of sitting on my ball as I did with DD And I seem to be sleeping on my back a lot too, or waking up on my back a lot at any rate. So now I have to try to turn the beggar. I don't much fancy a back labour at home Sad although my yoga teacher reckons it's possible.

TallyBear · 10/10/2011 22:40

Good luck Wombledoos...

Scone.. I keep waking on my back as well. I'm getting so fed-up with having to sleep on my side and having to turn over so many times in the night. Can't wait to be able to sleep on my back guilt-free!!

Has anyone used Lilypadz breast pads? I'm not keen on using disposable pads and these seem to be quite good but are a lot to buy to start with.

sassy34264 · 10/10/2011 23:05

scones they have only offered it me because i am gestational diabetic and because i want a vbac, they dont want the baby being too big cos of the extra risk of scar rupturing after 2 c sections. i dont think they would have otherwise.

good luck with turning the baby. x

PenguinArmy · 10/10/2011 23:52

scones you can do a back labour, I didn't have GnA in the end (not by choice) and you'll get the water to help as well. I'm a wimp, so I can do it you definitely can!!

tally I personally didn't leak for long, so maybe use rewashables to start with and see what kind of leaker you are.

PenguinArmy · 10/10/2011 23:56

fleecy good luck and remember to get help again if problems persist. I think our latch was fine quite early on, but it took a while for the damage from the initial bad few latches to properly fix themselves. Sounds like your doing an incredible job :)

mpops · 11/10/2011 01:01

Hello everyone! Aw, wonderful news about the new babies. Congratulations! Those of you who are still yet to give birth, hope you are enjoying your hours, days, weeks.

I've got about five minutes between running around trying to get things done (BB3 - how do you do it? You're amazing.) so I thought I'd tell you a bit about the birth and how we've been doing so far.

My waters broke just after 7am on my due date which I thought was quite funny, even at the time. Called the labour ward, was told to go to the MAU to get checked and there they monitored me and found a couple of drops on baby's heartbeat chart and asked me to go get my stuff from home and go to the labour ward. Which we did, and an hour later, as we were on our way, my contractions had started (quite far apart at that stage so very manageable). The manageable bit lasted up until about 3pm when I started having the proper one - it only took one walk down a flight of stairs (at the doctor's advice) for me to get to that point. Which was good but MY GOD it was also a shock. I was checked for the first time an hour later and was found to be 6cm dilated to the complete surprise of the midwives which started running around trying to get us a labour room ready. By the time they did I could hardly walk the 10 steps there! That was about 5pm and until then I'd only used my TENS machine for about 10 minutes (as I started on it way too late being the noob that I am) and a little bit of gas and air which wasn't really doing much for me, apart from keeping me focused on the breathing. Once in the labour room it was all low lighting, bean bags, birthing balls and that weird round seat, on which I gave birth with my hero of DH holding me, two amazing midwives spurring me on and no pain relief whatsoever because, well, I guess they believed in me and the baby/it was all happening too fast/they enjoyed my screaming. Seriously, I'd no idea I could scream so loudly...

Our daughter entered the world at 7:08pm, with a head full of hair and big cheeks and looking completely lovely. I only got a first degree tear and a few grazes, so didn't feel too wobbly or anything.

So it's all been fine and we are over the moon, apart from breastfeeding. She's really struggling and as a result I'm struggling too. She seems to be one of those Excited Ineffective babies who can't latch on easily because they get too excited, then frustrated, then proper upset. It's really really hard. My midwife is helping a lot but I think we'll need professional help from a specialist. I just wished I had the confidence to go see someone or go to a breastfeeding cafe round here because God knows we need it. But I'm finding it all a bit overwhelming right now...

Still completely in love with motherhood and our little wonder, and completely in awe of DH who's been truly truly amazing.

CheshireDing · 11/10/2011 03:20

Wobbles good luck vibes coming your way :)

Sassy surely an extra day will be okay to wait so DH can go to the jobs fair?

PenguinArmy · 11/10/2011 03:34

mpops :( about the BF. DD was a right fighter, was a two man job for a few weeks and she had 2x one days of nearly not latching at all.

you'd think second time around I would know whether this pain in contraction related or not but DD was OP and I felt nothing but back pain. This is different and I've not had a show or anything else yet.

BB3 · 11/10/2011 04:13

Hello

On phone so going to try my hardest to remember everything!

tally I use reuseables I can't for the life of me remember the brand name but they've got a Lacey pattern on the back. I also bought the other make in mothercare (thinner snoother ones but i cant get on with them as they are just too thin and leak too much. I prefer them to disposables BUT - don't use them anytime you bleed / scab on your nips as they pull it, even with lashings of lansinoh and I go through about three lots a day but am quite leaky so you need to invest in a few sets. I'd get disposables as well to use as and when needed between reusables.

Mpops well done on the birth, sounds like you were fantastic! Where are you based? You know, people don't tell you how bloody hard it is to bf a baby especially the first few weeks.

Couple of things that helped me and ds:

-skin to skin, I'd often take him down to his nappy and me top half uncovered and feed while he lay in my bare chest / belly

  • a few times I'd take him in a warm bath with me and feed him if he was struggling.
  • you could express a tiny bit before feeding so your nipple is softer for latching

There is probably way better advice in the bf area On mn but these worked for me xx

Is there anyone that could go to the bf cafe with you? Does your area have bf groups? I've never been to one but they might help with feeling more comfortable bfing x

It does work itself out though so don't be too disheartened.

It's been one of those nights that's felt very long tonight x i started this message at 2 but between feeds and dozing off for 20 minutes Ive just finished and can't remember anything else! Sorry if I've missed anyone x
